Mass Media Now
11 years of free press:the number of mediainstitutions and journalistsincrease; the quality ofjournalism in is in question.
Mass Media FactsMore than 80% of Journalists never
read Journalist Code of Ethics; morecomplaints reported to the PressCouncil, more press cases in courts.
Bad journalism is a good reason forgovernment and politician to reducepress freedom (control the press).
Our HypothesisGood journalism will be a good shield
for press freedom;
Good journalism starts in a good schoolof journalism, which is lacking inIndonesia;
Good school of journalism will teachnot only standard of practice but alsoethics and philosophy of journalism.
Our Intervention
Start a new school of journalismthat involves all three sectors(public-private-civil society).
The goals
Short-term: to train and educateyoung generation of journalists.
Long-term: to create an atmosphereof free and responsible press, whichis essential for better Indonesia.
