1. a. Judul Artikel: Photocatalytic self-cleaning properties of
cellulosic fibers modified by nano-sized zinc oxide
b. Abstrak: Nano-sized zinc oxide was synthesized and deposited
onto cellulosic fibers using the solgel process at ambienttemperature. The prepared materials were characterized using
several techniques including scanning electron microscopy,
transmission electron microscopy, diffuse reflectance
spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis.
X-ray diffraction studies of the ZnO-coated fiber indicate
formation of the hexagonal crystal phase which was satisfactory
crystallized on the fiber surface. The electron micrographs show
formation of zinc oxide nanoparticles within 1015 nm in size
which have been homogeneously dispersed on the fiber surface.
The prepared materials show significant photocatalytic self-
cleaning activity, which was monitored by diffuse reflectance

spectroscopy. The photoactivity was studied upon measuring the
photodegradation of methylene blue and eosin yellowish under
UVVis irradiation. The photocatalytic activity of the treated
fabrics was fully maintained performing several cycles of
photodegradation.

scavenge DPPH free radical efficiently. Five selected
compounds were able to protect curcumin from the attack ofsulfur free radical generated by radiolysis of glutathione
(GSH). The newly synthesized compounds exhibitedprofoundantioxidantactivities. Five of them rendered
comparatively high antioxidant capacity.

notices of meetings concerned with carbohydrates.
b. Nama Jurnal: chemical reviews
Scope: Chemical Reviews is one of the most highly regardedand highest-ranked journals covering the general topic of
chemistry.
The mission of Chemical Reviews is to provide comprehensive, authoritative, critical, and readable reviews of important recent
research in organic, inorganic, physical, analytical, theoretical, and
biological chemistry.
In addition to the general reviews, the journal has published since
1985 periodic thematic issues focusing on a single theme ordirection of emerging research
c. Nama Jurnal: Green Chemistry
Scope:based on, but not limited to, the definition proposed byAnastas and Warner (Green Chemistry: Theory and Practice, P. T.Anastas and J. C. Warner, Oxford University Press, Oxford,
1998): Green chemistry is the utilisation of a set of principles that
reduces or eliminates the use or generation of hazardous
substances in the design, manufacture and application of chemical
products.
