With the ignition switched on: Press START ENGINE STOP button without depressing brake pedal.
Risk of Injury: By pressing the START ENINGE STOP button with depressing brake pedal, the engine starts!

It may not be possible to detect that the car is ready to go by the noises it makes when in operation, as the electric motor is silent. If the large needle in the dial on the left of the instrument cluster (power metre) is not on „OFF“ (for example on the „READY position), you have to expect that the electric motor may run or the internal combustion engine may start automatically.

Switch off the ignition
The Audi A6 hybrid can be identified by means of the „hybrid“ logo and the orange cables in the engine compartment.
The electric motor is silent!!
Hints
In the case of accidents with deployed / undeployed airbags • Place Vehicle in Park and set parking brake• Switch off the ignition• Disconnect the negative terminals of the 12 V battery if needed
Indempentedly therefrom the high-voltage system can be deactivated by the Service-Disconnect. For this open the cover in the middle of the cargo floor in the trunk:
In the case of accidents in which the airbags are deployed, the high-voltage systemis deactivated.

Disconnect the negative terminals of the 12 V batteries
Identification of the high-voltage components
Option A: Release the luggage compartment floor by means of the screws indicated by the arrows (screw- driver in the car tool kit) Disconnect the ground cables from both 12 V batteries (picture on right)
Option B: Lever up the luggage compartment floor by inserting a crowbar at the point indicated. Lift up the luggage compartment floor. Disconnect the ground cables from both 12 V batteries (picture on right)

Identification of the The high-voltage battery is located under the luggage compartment floor.
It is a Lithium-ion battery.
All the high-voltage leads and the high-voltage connections are provided with orange insulation. These items must not be disconnected or damaged.

The 48 V on-board Lithium-ion battery is automatically deactivated during accidents in which the airbag(s) deployed.
For all other cases, in order to deactivate the on-board power supply the 48 V Lithium-ion battery has to be separately disconnected in addition to the 12 V lead acid battery. Therefore:
Turn off ignition before separating the 48V battery!
For minimization the risc of electric arc it is recommended to disconnect the batteries as follows:
1. remove the cargo floor from the trunk2. remove the spare tire and vehicle tool kit3. strip the lining of the spare wheel recess as shown below
4. pull out the communication connector plug5. remove the right sided pole cap and separate the minus pole of the 48 V Lithium-ion battery.

Characteristic features
Vehicle immobilization
The A6 TFSI e may be identified by the display of the instrument cluster (power metre), the charging socket and the “e” in the model lettering. The model lettering at the rear can optionally be deselected.
1. Push “P“-Button on gear lever2. Apply parking brake

1. Remove cover at cargo floor behind the left rear seatback2. Identify emergency fuse disconnection tab and pull out the tab

Deactivation of High Voltage System
For all other cases, deactivate the High Voltage System as follows
Alternative 1 – Emergency disconnect in the vehicle front end, open the front bonnet
1. Locate the emergency disconnect → Direction of travel on the left side2. Pull out red flap from emergency disconnect3. Pull out black plug while pressing the red tab
The High Voltage System is automatically deactivated during accidents in which the airbag(s) deployed.

Disconnect 12 V battery
The 12 V battery is located below the cargo floor in the trunk. The 12 V negative battery cable is connected to the chassis right longitudinal beam. For disconnecting the negative battery cable go on as follows:
1. Remove cover at the right side in the trunk2. Unscrew the negative battery cable from the chassis
Disconnect charging cable
Vehicle connected to charging station:
1. Unlock vehicle via remote control2. Push button charging socket and disconnect the charging connector
Releasing the charging connector manually in case of failure:
1. Remove cover at the left side in the trunk2. Release the yellow ring from its holder and pull the ring carefully3. Disconnect the charging connector
