ABOUT THE AWARD

The Prime Minister’s Export Award is proud of its achievements of over

27 years as a factor that helps drive the Thai economy.

The Prime Minister’s Export Award was established in 1992 by the Ministry

of Commerce, Royal Thai Government, as an honorable accolade to the

country’s outstanding exporters. The Award’s primary objective is to

invigorate Thai economy through brand creation, product development,

and high quality standards in the manufacturing and service industries.

In addition, it hopes to raise competitiveness and recognition of Thai products

and services in the international market. The Award aims to inspire and

encourage Thai entrepreneurs to establish an international presence under

Thai brand names with Thai designs. Moreover, the PM Award helps to

promote a positive image of Thai organizations and the reputation of Thai

products and services on a global scale.

The Prime Minister’s Export Award will continue to energize Thai exporters

to uphold their path to success, while raising consumer con dence in Thai

products and services in the international trade arena.

LEADINGTHE WAYThe Prime Minister’s Export Award has played a significant

role in supporting Thai businesses to export and explore world

markets with own brand names and unique designs.

Noteworthy progress has been made each year to stimulate

Thai entrepreneurs to enhance their quality and standards

while being environmentally conscious and sustainable. The

award has always been aware of the world economic

turbulence and changes, which is why new categories are

added.

The Prime Minister’s Export Award serves as a quality

assurance, paving the way to international recognition with

pride and confidence. The award has been supporting and

promoting Thai entrepreneurs to develop their performance

to reach international markets.

Design Excellence Award (DEmark) was

established in 2008 in order to give recognition

to outstanding product design.The Department

of International Trade Promotion (DITP)

receives cooperation from the Japan Institute

of Design Promotion (JDP) in determining

the judging criteria for DEmark Award of

Thailand, inviting experts to be judges, and

also help promote the award to be accepted

in the international arena. DEmark logo is

given to winners so that it can be used to promote

the products. The DEmark award winners

with the highest scores in each category will

receive an honorable Prime Minister’s Export

Award for Best Design.

I founded Korakot International Limited Partnership on December

29, 2006. It was after I had received several orders. I started off with

training 10 workers in order to provide them with steady income and

career opportunity in the community. I usually have my university friends

help me come up with new ideas for new creations which can be divided

into 3 groups: (1) sculpture; (2) sculpture and architectural construction

and (3) products.

My inspiration comes from the environment which I have changed

into works of art with the use of natural materials, such as bamboos and

hemp ropes. The techniques have been adopted from kite-making that

I had learned from my grandfather who is an expert on Chula kite. I have

added functions into it so that my works are suitable for decorating

homes and buildings today.

Through every piece, I feel that I have promoted simple techniques

discovered by Thai people to the higher level with designs inspired by

the surroundings in this local area. I create my pieces of work. I offer

career opportunity for the locals and by doing so the community will be

strengthened and finally be able to improve its capability. The product

value will bring about national income which will later reach to the hands

of the locals.

After graduating from the Faculty of Decorative Arts, Silpakorn

University, I have been so passionate about design because of its

capability. Besides providing me with personal income, it results in the

higher income of the locals. They can look after themselves as well as

their families. In addition, it also maintains the Thai identities and

uniqueness. Nowadays, I can help 60 people and I will continue to help

more people. Design can better the society if we make good use of it.

I have chosen Seesuk bamboo because of its flexibility and it has

to be at least 3 years old. The techniques are adopted from kite-making

techniques and the structure construction follows that of woven works.

In the creation of my art works, latex and ropes are mainly used and later

the works are coated by wood preservative.

My works represent the local techniques and Thai culture. Colors

and designs have been added in order to make it suitable for modern-

styled decoration. On solid wall, my pieces of work will soften the

atmosphere in a square room.

“SAN PAD Collection” from RENIM PROJECT is inspired by a local

traditional Thai hand fan which has been creating and developing for

decades by the local people’s knowledges. They use the hand fan in the

kitchen to cook with stove or even to use it as a fan to release the heat

of the body. RENIM PROJECT bring the valuable traditinal Thai hand fan

technique to create several sizes of bag together with 3 - 4 vintage denims.

Remake the denims into lines with sewing technique to make them

stronger, mixed with 3 vintage color t-shirts in sort of a strong line as

well. From all the storing lines of these fabrics, we weave them together

to be same as the traditional Thai hand fan. Inside the bag, we use the

real vintage jeans to be a lining also put some waste of leather from the

factory into some design of the bags. Designing and creating these bags

from RENIM PROJECT are to encourage people to value the leftovers or

waste and add value also decrease waste as well.
