Q&A How did you find your way into the beauty space?Cartilage and skin cells are of the same tissue family, so after seeing the effects the body’s own healing factors had on helping heal the cartilage tissue of my patients in orthopedics, I had the idea of mixing the proteins into an injectable healing cocktail for the skin.

What inspired you to start your own brand? My patients. When my patients asked me to recommend a post-medical treatment skincare regime, I surveyed the market and found an array of aggressive ingredients and confusing marketing. So, I originally set out to create a patients-only skincare regime built around anti-inflammatory ingredient science.

What was the process of starting your own brand like?It came organically starting from creating products for my patients. The word spread quickly because I put so much time and research into every product. The results really spoke for themselves and my brand naturally grew.

How has your eponymous brand evolved since it launched in 2014? I see an intense interest from the customer in the science of their own health and the products they use. This interest allows me to use advanced

ingredient science to invent increasingly tailored products and explain to the customer why those products and ingredients work. That’s what the savvy customer wants to know: what ingredients are they are putting on their skin and into their bodies, do they work and why? I have evolved my education approach to now include free virtual masterclasses, an editorial platform called Doctor’s Notes where I feature and interview experts in different fields such as nutrition and sleep and I also offer my patients virtual consultations for when you can’t go to the clinic or see an expert in person.

An interview with Dr. Barbara Sturm - Royal Yacht International's new skincare partner for our yachts and our esteemed clients onboardCan you talk us through your career? I began my medical practice in anti-inflammatory orthopedics, and I later translated some of the scientific anti-inflammatory advances I helped pioneer in joints into skin and aesthetics. Inflammation is really the bane of the body, and at the root of much dysfunction and disease. As a doctor and scientist, I pursue advances in ingredient science and cutting-edge techniques and treatments. I invented a blood plasma-based injectable and facial in 2002, which the public later called the “vampire facial,” and then I created a bespoke, plasma-infused moisturizing (MC1) cream for my patients soon after. When patients asked me to recommend an entire skincare regimen, and I couldn’t recommend any existing options, I set out to create my own science-driven, high performance skincare regimen and in 2014 I launched Molecular Cosmetics skincare – a line formulated for those who yearn for an uncomplicated yet highly effective skincare regime that provides hydration, nutrition and regeneration glow.

12 | www.royalyachtinternational.com

Q&A What, in your opinion, is the brand’s hero product? I don’t have “hero” products or ingredients - I love all of my products and I created all of them for a reason so it’s very difficult to choose! I think that if I had to single out one it would be my FACE CREAM.

Talk us through your skincare routine. Twice a week, I’ll either use the FACIAL SCRUB or ENZYME CLEANSER in the shower on my face and body to remove dead skin cells, boost circulation and encourage skin renewal. The rest of the time I use my CLEANSER. Then I immediately (to avoid transepidermal water loss) apply my HYALURONIC SERUM and ANTI-POLLUTION DROPS, then my FACE CREAM. For

Zoom calls and IG Lives, I use GLOW DROPS instead of makeup and the LIP BALM for hydration and a sheer glow. In the early evening, I apply my FACE MASK before my serums and cream. I use my LIP BALM throughout the day, and SUN DROPS every day. I usually put my NIGHT SERUM on before bed. I take my supplements religiously – SKIN FOOD, ANTI-POLLUTION FOOD, and REPAIR FOOD.

Your products are staples in many people’s routines the globe over. That must be quite overwhelming to comprehend. Would you agree? To hear “you changed my skin” and to receive incredible before and after images that customers have shared with us is what excites and gets me out of bed in the morning. And to that end, I am driven on the creation side to invent new solutions for patients; that passion has driven my scientific work for the last two decades

What is at the core of the brand’s DNA? An anti-inflammatory approach to skincare and ingredient science behind every product.

What have been the hurdles you’ve experienced throughout your career? A few years ago, I had just created our Darker Skin Tones line in collaboration with Angela Bassett and was discouraged by the initial reluctance of some of the major retailers in picking it up. We had put so much effort and research into creating something truly extraordinary for our darker skin toned clients, but we didn’t give up. Finally, it came to the point where I insisted that if retailers wanted to carry my main Molecular Cosmetics Skincare line, they’d have to carry the Darker Skin Tones line as well, and they did. I'm a doctor, so I am in the service business. Serving patients starts with listening to the patient.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, what have been the milestones? When David Olsen (who at the time, was the Vice President of Beauty at Net-a-Porter) took my products on at NAP, it was a window to all other retailers and they started asking me one-by-one to join them. That was my big milestone.

This is ‘The Beauty Issue’ – how do you define beauty? Healthiness, happiness, and confidence from the inside-out. Healthy, hydrated and radiant skin that doesn’t require makeup and is beautiful on its own. And that is a central premise of my skincare line and approach as a doctor.

The Greek Islands

A perfect place to experience on a yacht charter, Greece has many beautiful anchorages only accessible by yacht, and off-the-beaten-track coves to spend your days soaking up the sun.

The beautiful crystalline Greek waters have attracted visitors for centuries, drawn to the charming islands and secluded bays, and always welcomed by the warm Greek hospitality.

Day 1 - AthensEmbark your yacht and enjoy an overnight stay in Piraeus. Piraeus is a port city in the region of Attica, Greece. Piraeus is located within the Athens urban area, 12 kilometres Southwest from its city centre, and lies along the East coast of the Saronic Gulf. Visit the Parthenon with the newly opened Acropolis museum and explore the capital of one of the oldest democracies in the world. Dine in the picturesque Mikrolimano, where restaurants jostle for space around the harbour, serving fish and all manner of seafood.

Day 2 - KeaLeaving the bustling and fascinating port of Piraeus for a visit to Kea, an exceptionally picturesque island. On the South side of Nikolaos Bay, which was a pirate stronghold in the 13th century, is this little port of Korissia, built on the side of ancient Korissia.

Endless stunning coastlines & secluded beaches

Day 3 - KythnosThe island is wild. It offers the double advantage of being relatively close to the mainland and of being relatively uninhabited, even in Summer, with dry stone walls running up and down the many hills. Dry stone walls run along the many hills and here and there goats and beehives attest to the presence of a still very traditional agriculture. A few pockets of greenery and some beautiful white villages punctuate this arid landscape. Moreover, the island is famous for its beaches, numerous and still very preserved.

Day 4 - TinosTinos is famous amongst Greeks for the Church of Panagia Evangelistria, its 80 or so windmills, about 1000 artistic dovecotes, 50 active villages and its Venetian fortifications at the mountain, Exomvourgo. All around the island of Tinos, the islanders have made the most incredible things out of stone. The hills are all terraced with stone walls; every little village is connected to its most proximate neighbors by stone walkways set between a parallel set of stone walls.

Day 5 - MykonosChora, as the town of Mykonos is commonly known, captivates visitors with its beautiful position, scale and architecture. It’s one of the most famous and cosmopolitan of the Greek islands. Renowned discotheques and nightclubs attract Athenian show business personalities. Tiny streets and windmills are scattered on the hill and an area of the town leads down to the sea. This picturesque and often photographed area is aptly called the Venice of Mykonos. Some fine sandy beaches can be found on the island.

Day 6 - DelosDiscover the rocky uninhabited island of Delos. Despite its small size, Delos was considered one of the most sacred of all islands in ancient Greek culture. Indeed, this island is a UNESCO ancient sanctuary and is believed to be the birthplace of the God Apollo.

Day 7 - ParosTravel to Paros Island and enjoy an afternoon of leisure. Mykonos toNaousa on Paros island where you can choose from a number of activites swimming and water sports, visit the picturesque town for a shopping trip before dining in a traditional Greek tavern or have a BBQ on the beach and witness the sunset. The choice is up to you. The island of Paros is one of the most popular Greek islands.Located in the heart of the Cyclades, in the Aegean sea, it is situated in front of Naxos and near Mykonos.

Day 8 - SantoriniSantorini, otherwise known as Thira, is located in the Southernmost point of Cyclades. It’s the island famous worldwide for its great wines, the international and local cuisine and most of all, for the villages, which are situated on cliffs and offer breathtaking views over the submerged volcano. The island also has impressive beaches with black, red or white sand! It is a popular island with intense night life that attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Day 9 - MilosMilos Island, which is famed for its natural beauty. Take a trip to Kleftiko Bay, located in the South West side of the island. Access is possible only from the seaway.Even on your first visit, Kleftiko may appear familiar, as it appears in many tourist guides, showing the characteristic rock and cave.

Day 10 - AthensNamed after the goddess of wisdom,Athena, Athens is one of the most magical cities in the world. The birthplace of democracy and civilization, its ancient roots are still very much in evidence in the Acropolis and the majesticMount Lycabettus, which Athena was said to have dropped from the heavens as a bulwark to defend the city.

Turkey

F rom luxury resorts and modern ports to heavenly white-sand beaches, secluded coves and ancient ruins, many only accessible by sea, the ‘Turquoise Coast’ of Turkey is the Mediterranean at its most exotic. Delight in fresh meze and grilled seafood in al fresco restaurants and wander around the vibrant bazaar at the chi-chi resort of Fethiye. In the pristine waters, discover an undersea haven of marine wildlife that includes sea turtles and dolphins.

The landscape is scattered with centuries-old ruins, many only accessible by sea.

Day 1 - BodrumEmbark on your adventure in lively Bodrum situated on a peninsula facing the island of Kos. After lunch

on board, visit the virtually intact Bodrum Castle built by the Crusaders in the 15th century guarding the harbour. This castle houses an excellent underwater archaeological museum where you can see many artefacts found in wrecks along the ancient trading route. Bodrum also has a very nice bazaar & an attractive town located around the harbour. Wander the maze of streets & soak up the atmosphere.

Our Recommendation: Sands Beach Club, at Bodrum’s Mandarin Oriental.

Day 2 - Sedir Island & the Gulf of GokovaExplore the Gulf of Gokova where there are many beautiful anchorages and protected areas for swimming and sunbathing, in unspoiled natural settings. Anchor in Sedir Island, also known as Cleopatra Island, one of the most beautiful coastlines, thanks to its sea, which reflects all shades of blue, and a worldwide unique feature it has. This small island has a special beach that is found only in two places in the world. The beach is made from seashells and exceptional sea ranging from turquoise to navy blue. It is said that this fine organic sand composed from fossils was brought by ships from the Red Sea especially for Cleopatra.

Where East meets West, exotic and rich in cultural heritage

can see why the devil decided to call it home. The islands are a haven for keen swimmers and it is a great spot to take along your snorkelling gear to swim over ruins in the area. Maybe one of the most important points of interest of these islands is the submerged ruins of a bridge clearly being a link between two of the islands. Boats cannot pass here, but it is not to say that snorkellers and swimmers cannot follow the remains of the bridge along to the next island. On the largest of the islands, there is also a lagoon and sandy beach ideal for a lazy and relaxing afternoon.

Day 6 - Ölüdeniz Blue LagoonOludeniz is a small village in Fethiye where you will find Blue Lagoon, one of the most photographed gems in the world known for its soft sands and uniquely varying shades of turquoise & azure. Oludeniz is a beach resort, full of hotels, great colourful restaurants and bars. It’s also one of the best paragliding spot of the world with its fantastic view & weather conditions. You can immerse yourself, paddle barefoot along the shoreline or swim across to the tiny island at the mouth of the lagoon. Use your snorkel to discover the myriad of tiny fish in these sheltered waters and soak in the scents of myrtle, laurel, tamarisk and pine.

Beach, a 5400m of natural wonder with salt water on one side and fresh water on the other one. The beach is where a loggerhead sea turtle, also known as Caretta lays eggs.

Day 4 - Cleopatra’s Baths & GöcekEnter the Gulf of Fethiye into Gocek bays forming a natural lace work, each with a different beauty but joined by a harmony of nature and endless hues of green and blue. Gocek Bay leads the way with its perfect natural surroundings and hundreds of small bays and islands. Stop alongside the bay to see the semi-submerged ruins of Cleopatra’s Baths. Legends say that Cleopatra used this cove for bathing. In the afternoon continue cruising towards the deepest point of the Gulf of Fethiye. Göcek is nestled here at the foot of pine-clad mountains and looks out over the '12 islands' of the bay. The waterfront is lined with bars and restaurants. Set sail for one of the many secluded anchorages in lovelyGöcek Bay, or stay dockside overnight to enjoy Göcek or the village.

The Amalfi Coast

T he Amalfi Coast reaches from the Gulf of Naples to the Gulf of Salerno, encompassing everything that is dreamed of in a Mediterranean coastal landscape. This truly is the perfect Italian yacht charter holiday destination. Dramatic cliffs tumble into deep blue seas, picturesque towns crowd into the hillsides amid jutting churches and verdant forests, and the restaurant scene is amongst the best in Europe. Deemed by UNESCO to be “an outstanding example of Mediterranean landscape”, the Amalfi Coast has become an extremely popular destination for visiting superyachts, with luxurious resorts, boutique shopping and fine dining establishments appearing in recent years to serve its new influx of visitors with a penchant for the finer things.

Live "La Dolce Vita" by yacht for an unforgettable Italian experience

Day 1 - NaplesYour magical trip will start in Naples, often perceived by many visitors as little more than an unruly porthole to fabled destinations like Capri and the Amalfi. Big mistake. Italy's third largest city is one of its oldest, most artistic and most delicious. Its Coast centro storico (historic centre) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its museums boast some of Europe's finest archaeology and art, and its swag of royal palaces and castles make Rome look positively provincial. This is where pizza was invented, and since the 19th century, the Neapolitans

have raised it to a fine art. Some of Naples’ best pizzerias can be found on Via dei Tribunali, a kind of holy grail for pizza- lovers. Whatever it is you desire – classic Neapolitan pizza, coffee, street snacks, sweet treats or fresh seafood - it can all be found here, and to an excellent standard.

Day 2 - IschiaThe most developed & largest of the islands in the Bay of Naples. It's an intriguing concoction of sprawling spa towns, abundant gardens, buried necropolises & spectacular scenery.

60 | www.royalyachtinternational.com

Ischia offers crystal clear waters, cultural sites & rugged coasts full of coves and beaches where seawater mixes with hot water from thethermo-mineral springs.

Our Recommendation: Immerse yourself in the oasis of relaxation in thermal baths Regina Isabella.

Day 3 - SorrentoContinue on to Sorrento after lunch for our overnight anchorage. A tender can take you ashore to explore, then return to the boat for dinner. Or we can arrange car transportation to dine at Torre del Saracino on a terrace which overlooks the whole bay of Naples. Enjoy the immensity of the sea and the rich vegetation, characterized by olive groves and gardens of oranges and lemons.

Day 4 - CapriCapri's beguiling combination of fabled beauty and hedonism has charmed Roman emperors, Russian revolutionaries and showbiz stars for decades. It’s the perfect microcosm of Mediterranean appeal – a smooth cocktail of chichi piazzas and cool cafes, Roman ruins and rugged seascapes. Capri also has a fabulous range of evening entertainment. It is recommended to experience the magical Blue Cave, take a walk through the narrow whitewashed streets to enjoy the sunset and tranquility, and then walk back to the Piazzetta, in the centre of the city. It is possible to lunch at the Capri Palace Hotel,

which is set in a fabulous location and serves exceptional food.

Our Recommendation: Da Paolino Restaurant, La Fontelina and Il Riccio.

Traditional Caprese Cuisine in the exclusive Garden of Lemons

Day 5 - AmalfiIt is hard to grasp that pretty little Amalfi, with its sun-filled piazzas and small beach, was once a maritime superpower with a population of more than 70 000. For one thing, it’s not a big place – you can easily walk from one end to the other in about 20 minutes. For another, there are very few historical buildings of note. The explanation is chilling – most of the old city, and its populace, simply slid into the sea during an earthquake in1343. Enjoy also a wine tasting tour. Starting from Amalfi we suggest you the visit of Ravello village which is located on the top of the hill of Amalfi coast, with beautiful ancient villas and lush gardens overlooking the entire bay.

Day 6 - PositanoPositano is the coast’s most picturesque and photogenic town, with steeply - stacked houses tumbling down to the sea in a cascade of sun- bleached peach, pink and terra-cotta colours. No less colourful are its steep streets and steps lined with wisteria-draped hotels, smart restaurants and fashionable boutiques. Enjoy the breath-taking views on the terrace of Caffè Positano with a great meal and glass of Italian wine.

Day 7 - NaplesYou will disembark in Naples. Nearby is Mount Vesuvius, the still-active volcano that destroyed nearby Roman town Pompeii. Dating to the 2nd millennium B.C., Naples has centuries of important art and architecture. The

city's cathedral, the Duomo di San Gennaro, is filled with frescoes. Other major landmarks include the lavish Royal Palace and Castel Nuovo, a 13th-century castle.

Naples is the holy grail for pizza lovers

DESTINATIONS | THE AMALFI COAST

Sardinia

S ardinia is a large Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea with sandy beaches and a mountainous interior crossed with hiking trails. Its rugged landscape is dotted with thousands of nuraghi – mysterious Bronze Age stone ruins shaped like beehives. Carved into sheer cliffs, the scalloped bays of Costa Smeralda the ‘Emerald Coast’ of Sardinia truly live up to their name, with white sand beaches with breathtaking turquoise waters. Much of the Sardinian coastline is a dedicated nature reserve, with miles of beaches and grottos accessible only by boat.

Day 1 - Porto CervoPorto Cervo is a curious, artificial vision of Mediterranean beauty. In the Summer, it becomes an extraordinary procession of hundreds of yachts and famous personalities: it is quite likely that you will find yourself in the square, shopping with film stars and celebrities. Surrounded by the magnificent coastal scenery, the utopian village combines Greek, North African, Spanish and Italian architectural elements, and the overall effect is pseudo-Moorish with a touch of the Flintstones. Every day is a continuous stream of engagements with the international jet set: parties, social events, sports events, golf in particular. Porto Cervo offers some of the best restaurants like Gianni Pedrinelli, Cala di Volpe and Pitrizza as well as some of the most exclusive nightclubs in the world like Billionaire, Just Cavelli and Sottovento.

Day 2 - Isola Soffi, Isola Mortorio & Tiny IsolettiOne of our preferred areas is the cove of Pevero and Piccolo Pevero beach. It is much quieter and calmer here, making it a great place to set up

anchor. You can also moor in some of the most beautiful bays around the islands of Soffi & Mortorio, which are just a short cruise across from Pevero, & discover the fantastic wildlife & walking trails.

Day 3 - Tavolara & Molara IslandsSail through Cala Figari, Olbia Gulf and between the Islands Tavolara andMolara. In the 19th and 20th CenturyTavolara used to be the smallest Kingdom in the World, which

62 | www.royalyachtinternational.com

considering the Island is only 5km long and 1km wide is pretty astounding. When you arrive at Tavolara you can anchor in Spalmatore Bay, a great little place to see and spend a night in tranquil surroundings and enjoy the beauty of sea world. There is a restaurant on the beach called ‘King of Tavolara’ where you can enjoy some wining and dining fit for a king.

Day 4 - La Maddalena & Isola SpargiIn the translucent seas of the La Maddalena archipelago, you're in another world. It doesn't feel like the Mediterranean here. It feels like a more rugged version of the Caribbean. Suspended between Sardinia & Corsica, this scatter of seven large islands and 55 tiny isolotti has some of the most spectacular beaches in Italy with the cleanest & clearest water. One of Sardinia’s most ravishing

beauty spots, the Arcipelago di La Maddalena provides some spectacular, windswept seascapes. Nelson and Napoleon knew the archipelago well, as did that old warhorse Giuseppe Garibaldi, who bought Isola Caprera for his retirement. Another one of our treasured spots in La Maddalena is Cala Granara, which is located on the southeast side of the island of Spargi. Here there is a glorious beach, boasting ivory sand that is lined with Caribbean blue waters. You will find ultimate bliss at this secluded location that is only accessible by boat!

Our Recommendation: La Casitta or La Scogliera on the Maddalena Island during the day.

Day 5 - Budelli Islands, Razzoli & Cala SantaMariaBudelli has translucent waters, rose tinted sand and endless coves. This island is the home of the Sardinian treasure, the Spiaggia Rosa! The sand is a coral pink shade due to the shells and coral fragments turning the sand a floral colour. You will never forget this unique & idyllic looking beach, which you can only see from your yacht as it is protected. Another spot we would recommend is the Passo Secca di Morto, which is very close to the famous pink beach and where you can take in the maquis-scented air and admire the pink-granite boulders and inviting blue lagoon. This is a great place to swim, snorkel and practice your water sports, with clear and warm turquoise waters that sparkle in the sunlight! Then head to the islands of Razzoli and Santa Maria. At Razzoli you can visit CalaLunga, which is a stunning protected bay on the west coast of the island. It is characterized by its bright white sand and crystal clear water, as well as the orange-coloured granite that contrasts perfectly with the cerulean blue of the sea. This bay is ideal to set up anchor & watch the sun go down with a glass of champagne.

Day 6 - Cala Di VolpeThe Bay of the Fox’ is a deep bay, well protected and surrounded by beautiful

sandy beaches. It is actually a satellite of Porto Cervo to its immediate North. Its crowning feature is the spectacular “Hotel Cala di Volpe” at the end of the bay. The hotel, featured in “The Spy Who Loved Me”, is listed at number 7 in the world’s 15 most expensive hotel suites.

Our Recommendation: Pevero Golf Course

Famous for the clear and pristine waters, cruising this coast by yacht is truly special

In the evening, after sundowners on deck, head ashore for Michelin-starred dining before partying the night away at an exclusive club. Experience all this and so much more with French Riviera yacht charter.

Day 1 - MonacoThe principality of Monaco is built into the sweeping hills that surround the coastline, home to elite events such as the Monaco Grand Prix, it attracts the rich and famous to it’s great number of designer shops, vibrant bars & top restaurants. A must visit for those wishing to sample some of the best nightlife in the Riviera. Squeezed into just 200 hectares, this principality

might be the world’s second-smallest country, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in attitude. A magnet for high-rollers and hedonists since the early 20th century.

Day 2 - VillefrancheThe charming old town of Villefranche cascades down the hillside to the sea, and the sandy kilometre-long beach offers great recreation. Admire the picturesque view of the pastel-hued buildings of this ancient port nestling around the wide horseshoe shaped curve of the bay. A tender-ride will deliver you to the quayside where you won’t have to walk far to admire the frescoes of French writer and artist Jean Cocteau in La Chapelle St- Pierre, and then take a slow meander up through the maze of steep, narrow

medieval streets, stairways and squares of this 14th century town, which is guarded by the imposing Fort Saint-Elme. Then head back down to the quayside to dine on la bouillabaisse at La Mère Germaine.

Day 3 - CannesCannes, once a small fishing village but now a glamorous and expensive seaside town considered to be one of the social hubs of Europe. When in Cannes, do like the locals and take a late afternoon promenade along the mile-long Boulevard de la Croisette. Spend your time sipping coffee in one of the chic city cafés, enjoy a superb day of pampering at one of the exclusive spas or succumb to the temptation of the nearby casino. Dine on board or take the short drive

64 | www.royalyachtinternational.com

out of town to the verdant L’Oasis, where under the canopy of century-old plane trees you can partake in the delectable fusion of Mediterranean & Asian cuisine that has earned this restaurant 2 Michelin stars.

Day 4 - Iles de LerinsFind tranquility on L’iles De Lerins: cruise past red-roofed villas spilling down the hillsides to Iles de Lérins, a cluster of four islands near Cannes. Stop off at the inhabited Sainte Marguerite, dominated by the fort where Alexandre Dumas Incarcerated the ‘Man in the Iron Mask’ from his famous tale. In the afternoon head for the smaller southern island of Saint-Honorat, owned & inhabited by monks almost continuously since 410AD. Explore the abbey buildings, cloisters and fortress, or take a stroll through the pine & eucalyptus trees, breathing in the mix of lavender, wild daisies, rosemary & thyme.

Day 5 - St TropezSuccumb to beach life in Saint Tropez-filled with sunbathing celebrities, designer boutiques, and luxury yachts. It is hard to believe

this glamorous town was once just a humble fishing village. Anchor off vast and sandy Pampelonne Beach, synonymous with Brigitte Bardot and said to be the home of the bikini, and laze on its golden sands with the occasional dip in the sea. Then follow the boardwalks ashore to Madame de Colmont’s former beach hut, Club 55, where poisson froid washed down with some Pampelonne Rosé might be the order of the day. Spend a relaxing Afternoon on the beach or discover one of St Tropez's vineyards located around gorgeous estates offering property tours and tastings. Enjoy dinner at the sumptuous 5-star Chateau de la Messardière with a terrace overlooking the bay of Pampelonne

Day 6 - L’Ile PorquerolleRelax at L’ile De Porquerolles: leaving the glitz and glamour far behind head across the Gulf of Hyères to Porquerolles, a tranquil island whose upspoilt natural beauty is protected by law & where cars are banned. Take the tender ashore to Notre Dame beach for a lazy morning on the sands, and then after an invigorating picnic lunch take a cycle through cool forests of wind twisted parasol pines and traditional villages. Or, explore the rocky cliffs on the south shore from where you can gaze at the stunning color of the sea which fades from the brightest turquoise to sapphire blue. Dine at the Michelin-starred Restaurant L’Olivier in The wonderfully traditional hotel of Le Mas du Langoustier, sampling fine Provençal cuisine with a bottle of

Domaine de l’Ile de Porquerolles.

Day 7 - Cap FerratSt-Jean-Cap-Ferrat offers two pretty anchorages on either side of the peninsula, where you can laze on board while eyeing out the spectacular villas adorning the coast. Take the tender in to Paloma or Plage de Passable beach clubs for a long, relaxing lunch and then consider dining at Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat’s, Le Cap restaurant.

Day 8 - MonacoEnd on a high note in Monaco: breakfast on board as you head back to Monaco, where your day could be spent in any number of ways – having a spa treatment at Les Thermes Marins Monte-Carlo, or taking a short helicopter ride inland to Saint-Paul-de-Vence exploring the narrow cobble streets followed by a delicious lunch at the infamous Colombe D'or. End the day with an evening cocktail at Hotel de Paris’s American bar followed by dinner at Le Louis XV-Alain Ducasse.

Squeezed into just 200 hectares, Monaco might be the world’s second-smallest country

The Red Sea

T he East coast of the Red Sea is one of the last undiscovered lands, largely untouched and unexplored, a dream private yacht charter destination. It is one of the more special places where you can genuinely escape and make discoveries every day as you cruise your yacht from one secluded turquoise bay to the next, from one white sandy shored island to the next.

The diving is simply world class with thriving reefs that teem with marine life at every angle. It is immaculate isolation, total tranquillity. This underwater wonderland is home to a rich and biodiverse ecosystem, with rays, octopus, turtles and over a thousand species of fish living amongst a kaleidoscope of corals. To cruise here is to experience absolute freedom at the highest of standards. An almost secret destination that we can offer to you for one of the more luxury experiences available today.

Day 1 - Sindalah IslandAfter arriving at Neom airport, why not start your charter in style by transferring by helicopter from here to the nearby Sindalah island to join your yacht? CanyonCruise to the nearby Tayyib Al-ism. This mystical granite formation has been described as one of the natural wonders of Saudi Arabia, and it is no wonder. As you approach you will be stunned by this monolithic structure, rising 600 metres from the sparkling blue waters of the Gulf of Aqaba. Legends say that this is where Moses arrived after he parted the Red Sea. As you get closer you will see that this impressive mountain is split in two, revealing a narrow canyon which can only be explored on foot. A small

The beach at Umluj is postcard-pretty, but the main attraction is taking a boat to islands like Jabal Hassan, or relaxing at palm-covered coastal beaches such as Ras Al Shaaban and Doqm. From town, it’s possible to tour nearby mango farms or travel about an hour inland to Harrat Lunayyir. Here, discover a curious black lava field of craters and cones, which feels a world away from the dunes and turquoise waters of the coast.

This area is famous for clear water, moray eels, lionfish, barracudas, sand tiger sharks, and garden eels. Later on explore Wadi Tayyib, one of the magical natural wonders of Saudi Arabia, and walk down the scenic route down the canyon.

YACHT REPRESENTATION

Royal Yacht International is the appointed exclusive dealership representing DYNAMIQ Yachts in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and in the United Arab Emirates.

“Representing DYNAMIQ in the Middle East is a great opportunity for us, especially now with the current Saudi market booming as well as the upcoming Red Sea Vision that will soon be known globally as the new go-to yachting hub destination. I look forward to bringing the Dynamiq brand to these locations thanks to this strong new partnership.” – says Manuele Thiella, CEO of Royal Yacht International.

Dynamiq is a superyacht builder meeting the needs of intelligent buyers for next generation yachts: efficient, chic, easy to order and effortless to customise. It is the only

Italian shipyard building yachts completely engineered to the highest standards in the Netherlands.

Comfortable & Fast Displacement HullsDrawn by the leading Dutch naval architects Van Oossanen, Dynamiq’s fast displacement hulls feature a round-bilge shape for remarkably low resistance and low fuel consumption, while still being capable of high speeds.

The design decreases vertical accelerations, providing a far more comfortable motion when sailing. The avant-garde bow shape with a vertical stem maximises the waterline length, enhancing performance even

more.

To keep spray levels low, an integrated spray rail deflects water from hitting the bow area.

Innovative Solar ProtectionDynamiq yachts are fitted with next-generation laminated XIR glass that allows maximum light transmission while keeping solar heat gain at bay. Harmful UV rays are almost completely blocked, and heat transmission reduced by 40%.

The result is an interior with large deck-to-ceiling windows without the penalty of heat build-up.

This means significantly reduced air-conditioning loads and therefore lower running costs.

106 | www.royalyachtinternational.com

The glass manufacturer is Isoclima, an Italian high-tech company that also supplies glass for luxury automobiles such as Bentley, McLaren, Mercedes and BMW.

GoAnywhereRangeAll Dynamiq yachts have an ocean-going range of 3,000 miles+ at 10 knots and are perfectly equipped for long-range cruises, which means owners have the opportunity to enjoy two Seasons during the year (Mediterranean and Caribbean) and greater freedom navigating remote locations with no bunkering infrastructure.

They are equipped with high-capacity Miele marine fridges and freezers, cold garbage stores, separate laundry

facilities and plenty of storage space. Generous fresh-water tanks and powerful water-makers allow guests to spend long periods of time at sea in complete comfort.

The ShipyardDynamiq shipyard is located in the picturesque area of Massa on Italy’s Tuscan coast.

This modern and high-tech facility is well fitted out for building the full range of Dynamiq superyachts up to 50 metres in length with various power train options including hybrid technology.

The Dynamiq Yachts production facility offers the highest standards of working environment and quality control.

The latest addition to the Dynamiq fleet is the new Global series of long-

range explorer yachts designed on the EPIQ platform of Efficiency, Performance, Innovation and Quality.

“I simply believe we can pro pose something better that offers owners more choice: versatile yachts perfect for any occasion, whether it’s relaxing family cruising, vibrant deck parties and exploring the remotest destinations. Fast but with ocean-going range, easy to order and customise with top world brands,” – says founder and CEO Sergei Dobroserdov.

Silver Arrows Marine is a company born to challenge convention. Embracing automotive design and technology to offer a range of motor yachts unlike all others, innovation, engineering and reliability. The entire Arrows fleet has been designed in partnership with Daimler AG’s design arm, Mercedes-Benz Style. Challenging convention never looked so sleek. Automotive DNA extends far beyond styling in the Silver Arrows Marine motor yacht range. Cutting-edge technology and avant garde materials bring concept-car looks and features to the 14m motor yacht class. The range of Arrow460 yachts has expanded from the first Granturismo – famously described as the “Mercedes S-Class of the seas” – to

include the newest member of a very special family: the Cabrio range.

INTRODUCING THE ARROW460-CABRIOThe Cabrio is the newest Silver Arrow and is available in 3 versions: Classic, Sport and One Edition. Each one offers a bold and beautiful solution for those who seek an open 14m motor yacht of unique style, quality and comfort. The Cabrio’s exceptionally lithe looks introduce a new design language as the convertible sports car of the yachting world. Its seamless hull is long and low, its surfaces smooth and contours

perfectly rounded. Powerful feature lines instantly characterise the yacht as a member of the Mercedes-Benz design family. Inviting you on board is a spacious entertaining area behind a dramatically raked-back windscreen and console for the helmsman. The seating area, with space for guests, leads to steps up to a rear sundeck, all seamlessly integrated into the design. As with the Granturismo, an extending “terrace by the pool” in the stern is available for those who want even more deck area for relaxing. An innovative new T-top is designed to complement the lines of the yacht perfectly. The carbon-fibre composite frame allows for a range of hard- and soft-top options that provide protection from the sun whilst maintaining all the wind-in-the-hair appeal of a full convertible. As well as a choice of 3 Cabrio models, owners can create a bespoke version of the Arrow460-Cabrio through the company’s in-house personalisation division, Silver Arrows Bespoke.

ARROW460-CABRIO ONE EDITION: INSPIRED BY VISION 6The epitome of contemporary elegance, the Cabrio One Edition features the best materials available all hand-crafted to perfection. From

its extended T-top, to its sleek lines and innovative features, the yacht’s effortless sophistication sets it apart wherever in the world it sails. Natural materials feature strongly. The decking is teak, the upholstery trimmed in top-of-the-range marine leather, and every detail is carefully crafted. Virtually any colour hull is possible. Innovations from the 460-Granturismo in the areas of hi-tech boat handling systems, electronics, hydraulics, domotics and ergonomics all mark out the Arrow460-Cabrio Inspired by Maybach. Power systems can be 485 or 550. Silver Arrows Marine’s flagship Cabrio truly takes inspirational design and engineering to a new level of sumptuous indulgence.

ARROW460-CABRIO SPORT: INSPIRED BY MERCEDES-BENZ SPORT CARS As with Mercedes sports cars, the Arrow 460-Cabrio, inspired by AMG puts the emphasis firmly on performance. Inside and out, it emulates its 4-wheeled Sport version cousins with technical materials and precision craftsmanship. The White Pearl, Arrow460-Cabrio combines a subtle aggression with signature elegance. In keeping with the yacht’s performance focus, the standard T-top comes in its simplest form. The White Pearl hull is matched by technical detailing and carbon-look trim elements. Hi-tech and highly contemporary materials feature for the decking and the seating for an ambience that is as much concept car as yacht. Power options range from Yanmar 550 diesels to top of the range 650 MerCruiser petrol units.

ARROW460-CABRIO CLASSIC: INSPIRED BY MERCEDESThe Arrow Cabrio in Palladium Silver is inspired by Mercedes and personifies everything Silver Arrows Marine stands for –  in a form that allows the client to specify their own options. This makes it the most accessible of all the Arrow yachts. T-top, rear sunbeds, dining table, retractable swim platform, leather trim and various cabin options are among features that can be fitted. 370 and 440 Yanmar diesels are among the power options. What comes as standard on every Arrow460-Cabrio

is the quality, attention to detail and beauty of the sleek design.

SILVER ARROWS MARINE INDIVIDUALThe Individual Division is made-to-measure for the marine world, concentrating on powerboat projects from 7 to 32 metres. The division offers a flexible new approach to yachting personalisation by using the skills and already-developed processes and modular building blocks of the Silver Arrows Marine production method and customising them to the most exacting requirements. Accessing the company’s unrivalled pool of design and engineering expertise can realise owners’ dreams by delivering one-off yachts based on the current range that precisely meet needs and budget in the most cost-efficient and imaginative way possible.

“With an expanding range of Arrows products, the Individual Division will be able to share our innovations on a made-to-measure basis across a wider range of yacht sizes, designs and styles than ever before.”

Superfoils15. Inesse’s first project is hereThe first flying yacht in the world.

A NEW EXCLUSIVE DEALERSHIPRoyal Yacht International is happy to represent Inesse in Monaco and Saudi Arabia introducing this innovative creator of Superfoil yachts.

A NEW WAY TO EXPERIENCE THE SEAWe had a dream, and we believed in it. An innovative flying yacht good to go everywhere, with no limits and complete safety. Soon there will be a new group of people, made of visionaries, a community made by those who

sail the sea by flying. Will you be part of it?

COMFORTIt has never been so pleasant to ride a yacht. The SF15 glides over the waves thus ensuring one of the most comfortable experience onboard.

PERFORMANCEAs a daily cruiser, SF15 is one of the fastest in its category. Also, turning while cruising on foils gives the passengers a new experience of navigation. With a 52 knot top speed, the performances are comparable to a racing motorboat.

SAFEThanks to an advanced AI system, the SF15 ensures the safety of the passengers onboard and prevent accidents thanks to a semi-autonomous driving system.

SUSTAINABILITYThanks to the hybrid propulsion and the least resistance on the water, due to the sole immersion of the foils, fuel

consumption is reduced up to 50%.

SUPERFOILS15For a long time, high performances belonged to racing boats, while comfort was typical of motor-yachts. Superfoils15 is the first hydrofoil yacht in the world. Foils are a levelling system that matches performance, comfort and environmental awareness.

THE FOILSFoils represent the trademark of Superfoils15. Inesse rethought this system, used for the first time on the America’s Cup catamarans, implementing it with state-of-the-art technology and electronic controls. The foil system installed

on Superfoils15 is the most technologically advanced.

DESIGNElegant and powerful, SF15 is one of a kind. A 52’ Day Cruiser, with a full new mix of intuitive technology, design and aero and hydrodynamic studies and researches. These elements led to an iconic and original hull shape. Main and lower deck combine to create a unique experience, where the living spaces are finely crafted by Italian craftsmen, and the interiors are shaped into elegant and functional areas.

NEW CONSTRUCTION

A quick glance into the new build market

2021 Global Order Book

Superficially, this year’s Global Order Book (GOB) paints the picture of an industry in robust health, with 821 superyacht projects in build or ordered globally, an increase on last year’s number of 807. GOB data shows that superyacht production ground to a halt at times in 2020, with significant impacts on delivery schedules worldwide.

According to Boat International research, some 159 of those 821 projects should have been delivered before the GOB year-end of 1 September 2020. They are counted again because they are delayed and officially remain “in build”.

Covid-19, clearly, has played havoc with superyacht delivery schedules around the world.

Sanlorenzo tops the annual rankings of the Global Order Book, confirming its position as the world’s leading single-brand shipyard in the production of yachts and superyachts over 24 metres in length.

The explorer market, however, remains hot. With 64 explorers in build or ordered in this year’s GOB, an increase on last year’s 58 – and the most ever recorded. Two other yacht categories saw significant growth over last year’s figures. They are yachts with green credentials and support vessels, of which there are now six in build globally, from Australia to the Netherlands, and multihulls.

The number of active shipyards continues to climb. There was a big jump in the number of shipyards

building superyachts last year, from 151 the year before to 170. This year, that number has risen again, to 179. Five of these new yards are entirely new to the superyacht market, while four have appeared previously but fell inactive due to a lack of projects.

Interestingly, Damen, Heesen and Oceanco are all now building their flagships. Damen announced the signing of its first 100-metre-plus order this year; 120-metre Project Signature will be delivered in 2025. Heesen has completed the hull and superstructure of 80-metre Project Cosmos, delivery of which is expected in 2022. Oceanco, meanwhile, is engaged in building Project Y721, which we understand to be a 125-metre sailing yacht. Delivery of Y721 is slated for 2022.

Data shows that superyacht production ground to a halt at times in 2020, with significant impacts on delivery schedules worldwide.

Project Galileo² features storage for up to 25 tenders, submersibles and toys and boasts an outdoor cinema, hospital and 500 square metre pool. Key to this is the “space-age technology” wing masts which, at 80 metres tall, are covered in solar panels and allow the yacht to operate in “solar sail” mode in light wind conditions.

Project LFresh from the boards of French designer Thierry Gaugain is the “ultra-modern” 120 metre superyacht concept Project L.

Inspired by the “smooth form of a beach pebble”, Project L can be fully opened for a direct connection to the ocean.

Powered by a diesel-electric hybrid propulsion package, Project L is designed to “glide” through the water. Futuristic features include the likes of a high-tech underwater media room, drive-in tender garage and submarine escape pod.

Black SwanTurkish designer Timur Bozca is the brains behind this sinister-looking superyacht concept, which shuns convention and embraces dark tones through its minimalist interior. At 70 metres LOA, Black Swan is designed around its helipad, from which guests can descend into the interior via a concealed lift. Plenty of al fresco relaxation space is provided by the extended aft deck, complete with 12 sunloungers and an infinity pool, while two forward balconies provide unobstructed views out to sea. Triangular hull windows help to illuminate the interior, which includes accommodation for up to 12, split across a master suite and six guest cabins. Based in the Turkish coastal town of Kas, Timur Bozca leapt to prominence last year by winning the Young Designer of the Year Award at the ShowBoats Design Awards 2015. His entry, Project Cauta, was a 55 metre ketch design.
