Camp Savio 2021 Salesians – Youth Serving Youth

Registration Packet From June 28th to July 30th

Dear Families,

Greetings from St. Dominic Savio Church! We do not know if the summer will look complete or partially open. In these times of

uncertainty, we want to be here for you to support your children as we have done in the past. We still do not know how the summer will look like, but we know that we will be providing Camp Savio 2021 to all our young people.

In 1956, the Salesian Community started Camp Savio at Bellflower with the intention of creating a fun, enriching Catholic environment, where the youth of the community would not only find safety, but family. After 64 years, we have grown as a camp, evolving into a safe and fun summer camp for our children here. We are constantly striving to grow so that we can serve more campers and enhance our programs and activities each and every year. Although our summer camp might be different this year, we will still have the fun! All Camp Savio staff have been trained in giving your child(ren) the best summer camp experience. They have been trained in child psychology, risk management, and best practices in how to communicate with children and youth both in person and online. We have also added online training for our Counselors and Head Counselors to continue to build their skills and knowledge. They have also been trained on following our implementation of the guidelines for summer day camps provided by the CDC. Inside this packet you will find all the details and paperwork necessary for you to register your child(ren) in our fantastic summer experience. Thank you very much for entrusting your child(ren) to our care. We look forward to welcoming your child(ren) into our family. Sincerely in Christ,

Jc Montenegro Coordinator of Youth Ministry

FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS Assumption of Risk/Waiver of Liability/Indemnity Agreement The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, regulated the congregation of certain groups of people. The Salesian Family Youth Center (SFYC) has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, the SFYC cannot guarantee that you or your child(ren) will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, attending the SFYC could increase your risk and your child(ren)’s risk of contracting COVID-19, and spreading it to family members or other contacts. By signing this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) and I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending the SFYC and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at the SFYC may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, SFYC employees, volunteers, and program participants and their families. I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to my child(ren) or myself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I or my child(ren) may experience or incur in connection with my child(ren)’s attendance at the SFYC or participation in SFYC programming. On my behalf, and on behalf of my children, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, indemnify, and hold harmless the SFYC, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind by any person or entity arising out of or relating thereto. I understand and agree that this release and indemnity agreement includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of the SFYC, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any SFYC program.
