I would like to personally welcome all competitors, sponsors, vendors, family, and friends to the 2021 National Sporting Clays Championship! We are all very excited to be back to offering all of the fun and entertainment you know and love about “Nationals”!

We will be offering complimentary beer, wine and hors d’ oeuvres several evenings as well as our Championship Parties on Friday and Saturday night. (Your schedule of event will have the exact dates and times.) Friday evening the Top Gun Shoot-Off is returning to the Stadium brought to you by Shooting Glass Specialist, Bearpelt Vests, and the NSCA, and then on Saturday evening the Federal North vs. Remington South Shoot-Out will be held. Many great random draw prizes will be given away each night, including guns, but you must be present to win the giveaways. These are events you don’t want to miss!

Something new are doing this year is a “Pink Out” day for Breast Cancer Awareness month. On Friday the 29th we are encouraging everyone to participate by wearing something, or everything, pink! Commemorative shirts are available in the general store and all proceeds from the sale of them will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

You will again have the opportunity to earn your Elite Shotguns Golden Tickets on the Main Event and Beretta Challenge Tickets on the Super Sporting, and we would never forget the crowd favorite MEC Golden Target scavenger hunt.

Please take a moment during the event to join me in congratulating all the 2021 NSCA Hall of Fame inductees and award recipients. This year’s Hall of Fame inductee for shooting achievement is Carl “Skip” Zapffe and Lois Neely and Phil Murray will be awarded the du Pont Service award. The banquet will be held on Thursday evening and additional information on tickets and location is available in the program.

Friday morning, we will be offering a “ladies tour” that will be traveling to historic Castroville. There are a limited number of seats available, and the tour will include a stop at the Landmark Inn historical site, a wine tasting, and shopping as well as lunch and a few other adventures. Full details are available in the program.

Opening Ceremonies will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the stadium field. Immediately following that we will not only be drawing for the USA Sporting Clays Team Raffle K-80 Shotgun, but we will kick off the annual Top Gun Shoot-Out as well. This year’s Top Gun event is sponsored by Shooting Glass Specialist, Blaser USA and the NSCA.

Last but surely not least, Kolar Arms will again continue the tradition of awarding a Championship Ring to not only the National Champion but the Sub-Gauge National Champion as well. We want to give a special thanks to Kolar for their generous donation to not only the National Championship but their continued support of shotgun sports around the country.

As you enjoy your time here, please remember that our sponsors are a critical part of the National Championship and the NSCA. Our continued success is due in large part to their participation as well as all of yours. Please be sure to stop by and visit all our vendors during your stay in San Antonio; you might just find something you didn’t know you needed until you see it.

Thank You and Good Luck to everyone!

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP RING

Kolar Arms continues their commitment to the NSCA National Championship ring program that has been in place for over two decades Kolar President, John Ramagli, elaborated on the history of the program and clarified the policy in place to recognize multiple year winners “The program has been in place since 1985 for NSSA Skeet and was initiated by former Kolar owner Don Mainland as a way to recognize National Champions in that sport Phil Murray was the first person to win the NSSA ring It was adopted for sporting clays starting in the early 1990s, but we also went back and awarded rings to the NSCA National Champions who won the Nationals before the program was in place for that sport” Ramagli said Kolar even went so far as to retrospectively award a ring to 1989 Nationals winner Jim Jamison, winner of the first ever NSCA Nationals, held at Minnesota Horse and Hunt, along with all other previous winners

In 2010 Kolar initiated a second NSCA program – the Sub Gauge Championship HOA ring, which is awarded each year to the shooter who wins the combined high sub gauge score across all three gauges at the National Championship Sub gauge shooter extraordinaire, Scott Robertson, was the first ever NSCA Sub Gauge ring recipient Ramagli says the sub gauge ring is a very special award – and has a

distinctive look to it, setting it apart from the ring that is awarded for the Nationals’ Main Event

Ramagli explained the policy for acknowledging multiple-year Champions this way The first time a shooter wins HOA at the Championship he is awarded a ring, which is augmented with multiple diamond chips in the ring bezel upon winning a second Championship A third Championship earns a proportionally-sized diamond in the large stone A second ring would be awarded upon winning a fourth Championship, should that occur The rings are funded entirely by Kolar and are crafted by Jostens, maker of fine rings used to acknowledge championships and events by professional sports leagues like the National Football League, Major League Baseball, National Hockey League, National Basketball League and NASCAR

“We’ve committed to the ring program with the NSSA and NSCA for years to come,” said Ramagli NSCA expresses its appreciation to Kolar Arms and John Ramagli whose support raises the bar for the game of sporting clays

Jimmy worked in the sporting clays industry for 25 years, dedicating his service not only to growing our sport but also being an ambassador for youth target shooting. He started his career at the National Shooting Complex, traveled around the country to different clubs, then finally ended his career working at Birds Landing Hunting Preserve & Sporting Clays in California.

Every year one of the courses in the main event at Nationals will be selected, and the high score of that course will be awarded the Jimmy Reed Memorial Trophy. A perpetual trophy will be housed in the Hall of Fame Museum displaying the name of each year’s winner.

A Krieghoff competition shotgun is

always a very personalized firearm.

For years, engravers have artfully

applied the finishing touch to guns,

lending them a unique character

and an expression of their worth.

So, what could be more appropriate

than underlining the uniqueness of

a Krieghoff with the aura of an artistic

engraving?

The following pages will give you a sense

of the available options and some ideas

for creating your dream Krieghoff.

DETERMINING A NATIONAL CHAMPIONIf the main event of the National Championship is shortened due to the occurrence of any natural disaster, act of God or event beyond the direct, immediate control of the National Shooting Complex and National Sporting Clays Association the following procedure will be used to establish the National champion, runner-up, and third place as well as first, second and third places in all Classes and Concurrents1 The total scores shot from all competitors plus the addition of 75 targets for

any courses not shot will be the raw score to determine the champion, runner-up, and third place for the championship as well as first, second and third places in all Classes and Concurrents No champion will be named unless all competitors have shot at least 150 targets

2 Wednesday can be used to make up any day lost on either of the two day rotations, however if for any reason any rotation cannot be completed for any day, then that entire rotation will be counted as 75 targets for each competitor on each rotation If this is to happen on one of the two day rotations, then the corresponding rotation(s) for the 4-day rotation will also be counted as 75 targets to each competitor If one of the rotations on the 4-day cannot be completed for any reason, then the corresponding rotation on the 2-day rotations will be counted as 75 targets

3 Ties will be shot-off or broken as if no uncontrollable occurrence has happened
