Whether it was reading manga like Doraemon and Pahman or horror novels, such asSherlock Holmes and Rampo Edokawa’s Boy Detectives Club series she devoured everything. She would turnher focus on Fuyumi Ono’s Ghost Hunt series (Del Rey Manga) and that would change everything for her. Inhigh school, Tsujimura would begin writing her first novel Tsumetai Kousha no Toki wa Tomaru. Tsumetaiwould eventually be published when she was in her early twenties and it would go on to win the 31stMephisto Award in 2004.

She followed that up with a handful of works that were nominated for major awards including the prestigiousNaoki Prize (Zero, Eight, Zero, Seven in 2009). Her 2010 novel Tsunagu would take the Eiji Yoshikawa Prizefor New Authors. And then in 2012 she would eventually win Japan’s top literary award, the Naoki Prize, forher work Kagi no nai Yume wo Miru.
