Managing Linux on “z” With ESALPS
ESALPS – Linux Performance Suite► Analyze all z/VM Subsystems in detail, real time
● (DASD, Cache, Storage, Paging, Processor, TCPIP)► Analyze by Linux servers, applications, processes► Provide Historical view of same data
● Why are things worse today than yesterday?● Did adding new workload affect overall throughput?
► Support all releases (SLES7,8,9,10, RHEL 3,4, z/vm V3,4,5…)► All Standard interfaces► Low resource requirements
► Corrects CPU data► Can instrument hundreds of servers today
