Preparations for Using Fluorescent Ink

Checking the Files to UseThe following files are necessary to print using fluorescent ink.

• Fluorescent color library (Roland DG Fluor Color Library Chart.pdf )

• Swatches for Adobe Illustrator (Roland DG Fluor Color Library.ai)

• Swatches for CorelDRAW (Roland DG Fluor Color Library.xml)

You can download these files from http://download.rolanddg.jp/en/agreement_fluorcolorlibrary.html.

Downloading the Printing Environment FilesDedicated printing environment files are necessary to print using fluorescent ink. Follow the procedure below to download these files.

1. Check the printing environment files.

A Start ErgoSoft RIP Roland Edition 2.

B Click the [Print Environments] button.The "Print environments" dialog box appears.

C Check whether printing environment files with the following character strings exist within the "Print environments" dialog box.• Texart [The name of the model being used]_8 Colors FyFp...* Example: Texart RT-640_8 Colors FyFp_Apparel Tricot Smooth_08P_360x720_01

If a printing environment file like that shown above is present, there is no need to download new files. Proceed to P. 6 “Printing Using Fluorescent Ink”.If no printing environment files like that shown above are present, proceed to the next procedure.

Preparations for Using Fluorescent Ink

2. Download the printing environment files.

A Click [Download].The "Download Print Environments" dialog box appears.

B Select the printing environment files to download.1 Open the "Texart" folder (click the next to the folder name).2 Open the "Roland Texart Name of the model being used 8 colors FyFp" folder.* Example: Roland Texart RT-640 8 Colors FyFp3 Open the folder—such as "Apparel Tricot Emboss," "Apparel Tricot Smooth," and

"Decoration Banner Satin"—in which the printing environment files are stored.4 Select the check box of the folder, such as "Decoration Banner Satin," in which the

printing environment files that you want to download are stored.The check boxes of the printing environment files are selected. You can also select the check boxes of the printing environment files separately.

Important

If you select the check box of a folder with the folder closed, the files within the folder will not be selected. Be sure to open the folder (click the next to the folder name), and then select the check box of the folder in which the printing environment files are stored.

C Select the "Import Print Environments Directly" check box, and then click [Download].

When the download is complete, "Download completed." is displayed at the bottom of the dialog box.

D Click [Close].

Determining the Output Color (Printing the Roland DG Fluor Color Library Chart)The Roland DG Fluor Color Library chart is a printing sample of fluorescent colors. Printing the Roland DG Fluor Color Library chart allows you to check the fluorescent colors that can be printed with your printer and your media. By selecting colors from this chart and creating illustrations with these colors, you can accurately reproduce the desired colors. (Slight pattern differences may result depending on the printer or media content.)

Procedure

A Load into the printer media that is the same type as the media that will actually be used.Be sure to use media that is the same type as the media that will actually be used. If you use media that is a different type, you will not be able to reproduce the colors when you perform actual printing.

B Drag "Roland DG Fluor Color Library Chart.pdf" to ErgoSoft Roland Edition 2.

C Select the printing environment for outputting fluorescent ink.Select a printing environment that includes the following names. Select a printing environment that matches the output resolution.• Texart [The name of the model being used]_8 Colors FyFp...* Example: Texart RT-640_8 Colors FyFp_Apparel Tricot Smooth_08P_360x720_01

D Open the "Color Management PDF" dialog box.1 Click [Color Management PDF] under [Properties].2 Click .

E Configure the necessary settings in the "Color Management PDF" dialog box.1 Click [Advanced].2 Select the [Use "Named Colors Profile" for spot color replacement] check box.3 Click [OK].

F From the [File] menu, click [Print].The [Print] dialog box opens. Set the items as necessary, and then click [OK].The Roland DG Fluor Color Library chart is printed.

G Determine the actual colors to print.View the printed Roland DG Fluor Color Library chart and determine the colors that you want to output. Use the codes on the vertical axis and the numbers on the horizontal axis to specify colors.

1. Specify fluorescent colors for an illustration created in Adobe Illustrator.

A Open the dialog box to use in selecting the library.1 Open the swatch palette menu.

The swatch palette is displayed by going to the menu and selecting [Window], then [Swatches].2 Click [Open Swatch Library].3 Click [Other Library].

The "Open" (or "Select Library") dialog box appears.

B Open "Roland DG Fluor Color Library.ai."1 Select "Roland DG Fluor Color Library.ai."2 Click [Open].

The swatch library containing the fluorescent colors is opened.

You can register "Roland DG Fluor Color Library.ai" as a swatch library in the Adobe Illustrator library by saving this file in the folder shown below. Once the registration is performed, you can open the library directly from the swatch palette menu, eliminating the need to search the file every time you start Adobe Illustrator.C: \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS6\Presets\(language abbreviation)\Swatches* "C" is the name of your computer's local disk.* The language abbreviation differs depending on the language used.* Depending on the version of Illustrator used, "\Presets\Swatches" may be used instead of "\Presets\

(language abbreviation)\Swatches."

C Specify a fluorescent color for a location in the illustration.View the Roland DG Fluor Color Library chart to determine the color to select.

The color to use

Use the codes on the vertical axis and the numbers on the horizontal axis to specify colors. For example, if you want to use the color indicated in the above figure, select "RFCL-YS2-10."

D Save the illustration.

• [Use "Named Colors Profile" for spot color replacement] check box.• [Use "Named Colors Profile" to interpret DeviceN color spaces] check box.• [Use CMYK color management for DeviceN color spaces] check box.4 Click [OK].

E From the [File] menu, click [Print].The [Print] dialog box opens. Set the items as necessary, and then click [OK].Printing starts.

Outputting from CorelDRAW* This section is for use with CorelDRAW X6 and later versions.

1. Specify fluorescent colors for an illustration created in CorelDRAW.

A On the [Window] menu, point to [Color Palettes], and then click [Open Palette].The "Open Palette" dialog box appears.

B Open "Roland DG Fluor Color Library.xml."1 Select "Roland DG Fluor Color Library.xml."2 Click [Open].

The swatch library containing the fluorescent colors is opened.
