fRoM THE SEcRETARY’S DESK

Dear members,

Greetings from IADVL KN.

I begin by thanking our members again for giving us an opportunity to

serve this association which has been envisioned and nurtured by doyens to

provide professional excellence. As the pandemic continues to challenge us,

we have risen to the situation and planned to help the front line workers and

community. Doctors and health care professional are the prime warriors in this

pandemic. It is in these testing times, the duty of any association to support

the community.

IADVL KN along with other Dermatologists’ association of Karnataka has

contributed in a big way by providing essential requirements like N 95 masks,

pulse oxymeters, digital BP apparatus, NIV masks and nasal cannulas to 10

medical colleges across Karnataka. To reach the ground level front line workers,

N 95 masks and pulse oxymeters were distributed to all the PHCs in Karnataka.

Our annual midyear conference was MIDCUTICON KN was planned as a fund

raising conference, the income of which will be used exclusively for COVID 19

services. It is an international CME with more than 10 international faculty and

50 plus national faculty. Through our Benevolent fund, we managed to assist

few of our members during these testing times.

A position statement on COVID 19 vaccines and dermatology was published

with emphasis on dermatological diseases, medications and vaccination.

DERMAADVANCE, the flagship program of IADVL KN for exam going

postgraduates was conducted online in January. RESIMED is the weekly

program by IADVL KN Academy which focusses on case discussions and small

topics for benefit of residents. We have completed 50 weekly sessions. CME

on Dermatology teaching for UGs in context of Competency based Medical

Education was also conducted successfully. Practice management cell has

organised CME on GST, artificial intelligence and medico legal issues.

We lost the President elect of IADVL KN Dr. Manjunatha R recently. He was

a very active member of the association and his demise is immense loss to us.

My heart felt condolences to his bereaved family. I pray that the almighty gives

his family the strength to withstand this tragic moment. May his soul rest in

peace.

My thanks to Dr. Sneha M DERMAPEN editor for bringing out this edition

successfully.

I thank our president Dr Shashikumar B M and all office bearers, zonal

and district coordinators, office bearers of sister societies for their active

contribution towards all the activities of IADVL Karnataka.

fRoM THE EDIToR’S DESK

Greetings from the editorial team of Dermapen!

Having managed to tide over the second wave of the COVID -19 pandemic, we bring to you the present edition of

Dermapen. We have had a transition from in-person to virtual events, which now seem smooth because of consistent

efforts of office bearers of IADVL-KN and other sister societies.

The first quarter started off with CUTICON KN 2020, which set a bench mark in terms of its efficient conduct and

academic extravaganza. DERMA ADVANCE 2021, an exceptional activity of IADVL KN Academy for post-graduates

appearing for exams was conducted in January 2021. RESIMED – KN DERM, a weekly program by IADVL KN Academy

has continued to benefit the post graduates. IADVL KN successfully conducted a CME on “Dermatology teaching for

UGs in context of Competency Based Medical Education”. IADVL KN Practice Management Cell organised e-CMEs on

medicolegal issues in Dermatology, artificial intelligence, and clinic account management and GST.

IADVL KN along with its sister societies has prodigiously contributed towards COVID - 19 relief activities, executed in

two phases. During phase 1, essential requirements like N 95 masks, pulse oxymeters, digital BP apparatus, NIV masks

and nasal cannulas were given to ten medical colleges across Karnataka. Phase 2 of the COVID - 19 relief activity catered

to the grass root level front line workers, where N 95 masks and pulse oxymeters were distributed to all the PHCs in

Karnataka.

A major set-back to IADVL KN has been the demise of our President elect Dr. Manjunatha R, who had held

various positions in IADVL KN and has contributed immensely to our association. We deeply mourn the loss of

Dr. Manjunatha R.

We thank Dr. Shashikumar B.M, President, IADVL KN, Dr. Savitha A.S, Honorary Secretary General, IADVL KN, all

the office bearers, zonal and district coordinators, and office bearers of sister societies for their active contribution

to dermapen. It gives us immense pleasure to bring forth such activities and we keenly look forward to your avid

participation in the future.
