Appendix IIITHE ISLAMIC GOVERNMENT:KHALIFATE OR IMAMATE?By: Ustad Abdus Samad

Muslims around the world have topray at least five times a day; and inevery prayer, they have to recite theSalawat Ibrahimiyya (Tashah-hud), thisway:

“Allahom-ma Sal-li AlaaMoham-madin wa Alaa AaaliMoham-madin, Kama Sal-laitaAlaa Ibrahi-ma wa Alaa AaliIbrahim, fil Aalamina; In-na-ka Hamidom Majeed!”

“O, Allah! Bless TheeMohammad and Aali Mohammad(his Household) as Thou HathBlessed Ibrahim and hisHousehold, amongst the peoplesof the world; Verily Thou Artmost Praiseworthy, mostGracious.”

But . . . Surprisingly enough, very few

Muslims know, or even they try toknow, the Aali Mohammad (A.S.) or thepeople for whom they ask Allah’sblessings, so many times a day!

1

The question is:Who are the Aali Mohammad

(A.S.)? What is their role in Islam, and in the Islamic Society? Why do wehave to include them in our dailyprayers (Namaz or Namaste, as the non-Arab Muslims call it)? And why, without including them in the SalatWajiba, our prayers are not acceptedby Allah (S.W.T.)?*

Historical BackgroundTo understand more about Prophet

Mohammad’s Household, who are alsoknown as the Ahlal Bayt, or AaliMohammad, we have to go back into thehistory; and to reduce the chances ofany doubts, we shall try to get light, straight from the Holy Qur’an, whichis the foundation of the IslamicFaith:

“And when Allah tested(Prophet) Ibrahim by some“Words” and he completed (thetest), Allah said: Now Iappoint thee, Imam of thepeople. (Prophet Ibrahim)Said: and how about mydescendants? (Allah) Said: MyPromise won’t be for the

2

sinners (among them).” HolyQur’an: (2:124).

As we can see, here Allah(S.W.T.) granted the request of thePatriarch Abraham to bestow Imamah(Imamhood or the Spiritual Leadership)on his righteous descendants, too.(Not the sinners, because the sinfulpeople can’t become the AuthorizedImams of the Ummah, or the Olil Amr,as we shall see later. So the Imams ofthe Abrahamic Religions, i.e. Judaism,Christianity, and Islam, must beimpeccable and infallible.)

Who are They? But, who are the righteous

descendants of the Prophet Abraham(A.S.)? Well, those who, according tothe Holy Qur’an, were granted Imamahor the Leadership of the People of theBook, namely: Isma’il, Is-haq, Yaqub,Yusuf, Dawoud, Solaiman, Moses, Jesus, and finally the last Prophet of Allah–our very own beloved Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H).

They are the righteous childrenof the Prophet Abraham (A.S.) or theAali Ibrahim, who received the Imamah

3

or the God given leadership over thebelievers (Olil Amr i.e. “Those withDivine Authorization.”) Now, thereare two very important questions to beanswered, here:

1. Who are the Aali Mohammad, forwhom we pray, everyday, togetherwith the Aali Ibrahim, saying:

“O Allah! Bless Thee (also)the Aali Mohammad (the same way)as Thou Hath Blessed the AaliIbrahim?” (At-ta-hiyyaat, DailySalats).

2. How did Allah (S.W.T.) blessAali Ibrahim, that we ask Him toalso Bless the Aali Mohammad, exactly the same manner?

The second question has beenanswered by Allah (S.W.T.) in thisverse from the Holy Qur’an, that says:

“Are they (?) jealous of thepeople (?) for what Allah Hathgiven them from His Grace? While We already gave the AaliIbrahim the Book and theWisdom and We gave them aGreat Possession!” Holy Qur’an(4:54).

4

So, what was given by Allah(S.W.T.) to Aali Ibrahim, was TheBook, The Wisdom and a GreatPossession! (Both material as well asspiritual – the leadership of theUmmah or becoming the Olil Amr, in thesociety of God!).

Who are the Aali Mohammad? With regard to the first

question, i.e. “Who are the AaliMohammad?” Some people have tried, invain, to interpret the Aali Mohammadas the followers of Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H.)! (See some so-called prayerbooks published in some half-bakedMuslim communities, who havetranslated the above mentioned prayer,Allahoma… as: “O’ Allah! Bless TheeMohammad and ‘followers of Mohammad’as you have blessed Ibrahim and‘Family of Ibrahim’”! Well, just inone line of Arabic sentence there aretwo different meanings for “Aal-Mohammad” and “Aal-Ibrahim”?! Is thatfair? This reminds me of the jokeabout “one roof and two climates”! Forthe fools it may work, but not for thewise believers or as the Holy Qur’ancalls them: The Olol Al-baab.)

5

But, the correct answer is that:Every Aali Mohammad is also a followerof the Prophet Mohammad, but not everyfollower of the Prophet Mohammad, isnecessarily an Aali Mohammad, too!

Specifically, the followingpoints should be considered verycarefully:

a) If we go to the Arab tribesmenand ask them what do they meanby “Aali so and so,” when theyrefer to a clan or a tribe, wewill see that “Aal” refers onlyto the “children of a certainchieftain.”

b) In the Qur’anic terminologyalso, except for one or twonegative cases, like Aali Firaon(Pharoa’s clan/followers), theterm “Aal” is used to mean thechildren or the descendants of aperson. Examples are: (1) AaliIbrahim, (2) Aali Is-haq, (3)Aali Yaqub, (4) Aali Dawoud, (5)Aali Imran, (6) Aali Yasin, (7)Aali Nooh, (8) Aali Musa, (9)Aali Haroon, etc., etc.

6

In the Hadith and the Islamicprayers, also, the terms Aali Taha,Aali Yasin, Aali Mohammad have alwayshad this particular meaning. (Even inthe history of Islam, such terms asAali Mohammad, Aali Ali, Aali Fatimah,Aali Abbas, etc, refer to thedescendants of those respectablepersonalities).

In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today (Do we have any Kingdom inIslam, in the first place?) there aretwo top ruling classes 1) The AaliSaud, the children of King Saud (1876-1953AD), who export theirFundamentalist Wahhabi Islamthroughout the world, with their Arab-American or ARAMCO Dollars, and 2) TheAali Sheikh, the children of SheikhAbdul Wahhab, who started Wahhabism in18th century, in Saudi Arabia. So,even to the Wahhabis of Saudi Arabia, the word “Aal” means descendants; thenwhy do their blind followers (theSalafi, the Taliban, the Al-Shabab,etc.) still claim that Aal Mohammad(S.A.W.) means his followers, not hisdescendants? A double standard, evenin the dictionary?

7

Prophet Mohammad Left No SonSome people say: But Prophet

Mohammad (P.B.U.H.) left no male childafter him, because his two sons,Ibrahim and Qasim, both died in theirearly childhood; then where are thechildren of the Prophet, to become theAali Mohammad?

Well, that was exactly what someunbelievers of Mecca said, during thelifetime of the Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H.). According to theircalculations, the Holy Prophet had noson, to carry his name after him, andthat he was an “Abtar” or without adescendant.

But, Allah (S.W.T.) answeredthem back, in a very short, yet, strongly worded Surah of the HolyQur’an, this way:

“In the Name of Allah theBeneficent, the Merciful.*Verily We have given thee (O’Mohammad!) the “EverIncreasing One.” Then pray tothy Lord and do sacrifice.Surely, thy enemy’s tail iscut off! (=childless).” HolyQur’an (108:1-3).

8

Though Allah (S.W.T.) took thesons of Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.),yet, He left for him a blesseddaughter – Fatimah Zahra (Kauthar or“Ever Increasing One”) who is alsoknown as the “Sayyidato Nisa-ilAalamin” (The Lady of all Women of allAges). She is also honored by theMuslims as, “Sayyidato Nisa-e-AhlilJannah” (The Lady of all the women ofHeaven).

Thus, Prophet Mohammad’sdescendants or the Aali Mohammad, continued, not through a male child, but through Sayyida Fatimah, and herbeloved husband, Imam Ali. (Just likeProphet Eisa (A.S.) or Jesus, who isthe son of Prophet David A.S. throughSayyida Maryam A.S.).

To know how the children of ImamAli and Fatimah Zarha are also called“Children of Prophet Mohammad,” wehave to refer to the Holy Qur’an, oncemore.

Mubahala or the SpiritualConfrontation

9

When the Christian leaders ofYemen (Arabia Felix) came to the HolyProphet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.), and afterlong debates, they still did not wantto accept the truth of Islam, Allah(S.W.T.) ordered the Holy Prophet todo the “Mubahala” or the spiritualconfrontation, with them!

“Say (O’ Mohammad!) let’snow call our sons and yoursons, our women and yourwomen, ourselves andyourselves and then let’s askAllah to destroy (curse) theliars!” Holy Qur’an (3:61).

All Muslim historians, withoutexception, say that in that “spiritualconfrontation of Islam vs.Christianity” there were only fivepeople present: They were ProphetMohammad himself, Imam Ali, FatimahZahra, Imam Hassan and Imam Hosain(A.S.).

(From this very Ayah we alsounderstand that whenever there is aconfrontation between the holy familyof the Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.) andothers, the opposite camp belongs tothe unbelievers and the liars upon

10

whom is the curse and the Anger ofAllah (S.W.T.)! So, what will you saynow about the battle of Karbala, between Imam Hosain and Yazid? Howabout Imam Ali vs. Moawia? Or ImamHassan vs. Moawia? Etc.?).

Here, some interesting questionsarise. For instance, that Allah’sorder was “let us bring our sons, andyou also bring your sons, we willbring our women and you, too, bringyour women, and you come yourselvesand we shall come ourselves!”

Question No. 1. Who were the sons thatthe Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.)brought with him?Answer: Imam Hassan and Imam Hosain.(Does that answer our opponents’question, fairly enough?)

Question No. 2. Who represented thewomen on the side of Islam?Answer: Fatimah Zahra.

(Now why the Holy Prophet did notinclude any one of his own wives inthat crucial confrontation of Islamvs. Kufr? The best answer would be

11

that he was just carrying out theOrder of Allah S.W.T.)*

Question No. 3. Who represented the“selves” in Allah’s command, asidefrom Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.)himself?Answer: The man who slept in place ofProphet Mohammad when he migrated fromMecca to Madinah; He who representedthe Holy Prophet as the governor ofYemen, and he who took the Prophet’splace when he left Madinah to fightthe Romans, and finally, he whose ablehand, the Holy Prophet raised in thelast sermon, from his last trip toHaj, in last days of his life on thisearth, and declared: “To whom I was aLeader (Maula) this Ali is a Leader(Maula). Allah! Love those who lovehim, and denounce those who denouncehim; Help those who support him, anddestroy those who deny him”. He wasnone but Imam Ali Bin Abi Talib.

Now, we have the completepicture of the first generation of theAali Mohammad or the Household of theHoly Prophet (P.B.U.H.).

12

And what is the position of thisHousehold or the Ahlal Bayt, in theEyes of Allah (S.W.T.)? Well, let’sask Him, again.

In the Holy Qur’an, Allah (S.W.T.)reminds:

“Truly, Allah wants tokeep away (all kinds of)impurities from You, O,Household (of the Prophet) andto purify You perfectly.”Holy Qur’an (33:33)

Some people argue that thisverse includes the wives of the HolyProphet (P.B.U.H.) also; But as we sawbefore, they were not present at theMubahala, or the confrontation ofProphet Mohammad’s Household vs. theChristians of Nadjran. The HolyProphet should know Allah’s ordersbetter than anyone else.

(Of course, all Muslims mustrespect the wives of Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H.) as their spiritual mothers, but here we are searching for the AaliMohammad/Descendants of the Prophet, and not his wives – may Allah blessthem all). **

13

The Role of Aali Mohammad (A.S.)After knowing the Aali Mohammad

or the Ahlal Bayt, now the nextquestion will be: So what if they arethe Aali Mohammad (P.B.U.H.)?

The answer is that: If they arethe Aali Mohammad, then they will havethe authority as well as someresponsibilities over their shoulders,as did Aali Ibrahim, Aali Dawoud, etc.in Previous time; And we also, as thefollowers of Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H.) will have some obligationsto them, in the same manner that thefollowers of Prophets Ibrahim, Dawoud,(A.S.) etc. had in the previous ages. This belief is confirmed in thefollowing verses of the Holy Qur’an:

“Such has been the wayAllah dealt with the peoplebefore, and you won’t ever seeAllah change His Way!” HolyQur’an (33:62).

“This is the way of thoseProphets We sent before you,and you won’t find any changesin Our Way” Holy Qur’an(17:77).

14

“Allah’s Way will neverchange, Allah’s Way won’talter.” Holy Qur’an (35:43),etc.

Their Role is ImamahEvery Muslim believes that the

Holy Qur’an is the last of theHeavenly Books, and that the ProphetMohammad (P.B.U.H.) is the lastProphet or the Khatamon Nabiy-yin(A.S.).

In the same manner, thenecessity of Imamah or the spiritualleadership of the Muslims after thedeath of Prophet Mohammad, cannot bedenied by anyone who knows Islam evena little.

For centuries, all Muslims haveagreed (Ijmaa) that a Muslim has tohave a Madh-hab, with which he willfollow the correct Fiqah or theIslamic Jurisprudence; and the head ofthat Madh-hab is called Imam(Spiritual Leader).

That’s why in Islam, we have thefollowing Madh-habs and theirrespective Imams:

15

1. Madh-hab Hanafi, which isheaded by Imam Abu Hanifa Bin ThabitBin Marzban, whose origin is fromIran, and who is the greatest of allImams (Imam Azam); * (Born 80 A.H.Died 150 A.H.).

Here, let us quote the Muslim scholar,H.M. Ahmad:

“Imam-e-Azam, Abu Hanifa (699 to767 A.D.): Iranian by blood, he wasborn at Kufa (or Koppah in Persian, meaning “Hills,” now situated inpresent day Iraq) in 80 A.H. and hedied in 150 A.H. in Baghdad.” (thewinter capital of the Sassanid Empireof Persia; Actually the name Baghdaditself comes from the two Persianwords of Bagh = god, like Baghwan, andDad = given, meaning God given City, which is now the capital of modern dayIraq).

(see “Namaz and IslamicEssentials” by the Sunni MuslimScholar of India, Haji Moinuddin AhmedI.A.S. (Retd.), Kitab BhavanPublishers, New Delhi, India, 1992,p.80)

16

2. Madh-hab Maaliki, lead by ImamMaalik, (Born in Medinah, in95 A.H. and died in 179 A.H.).

3. Madh-hab Shafe-iy, lead byImam Shafe-iy, (Born inPalestine in 150 A.H. and diedin 203 A.H.).

4. Madh-hab Hanbali, lead by ImamAhmad Hanbal, (Born in Baghdad(another Persian?) in 163 A.H.and died in 230 A.H.).

The Imams of Aali Mohammad (A.S.)As we have Imams in the Sunni

School of Fiqah (Four Imams that werementioned above), we also have Imamsof the Ahlal Bayt, or the AaliMohammad (A.S.).

The Imams of the Ahlal Bayt areas follows:

(1) Imam Ali Bin Abi Talib, (2)Imam Hassan Bin Ali, (3) Imam HosainBin Ali, (4) Imam Zainol Abidin, (5)Imam Mohammad Al-Baqir, (6) Imam JafarAs-Saadiq (the teacher of the firstImam of the Sunni Madh-hab, who is

17

Imam Abu Hanifa, also known as theGreat Imam, as well as another SunniImam named Imam Maalik), (7) Imam MusaAl-Kadhim, (8) Imam Ali Ar-Ridha, (9)Imam Mohammad At-Taqiy, (10) Imam AliAl-Hadiy, (11) Imam Hassan El-Askary,(12) Imam Al-Mahdi (The World Reformerwho is to appear in the future, withAllah’s permission).**

However, there are somedifferences between the two conceptsof Imamah, upheld by the Aali Mohammadand the non-Ahlal Bayt Imams.

Take note of the followinginstances:

1. The Imams who were not fromthe Aali Mohammad, started their Fiqahor Jurisprudence, some 100 to 200years after the death of ProphetMohammad (P.B.U.H.), while the AhlalBayt, started Imamah (Spiritualleadership), immediately after theProphet’s passing away.

2. The second differencebetween the two groups of Imams isthat the Imams of Aali Mohammad, allclaimed to have the Authority (Olil

18

Amr) from Allah (S.W.T.) through theirappointment by the Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H.),*** one after the other;the non-Ahlal Bayt Imams never claimedto have such an authority from anyoneat anytime, and they had no legitimateAuthority, indeed. (For details aboutthis spiritual lineage, see the HolyQur’an where it describes thespiritual lineage of the “Prophets totheir children from Adam down toIbrahim, Imran, etc. as: Children oneof the other” (see Holy Qur’an 3:34 /3:38 / 3:17 / 19:58 / 29:27 / 37:113 /58:26 / 2:124, etc. Now, does it seemto you as a hereditary, spiritualdynasty, and undemocratic? Well, youbetter take your case to the Court ofAllah (S.W.T.) and lodge your ownprotest and complaint against Him andHis Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.)!) See theHoly Qur’an 4:59, about how to filethe case!

The Right Number of ImamsAfter knowing the Ahlal Bayt and

the non-Ahlal Bayt Imams (12 versus 4)it is also important to ask Allah(S.W.T.) and His Prophet (P.B.U.H.)about the right number of Imams.

19

After all, that’s what Allah (S.W.T.)has ordered, when He commanded us todo so, by saying:

“O, ye who believe! ObeyAllah, and obey the Messengerand those who are Authorized(by whom? Of course by Allah, through His Messenger) amongstyou (the Olil Amr or the Imamsthat you must follow); and ifyou disputed in anything(including those who areAuthorized/Imams) then take itto Allah and to His Messenger(ask them) if you trulybelieve in Allah and in theDay of Judgment. This is abetter, and a much agreeableresolution.” Holy Qur’an(4:59).

(Question: How can we take thedispute about the Olil Amr, when theHoly Prophet has already passed away, some 1370 years ago? Answer: Well, askthose who know, if you don’t know! Isthe answer of Allah (S.W.T.) in theHoly Qur’an 16:43.)

This Ayah expresses two thingsvery clearly, namely:

A) Obedience to those who areAuthorized, is actually obedience to

20

Allah and to His Messenger and viceversa, meaning disobedience to thosewho are Authorized is also adisobedience to Allah and to HisMessenger (P.B.U.H.), as well!

This means that those who areAUTHORIZED are spotless and pure (Seethe Holy Qur’an 33:33) and they arealso infallible and impeccable, as isthe Holy Prophet (S.A.W.) that theyrepresent (successor), otherwise, howcould Allah (S.W.T.) order us to obeysomeone who himself is a sinner, or awrong doer or an ignoramus and impureor corrupt, as the most of thepolitical leaders have always been?(See Holy Qur’an: 2/124)

B) In all the disputes(especially regarding those who areAuthorized) a believer should referthe matter to Allah and to HisMessenger (and not to anyone else, assome people tried to do, by puttingthe matter to some individual’sdecision, not to Allah and to HisMessenger). See The Holy Qur’an 3:154,etc.

The Prophet (P.B.U.H.) Says 12

21

According to a very popularHadith from the Holy Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H.), the number of the RightfulLeaders or Emirs after him shall be 12(no more and no less!) and all of themshall come from Qoraish. (Ref. (1)Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 9, p. 250; (2)Sahih Muslim Vol 4, p. 482; (3) MosnadAhmad, Vol. 1, p. 398, etc.).

This Hadith could not be aboutthe Khalifahs, because they were nottwelve. It also could not be aboutthe non-Ahlal Bayt Imams, because theyare not twelve, either.

The only twelve Leaders/Emirs inthe history of Islam that we know, arethe Holy Imams of the Ahlal Bayt –i.e. Imam Ali, Imam Hassan, ImamHosain up to the last Imam, namely,Imam Al-Mahdi. These are the onlytwelve personalities who perfectly fitthe descriptions of the Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H.), regrading his rightfulsuccessors, after him. This, plus thefact that the Last Will of the HolyProphet (S.A.W.) clearly stated that:

“I leave behind for you(Muslims) the two very

22

Important Things 1) The Bookof Allah, and 2) My Household, the Ahlal Bayt (as theteachers of the Book). Aslong as you hold on fast tothese two, you shall never gowrong . . .” see Sahih Muslimvolume 4 p. 1286 etc.

Previous Religions (Ahlal Kitab) and their 12 Leaders

Considering that the people ofthe Book (followers of Prophets Musaand Eisa (A.S.) also proclaim the sameSource of Truth that Islam comes from– i.e. God Almighty, many things aresimilar or even common among thesethree Godly religions of Judaism,Christianity and Islam.

In fact, the Holy Qur’an veryoften talks about those religions, their Prophets, as well as theirhistory and law. It also declaresmany times that the Holy Prophet ofIslam “Has come with the BOOK,confirming what (other books) wentbefore it, and He (Allah) revealed theTaurah and the Gospel, before (theHoly Qur’an).” See the Holy Qur’an(3:3).

23

Taking into account suchcloseness between these three Heavenlyreligions, it will be very interestingto see the leadership style, as wellas their numbers, among them, too.

The Holy Qur’an says the numberof “The Chieftains appointed by Allahamong the People of Israel, was 12.”

“And We appointed TwelveChieftains among them.” HolyQur’an (5:13). (Note the wordappointed by Allah not chosenby the people!).

And when Muslims asked the HolyProphet (P.B.U.H.) about the number ofhis successors, he said:

“Twelve people, just likethe chieftains of Bani Isra-il,” see Mosnad Ahmad Vol. 1,p. 398.

Even in the Old Testament itstates that from Ismael there shallcome a “Great Nation with TwelvePrinces.” See, for example, thisverse from that Book:

“As for Ismael, all right, Iwill bless him also, just as

24

you (Prophet Abraham) haveasked me to. (Note: Rememberthe first Ayah (2:124) whichwe quoted from the HolyQur’an, where the ProphetIbrahim was asking “theImamah” for his descendants?)I will cause him to multiply, and become a great nation.Twelve Princes shall be amonghis posterity.” Genesis(17:20).

Now, who are those 12 Princes inthe family of Ismael who is theforefather of Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H.)? We don’t know of any, except the 12 Holy Imams of the AhlalBayt of the Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H.) just like the 12 Chieftainsof Bani Isra-il. Do you know anyother?

Next is the number of theApostles of Jesus (A.S.) which is also12. (Also the 12 Gates of Jerusalem,12 Angels, with the names of 12Apostles, etc.).

What is the reason that thenumber ofPrinces/Leaders/Imams/Khalifahs afterProphets Musa, Eisa and Mohammad

25

(P.B.U.H.) are 12? We don’t know, butthere are some other 12 Phenomena inthis universe, that may furtherexplain the mystery behind thisnumber:

a) Allah in the Holy Qur’an says:

“Verily the number of themonths of the year with Allahis 12, so ordained by Him, theday He created the heavens andthe earth.” Holy Qur’an (9:36)

b) According to the scientists, abig number of the naturalelements are also composed of12 parts.

c) The Zodiac signs which arebased on the ancient scienceof astrology are also 12(something to think about).

Despite these quotations, stillthe instructions of the Holy ProphetMohammad (P.B.U.H.) are the onlyreliable foundations of our belief infollowing his 12 progeny, as he toldus to do so, upon the order of Allah(S.W.T.). (see the Holy Qur’an: 5/67and 5/58, etc. plus the historic

26

event of Ghadir Khom, as well as theLast Will of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.)in Sahih Muslim Vol. 4 p. 1286, andSahih Bukhari vols. 5 and 9, p. 346,etc.)

Are the Imams Necessary? There are some new groups and

sects (like the Wahhabis of SaudiArabia, that appeared in the 18th

century – A Bid’ah in itself!) whopreach that there is no need for anyImam. They believe that everybodyshould read the Holy Qur’an and theHadith of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.)and follow them, as he/she understoodthem to mean! (We shall discuss thislater, but first let us see if we needany Imam to guide us in Islam). Inorder to grasp the question of “Do wereally need Imams?” better, we may putit this way: “Do we really need theProphets, at all?”

The answer to the secondquestion is: Definitely yes, becausewe need a Messenger to bring us theMessage of Allah (S.W.T.) and to guideus according to His laws andCommandments.

27

Then, you may ask, after theMessenger delivered the Message, andhimself passed away, do we still needany teacher of the Book, who willexplain its true meanings and willinterpret the difficult parts of it,with authority, and who will answerthe questions that may arise, longafter the Messenger had left?* (Inother words, to lead the Muslim Ummah,as the Holy Prophet S.A.W. did?)

The Holy Qur’an says yes. Please take note of the followingverses:

(1) “And what We have sentto thee (O’ Mohammad) fromthe Book, is the Truth, supporting the revelationsbefore it; Verily Allahknoweth all about the people. Then We gave the Book asinheritance to those servantsof Us whom we chose. . . .That is a Great Giving!” HolyQur’an (35:31-32).

(2) “The unbelievers say:Why no sign is revealed fromhis God (to support hisclaim)? Well, the truth ofthe matter is that you (O’

28

Mohammad) are a Warner; Andfor every nation there is aGuide (Imam)” Holy Qur’an(13:7).

(3) “He (Allah) is Whorevealed unto you (O’Mohammad) the Book, someverses of which are clear; Those are the fundamentals ofthe Book, and some are not soclear (thus needclarification).” Holy Qur’an(3:7).

Now, how shall we clarify thoseverses which are not so clear? Againthe Holy Qur’an tells us what to do:

(4) “Then you ask those whoare familiar with the Note(Reminder or the Qur’an) ifyou don’t know.” Holy Qur’an(16:43)

(5) “(And on Ibrahim) Webestowed Es-haq, also Jacob asa grandson, and We made all ofthem righteous. And Weappointed them Imams whoguided (the people) inaccordance with Our Orders . ..” Holy Qur’an (21:72-73).

(6) “And verily We sent Noahand Abraham (as ourMessengers) and assignedProphethood and the Book

29

amongst their children.” HolyQur’an (57:26).

(7) “This is the way ofthose Prophets We sent beforeyou, and you won’t find anychanges in Our Way!” HolyQur’an (17:77)

(8) “Such has been the wayAllah dealt with the peoplebefore, and you won’t seeAllah change His Way!” HolyQur’an (33:62)

(9) “Allah’s Way will neverchange, Allah’s Way won’talter!” Holy Qur’an (35:43)etc.

(10) “Verily Allah choseAdam and Noah and families ofIbrahim as well as Imran aboveall people. Offspring, one ofthe other; And Allah hearethand knoweth all things.” HolyQur’an (3:33-34) (And weMuslims pray to Allah fivetimes a day, everyday, tobless the family of theProphet Mohammad, as He did tothe family of Abraham).

(11) “One day (day ofJudgment) We shall call everypeople with their Imam.” HolyQur’an (17:71).

30

(12) “O, Ye who believe!Obey Allah, and obey theMessenger and those who areAuthorized (certified by Allahand His Messenger) amongstyou; And if you disputed inanything (regarding theAuthority, etc.) then take itto Allah and to His Messenger(ask them) if you trulybelieve in Allah and the Dayof Judgment; This is a better, and a much agreeableresolution.” Holy Qur’an(4:59).

And what kind of Authority isthat? Again the Holy Qur’an, guidesus:

“They ask you (O’ Mohammad!) do wehave any share in that Authority? Tellthem (No!) the Authority, all of it, belongsto Allah (and those whom He hasAuthorized).”Holy Qur’an (3:154).

Through all these verses we gotthe following Messages: (1) Everypeople have an Imam (Qur’an 13:7) withwhom they shall come in the Day ofJudgment (Qur’an 17:71); (2) The Bookhas been given as an inheritance(after the Prophets) to those servantof Allah who were chosen by Him - -i.e. the Children of the Prophet Noah,

31

Ibrahim, etc. (Qur’an 57:26); (3) TheHoly Qur’an has some points which arenot clear to everyone; (4) We have toask those who are knowledgeable aboutthis Book; (5) There are some Imamswho guide the people in accordancewith the Orders of Allah versus thosewho don’t; (6) We have to obey Allahand His Messenger and those who areAuthorized; (7) The whole Authoritycomes from Allah and not from men, andfinally, (8) Allah’s way of dealingwith the people, the Prophets andtheir successors and the religion ofIslam as a whole, from Prophet Aadam(A.S.) up to the Last Prophet, namelythe Holy Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.)will never change! (Are you changed?)

But Why The Household? One may ask: Why such an

Authority or Imamah is limited to theHousehold of Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H.)? Why not free for all? After all, Islam is the religion ofthe people and for the people (thoughnot by the people) and Allah is theGod of the people? (Malikin Nas,Ilahin Nas).

32

The answers are as follows:

(1) That is the Practice ofAllah (or Allah’s way)throughout history (among allnations and after everyProphet) and Allah’s Way doesnot change! (see Holy Qur’an33:62 and 17:77, etc.).

As He decided for Aali Ibrahim,Aali Nooh, Aali Imran and otherProphets’ families, the same way Hedid for the Aali Mohammad (P.B.U.H.)See Holy Qur’an 57:27 also 3:33-34,11:73, etc. plus the Islamic WajibDaily Prayer, that never changes, saying, and repeating time and again:

(2) (O’ Allah! Bless thee, the Aali Mohammad, as You didBless the Aali Ibrahim . . .)

The Holy Qur’an points out somespecific Houses that are chosen byAllah (S.W.T.) to do His work (likethe Houses of the Prophets):

“The Light of Allahshineth . . . in those Housesthat Allah has allowed(chosen) to rise high/grow,and to mention His Name, inwhich, He is praised in themornings as well as in the

33

evenings, by (those) men whomno business or buying (andselling) will prevent fromremembering Allah andestablishing the prayers andgiving in charity (sharing)and who are fearing The Day inwhich the hearts and the eyesshall tremble (Day ofJudgment).” Holy Qur’an(24:36).

Also Allah (S.W.T.) says:“None shall touch (handle orexplain) this Book except thePurified Ones!” Holy Qur’an(56:79).

(And the Holy Prophet left for theMuslims the Holy Qur’an, together withhis own Ahlal Bayt).

And who are the “PurifiedPeople” in the eyes of Allah? Againthe Holy Qur’an, identifies them:

“Verily Allah wants to keepaway all impurities from youO’ Ahlal Bayt (Aali Mohammad)and to purify you perfectly.”Holy Qur’an (33:33).

In another verse, as we notedearlier, the Holy Qur’an furtheremphasizes that some people are chosen

34

by Allah (S.W.T.) to “Inherit” theBook:

“Then We Gave the Book as aninheritance to some of OurServants whom we Chose (…)This is a Great Blessing!”Holy Qur’an (35:31-32).

(Also look at the Hadith of the HolyProphet regarding the “Two ImportantValuables” he left for the Muslimsafter him, namely: 1) The Book ofAllah, and 2) His Ahlal Bayt, asteachers of the Book. See SahihMuslim, Vol. 5, p. 272 and SahihTirmidi, vol. 2, p. 308, etc.):

“I am leaving behind for you(Muslims) two very importantthings: The Book of Allah, andmy Descendants, my Ahlal Bayt, and as long as you hold onfast to these two, you shallnever go wrong. . .” The HolyProphet (S.A.W.)

The Wahhabi – Saudi Concept of ImamahIn recent years, the Saudi royal

family and its twin brother, theWahhabi sect, which are both the by-

35

products of the infamous Lawrence ofArabia, the British Secret Agent(please read the book of the sametitle or see the movie called Lawrenceof Arabia, to know the truth better)*are spreading a new concept of Islamin general, and Imamah, in particular.

The money that they are using topropagate this kind of Wahhabi Islam(Salafism) is the American Petro-Dollar, and the company that pays forits propagation is the so-called Arab-American Oil Company (ARAMCO). Theagency that orchestrates all this“American Islam” is the SatanicOrganization of the CIA, which is theevil instrument of the U.S.imperialism, to destroy Islam and allother Godly and human values that mayone day stand against their Satanicplots. (No wonder, Imam Khomeinicalled America, the Great Satan)!

Among the many tools that theyuse for their unholy purposes are theso-called “Ulama” (or “Ulanga”, as theHoly Qur’an describes some phonyclergy, see 62:5) or preachers(Tabligh/Taliban/Shabab, etc.) whoreceive their monthly salaries in U.S.

36

dollars, coming from those suspicioussources.

What Is the Concept? The Saudi-American Islam

preaches that there is no need for anyImam, and every Muslim should read theHoly Qur’an and follow what heunderstands from the Holy Book. (Thisis exactly the same concept that theCIA-backed American missionariespreach in the name of Protestantism –Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, etc.in the Christian world). They aretelling the people to read the HolyQur’an, and the Hadith (without ateacher) and to understand Islam(without a guide or Imam) while theythemselves know very well that 60% ofthe Saudi Arabians are “no read, nowrites!” Also a big percentage of theMuslim population in the Middle Eastor elsewhere (especially in Pakistanand Afghanistan of the Taliban),either don’t know how to read and tounderstand the Holy Qur’an and theHadith, or they are simplyilliterates. (Note: 70% of the Afghanpopulation are illiterate, and eventhose who can read and write, do not

37

necessarily understand Arabic or theQur’anic terminology. Pakistan is nobetter than Afghanistan in thisregard, the same is in Uzbekistan,Tajikistan, Turkey, so is Somalia andYemen, etc.! But, according to a BBCreport, Afghanistan of the WahhabiTaliban holds the infamous record ofbeing the worst country in the world,in illiteracy – See BBC May 18, 2010.)

What Is The Purpose?Apparently, this plan, or plot,

is pretending to believe that the Bookof Allah is complete (which is true)and that every believer can understandall that is revealed in the Book(which is not true). See Holy Qur’an(3:7).

But, the real intention of itsadvocates is to prevent the formationof any Islamic Organization under theleadership of an spiritual Muslimleader or Imam that can unite theMuslim Ummah and to stand against theSatanic forces of Imperialism and todeclare Jihad against America and itspuppet regimes in the world, namely

38

Israel, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan,Kuwait, Bahrain, etc.

Just to know how successful thisAnti-Islam, Anti-Imamah scheme hasbeen in the Muslim world, it’s enoughto note that for many centuries, allthe Islamic movements in the Muslimworld have failed to establish anIslamic rule. (Look at the Ikhwan Al-Muslimin in Egypt, Syria, Jordan,Palestine, etc. or those Islamicmovements in countries like Pakistan,Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, thePhilippines, etc. and you will seefailures after failures of suchIslamic Organizations or Fronts).

The only successful IslamicMovement that was able to establish anIslamic Government in a Muslim countryso far, has been the IslamicRevolution of Iran, under the genuineand qualified leadership of ImamKhomeini; and the major factor forthis successful Islamic Revolution wasImamah or the spiritual leadership, rising up against the corrupt regimeof the Shah of Iran, in 1979.

39

(I can’t see any other spiritualleader, in any Muslim country, whichdoesn’t believe in Imamah, as the Shi-ah Muslims do, to be able to repeatwhat the Shi-ah Muslims of Iran did.Compare the Shi-ah leader of Lebanon,Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah with theMufties of Egypt, Syria, Jordan,Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia,Indonesia, Pakistan, etc. to see thedifference).

This phenomenon – Imamah vs. thecorrupt governments, is what the Saudiroyal family and the rest of thecorrupt regimes in the Muslim worldand their “mother” the U.S.imperialism, are so afraid of. That’swhy they spend so much money and useso many “Ulama” (or “Ulanga”) as atool, just to preach that there is noneed for Imams, and that everyone isan Imam for himself! (Thus there areno united fronts against theImperialism and there is no Ummah, noJihad and nothing at all!) But asMuslims, we should know better that ifthere were no Imams, who else thenshall declare Jihad (which isemphasized in more than 200 places inthe Holy Qur’an)? We can’t even have

40

a Friday prayer, Id-Al-Ad’ha, Id Al-Fitir prayers, etc. without therightful guidance of a qualified andgenuine Imam; How then do we expectthat the Muslim Ummah could marchforward (both spiritually andmaterially) without a righteous andhonest Imam? That’s a wishfulthinking, aside from being un-Islamic,too!

Do you think that all Muslimsfor many centuries have been wrong, byfollowing the rightful Imams? Are weto accept that only the newlyestablished “Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its new Wahhabi sect (that startedonly in the 18th century, andtherefore, is in itself a Bid’ah!),are right, and the rest of the Muslimworld is wrong? Can you believe that?Only a “Salafi”/Wahabbi ignoramussucker can fall for such a clearlyanti-Islamic “belief”! Not a trulywell educated Muslim, who is guided bythe “Light of Allah (S.W.T.)”. See theHoly Qur’an (24:35).

But The Holy Qur’an Says ItDifferently

41

The Holy Qur’an tells us adifferent story. It teaches us thatwe need an Imam or an spiritualleader, who will follow the footstepsof the Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.) andwill implement the Commandments ofAllah (S.W.T.) (not the dictates ofthe U.S.) in the Muslim society. Itdoes not allow the community of Islam,to be without an spiritual guide or anImam, even just for a day!

When Prophet Musa (A.S.) wascalled by Allah (S.W.T.) to MountSinai (for 30 days), the Holy Qur’ansays: “He appointed his brother Aaronas his Khalifah and leader (Imam) ofthe people.” In spite of this, somepeople did not want to follow him, andthey started worshipping a calf (!).This is a good example to prove thatyou can’t follow what you think isright - - certainly you need a guideor an Imam to follow.

The Holy Qur’an tells it better:

“And We (Allah S.W.T.)invited Moses for thirty days;then We (testing the people’sfaith) increased it by tenmore days; thus making it

42

forty nights; And Moses toldhis brother (Aaron) take myplace among my people (leadthem), improve the situationand follow not the ways of thecorrupt men!” Holy Qur’an7:142. (See, corrupt men evenamong the followers andcompanions of Moses andAaron!).

In the history of Islam the sameevent was repeated. When ProphetMohammad (P.B.U.H.) left Madinah tofight the oppressive government ofRome, he appointed Imam Ali to run theIslamic City State of Madinah duringhis absence even for a few days. Butsome people did not want to followImam Ali, also! (The same story ofMusa and Aaron. No wonder the HolyProphet Mohammad said: “O, Ali you areto me like Aaron to Musa (A.S.) exceptthe fact that there is no Prophetafter me.” Sahih Bukhari, vol. 5, p.492).*

So, the Imam is needed in aMuslim society, not only for a longperiod of time, but for every singleday in the life of the Ummah. (To ouropinion, the basic reason why theMuslims of the Philippines, could not

43

achieve their goals despite 400 yearsof Jihad, is the lack of a unitedfront under the leadership of aqualified Imam, (not a politician)acceptable to the majority of theMuslims in this country).

The Love of Aali MohammadAllah in the Holy Qur’an says:

“Tell them (O’Mohammad) Idon’t ask any compensationsfor it (preaching Islam toyou) except (that you) lovethe loved ones!” (of the HolyProphet). Holy Qur’an(42:23).

According to the Islamichistorians, a group of Sahaba(companions of the Holy Prophet) cameto him, and they wanted to offer himsome material gifts, as a token oftheir appreciation of what ProphetMohammad (P.B.U.H.) had done inguiding them towards Islam, andbringing them out of the Jahiliyyahand the Age of Ignorance. But, Allah(S.W.T.) told the Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H.) to tell them that he needednothing of their material possessions! However, if they wanted to repay the

44

Holy Prophet, (as indeed, theyshould!) they would better be kind tohis relatives and descendants.Unfortunately, many so-called Muslimsdid the exact opposite!

(Instead of loving thedescendants of the Holy Prophet, some“Muslim” massacred the children of theHoly Prophet, as did the Jews to theChildren of Prophet Abraham!).

The Biggest Tragedy in IslamIn spite of the Holy Prophet’s

repeated recommendations and clearinstructions, all the Imams of AaliMohammad, and a big number ofProphet’s children and grandchildrenwere either killed by sword orpoisoned, starting immediately afterthe death of the Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H.).

Fatimah Zahra, the only childthat Prophet Mohammad left behind him,and wife to Imam Ali, mother of ImamsHassan and Husain, and the lady whomall Muslims remember during the Khtbahof Friday prayer and other Salats, wascritically wounded by a mob who

45

attacked and burned her house. Theyinjured her physically and killed thefetus in her womb! These tragicevents took place even as the body ofProphet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.) was leftunburied. Because, some peoplethought that the “election” of aKhalifah or a successor to the HolyProphet, was more urgent than theburial of the body of ProphetMohammad! (Leadership of the Ummahseemed so important to the Sahaba;then why did the Prophet say nothingabout such an important issue? Or didhe say, but some people did not wantto listen!)

(Also take note that the Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H.) passed away on Monday, buthis body was entered three days later,on Wednesday! And here come some so-called Sunnah, who claim that the bodyof a dead Muslim should be buried thesame day, before the sun-set, as theJews do in Israel, today! Now, whichis the Sunnah of the Prophet of Islam, and which is the way of theIsraelites?)

Fatimah Zahra was injuredseverely and she died of the

46

complications, just six months afterher father passed away. She was only18 years old at the time of her tragicdeath. She requested Imam Ali to buryher secretly, as a sign of protestagainst those ungrateful “followers”of her father!

Until now, no Muslim knowsexactly where is the tomb of Fatimah, the beloved daughter of ProphetMohammad (P.B.U.H.), whom the HolyProphet called “The Lady of the Womenof Heaven”!

Imam Ali, the husband ofFatimah, and the cousin of ProphetMohammad (P.B.U.H.) was disobeyed, hurt, and finally martyred, inside theKufa Mosque, during a morning prayer,in the holy month of Ramadhan.

Imam Hassan, the grandson ofProphet Mohammad, (son of Fatimah andAli) was disobeyed and dastardlypoisoned by Mo’awia, the governor ofDamascus, who was also a formercompanion of the Prophet Mohammad(P.B.U.H.). (Now, is that Mo’awiastill a true Muslim!)

47

Imam Hosain, the second grandsonof Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.) wasbeheaded by Khalifah Yazid, son ofMo’awia! Along with Imam Hosain, 72other Muslims (some Aali Mohammad andsome Sahaba of Prophet Mohammad) werekilled by Yazid’s soldiers, inKarbala, Iraq.

His sisters, Zainab and UmmiKolthoum, the granddaughters of theHoly Prophet, and Imam Hosain’s owndaughters (Sakina and Roqayya) weretaken as captives of war, and theywere introduced to the people of Iraqand Syria as the “non-Muslims!” (Andtoday, the followers of Yazid andMo’awia, call the followers of theAhlal Bayt, or the Shi-ah, as non-Muslims, too. Is it amazing? Likefather, like son!)

All other Imams of the AaliMohammad, except for Imam Al-Mahdi,have been jailed (Imam Musa Al-Kadhimfor 14 years) and killed, throughpoisoning, by the Khalifahs of theirtimes, both the Umayyads as well asthe Abbasids. (And amazingly, stillthey pray for them every day in theirWajib Salawats!)

48

This is how the so-calledMuslims returned the favor to thosegreat sacrifices and services ofProphet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.) after hisdeath.

And now, the Saudi governmentand its Wahhabi “Sheikhs” havedestroyed even the tombs of four ofthose Imams of the Ahlal Bayt of theHoly Prophet, namely: Imam Hassan,Imam Zainol Abidin, Imam Mohammad Al-Baqir, and Imam Ja’far As-Saadiq.They argue that, according to theWahhabi / Salafi Islam, constructionof any tomb for anybody is a “Bid-ah”(!) or un-Islamic. Well, the questionis: Where in the Holy Qur’an is that?In fact, the Holy Qur’an says that theBelievers “Built a Mosque over theburial ground of the people of theCave! (See Surah Kahf, Chapter 17,verse 22 in the Holy Qur’an).

(What about the tombs of ProphetMohammad (P.B.U.H.) in Madinah or theProphet Ibrahim’s (A.S.) in Palestine, and other Prophets)?

49

How come building palaces withgolden faucets for the Saudi royalfamily is not a Bid-ah and contrary tothe Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammad? Why the re-establishment of theKingdom of Saudi Arabia is not a Bid-ah and against the teachings of theProphet Mohammad; but having a tombbuilt upon the burial ground of a goodMuslim, or an Imam, whom we are allsupposed to remember, love and follow,is a Bid-ah? **

(This cross-eyed Wahhabi Islam,is producing those murderous Taliban /Al-Shabab / Al-Ansar / Abu Sayyaf, whoalso kill Muslim men, women andchildren, in the streets of Pakistan,Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, thePhilippines, etc. They have alsodestroyed the Shrines of many greatteachers of Islam and many Sufis andAulia, and Muslim Scholars andPreachers, with the same crooked andtwisted mentality that is more likethe Amish Christians and the JewishSanhedrins, than any true Islamicteaching, at all! And considering thatthe Saudi rulers are actually thedescendants of the wandering Jews ofthe Arabian deserts, their enmity with

50

the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) and hisHousehold and the true Muslimteachers, is not surprising, at all!).

But, the truth of the matter isthat, as the Munafiq people in theearly days of Islam hated the HolyFamily of Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.)and many massacred them, in thosedays, their children today (lead bythe Saudi royal family) are doing thesame; as also did the Jews with thedescendants of Prophet Abraham or AaliIbrahim A.S many centuries ago! Itseems the history is repeating itself, always! (See the Holy Qur’an 3:112,etc.).

The Saudi-American unholyalliance knows very well that even thetombs of the Aali Mohammad can inspirethe Muslims in uprising against thecorrupt regimes in the Muslim world –just like what Imam Hosain did when heand his followers fought against Yazid(Yazid Zilaka! Yazid ini!), and hisanti-Islamic rule, in that tragicbattle of Karbala, in 61 A.H. (680A.D.).

51

If these regimes were allowed tocontinue their crimes against Islamand the Ahlal Bayt, maybe one day, they would even try to destroy theshrine of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.)in Madinah, or they will try to removeeven the name of Aali Mohammad fromthe Muslim daily prayers or Salat!“Allahom-ma Salli Ala Mohammad, wa Ala AaliMohammad, Kama Sal-laita Ala Ibrahim, wa AlaAali Ibrahim.”*

May Allah forbid it! InshaAllah!

Appendix IVCould There Come Another Imam

Khomeini?M.S. Tajar Ph.D.

(Former Lecturer University of thePhilippines)

Since the spectacular victory ofthe Islamic Revolution of Iran, onFeb. 11, 1979, the most fascinatingquestion on my mind, and probablyyours, too, has been this: “Couldthere come another Imam Khomeini?”

This question, for me, andprobably for many others, became evenmore profound, immediately after the

53

passing away of Imam Khomeini, on June3, 1989.

The logical answers to thisquestion may be many yeses or no’s, aswe shall see after this brief study, yet to me, the most beautiful answeris given by that touching song, thatsays:

“There may come many othersummers, But there will nevercome another you…!”

But, seriously speaking, couldthere come another Imam Khomeini? Theanswer is both yes and no.

Just to explain further, let mequote here a very well known saying,or Hadith, from the Holy ProphetMohammad (S.A.W.) who said:

“Allah (S.W.T.) shall raisea Grand Reformer, in everycentury, to straighten theaffairs of the Muslim Ummah”.(Ref. all major Books ofHadith).

Under the light of thisfuturistic Hadith (The Prophecy, asthey say, is history told inadvance!), we can see many greatleaders, who came and lead the

54

Muslims, in the most crucial times inthe life of the Ummah.

Among those great personalitiesis Salahud Din Ayyubi, also known as“Saladdin the Magnificent” (1138-1193A. D.), the Kurdish/Persian leader, who finally defeated the westernCrusaders, and their local allies, andsaved the Muslims from the totalannihilation, by the EuropeanChristians, in the Holy Land, ending a300 years of conflict, in 1887 A.D.Long before him, came another greatman, this time an extra ordinaryscholar and scientist by the name ofKhawja Naseer Ad-Din Tousi (13th

century A.D.) who tamed the MongulHords, before they could turn theIslamic civilization into another“Mongulistan”.

In recent history, there hasbeen another great Islamic reformer,by the name of Sayyid Jamal Ad-DinAsad-Abadi, 1838-1897 A.D. (known asAfghani) an outstanding Iraniancleric, intellectual, religious andpolitical activist, who sounded thealarm among the Muslim Ummah, and whobrought the message of “Back-to-Islaminto the Arab world, starting withEgypt, in the early 19th century”,

55

which is still on going until today.(Ref. “The International HeraldTribune”, Jan.12/ 2005).

The interesting thing about thisgreat man, who brought the Islamicawareness to the Arab world, and tothe other Muslims, too, (Muslims ofthe Indian Subcontinent, etc.) is thathe was not even an Arab, but aPersian, from the town of Asad-Abad,in Hamadan Province of Iran. (Ibid)

Then came the Ayatullah MirzaShirazi (1815-1890 A.D.) whose famousFatwa against the Tobacco Consumptionin Iran, during the corrupt QajarDynasty, broke the back of the BritishColonial Enterprise (British EastIndies Company 1600-1858) not only inPersia, but throughout the MiddleEast, and the Indian Subcontinent, aswell. We may add to this list thenames of Sheikh Mohammad Abdoh ofEgypt (an outstanding student of JamalAd-Din Asad-Abadi, who later on becamethe Mufti of Egypt and the rector ofthe 1,000 year old University of AlAzhar, in Cairo. Also Hasan Al-Banna(1906-1949AD), the revolutionaryfounder of the Muslim Brotherhood ofEgypt, who got his ideas from Abdohand Asad-Abadi.).

56

After them came Dr. MohammadIqbal, the great Indian Muslimscholar, Philosopher-poet, whosebright idea was the creation of theIslamic Republic of Pakistan, from theBritish dominated India, in 1947. (Andhe was an Indian Muslim poet who wrotemost of his revolutionary poems, inPersian, rather than in his own Urdutongue, because, as he said: “I getthese inspirations more in Persian;and even though Hindi language, issweet, yet, Persian is much sweeter!)

Some other great names, like thelate Ayatullah Kashani, Nawwab Safavi(of the Faddayin Islam) as well as Dr.Ali Shariati, etc. could be added tothis glorious list.

(Let us not also forget tomention Abdul Rahman Al-Kawakibi –1855-1902 – the Syrian born ArabNationalist in Egypt, whose ancestralroots went back up to the SafavidDynasty of Persia!)

But Imam Khomeini was Above the Rest. While we have had many

visionaries of the Islamic awareness, with the idea of the establishment ofan Islamic State, with its own laws

57

and an independent government, yet noother Muslim leader in recent memoryhas succeeded in the realization ofthose ideals, as did the late ImamKhomeini, in the 1979 IslamicRevolution.

It was very astonishing and sounbelievable that a religious man, with no previous experiences ingoverning or the use of arms or themilitary training, could defeat thestrongest army in the Middle East, which boasted of the “Peacock Throne”and the 2,500 years of the PersianEmpire (the “first empire in theworld”, according to the AmericanHistorian, Mr. Philip Groisser – see“World History” New York, 1970-p.17).

The Islamic revolution shockedthe super powers of the East and theWest (the U.S.A. and the Soviet Unionof the Yore).

It was a great inspiration tothe suffering peoples of the MiddleEast, with their helpless attitudetowards their own foreign and localoppressors, so much so that when theIslamic Revolution succeeded in Iran, they could not believe their own eyes!

That’s why, President Ahmad BenBella, the father of the Algerian

58

Revolution (1963 A.D.) called theIran’s Islamic Revolution: “TheMiracle of our age!”(Ref. The TimeMagazine, Apr.16/1979. Also “TheInternational Herald Tribune”,Sep.4/2002 etc.)

But to me, the most meaningfulstatement came from the Sheikh ofSaudi Arabia (the Wahhabis, who arethe mortal enemies of the Shi-ahIslam). He was heading the Saudi UlamaDelegation to Iran, representing theKing Khalid of Saudi Arabia, to visitand to congratulate Imam Khomeini, inthe Holy City of Qom, immediatelyafter the victory of the IslamicRevolution. The Saudi Sheikh said, andI quote: “Ya Imam! Kunna azillaa, waa-azzanal-lahu-bik!” (O, Imam! We wereall humiliated, but Allah, throughyou, gave us dignity and honor!”)(Ref. The Lecture of the SaudiDelegation to the Holy City of Qom, tovisit the late Imam Khomeini, in March1979.)

Defeating a Big Army without any Arms? When a naughty journalist in

France asked the late Imam Khomeini:“You’re Holiness! Do you have enough

59

arms to defeat the strongest andbiggest army in the Middle East, i.e.the army of the Shah of Iran?” Hisanswer was very sharp, as he replied:“We don’t have any arms now, and wedon’t want to use any arms as much aspossible, but if need be, we know howto get them!”

Thus, he was able to neutralizethe army of the Shah of Iran – thegreat American puppet, with the helpof the millions of the Iranian men andwomen and the children, who were alldemonstrating in the streets of Iran!(The “Philippine people power of the1986” against Marcos dictatorship, with almost the same circumstances, took place some eight years after the1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran.)

A Comparison between Iran andPhilippine Revolutions

The unique similarity betweenthe Islamic Revolution of Iran in 1979and the Philippines’ “People PowerRevolution” of 1986 could be that bothof them were people powers, and bothof them overthrew the twodictatorships, which were subservientto the same American super power, and

60

both of them had the religious leadersand the religious masses to supportthem. But then, the similarities endup there, and the glaring differencesstart to show up.

For instance, while the IslamicRevolution of Iran started from themasses, and the religious leadershipand it took some 15 year of struggle, until it brought down the military ofthe Shah, the “Philippine Peoplepower” started by the military, andespecially the same generals andministers who were themselves thearchitects of the dictatorship, andthe martial law, and itsadministrators until the last minute, and they were the direct partners inthe crimes of the Marcos dictatorship-i.e. Gen. Fidel Ramos and MinisterJuan Ponce Enrile.

(That military revolt was mostprobably orchestrated by the CIA andthe U.S. administration, under theRepublican Roland Reagan, who evenclaimed the credit for it, and hisvice president George Bush Sr., aformer CIA “Cappo Di Tutti Cappi”, whoused to tell the Marcoses; “ We loveyour democracy.”) The same George

61

Bush, whose son, G.W. bush set thewhole world on fire, years later, byinvading Afghanistan, Iraq, and hecontinued to the last day in hisoffice, threatening all Muslims bycalling them “Islamo-fascists!” anddividing the whole world into: “Eitheryou are with us or against us!”).

This, plus another undeniablefact that it was actually the U.S.helicopters from the U.S. air bases inthe Philippines, which snatched theMarcos family from the MalacanangPalace and instead of taking them toPaoay, they hijacked them to Hawaii!(And now they are calling others, terrorists and hijackers! The classicexample of the pot calling the kettle, black!).

And while the Islamic Revolutionof Iran turned the old establishmentupside down, by removing the entireruling elite, and the royal families, the top generals and the cronycapitalists, the Philippine Revolutionpassed the power from one Ongpin toanother Ongpin (the Chinese capitalistfamilies), but it still stayed in theChina town, it changed from one Ayalato another Ayala (the remnants of theold Spanish colonizers), but it still

62

stayed in the hands of the sameSpanish mestiso class that have beenruling in this country for over 400years, both politically andfinancially; it gave the power fromone political dynasty (Cojuanco) toanother political dynasty (Cojuanco),and from one corporate interest toanother corporate interest, and thereal winner of the whole drama werethe American government and its multinationals in the Philippines, while inthe Islamic Revolution of Iran, thebiggest loser was America (as well asthe Soviet Union and their camps.)

Role of Religion in the PhilippineRevolution

Another close similarity betweenthe two people power revolutions couldalso be the important role that thereligious authorities of the twonations played in the success of thetwo mass movements.

While in the Islamic Revolutionof Iran, the late Imam Khomeini andthe Muslim clergy were leading theIranian people, in the Philippines, some 8 years later, the Archbishop ofManila, the late Cardinal Sin, and the

63

Catholic Church were also active, supporting the Military revolt of thethen Gen. Ramos and the DefenseMinister Enrile. The late cardinal sinannounced from the Radio Veritas (TheCatholic Church Radio Station) that:“I ask the faithful to support GeneralRamos and Minister Juan Ponce Enrile,in Camp Crame.” (Radio VERITAS,February 1986) (Meanwhile, the U.S.inspired Protestant Churches, like the700 club, under Mr. Pat Robertson, TheAmerican “Evangelist” who came fromthe U.S. Air force to preach the Bibleaccording to the Uncle Sam! keptquiet, and the Filipino Protestantpastors also stayed loyal to theirAmerican mentors, by keeping quiet, and saying nothing against thedictatorship of the Marcoses, andtheir U.S. backers in the White House. Both sides claimed to believe in theseparation of the church and thestate, yet the state continued to makeall the laws that violated thereligion, but the religion could noteven announce any ruling that mighthave violated the laws of the state! That’s how one sided this rule hasalways been in favor of Caesar vs.God! And the Mammon vs. the Masses.)

64

Therefore, when Cardinal Sin andsome other conscientious Catholicpriests and nuns demonstrated againstthe Marcoses’ dictatorship and theU.S. approved martial law, theviolations of the Human Rights, andthe U.S. military bases in thePhilippines soil, etc.etc… the goodcardinal was called “the AyatullahKhomeini of the Philippines” and thosepriests and nuns were called“liberals, communists, etc. who aretrying to bring the LiberationTheology of Latin America, into thecountry.”

There were many other religiousleaders (both Muslims and non-Muslims)around the world, who were labeled asthe Ayatullah Khomeinis of their owncountries (like Seyyid HassanNasrallah of Lebanon, today) but Istill continue asking myself the samequestion: could there come anotherImam Khomeini?

My own answer is: If you mean ofthe same mind and attitude, maybe; butof that stature, probably never. Thereasons are many, but the mostimportant reason to me is this: ImamKhomeini was the best product of aschool of thought, which is the Shi-ah

65

Islam, that believes in the Supremacyof God Almighty and the leadership ofthe spiritual personalities, with noseparation of the church and thestate. That’s exactly the teaching andthe beliefs of all the Devinereligions (not materialism, humanismand other man-made isms), from thetime of the Prophet Moses (A.S.) theLaw Giver, up to the Prophet Solomon(A.S.) the Just Ruler, and many otherrighteous judges after them, down tothe Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) whocombined all those virtues andexcellent qualities in himself.

Therefore, in those countriesthat don’t believe in the Union of theSpiritual and the material world, symbolized by the State, God and Hispeople, heaven and the House ofRepresentatives, there is no way tohave another Imam Khomeini, even ifonce in a while some priests carried across here and there for a fewtempestuous days, to help somerebellious soldiers or disgruntledgenerals of the army or ministers, whogot lesser shares of the looting ofthe nation, etc. and after a few days, those priests went back again totheir own churches to pray and once

66

more let a new group of the oldpoliticians plunder the population, and play the same old politics as theyused to, while what the nation neededvery badly was a true change!

How about in the Muslim World?Well, if the Muslim countries

also followed the true traditions ofthe Godly Prophets like Moses (A.S.)Solomon (A.S.) and our own belovedProphet Mohammad (S.A.W.) and theyalso established the rule of Imamate(the continuity of the Spiritualleadership after the Holy Prophet, asthe Shi-ah Muslims believe and do)then it is possible. But if they wouldinsist on the separation of the churchand the state (as the Christians say),or the Khilafat (like the Othomans ofTurkey did) then there will be nothingmore than the politicians who alsowill be practicing the separation ofthe Spiritual from the Practical, astheir peers in the western world aredoing, today.

So, I believe that in no SunniMuslim State like in, Pakistan,Malaysia or even Indonesia up to Egyptand Saudi Arabia and beyond, there are

67

any possibilities of another ImamKhomeini or another IslamicRevolution. However, it may bepossible that in the Shi-ah dominatedregions of the Muslim world like inLebanon, Iraq, Bahrain, Azerbaijan,Yemen, etc. there could come anotherImam, to lead the Muslims into theestablishment of an Islamicgovernment, as did the late ImamKhomeini in Iran, but still there willnever be another Imam Khomeini!

Let me repeat my favorite line, once more:

“There may come many othersummers, But, there will nevercome another you!”

I may also add my own line, bysaying:

“How true, how true, howtrue!”

Appendix VTHE POLITICAL CARTOONS AND

THE MUSLIM WORLD

When on 20th of May 2010, theIslamic Republic of Pakistan shot downthe U-tube and the Facebook, becauseof their attempts to draw a picture ofthe Prophet Mohammad (p.b.u.h.) theentire western world was shocked. Howcould such a simple and “trivial”thing (as far as the western cultureis concerned) be so important, thatthe entire population of an AtomicState like Pakistan, is demonstratingand demanding the total ban of theseinternational networks, just becauseof their drawing the picture of aProphet, who has passed away some 1400years ago!

70

The same kind of demonstrationsor even bigger, took place, in almostall Muslim countries, and the Muslimcommunities, in Europe and North &South America, about the so-called“Mohammad Cartoons” by a Danishcartoonist, in 2006. Before that, wasthe Muslim protests all around theworld about the book “The SatanicVerses” by the Indian born Muslimauthor of Britain, Salman Rushdie, that lead to the “Fatwa” by theIranian Muslim leader, Imam Khomeini,on 14th of Feb. 1989, to exterminatethe apostate author, for insulting theHoly Qur’an, the Holy Prophet(p.b.u.h.) and also his respectablewives, and for maligning Islam, and byextension, some 1.5 billion Muslims,of the world, as well.

A Great MisunderstandingWhat the Westerners could not

understand about the Muslim world ingeneral, and its political leaders orits system of government, is this: Inthe West (since the time of the Greekphilosophers) the people areconsidered “gods” (replacing the

71

Pantheon of the 1,000 Greek gods, headed by Zues, Jupiter, etc.).

Therefore, this “human gods”,who also invented the philosophy ofHumanism, can decide to choose anybody(and by that I mean anybody!) fromamong themselves, to become theirleader, even if that person is abuffoon, like G.W. Bush of the U.S.A.or an scandalous Prime Minister, likethe Silvio Berlusconi of Italy, or anyother pervert, and immoral person, oreven a Mafiosi, drug lord, gamblinglord, porno lord, protector ofprostitution and organized crime, etc., (see the files of some ministersand even prime ministers of countrieslike Italy, Mexico, Panama and others,to see what I mean) as long as thepeople have voted for him/her; Andalso to throw them away, like a hotpotato, anytime they wished, as theydid with Sir Winston Churchill, thesecond world war hero of the GreatBritain, in 1955.

In the meantime, they are alsoallowed to call their leaders names inthe streets or draw their cartoons inany humiliating positions they like,as they did with the Prime MinisterJohn Howard of Australia in 2003,

72

kissing the behind of George W. Bush!(Boy, what a kisser!).

But, in Islam, neither thepeople are “gods”, nor are theirleaders (as were the Persian emperors, before. This disease of “godhood” wasexported from Persia, the first empirein the world, to other empires, aswell, when the Iranian-born Pharaohstook it with them to Egypt. Even theBabylonians, the Chinese and muchlater the Romans, got this “god-disease” from the early Persians. Youcan see Alexander the Great, whoadmired the Persian heroes like Cyrusand Dariush the Great, claiming thathe is from the same Persian Dynasty, wearing their clothes living likethem, and he was also aspiring to havea “demi-god” status just like thePersian “Shahan-shah” or king of kingsor “cura” as the Roman did, later).

In the Islamic system ofgovernment, both the people and theirleaders are equally “servants of thesame God, the One and Only, Allah(s.w.t.)!”

The government is not of “thepeople” but even the people andeverything that exists in this world,

73

all belong to Allah, and that includesthe government, as a whole!

Therefore, in the IslamicGovernment, the people are not theking-makers, but rather they, as wellas their leaders, are subject to aHigher Authority, who is Allah(s.w.t.).

The leaders in the IslamicGovernment are “Approved” by Allah(s.w.t.) first, before they are votedupon by the people! So, just people’sdesires or their approval of someone(even apparently in a democratic way)does not necessarily qualify him/heras a legitimate Islamic Leader, aslongs as it does not first bear the“Seal of Approval” from the Above, also (i.e. the Islamic principles ofleadership).

The analogy here is that of achecking account that has a jointaccount status, in which the Chairmanhas to sign first, before thesignature of the president of thecompany becomes valid, otherwise onesignature alone won’t do.

There are so many spiritual andeven physical qualifications, necessary for a person to lead theIslamic State, that it doesn’t allow

74

anyone, except the most qualified, themost honorable person, and the mostknowledgeable individual on theIslamic Law and Government, to leadthe people; not just any charlatan, ordemagogue or politician or a well-known movie actor or actress, or amiss universe or a beauty queen or aMr. World, with millions of brainlessfans of “hoi poloi”, to run, and towin and to lead the nation to a moraldisaster, as did the actor RonaldReagan of America, and later TonyBlair of England, or a charismaticdemagogue like Hitler and Mussolini,or some Revolutionary monsters likeLenin, Stalin, Mao, Che Guevarra,Fidel Castro or Kim Il Sung.

In the West, anybody who getsthe votes (as do the rich, the famous, and the powerful) becomes the“Leader”, and the people (the majoritywho are the average citizens, including the less educated or eventhe un-educated) elect them, and alsothrow them away, anytime they wished(so, the leaders have to follow thewhims and the caprices of theirfollowers, just to stay in power; aclassic example of the sheep leadingthe shepherd!)

75

Under such system, the leader isjust a “dignified errand boy/girl” tobe told by the voters: “Do this, don’tdo that! Go there or come here!”. Suchan “errand boy/girl” can also belampooned, even insulted, or callednames (like the former president ofPakistan, Gen. Parvez Mosharraf, whowas called in the streets as “Bi-Sharaf” or shameless, etc.).

But, because Islam puts thehighest premium on the best possibleperson amongst the nation, it alsocannot allow anybody to insult or tocall names of such a leader – be itthe Holy Prophet Mohammad (p.b.u.h.)of 1400 years ago, or the late ImamKhomeini, or even the presentspiritual and political leaders of theIslamic State.

Islam doesn’t allow insulting orcalling names of any person at all, orjoking or even making fun of him/herwithout his consent, more so about themost qualified and the most honorablepeople in the society, who deserve somuch respect and following, not theinsulting or cursing or drawing theirpictures in the most humiliating ways, just to sell “cartoons or thenewspapers”! (Another trick of

76

capitalism and commercialism, in whichanything goes, as long as it brings indollars!)

So, either the Westerndemocracies (which are actually basedon “one dollar one vote, rather thanone person, one vote” as they claim)have to raise the bar of theirleadership qualifications – moral andspiritual, so high that only thepurest and the best are elected, andnot just the rich and the infamous, with the right political connectionsand horse trading and the porkbarrels, etc.

Or else, the Muslim populationshould give up those required Islamicideals of spiritual and moralconditions for their leaders, and theyshould also join the Jewish and Romancrowds of Jerusalem – Circa 30 A.D. bysinging “Hossanas!” to their leaderone day, and then crying: “Crucifyhim! Crucify him!” the next day, asthe populace changes their feebleminds, overnight.

And also the Muslim Leadersshould abandon the examples of Mosesand Joshua and Mohammad (p.b.u.h.) andin our times – the Imam Khomeini. Theyshould not lead the sheep, but they

77

should be lead by the sheep, instead,in order to have a democracy(or demo-crazy): The government of thepeople, by the people and for thepeople! (And this includes legalizingall forms of vices, like gambling, prostitution, homosexual marriages, abortion, and what have you, justbecause the people “tell” theirleaders what to do, and not theleaders “leading” the people.)

And until one of the two campschange, we will have many more crisesbetween Islam and the West, over manymore “cartoons” and “Satanic Verses”!

Persia (Iran) who was an astronomer, philosopher, mathematician and one ofthe most outstanding poets in history(in fact, he is the second bestselling poet in the history ofmankind, after the number one in theworld, which is another Persian poet,Jalalud Din Rumi, the third isShakespear of England). Another goodexample is Al-Farabi (Central Asian)who was a great Philosopher as well asmusician, etc.

Unfortunately most of thesePersian Muslim Scholars were mistakenas “Arabs” just because they wereMuslims’ and their names soundedIslamic (Abu Ali Sina or Avercina of

82

Persia, Al-Biruni, Al-Firuz Abadi,Rumi, Al-Ghazzali, who was consideredby some westerners, “as the mostlearned man in Islam, after theProphet Mohammad himself!” etc.

I also would like to blame somemisguided Arab nationalists, bothpoliticians as well as some authors, who have tried to call almost allPersian Muslims scholars as “Arabs”because of their Islamic/Arabicsounding names, or their books whichwere written in Arabic – the LinguaFranca or the International languageof those days.

Even the credit of conquering Spainby the Muslim military genius, TareqBin Ziad (of Hamadan, Persia, afterwhom the Gibraltar – Jabal At-Tareq or“the mountain of Tareq”, was named”)goes to the “Arabs” or “Moors”(Morrocans) while the researches haveestablished his Islamic, but Persianorigins.

Then comes Ali-Zaryab, the greatestmusician of the Muslim Andalusia andCordoba, (Died 802 A.D.) who foundedthe Latin Music of today, is againcalled “Arab”, while his family name“Zar-yab” shouts loudly in thecorridors of history that he, and even

83

his famous music teacher, Abu IshaqMuseli were both Persian Muslims(Note: Zar-yab is the Persian word for“Gold-Founder” or “Gold-Miner”).

This Ali Zaryab also taught the“three-course-meal” to the Europeanssome 1200 years ago!

Or the interesting history of the“Saracens” (the “Khorasanis” or thePersian Muslim fighters) who were alsocalled “Arabs” or even “Turkish” butnever what they really were – the“Khorasanis” or the Persians of theKhorasan region of the present dayIran.

It seems that the world history hasmany mistakes to correct, and someoneshould do it one day! There are toomany such “mistakes” in the historybooks, to be just “accidental”. I seesome conspiracy or utter ignoranceabout them.

Genuine…

The Islamic Government is the mostnatural and original political systemin the world, today... Just like theearly human governments in history –i.e. Susa, Sumeria, Urok (now Iraq) andArak (now in Iran)…etc., all of whichstarted with “The priest kings”... (Asthe Plato’s “The Republic” is ahistorical witness).

This came to be, after the first“City” (=Government) in the world wasestablished, some 7000 years ago, inthe Western Iran/Eastern Iraq (Medeo-Persia) by the Mahds (Medes) who werethe ancient tribes of the WesternPersia. Actually, the name Mahd (or“Maad” in Pahlavi Language) has becomesynonymous with the word “City” in thePahlavi and Arabic languages, e.g.“Madyan”, Mada-en, Madinah (all fromMahds or the Medes) as well as theAncient City of Ha-Madan (“The Mahd’sor Medes Place / Hamadan” in Iran).Hamadan was one of the four capitals ofthe Persian Empire, the three othersbeing Susa, Persepolis and Baghdad (nowcapital of Iraq).

This ancient Pahlavi word i.e.“Madyan” and its diminutive form i.e.Madina/Medina, entered into the Arabic

95

and other languages later, and theyhave been used in the Holy Qur’an, too.(See ch.28 v.18). The word Madyan, andits derivatives are repeated in theHoly Qur’an 27 times, and in theIslamic History and Hadith, oncountless occasions.

*** “Democracy (Western Style) is actually

the worst form of government; theproblem is that we have nothingbetter.”

Winston Churchill Prime Minister ofEngland 1940 and 1951.
