Versatile for any application

Thanks to the interplay betweena special contact geometry andcontact material specifically de-veloped for this purpose, the 3AHcircuit-breakers can be applieduniversally for all switching dutiesin the medium-voltage range.Regardless of whether mainte-nance-free standard circuit-breakers, circuit-breakers for aparticularly high number of oper-ating cycles or versions for par-ticularly high switching capacitiesare needed, our 3AH circuit-breakers are the right solutionfor any requirements profile,

whether this involves single-pole or two-pole circuit-breakersfor special applications or three-pole circuit-breakers for standardapplications.

They are suitable for:• rapid load transfer,

synchronizing• auto-reclosing up to 31.5 A• breaking of short-circuit

currents with very highinitial rates-of-rise for the transient recovery voltage

• switching of motorsand generators

• switching of transformersand reactors

Economical in every respect

Our 3AH circuit-breakers allowthe user to economize onboth time and costs. Our 3AHvacuum circuit-breakers soonpay for themselves, particular-ly in systems requiring fre-quent switching.

Even after long idle times, thecircuit-breakers of the 3AHseries do not require any relu-brication up to 10,000 operat-ing cycles and this is all attrib-utable to low-wear materialcombinations at the bearingsand long-lasting greases.

The tight tolerance limits in3AH production rule outimpermissible play. Even forfrequent switching, the 3AHstandard circuit-breaker doesnot require any readjustment– all points in favor ofincreased profitability.

Convincing in allapplications

The performance spectrumof the 3AH vacuum circuit-breaker ranges from 7.2 kV to36 kV, covering all of the me-dium-voltage level. And it isprecisely there that the circuit-breakers demonstrate theirefficiency day in day out. Theyfunction reliably in vacuumand thus offer a high level ofavailability. The 3AH circuit-breakers are as suitable forlong idle times as they are fora high number of operatingcycles. This is exactly whythey are so attractive in termsof the stringent demandsplaced on them by the powerdistribution and industrial sec-tors.

The efficiency of these circuit-breakers is clearly attributableto their high standard of qual-ity. And we ensure this qualityright from the preliminarystages: Following assembly,each individual breaker is sub-jected to several hundred op-erating cycles in routine test-ing. The DIN EN ISO 9001certification of our productionprocess also testifies to ourhigh standard of quality, allthe way from developmentthrough manufacture toquality control.

3AH1 – the allrounder in theseries

The 3AH1 is the universal vac-uum circuit-breaker: It com-bines all of the system andproduct advantages of the3AH series, which are signif-icant features for most appli-cations. It covers the conven-tional medium-voltage rangefrom 7.2 to 24 kV, with 10,000operating cycles.

3AH3 – maintenance-freefor high switchingcapacities

It requires no maintenance,is extremely efficient andmanages up to 10,000 op-erating cycles. The 3AH3 isused for high short-circuitcurrents up to 63 kA and forrated voltages up to 36 kV.

Its compact design permits aswitchgear width of 600 mmat the 12 kV level. The clearstructure of the operatingmechanism permits quick ac-cess to all components. Thisalso allows the secondaryequipment to be supplement-ed at a later stage.

Thanks to its high efficiency,it is the ideal circuit-breakerfor use in generators and forindustrial applications.Naturally, the 3AH3 alsomeets IEC test specifi-cations, as do the othercircuit-breakers.

3AH2 – allows a highnumber of operatingcycles

In industrial areas in particular,certain applications require ahigh number of operating cy-cles: In the voltage range upto 24 kV, the 3AH2 can handleup to 60,000 operating cycles.

3AH2 and 3AH4 Frequent-Operation Circuit-Breakers The Performers from 7.2 up to 36 kV

3AH4 – the breaker for ahigh number ofoperating cycles

A great number of operatingcycles are required forcertain industrial uses. Forinstance, the switching ofarc furnaces requires morethan 100 operating cyclesper day. The 3AH4 vacuumcircuit-breaker is designedfor this extremely highperformance level up to 36kV: It can manage as manyas 120,000 cycles.

With only minimum mainte-nance work such as greasingof the operating mechanismafter 10,000 switching cyclesand the replacement of thevacuum interrupters after30,000 cycles, the reliabilityof these breakers is ensuredfor their entire service life,despite the high mechanicalstress to which they are sub-jected.

The 3AH4 reliably mastersthis extreme stressthroughout its entire servicelife. The operatingmechanism does notrequire greasing until after10,000 cycles. Furthermore,the vacuum interrupters donot have to be replaced untilafter 30,000 operatingcycles.

3AH5 – economical evenfor low switchingcapacities

State-of-the-art vacuumtechnology renders the3AH5 vacuum circuit-breaker economical even inthe low switching capacityrange. Where conventionalcircuit-breakers havehitherto been used, the3AH5 offers suchadvantages as compactdimensions and robustvacuum interrupters.

Compared to conventionalcircuit-breakers, it offers fivetimes the number ofoperating cycles with short-circuit currents.

Particularly for users whothemselves wish to supple-ment their secondary equip-ment or only need to breaklow short-circuit currents,the 3AH5 offers the mostfavorable solution between12 and 17.5 kV up to 25 kAand between 24 and 36 kVup to 16 kA.
