HISTORY

Realising the need and importance of education some well wishers of Muslim Ummah at Faizabad

conceived of establishing such a school which would impart both religious and scientific education to

the students. Thus in 1952 (late) Haji Muhammad Basheer owner of renowned Star Bakery and (late)

Muhammad Is’haque (Alig.) laid the foundation of the school of their dream at Moghalpura in a clay

tiled-roofed room and a small veranda.

Initially the number of students was not more than a few score. In 1960, a young, dynamic and

dedicated-to-the cause of education-person, and a highly revered and venerated personality of the city,

Hafiz Abdul Hafeez (presently Nazim-e-Darsgah) joined this school. His continuous struggle against

all odds, his personal sufferings and sacrifices for the cause of the school, his painstaking efforts to

raise the teaching standard and to transform it in the most modern institution of the city culminated in

what we see today in the form this grand school. (Late) Haji Muhammad Rafeeq , the younger brother

of (late) Haji Muhammad Basheer purchased a piece of land in Moghalpura Mohallah for the school.

Their contributions to the construction of the building can never be ignored. May Allah (swt) reward

them bountifully in Akhirat and give them Ajr-e- Azeem. Amen!

The reputation and progress of any nation depends upon the academic standard of its people. No

illiterate or ill educated society can prosper, develop or sustain itself in this rapidly mutating age of

science and technology.

If we want to excel in any field we have to make best and fullest use of our time. We should not while

away our days and nights in useless gossips or worthless activities. People of the nations, which lead

the world and have made tremendous progress in science and technology, don’t waste their time. They

utilise it worth its every second.

We at this school try to inculcate in our students the habit of utilizing their time in studying and

expanding their knowledge. We provide them such an atmosphere where they can compare themselves

with rest of the world and gauge where they stand in this competitive world.

No school can progress unless it introspects itself for its short comings and defects off and on. In order

to judge and evaluate our teaching standards, we invite experts from other prominent schools and

eminent personalities of different subjects whose remarks and comments are thankfully acknowledged

and suggestions gratefully incorporated in our future plans.

We aim at multifaceted and all round development of children. Be it their intellectual, moral, cultural

or spiritual development, we pay attention to each and every aspect of these fields and provide a

suitable and healthy atmosphere for all these faculties.

Our focus is to build character and instil Islamic values in the hearts and minds of our children. We aim

at making them true Muslim who can serve their community and motherland with utmost honest,

dedication and commitment. Only fear of Allah can prevent us from evils prevalent these days in our

societies.

darsgahcollege.org 3

Besides raising academic standard of the students, the school provides them best possible facilities in

games and sports, cultural activities and co-curricular activities. The school celebrates National

Festivals involving all its students and staff with great enthusiasm in order to instil the spirit of

nationalism among students.

The school organises programmes for psychometric evaluation of students to test their abilities,

interests and aptitudes. Professional counselling and guidance of students for their career is an integral

part of our school.

Regular training and orientation of teachers is a regular feature of our school. We organise training

session, orientation workshops in which experts in various fields are invited to benefit from their

experiences and deliberations.

Last but not the least we would like to congratulate the entire team of this school for their efforts to

make the school a grand success.

In order to transform our teaching methodology we are introducing Brainy Stars Concept of TLM

based on Montessori system of education but in Islamic environment. For this we have made a three

year agreement with them.

We may train them in as many social and physical sciences as may wish but if they lack moral values

they are no better than beasts. An educated but immoral person is a stigma on the face of our society.

He proves bane rather than boon. They are corrupting and vitiating the whole society. The scenario is

that the society is more losing than gaining from these immoral and corrupt educated people who call

themselves: elite”!

That is why one of our major aims is also instilling high moral values among our students. The society

today necessarily needs men of good character. To some extent, we may compromise with the quality

of education – though it is in our remotest thoughts- but we will never compromise with morality-

which is basis of civilisation.

Introduction

Darsgah-e-Islami Inter College is a very old college situated at Mughalpura in the heart of Faizabad

city. The location on the map is 26046”N and 8209”E. It provides qualitative modern, and Islamic

education in Hindi and English medium to the children of Faizabad without any religious, linguistic or

racial discrimination.

The school is an example of fine amalgamation of spiritual and moral values of Islam with the fast

changing scientific and modern world and aims at bringing about an all round development of the

students. Unlike most other public schools mushrooming at Faizabad, profiteering has never been its

motive. The founders of the school have established it with a missionary spirit. It caters to the needs of

the educationally backward, poor and downtrodden sections of the society- especially the Muslims

This school is recognized for boys up to Intermediate in Arts, Science and Commerce streams. The

subjects for which recognition is granted are as following-

Arts Stream: Hindi, Eng, Urdu, Arabic, Sociology, History, Geography, Economic, Civics and Art.

4

darsgahcollege.org 4

Science Stream : Gen Hindi, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Mathematics

Commerce Stream: Hindi and all papers of Commerce.

Medium of Education: Hindi and English

There is co-education up to 5th Standard but from 6th standard onwards girls are taught by lady

teachers in a separate block exclusive for girls. We follow the syllabus of U P Government from class

First onwards. Besides this, teaching of Holy Qur’an, Basic Islamic Fiq’h, Life History of Prophet

Muhammad (P.B.U.H.), Khulafa-e-Rashideen etc. is imparted with a view to providing the students

with the basic Islamic knowledge inculcating high moral and spiritual values among them. The school

finally aims at preparing the students to live according to the Islamic teachings and be successful in

both their worlds i.e. Duniya and Akhirah.

Scholarship:

Students from class 1st onwards are eligible for Prematric and Postmatric Scholarships as per extant

Government Rules. They have to complete all formalities if they desire to avail themselves of this

facility.

Our Goal

1. To impart qualitative modern education.

2. To emphasize on the correct teaching of Qur’an Nazira.

3. To impart teaching in an Islamic environment to the students and to arm them with the basic and

most essential knowledge of Islam so that they can live in accordance with the Islamic Shariah, which

is a must for their Nijat in the akhirah. Besides, to adorn them with the pearls of Islamic moral and

spiritual values to make them perfect men. Thus, empowering them to serve the community and the

society by making them an honest, responsible and ideal citizen whom the posterity would cherish.

4. To teach Arabic as a living and modern language to enable students to read, write and speak Arabic

without any hesitation and difficulty. Thus they would be able to comprehend most of the Islamic

literature directly. The knowledge of Arabic would make comprehending the holy Qur’an an easy and

practicable task. “Holy Qur’an is not for only recitation but for practising it in our lives which is not

possibleunless we understand it.”

Methodology

We follow the play- way method of teaching. In this method the child is at the focal point. Individual

attention is paid to all the students. Their individual differences, interests, aptitude and instincts are

taken into account and given due respect.

The school is equipped with sufficient teaching aids- some conventional such as charts, models, maps

and some modern such as Internet, Computer, TV, Multimedia Projector, VCR and a handsome

number of educational Audio-visual CDs/Cassettes.

Remedial extra classes for week students are organised regularly. Besides, the school regularly

organises teachers’ training camps/refresher courses for keeping them abreast of the latest trends and

5

techniques of teaching. We would like to draw your special attention to our methodology of teaching

the Holy Qur’an (Nazira), which is radically different from the traditional system of teaching Nazira

adopted by madarsas . We make extensive use of black board in teaching Holy Qur’an. All the basic

rules essential for reciting Holy Qur’an correctly with Tajweed are explained visually using blackboard.

No cramming of words is encouraged. Instead, ability to read the Qur’an is developed by teaching a

few small surahs only. After that child is able to read the Qur’an without any problem. Of course, speed

comes through practice and not by just learning rules and few examples.

To improve standard of functional English, from next academic session (2018-19), we are introducing

Language Lab where the children shall learn and gain mastery over spoken English through interactive

programme on personal computers. Each student will be provided a computer machine to learn English.

In our plan is also a well equipped Maths Lab where, students, right from class 1st onwards shall learn

Maths through various activities. Mathematics -which is regarded as a boring and dull subject will no

longer be treated so, any more.

We have established smart classes in two classrooms and plan to extend it to ten more classrooms in

coming session in-shaw-Allah.

Though to some extent we also believe in “Spare the rod and spoil the child” yet we have spared the

rod but to others utter disbelief and astonishment we haven’t spoiled the child. We have only spared the

rod, not the child, who always remains in our constant vigil and guidance and wherever and whenever

he slips, we are there to hold and guide him to the right path.

Session: The academic session runs from April to March
