Brief of Symposium
Department of MCAorganized technical symposium ASCEND2K19 on 11th and
12thFebruary 2019.
This technical symposium was held for the budding graduates to showcase
their talent and skills under one roof and also to have a feel of the sporting spirit
among all the graduate students from different locations. Since year 2014,
Department of MCA has been providing such important platform by organizing
this symposium, “ASCEND”, under banner of student association, ABACUS
Club.
Every year, hundreds of students from different locations take part in this
symposium. Last year we had received overwhelming response from nearby cities
and same is continued this year as well. This year we had registered more than 300
participants. Participants were from various locations across Maharashtra like
Sinnar, Lasalgaon, Jalgaon, Chandori, Nashik etc. Student Participants were highly
satisfied by all the facilities and technical support furnished for various
competitions. Brief Report for 11th

Prof. P. G. Fegade and Prof. N. D. Baravkar were the Coordinator for
ASCEND 2K19. The entire faculty team of Department of MCA along with
current batch students planned this symposium with singular agenda of ability for
lifelong learning to help young aspirant to showcase their hidden talent with true
spirit of sportsmanship.

Day 1:11th

Mr. Rahul Bansode,CEO, Application Nexus Webservices,Nashikwas the Chief
Guest for the inauguration ceremony. Prof. Dr. K. N. Nandurkar, Principal,
KKWIEER, Prof. A. L. Rane, Dept. of MCA and coordinators of ASCEND 2K19
were the dignitaries for the inauguration ceremony.
Inauguration ceremony started with the welcome speech by Prof. P. G. Fegade.She
enlightened the features of MCA Programme and department. She highlighted the
importance and objectives of this symposium. Further she explained theme of
ASCEND 2K19 as Artificial Intelligence.
Mr.AniketSengupta student of FYMCAintroduced Chief Guest Mr. Rahul
Bansode. Dr. K. N. Nandurkar felicitated the Chief Guest by offering Momento
and flower bouquet.
Dr. K. N. Nandurkar addressed the audience regarding institutes running under K.
K. Wagh Education Society’s. There are 8 Engineering UG courses and 6 PG
courses with an annual intake of 1068. According to the ranking published by
National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), MHRD, Government of India,
K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education and Research, Nashik has been
ranked 9th in the state of Maharashtra and 85
th amongst all Engineering institutes of
the country. He further focused that institute has been accredited A grade by
National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
Mr. Rahul Bansodegraced the function with his motivating speech. In his speech,
he has shared his experience from college life to corporate life. He elaborated the
importance of machine learning, robotics in day to day life and opportunities in the
field of artificial intelligence. He has provoked students for how to become
successful in life from enlightening opportunities. He also appealed the students to
upgrade themselves with new technologies.He extended his best wishes to student
participants and host institute for present and future endeavors.

At ASCEND 2K19, we organized various technical events like Code Breakers,
Poster Competition, Quiz,Ludo,Project Competition, Web designing, PUBG.
After Inauguration of ASCEND 2K19, following competitions were held on first
day: Code Breakers, Poster Competition, Project Competition, Web
designingLudoand PUBG.
Day 2: 12th
February, 2019-Tuesday
On second day of ASCEND 2K19, following competitions were held: Web
designing, Quiz and Ludo.
For every competition, 2 winners and for some competitions, consolation winners
i.e. total 20 winners were awarded as shown in following prize distribution table.

Following seven competitions were organized in ASCEND 2K19:
1. Code Breakers

Entry Fees: Rs. 50/- per head

It is a unique programming competition where participant who are future coders
participated in this. Participants needs to first crack the mcqstest, and then blind
codingand at last write the program in C/C++ language for the given problem. This
activitymainly tests concentration, accuracy, programming skills. Problem
statement is given tothe participant on the spot. The developers don’t need a screen
or anything when they starttheir scripting. They just create the code in mind and
run their fingers on the keyboard.
This is one of the best technical event in which maximum number of students
participatedamong the crowd. Almost 100 students from different colleges had
participated. Onlyindividual entry allowed in this event. No internet-aid was
provided. No gadgets wereallowed in the laboratory.
This code buster comprises of 3 rounds namely
Round 1: MCQs on C and C++
Round 2: Blind Coding (Monitor Off)
Round 3: Program Statement.
2. Poster Presentation

In this competition, student can show their idea/thought through the canvas.
Standard sized poster (chart paper) is to be used. Stickers are not allowed on the
poster. Participant has to explain the poster within 5 minutes to the judge in brief.
The Theme for the competition was: Artificial intelligence. Topics for poster:
1) Artificial intelligence.
2) YOGA IS BLESSING .
3) E-MONEY .
4)10 YEARS CHALLENGE. Around 25 students have participated in poster
competition.
3. Project Competition

It is a software project competition where participants need to demonstrate their
software project. Participants has to represent their teamwork.
4. Ludo

A team can out only 6 times,after that no one can out them. When 2 player of same
team comes at same unsafe place then no one can out them. One of the team
participants is fixed to throw a die and will give instructions to other team mates. If
found that other than him/her is instructing then the score on the die will be
eliminated.Around 60 students participated in this event.
5. Web Designing

Web Designing is one of the trendy and ever-growing field in which lots of
students look to make it as a career. It is through a website that different
individuals, companies and corporate represents their brand. In today’s age of
internet everyone would like to see your online presence and a website develops a
trust in the consumer’s mind. In order to enhance the designing skills of students,
we have designed “workshop programs of web designing”. The average time
duration for the workshops that we conduct so far would be of 2 days.

Module 02: Complete Understanding and Implementation of CSS
Module 03: Working on Dreamweaver
Module 04: Working on Photoshop

6. Quiz

This is the event where only the fastest, the brightest and the smartest student can
survive. Near about 100 students were participated in this event.The event
comprises of 3 rounds: Paper Round, Rapid Fire Round and Buzzer Round. At
each round, participants will be eliminated. Topics would be technical, non-
technical,current affairs and G.K. Around 60 students participated in this event.
7. PUBG
Date: 11

It is a gaming competition where participant needs to play in squad with their
respective mobile phones. This event mainly tests group coordination and gaming
skills. A Room of up-to 50 individual is created on the spot. All the basic rules of
the game remains the same including not to use trigger and emulator. Two winners
will be declared in final round namely 1st and 2nd. The first winner will be the
team which gets the chicken dinner and the second will be the team having
maximum kills. Also a separate round for rush game players is conducted in which
they get prize based on the no of kills.
This PUBG event comprises of 3 rounds namely:-
Round 1: free kill
Round 2: per kill prize
Round 3: chicken dinner.
