The Date Palm Development Research Unit Department extends its warmest greetings to you. As you know, as part of its concern with the agricultural sector, the United Arab Emirates considers the palm tree as a main priority being the symbol of the national heritage. In this regard, the Date Palm Development Research Unit Department is considered one of the many projects implemented by the United Arab Emirates University. This Department works on increasing the number of planted palm trees by using the tissue culture technology and preparing research programs for the palm tree specifically. Since its establishment in 1989, the Unit managed to produce around one million palm trees spanning 65 different species. These trees were distributed inside and outside the UAE.

Therefore, we are pleased to support you with all means possible in order to help include the palm tree on the UNESCO representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, a step that will significantly help preserve our national heritage.
