Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time In today’s second reading, St. Paul encourages us not to grow weary or lose heart, but to persevere in following Jesus. Our willingness to give of ourselves, even in the face of conflict and division, is one way to measure our discipleship.

We invite all who have been baptized in another faith tradition and would like to be received into Full Communion with the Catholic Church! We invite all who were baptized Catholic but did not complete their sacraments! This evening will be informal with time to ask questions, share concerns, and learn about the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) process.

If someone you know is interested in becoming Catholic, please extend this invitation to them. Please call me, Marti Barnes, Pastoral Associate, at 513-941-3661 x 12, or email me at [email protected] with any questions. We look forward to seeing you on August 20th! EVERY 40 SECONDS, SOMEONE IN THE U.S. IS HAVING A STROKE!

Stroke Scan Plus will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church Wednesday, August 28, 2019

to provide life-saving, wellness ultrasound screenings. It is important to perform preventive maintenance for ourselves yearly. Do you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol, diabetes, or a family history of heart disease, stroke, abdominal aneurysm or internal cancers? If so, do not miss this opportunity for early detection of a possibly serious disease. These screenings are typically NOT per-formed at your annual check-up, and insurance companies may not pay for them unless you are symptomatic. Diagnostic versions of these screenings cost thousands of dollars in a hospital. Stroke Scan Plus will be offering them to you for $149 for all 7 combined ultrasound screenings (Stroke, AAA, AFIB & organs). Insurance is NOT necessary and appointments are limited. Stroke Scan will be available at the church for you to register on August 17 & 18, 2019 or please call 832-437-7355 or toll free 1-866-935-7226 to schedule an appoint-ment today for you or a loved one. The screenings will take place in the Gathering Space.

Dear Community Rewards Organization & Members:

Thank you for being a member of the Kroger Community Rewards program. We are committed to helping our communities

WHIZ KIDS TUTOR

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Whiz Kids is a tutoring program operat-

ing throughout the Greater Cincinnati Area.

The tutoring site for our area is located in the

Addyston United Methodists Church. The focus

of the program is to work with at-risk children

in our area in the first through the fourth grades,

concentrating on reading skills.

The success of the program depends on

volunteers who are willing to spend about one

hour each week working one-on-one with a

student in the program. Many volunteers from

Saint Joseph Parish have worked with us for the

past few years. However, we are still in need of

additional people to help this year. No special

training is necessary. Any caring adult or

students 16 years old or older can qualify to

tutor. All training and materials are supplied by

Whiz Kids.

The Three Rivers School District works

with Whiz Kids to identify kids for the program

and the district has given the program high

marks for helping students increase their

reading skills.

program contact:

Please take advantage of the
