REPORT ON ACTIVITIES CONDUCTED IN THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2017-2018 Bhavna Trust’s Junior & Degree College of Commerce & Science endeavors to create an environment, to mould the youth of India into excellent Indian citizens convinced of meaning & purposes of life imbibed with the nation’s plans & act as agents of change in a complex & challenging world at large. nation’s plans & act as agents of change in a complex & challenging world at

large. In the academic year 2017-18, The College Magazine team works to bring

out the annual official student-publication of Bhavna Trusts Degree College

Students.

Each year, team of editors, designers, photographers, and correspondents, in

addition to generating creative content from the student population, work

extensively to report on events in and around college.

The following activities were printed and published in the magazine:

REOPENING DAY :-

The academic year started on 15th June, 2017. Our President, Mr. Jayant

Bhavsar addressed in which he focused on various activities of college points like

Certificate of Minority Quota, SSC Result, Junior College Science & Commerce Result,

Renovation of building college campus in vacation, online school & college fees, NAAC

Accreditation etc. This year college is certified with the Minority Quota after the endless

two years efforts of our Director Madam, Mrs Meena Bhavsar. She was trying from 6th

June 2015 & her efforts got success on 6th June 2017. The next success is 100% SSC result,

90% 12th Science result & 81% 12th Commerce result. This year 2nd floor of college

building got renovated. NAAC Accreditation work is also in progress. Trustee Member

Mr. Keshavji Bhai Chadva also spoke few words & congratulated the staff on their

success. Both Dr.Mrs. Anjali Karandikar [Principal BTDC] and,Mrs.Pushpa Madam

[Principal Gujrathi Medium School] addressed to staff members & gave their wishes to

next upcoming year.

3RD INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY :-

On 21st June,2017 , 3rd International Yoga Day event was organized 3RD

INTERNATIONALYOGA DAY - 21ST JUNE 2017 was a great success in itself. Yoga is a

physical, mental, and spiritual practice attributed mostly to India. The Indian Prime

Minister Narendra Modi in his United Nations Address suggested the date of June 21st, as it

is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. International Day of Yoga, or

commonly and unofficially referred to as Yoga Day, is celebrated annually on June

21stsince its inception in 2015. On occasion of this auspicious day Bhavana College had

planned for celebration of Yoga day by organizing yoga session in the college for students

and teachers. Mrs. Ashwini D. Kulkarni, lecturer from our college, guided the students

with different ASANAS and explained their importance in everyone’s day to day life. There

was overwhelming response from the students and teachers and there was large

participation in this event. It was a great event and each and every student together with

our entire staff enjoyed the event to the fullest. Principal of college Mrs. Anjali

Karandikar and Mrs. Meena Bhavsar, Director addressed the staff and students on this

occasion and appealed them to inculcate yoga in their daily routine, not only to obtain

health benefits at physical level but also for overall well-being of one’s mind . The session

finished with Yoga prayers in Sanskrit conducted by Rupali Sinkar Madam.

WOMEN’S DEVELOPMENT CELL :-

As per the guidelines of the Vice-Chancellor of University of Mumbai, the College

has introduced a Women’s Development Cell in the academic year 2016-17. On 27th

June,2017, WDC meeting was held for the awareness of new female students. The Women’s

Development Cell (WDC) is a statutory body for the prevention/action against sexual

harassment of women. It looks into the grievances/complaints of teaching, non teaching

staff and students, especially in cases of gender discrimination. Objectives are as follows:-

• To create awareness of sexual harassment through guest lectures.

• To ensure protection of girls/women from sexual harassment studying/working in

the premises.

• To redress the cases of sexual harassment if any etc.

TREE PLANTATION DAY:-

Saplings Plantation Programme was celebrated by BTDC College in collaboration with

TISS . The Bhavna Trust College of Commerce and Science has proposed to plant at least

100 saplings at Vermi culture Project at Tata Institute of Social Science on Tuesday, 28th

June 2017. Around 41 students have actively participated in this activity. It was a

different experience for all of us. And Monsoon has added different adventure to this

programme.

THE “NUSSD ORIENTATION PROGRAMME” :-

This event was held at Tata Institute of Social Science(TISS), Deonar, on 8th July 2017,

Saturday. Resource Person were Mr. Tanmay Naik, Director ,Mrs. Gayatri Arvind, Chief

Operations Officer, Mrs. Sumitra Ramesh, Course Development Lead. The NUSSD

Vocational Education courses build student capacity to address key regional challenges and

opportunities in the nine states of the project.. Around 150 students of Bhavna Trust’s

Degree College had participated in this orientation. Students have come with their parents.

EMPLOYEABILITY ENHANCEMENT SEMINAR BY TREEZEC E SOLUTIONS:-

This event is conducted by Mr.Sharad Karnekar, Regional Head – West Pehla Job,

Treezec E Solutions Pvt.Ltd. The speaker put light on the points like Academic Score,

Technical Skills, Aptitude Test Cracking, Communication Skills, Domain Knowledge,

Foreign Language, Positive Attitude, External Factors which affect in getting jobs for the

job seekers etc. He discussed the current scenario of software industry , their

requirements, why interview is required? , right candidate for right job profile, expectation

gap between candidate & recruiter. Some android apps like Interview++ & internet sites

like indiabix.com, aptitudekings.com are shared with students to groom themselves for

Aptitude Tests.

FIRST YEAR ORIENTATION PROGRAMME :-

The event is the event of welcoming newly joined students to our college which belong to

all the streams. Mrs. Meena Bhavsar, [Director BTDC], Dr. Mrs. Anjali Karandikar,

[Principal BTDC], and Mr. Shamdhar Dubey [Vice Principal BTDC] graced the occasion.

The program started by traditional lightening of lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana.

Dr. Mrs. Anjali Karandikar madam addressed the new comers. Some of the new comers

spontaneously came and shared their feelings about the college.

FRESHER’S PARTY :-

Well-Come party or Fresher’s party was given by the Senior Degree students to Ist Year

Degree students. Party started with the introduction of new comers. Various games like

Reverse of Housie, Dum Share Arts, Passing the Passers, Jokes Telling were conducted.

Our Senior Degree Students arranged the party by themselves. They decorated the class

rooms beautifully and distributed the snacks at the end of the party.

GANESH IDOL MAKING :-

This competition was enthusiastically conducted in which our students have shown their

talent. The duration for idol making was 2 hrs. Timing was from 9.30AM to 11.30 AM.

Participation was individual OR in groups. Plastic and thermocol was not allowed.

Material used was eco friendly. Drawing of Ganesha was not allowed. Students from all

the stream s were selected as prize winners.

Garba :-

It is a Gujarati folk dance celebrated in Navratri, a celebration lasting nine nights. Garba

songs typically revolve around the subjects of Lord Krishna or the nine goddesses. Garba

event was very enthusiastically conducted in which our students have shown their talent.

Timing for event was from 11.30 AM to 1.30 PM. Students were profoundly enjoyed the

event with the equally enthusiasm with all teachers. Students were dressed traditionally

which gave a significant impact at the ambience of college.

SEMINAR ON PREPRATION FOR COMPETETIVE EXAM BY DHRUV ACADEMY:-

This event is conducted by DHRUV IAS ACADEMY which is the center for Civil Services

Examination Integrated Preparation Plan. Features of Dhruv IAS Academy are proven

success, exam oriented approach, experienced & inspired faculties, personal; guidance,

library & reading room facility, regular tests etc. Mr. VINOD DESHPANDE, Mr.

BHARAT DONGRE of DHRUV IAS ACADEMY conducted the session for all Degree

College Students. They informed the students about preparation for UPSC, MPSC, IAS

EXAM. There are various job opportunity in govt. sector, students should prepare

themselves for this exam and serve the nation. The session was very fruitful to students &

eye opener for them as well.

DIYA DECORATION COMPETITION :-

It was enthusiastically conducted in which our students have shown their talent. The

duration for diya making was 1 hrs. Timing was from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Participation was individual. Students have shown a lots of creativity in this competition.

From all the streams students response was very good. Many of them Students were

selected as prize winners.

SEMINAR BY NATIONAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION [NSDC] :-

National Skill Development Corporation India (NSDC) is a not-for-profit company set up

by the Ministry of Finance, under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956 corresponding to

Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2. NSDC acts as a catalyst in skill development by

providing funding to enterprises, companies and organizations that provide skill training.

NSDC is committed to bridging the skill gap by partnering with institutes of repute in

order to give youth a solid foundation for success. Mr. Jayprakash & Mr. Vijay delivered

address to our students in which they focused on the various courses which will give them

100% placement, govt .certificate. Students showed the keen interest in this session.

ADITYA BIRLA (CAPITAL) ORIENTATION & INTERVIEW :-

This event is conducted by Mr. DUSHANT THAKUR, Mr. RAHUL ARYA, Mr.

DEBANJAN CHATTERJEE on behalf of ADITYA BIRLA CAPITAL for all Degree

College Students.. Their internship program consist of parameters which include class

room training, soft skill training, live market exposure , outdoor educational visits, on floor

projects and on fields tasks to be accomplished. Initially we had a list of 50 students

(B.COM and BMS) from our college, but only 25 students were shortlisted for the

internship program in ADITYA BIRLA (CAPITAL). They will provide certificate after the

completion of Internship Program. This will help our students to boost their knowledge

and will get good opportunity in future.

TEACHERS TRAINING PROGRAM BY NIIT:-

This event is conducted by NIIT, Ghatkopar. NIIT Limited is an Indian Multinational

company that offers learning management and training delivery solutions to corporations,

institutions and individuals. Bhavna College also decided to participate in NIIT’s

Teachers Training Program & was conducted it successfully in two parts. BCOM & BMS

teachers training was conducted on the topic ‘TALLY WITH GST’. BSc. CS & IT

teachers training was conducted on the topic ‘ANDROIDE PROGRAMMING’. It was 6

hours hands on training. NIIT’s professional expert faculties conducted very informative

& effective training for our teachers. Our management takes keen interest in self

development of every teacher & putting efforts for the teachers by conducting such kind of

activity by the well known institution. All teachers are rewarded with the participation

certificate by NIIT.

ADD-ON COURSE ON ETHICAL HACKING & DIGITAL FORENSIC :-

This event was the ongoing activity conducted by Shah & Anchor Engineering College. 40

hours Ethical Hacking training program was designed by SAKEC. The duration of this

course was from 17TH JULY, 2017 – 21ST AUGUST , 2017, thrice a week [Thursday, Friday,

Saturday] .Dr. Mrs Nilaxi Jain, Assistant Prof. Mr. Dvaniket Kamble, Assistant Prof. Mrs.

Sonali Bhutada and Assistant Prof. Mrs Vaishali Hirekar were one of the professional expert

professors from SAKEC were conducting this course in our college. The students will be

rewarded the certificate for successful completion of this course.

CERTIFICATE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY OF ADD-ON COURSE ON ETHICAL

HACKING & DIGITAL FORENSIC:-

The course ADD-ON COURSE ON ETHICAL HACKING & DIGITAL FORENSIC was

successfully conducted by SAKEC , for which the certificate distribution ceremony was

conducted by BTDC. The chief guest was Principal Dr. Bhavesh Patel of SAKEC who

honored our students with the appreciation certificate on successful completion of this

course. Principal Dr. Bhavesh sir’s talk was very inspirational for our students. To make

the moment more happier, our Principal Dr. Mrs Anjali Karandikar presented bouquet

as token of respect & love to our Chief Guest and gave vote of thanks on behalf of Bhavna

College.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO PUNE & MAHABALESHWAR

Bhavna Trust’s Junior & Degree College of Commerce & Science had organised an

Industrial Visit on 7/09/2017 to 09/09/2017 to Pune and Mahabaleshwar for the students of

IT, BCOM, B.M.S and C.S. The visit was organised with the prior permission and

guidance of Hon. President Mr.Bhawsar and Director Mrs.Bhawsar. Prof Mrs.Rupali

Sinkar and Mrs.Ritu Sharma were in charge lecturers for this whole visit.

ADD-ON COURSE ADVANCED EXCEL BY NIIT :-

The event is the ongoing activity conducted by NIIT, Ghatkopar. NIIT Limited is an

Indian Multinational company that offers learning management and training

delivery solutions to corporations, institutions and individuals. It has three main lines of

business worldwide: Corporate Learning Group (CLG), Skills and Careers Group (SNC),

and School Learning Group (SLG). 16 hours advanced excel training program is designed

by NIIT to cater the needs of BCOM, BMS & Junior college students IT skills. The

duration of this course is from 6th December 2017 to 6th January 2018 , thrice a week

[Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday] .

BEST TEACHERS AWARD :-

This event was conducted by Dr. Y. A. Matcheswalla’s Happy Minds invited Director Mrs.

Meena Bhawsar, Principal Dr. Anjali Karandikar and teachers of BHAVNA TRUST

COLLEGE for Annual Teaching and Learning Symposium which was held from 9 am to

4:30 pm on Dec 2, 2017 at Tejpal Auditorium, Nana Chowk, Near Cumballa Hill, Mumbai

26. There were many participants from South Zone of Mumbai and only one from

suburban i.e. BHAVNA TRUST COLLEGE. Principal Dr Anjali Karandikar graced the

occasion as a chairperson and speaker for the first Session. The topics were Peer Pressure

Bullying and Addiction. Out of 2000 Teachers who participated, five teachers were

selected as Best Teachers. Our Vice Principal Mr. Shyamdhar Dubey was nominated and

selected as one of them. In the final round our Vice Principal Mr. Shyamdhar Dubey was

selected as the Best teacher.

ONE DAY PICNIC TO AQUA IMAGICA AMUSEMENT PARK :-

Every year the management of Bhavna trust degree college organizes picnic and

educational excursions for providing relief and relaxation after hard work of academics

and long examination schedule for students and teachers of the college. This year also a

one-day picnic was organized On 18th December 2017 to “AQUA IMAGICA “water

amusement park, Khopoli. The AQUA IMAGICA amusement park is a beautiful place

surrounded by hills, green natural environment and state of art facilities. The students

enjoyed thrilling rides, slides, wave pool, drifting river, rain dance and many other games

.The teachers of the college kept a close watch so as to avoid any untoward incident along

with the staff of the park. Tasty delicious vegetarian buffet lunch and evening refreshment

were provided by the Aqua Imagica staff. The students left the amusement park at 5.30 pm

and reached the college premises at 7.30 pm safely.

SKILL ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITY:-

Techno Serve received the Citi Foundation's 2016 India Innovation Grant for the Creating

Employment and Empowerment through Youth Development (CREEYD) project. The

partnership will train and prepare 1,250 youth from underprivileged backgrounds in

Mumbai towards improved career trajectories. Many college students from

underprivileged backgrounds face significant challenges in securing formal sector

employment due to a lack of critical skills in addition to inadequate job placement and

counseling facilities. Techno Serve’s structured intervention model makes the entire suite

of employability services available to students through Career Centers within college

premises, implementing deep engagement with students and effective outreach.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP :-

A blood donation camp was organized by Bhavna trust degree college for the students on

23rd December, 2017. More than fifty students overwhelmingly participated in this blood

donation drive. The blood donation camp was organized by the NATIONAL SERVICE

SCHEME (NSS) department of the college with the support of Sir J.J. Mahanagar blood

bank which is approved by Maharashtra state Govt. The blood bank is managed by state

blood transfusion council. A team of experts under guidance of Dr.Prasad Patil and PRO

Neeta Dange was presented to guide and encourage the students. Every Year Bhavna

Trust Degree College conducts various educational and social programs like cleanliness

movement, tree plantation, public awareness, traffic control, adopting slums, senior citizen

recreation etc. which receives a huge response from the students and the residents of the

area. All these initiatives are conducted under the guidance and encouragement of the

Director Mrs. Meena Bhavsar and Principal Dr. Mrs. Anjali Karandikar.

BHAVNA TRUST NSS UNIT

Bhavna Trust College received the permission letter from the university of Mumbai NSS

Department to start one NSS UNIT ON 10TH JULY 2017. NSS UNIT of 50 students

comprising of 30 boys and 20 girls from the first yearstudents of bcom,bms,bsC it and bsc

cs departments was formed. The NSS unit consists of 11 SC, 4 OBC and 35 other student

volunteers as per the guidelines issued by the university NSS department. Prof. shailesh

arondekar and prof. pratiksha pawar were appointed as NSS programme officers.

Bhavna Trust DLLE Unit

This year Bhavna Trust Jr & Degree College of Commerce and Science started

Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) unit of 26 students. Accordingly 2

Professors were appointed as DLLE programmme officers. Prof Ankita .S. Gawade and

Prof Prachi .A. Yerpude attended the DLLE
