6th Sunday in Ordinary Time “For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” MATTHEW 5:20 The scribes and Pharisees lived according to the letter of the law and they used this to elevate themselves above the other people.
Jesus is clear – it’s the love that you have in your heart that will get you to heaven. Simply following church rules out of obligation, not love, does not put you on the path to heaven. Attending Mass on Sunday and then gossiping about a fellow parishioner on the parking lot is an example of a modern day Pharisee.

2017 Annual Catholic Appeal
“Love Your Neighbor As Yourself”
The ACA theme, “Love Your Neighbor As Yourself,” was selected to remind us that our contribu ons to the Annual Catholic Appeal enable the funded ministries and services to share God’s love with many others in our parish, our Archdiocese, and throughout the world. Each pledge makes a difference because all parishes par cipate in the campaign and the gi s of many enable our Archdiocese to deliver the needed ministries and services.
A er our parish reaches its goal of $27,227 in paid pledges, 100% of the addi onal funds come back to our parish to help fund our needs. If you received your pledge form in the mail, please complete it and mail it back or bring it to Mass next weekend. For those of you that did not receive a mailing or have not had me to respond to it, we will conduct our in-pew pledge process at all Masses next weekend. The Annual Catholic Appeal brochures are at the doors of the Church and Chapel. Please spend some me this week reflec ng on the brochure.
Thank you for your prayerful considera on and generous response.

BAPTISMAL PREPARATION PROGRAM Parents who are awaiting the birth of their child are busy with many preparations as they get ready for the new arrival. This time of preparation is also the ideal time for expectant parents to prepare for the Baptism of their child. Prior to the birth of their child, parents are invited to participate in a Baptismal Preparation session which gives parents an opportunity to reflect on the sacrament of Baptism and what this sacrament will mean in their own lives as well as the life of their child. Baptismal sessions are held monthly (usually on the second Tuesday of the month from 7:00—8:30 PM). Please call Sr. Kathy (847-679-1202) to schedule an appointment and register for a baptismal preparation session.
