Growing up on my Dad’s farm, I always knew I had a love and appreciation for Mother Earth.

This passion drove the direction I wanted to go to pursue my college education. I graduated with a

Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture while also working as a landscape contractor and designer.

After graduating, my vision was to create a full service garden center with a landscape design division

called DeWitt Landscaping. The business grew to the point where we started a re-wholesale division.

We were using black plastic for weed control, and I saw first- hand the effects of suffocated soil.

My clients needed to have sustainable soil in order to grow healthy plants. Never being satisfied

with the “norm” I turned this problem into an opportunity by producing the first ever permeable

landscape fabric. This landscape fabric allowed air, water and nutrients to pass through and my

clients didn’t need to use chemicals to eliminate weeds..... Hence, the birth of the DeWitt Company.

Today we remain a family owned and operated company inspired by this industry and driven by

our down to earth philosophy. We have a dedicated and talented team that is truly committed to

our clients, this industry and our environment.

OUR HISTORY

A Company Built From the Ground Up...

Larry DeWitt started his own landscaping business in Sikeston, Missouri, soon after earning degrees in horticul-ture and landscape design. In 1977, he was looking for a material to stop weeds and increase plant growth - with-out chemicals. But back then, black plastic was a land-scaper’s only option. From hands-on experience, he knew that while plastic stops weeds, it also blocks out moisture and air. The result: disease, fungus and rot.

Unsatisfied, Larry decided to create something better. He experimented with textiles and materials until finally hitting paydirt. He discovered that woven polypropylene did everything he wanted. And his new “landscape fab-ric,” later dubbed DeWitt’s Weed Barrier™, changed the professional landscaping industry.

Pros quickly realized what an outstanding product De-Witt’s Weed Barrier was - for stopping weeds and also for promoting tremendous growth. They couldn’t get enough. As a result, DeWitt products are used in more than 70% of the commercial landscaping done throughout the United States. That makes the company the #1 Choice of Landscape Professionals.

In 2000, the company moved into a 400,000 square foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility which is centrally located in the heartland of America. DeWitt Deluxe Pond Netting is a sturdy, safe material to install over ponds to prevent leaves and other debris from entering the pond environment, while protecting fish and other pond life from predators. It is constructed of polyeth-ylene with 1/4 inch hole opening. The strands are bonded together and UV-treated for longer life. Deluxe Pond Netting allows sunlight, air and moisture which helps maintain the proper biological balance for all pond life. It is easy to use and install. Regular Pond Netting is also available. It is constructed of polypropylene strands and has a 3/4” inch hole opening.

DeWitt Pond Underliner is a durable, clean, and safe material to install under ponds instead of using cardboard, newspapers, sand or old carpet padding. DeWitt Pond Underliners are constructed of nonwoven needle punched fabrics in various weights. DeWitt Solar-Heating Gro-TunnelCreate a warm, humid environment for your Spring, Fall and Winter gardens. The DeWitt Solar Heating Gro-Tunnel is constructed of DeWitt Fleece Cover which absorbs the heat of the sun while allowing air, water and light through to stimulate growth. The Gro-Tunnel has two solar-heated water tubes that run along each side. Each tube holds 10 gallons of water, when heated will release BTUs of heat at night. The floor of the Gro-Tunnel is made from DeWitt Weed-Barrier landscape fabric, which collects heat, prevents weed growth and conserves soil moisture, in turn pro-moting healthy plant growth, thus eliminating the need for herbicides. When plant maturity has been reached, you simply slide the sides of the Gro-Tunnel upward and harvest your crop.

INSTALLATION: Easy as 1–2–3.1. Prepare the soil. Lay the 36” X 120” fabric. Install plants or seeds. Lay solar tubes on both sides leaving at least 8” fabric on both sides.

2. Install the tunnel by pushing the wire supports through the fabric being extra careful not to puncture the solar tube.

3. Fill the tube with water. Twist the end like a bread wrapper. Install Zip Tie and tighten, fold twist and install Zip Ties around twisted tubes for extra security from leakage. Close end and GROW.

Growing up on my Dad’s farm, I always knew I had a love and appreciation for Mother Earth.

This passion drove the direction I wanted to go to pursue my college education. I graduated with a

Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture while also working as a landscape contractor and designer.

After graduating, my vision was to create a full service garden center with a landscape design division

called DeWitt Landscaping. The business grew to the point where we started a re-wholesale division.

We were using black plastic for weed control, and I saw first- hand the effects of suffocated soil.

My clients needed to have sustainable soil in order to grow healthy plants. Never being satisfied

with the “norm” I turned this problem into an opportunity by producing the first ever permeable

landscape fabric. This landscape fabric allowed air, water and nutrients to pass through and my

clients didn’t need to use chemicals to eliminate weeds..... Hence, the birth of the DeWitt Company.

Today we remain a family owned and operated company inspired by this industry and driven by

our down to earth philosophy. We have a dedicated and talented team that is truly committed to

our clients, this industry and our environment.
