Experiential Learning: Most Innovative part of the Programme
TheThe field components are uniquely designed to make the students to move up the learning curvein a gradual manner.
The 1st Field Component named as Action Research Segment(ARS) is devoted to improve the learning abilities of the studentsthrough 2 major field exercises viz. Village Micro Planning andSocial Mobilization. The scope of work of each field exercise isjointly worked out between KSRM and the Host Organization. The students are given field training in PRA, Micro Planningand Social Mobilization before moving to Host Organization. The KSRM students also get their primary lessons in understandingand working with rural communities as they have to compulsorilystay with Rural families during the entire period of ARS.
All the above field segments are imparted greater rigor through prior training in Research Methodology, constant guidance by the Faculty guide and Reporting Officer of the Host Organization and finalevaluation of the above by External Examiner at KSRM. The brief reports of Case Study Segment andManagement Traineeship Segment are published annually by the School to give a sense of contributionto the students in generating new knowledge.
organizations benefit from the in depth analysis of problems withlack of clarity in addressing them wherein they lack clarity inaddressing them through appropriate interventions. The studentwho use both quantitative and qualitative research methodologyare able to zero down on nature of problem from the beneficiary
The 3rd Field Component is named as ManagementTraineeship Segment (MTS). Having gained practical experiencein conducting the field research the students are equipped toaddress more complex problem through scientific research enquiry. In this Segment the host organization sent the problem set athand which are shared with the students at depending on theirinterest and KSRM allocation procedure, they finally pick up aproblem to work on in MTS Segment.
perspective leading to identification of appropriate intervention on behalf of host organization. AsKSRM believes that new knowledge need to be generated through a systematic and scientific enquiry, therefore students are trained in Case Study Research Segment before going to host organization.

As students handle complex projects sent by Organizations in the Management Traineeship Segmentwhich falls in the beginning of 4th Semester the Students are given extensive domain knowledge inthe 3rd Semester. This domain knowledge is delivered through structured courses like Agri BusinessManagement, Value Chain Analysis and Micro finance areas. Further value addition is done to thesecourses through guest lectures by practitioners, field visits and research assignments. The faculty studentcollaborative research is also undertaken occasionally to generate knowledge in deficit areas. For exour student carried Rural Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Survey during ARS Component and usetheir findings during Student Conclave organized by them on the occasion of 3rd National RuralManagement Symposium at KSRM.
The KSRM students with extensive exposure to ground reality on three different occasions automaticallyleads to improvement in their soft skills. However KSRM makes an organized effort to improve theirsoft skill through structured training by Career Advisory and Augmentation Services (CAAS),a constituent of KIIT University.
Career:We prefer to offer our students a career rather than a job. As a part of our career initiative, we startpreparing students from the first year itself through a process of personality and skill development tounderstand their strengths and goals. During second year, we prepare our students for career of theirchoice followed by a three step process- assessment, training with customized career plan followed byre-assessment. The career preparation in terms of technical competence is backed by choice of coursesmade available to students in the IIIrd Semester followed by the Field component of ManagementTraineeship Segment in the domain of their preference. This way we back student’s career choice interms of offering technical competency and enhance his personality trades.
