In modern day society where each one of us has become more materialistic in our thinking and approach, my thinking is that education should be targeted to serving collective aspiration in-stead of mere achievement of individual goals. Education must serve as a means of leading the society to subsist a better life and make this planet a more livable place for our future gener-ations. Students need to be trained to imagine their profession having social significance, but beyond consumerism. I firmly believe that quality education is no more a luxury, instead it is to be seen as an essential social requirement and also the curricular as well as teaching pedagogy should be effectual to meet the impending challenges. Therefore, the foremost challenge before higher education institutions is to produce intellectual capital that can create new opportunities; impart right skills among people enabling them to work in choicest domains; develop ability to create new knowledge through re-search providing solutions to problems.

Societal growth to me is a combination of accumulation of knowledge with reasonable capital formation and its equitable distribution. Science and technology helping in building today’s modern society are major contributions of human develop-ment, and everyone needs to internalize the same irrespec-tive of his/her occupational requirement. At the same time, the fundamental concept of ‘improving quality of life’ should not be lost in harnessing the science and technology for economic well-being.

It gives me immense pleasure that Teerthanker Mahaveer Uni-versity has brilliantly demonstrated its commitment to continu-ous intellectual development and transformation of society in a short span of just seven years of its coming into existence. The university is blessed with outstanding people and infrastructure that are dedicated to its mission of nurturing scholars who are capable of contributing to social development. I wish that entire faculty, students, and staff of TMU achieve greater heights in all endeavours.

It is my firm belief that harmonious development of the soci-ety can be achieved by enlightenment of the individual heart, mind and soul. This has become a pre-requisite in today’s fast changing world where material gains have out-placed basic human values. I am of the firm opinion that education being a powerful instrument of socio-economic change can transform the attitude, thinking and life style of the people and society. Knowledge gained by individuals makes them more flexible in their thinking and decision making thereby making the mother earth a healthier place to live.

I have always dreamt of empowering the society with enlight-ened, skillful, and socially relevant citizens, which can be pos-sible only by educating the masses. As such, we initiated in this benign task of reconstructing the social order by establishing educational establishments, thus contributing to the develop-ment of nation in our own humble way. Teerthanker Mahaveer University has taken the task of developing human capital in tune with the requirements of industry and the society by inte-grating the basic principles of Right Philosophy, Right Knowl-edge and Right Conduct in its policies and programs.

The university stands for humanism, tolerance, reason, adven-ture of ideas and the search of truth. We ensure that multitude of students study in a tolerant but encouraging environment that provides adequate liberty for individual ambition and life-style. The multi-disciplinary approach of our curriculum, focus on experiential learning, leveraging of ICT for better content delivery, and provisions for sports and extracurricular activities are integral components of the learning process.

I extend my best wishes to all the aspirants and assure that under the mentorship of dedicated faculty of this prestigious university they shall be able to take full advantage of opportu-nities offered to them.

With an objective to provide quality education at affordable cost, we resolved to establish a repository of knowledge and diverse activities of human interest encompassing academics, art & culture, sports and community services that are vital to academic, physical and mental development of the students of new age. Knowledge acquired in an inspiring environment through considerately designed courses helps to augment the inherent talent of learner and sharpens the skill set enabling him to acquire a meaningful place in society, leading to a cheerful personal and professional life.

I have always believed that success of an educational system hinges on effective planning, efficient administration, adequate financing and authentic evaluation system. It is gratifying to note that we have been able to develop proper system of learn-ing in the university, which promotes brilliance and enables us to develop trust, fairness, respect and accountability among all the stakeholders. Massive infrastructure created in terms of spacious academic and residential buildings, workshops, labo-ratories, language labs, shopping centre and cafeteria besides auditoria, indoor/outdoor sports complexes has proved to be catalyst in holistic development of the students.

Students from all corners of the country as well as from abroad experience a stimulating environment that is conducive for ev-eryone to excel, strengthening international brotherhood. The green, vegetarian, healthy and secure campus further adds to their creditable learning experience.

We call upon all the applicants to avail plethora of opportunities provided by this young university in building career and serve the society.

Progressively evolving globalised community and the dynamic nature of contemporary competitive environment requires com-petent professionals who are capable of challenging the status quo. This in turn requires a relook on the conventional ways of imparting higher education in the country. As academic leaders and higher education administrators, we carry the responsibili-ty to look beyond just classroom teaching supplemented with a couple of practical/laboratory hours. Regular inputs in the shape of interdisciplinary exposure, soft skills, liberal choice of courses, flexible schedules, community and social service, extension ac-tivities etc. have become the order of the day to prepare a com-plete professional having adequate social relevance.

TMU has adopted all this in its functioning and works beyond just building awe-inspiring physical infrastructure by developing a campus culture that treasures skilled learning providing ample opportunities of real life experiences thus enhancing proficiency and superiority of our students. We are relentlessly geared for continuous up-gradation of our resources and leverage emerging technologies to improve our efficiency and effectiveness. All our programmes of study as well as their delivery mechanism and learning outcomes are designed to channelise the bubbling ener-gy of today’s youth to groom them to take-on all challenges of life.

I invite you to be a part of this vibrant culture and realise your dreams by contributing to socio-economic transformation of the global society.

about Moradabad

road Map of the university

distance between Moradabad important neighbouring cities

Moradabad was founded in 1625 and named after Murad, a son of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan. The ruins of a fort built in 1625 lie in the northern part of the city.

It is believed that brassware industry traces its roots to Moradabad and has now spread to the rest of the country. Although the art of brassware developed in the period of Mughals, evidence suggests that Indians, from around 3000 B.C., knew the process of metallurgy. Discovery of a bronze statue of ‘Dancing Girl’ in Harappa excavation proves this assertion.

The brassware industry in Moradabad saw its boom during the early 19th century and the British carried the art of making brass-ware to foreign markets. Artisans from Benaras, Lucknow, Agra and Jalesar formed the current cluster of brassware industry in Moradabad. In 1980, various other metal wares like brass, EPNS, iron, aluminum, etc., were introduced. New technologies like electroplating, lacquering, powder coating, also found application in the industry.

At Moradabad, there are several hundred units engaged in manufacture and export of brass products. Almost all major retail chains like Walmart, IKEA, Target, etc., purchase brass products from Moradabad. Average annual export of brassware and handicraft items from Moradabad to rest of the world is to the tune of Rs. 3,000 crore, which constitutes 40% of total exports from India under this category. Moradabad city is a designated Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of the Government of India.

Over the years, Moradabad has grown in terms of population, business, infrastructure and administrative setup. Presently, the city has a population of 1.2 million and is the administrative headquarter of Moradabad, Amroha, Rampur and Bijnor districts. The civil amenities of the city are managed by Municipal Corporation headed by the Mayor. To further augment development of the city, the government has created Moradabad Development Authority.

The city is connected to seven state capitals and as many as 16 other industrial towns and large urban business centers. Delhi is only 152 km away. Famous hill stations of Nainital and Mussoorie are within 200 km from Moradabad city. Hastinapur, the holy city of Jains is 120 km. away from Moradabad.

The city is surrounded by industrial hubs like Rudrapur, Haridwar, Roorkee, Meerut, Kashipur, Noida and Delhi, providing ample opportunities for graduating students to get trained and absorbed both in Indian and multinational companies.
