D ie österreichische Bundeshauptstadt besitzt viele Gesichter und Facetten. Als ehemalige Kaiserstadt erinnert unsere Stadt mit ihren Kunstschätzen und prachtvolle Baudenkmälern an die imperiale Epoche

der Donaumonarchie. Wien ist auch eine Hochburg der Musik, in der die größten Komponisten der Geschichte gelebt und gewirkt haben – genauso eine moderne UNO-Stadt im Herzen Europas, die als Stätte der internationalen Verständigung weltweites Ansehen genießt. Die Donaumetropole ist aber auch eine Stadt der Lebensfreude und jenes Lebensgefühls, wie es Wiener Institutionen wie das Kaffeehaus oder der Heurige vermitteln. Wien ist aber vor allem ein Ort der Begegnung. Deshalb freut es mich besonders, dass Sie unsere Stadt als Ort des Treffens der „Iriguenos“ aus aller Welt gewählt haben. Ich wünsche Ihnen ein erfolgreiches Treffen und ein paar angenehme Tage in Wien und hoffe, dass Sie auch abseits Ihres Programms unsere Stadt mit all ihren Sehenswürdigkeiten genießen können. —————————— Translation The capital of the Austrian federal government has many faces and facets. As a former imperial city, the city reminds with her art treasures and historical monuments of the Habsburg monarchy. Vienna is also a stronghold of music in which the greatest composers of the history have lived and worked -- just the same as the modern UNO city in the heart of Europe, which enjoys a worldwide reputation as a place of the international community. Further, one can feel in this the zest and awareness for life in this big Danube city. This could be felt with the existence of traditional Viennese institutions like the café or the heurigen. Indeed, Vienna is primarily a place of meetings and conferences. Therefore I am particularly pleased that you have chosen our city as a place for the meeting of the "Iriguenos" coming from all over the world. Magbinaydan 2008 will give you a taste of Austria – its proud culture, beautiful sights, great cuisine and gentle people. The real success of this event is largely determined not only by the planning and preparation, but also by the enthusiasm of all the participants. It is remembered not only by the food that is served and the beautiful places that are visited, but more importantly by the number of encounters with people one has not seen in a long, long time. Let us all enjoy and have a grand time! I take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed their time and resources in the planning and preparation for this event – sponsors, supporters, committee members and friends here in Austria and abroad. Message

I RIGA, a small city in the Bicol Region, southern part of the Philippines, produces great people called IRIGUENOS who have migrated to the different parts of the world as professionals. It has its own dialect and culture which makes it different from the rest of the provinces in the Bicol Region. Iriga is known as the HEART of the Bicol Region considering its geographical location. Whereever you go, you can find one, two or more Iriguenos worldwide. It is wonderful and great to find someone who has the same culture and speaks the same dialect as you do in every part of the world ! It all started on February 27, 1993 when a handful of Iriguenos in Ocean Country, Southern New Jersey, USA, met and organized themselves with a promise to promote unity, friendship and camaraderie among all our "kababayans" in America and Canada. This meeting rekindles unforgettable memories, shared new experiences and strengthen the belongingness and camaraderie of the Iriguenos; thus the birth of UNITED IRIGA ASSOCIATION of USA, chaired by Dr. Ed Nepumoceno. The first grand reunion was held on July 28-30,1993. The three days of interaction among our kababayans was a thrill and experience of a lifetime. There were tears of joy, hugs and kisses among friends and acquaintances. The goal was achieved and the bond of friendship and camaraderie was strengthened. The clamor for the next reunion was great, especially for those who missed the affair. As Dr. Ed said ; " The seed was planted and we waited for it to grow and blossom to a big fruitful tree". It took a decayed for the tree to bear fruit, and this time in Washington DC, under the leadership of Mr. Emilio "Billy" Nadal last July 2002. This is the first time the word MAGBINAYDAN was used to name the celebration, which forged strong ties and closeness among the Iriguenos; young and old. The affair

was a great success. To nourish and norture the tree, fellow kababayans in San Diego, headed by Manoy Mcking Alanis organized the Iriga Sumagang Summit Reunion on July 2-4, 2004 with the hope that coming together will be a new beginning for Iriga. The organizers hope to build a bridge bolted with hopes for the future. The goal is to focus with one vision, the collective desire for Iriga`s progress. Because of the overwhelming success in the past, the next MAGBINAYDAN came last July 2-4, 2005, held in Toronto, Canada. The chairman of this

affair was Dr. Boy Filio. "Nababayad ko ang diri ko nabayad, nabibisto ko ang diri ko nabisto!" This affair has been another " feather in the cap" for all the Iriguenos around the world, that the founders and organizers decided another celebration; this time MAGBINAYDAN goes EUROPE. The decision was that 2008 will be held in Vienna, Austria. It was unanimously decided that Mr. Edsel Angeles will take the lead, together with all the Iriguenos in Austria accepted the challenge of hosting this year`s celebration with the hope that all our kababayans all over the world will support and be part of this momentous event. MAGBINAYDAN kita sadi Vienna, Austria on July 7-12, 2008. HERZLICH WILLKOMMEN in ÖSTERREICH !!! DANKE . . . DIOS MABALOS ! ! !
