Script by Jenny Phillips

Young Woman Narrator !1: “We are daughters of our Heavenly Father who loves us, and we love Him.”

Adult Narrator: With mighty power, God created the earth. He spoke and mountains thrust up from the earth, vast oceans formed, and millions of colossal stars filled the sky. But His greatest work was to create tabernacles, or bodies, for his beloved spirit children. He created man in His own image and likeness. We are the creation and masterpiece of almighty God. Because Satan does not have a body, he does everything in his power to destroy the sanctity and holiness of the bodies we’ve been given. The results of his work are evident everywhere as we see a flood of immorality, immodesty, and pornography fill the world. As Paul once cried out to his people, so must our Father in Heaven cry out today: “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God?” (1 Corinthians 3:16)

Young women of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have the incredible blessing of understanding who they really are. Amidst a world of confusion and darkness, it’s inspiring to know that hundreds of thousands, even millions of young women across the world stand each week and say the simple but powerful words, “We are daughters of our Heavenly Father who loves us, and we love him.”

Perform Song: Daughter of a King [Female Soloist & Choir]

Young Woman Narrator !2: “Let virtue garnish thy thoughts unceasingly; then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God" (D&C 121:45). Adult Narrator: David O. Mckay said, “With whatever thoughts you have, almost your outward expression will be shaped. Some or all of you girls wish to be beautiful. Those of you who wish you could be more beautiful . . . should know this, that some of the most beautiful characters in the world have changed their very features by their inward thoughts. They have cherished noble ideals. They have cultivated cheerfulness. They radiate cheer wherever they go.” (Steppingstones to an Abundant Life, [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book, 1971] 57-58)

Nothing will make you as attractive in this world as having the Holy Ghost in your life. The scriptures promise us that when we are virtuous our confidence will wax strong in the presence of God. Women who dress modestly and think and act with virtue carry with them a blessing of strength and a beauty of spirit that cannot be duplicated in any other way. Spencer W. Kimball explained that, “A woman is most beautiful when her body is clothed . . . Then she is at her best, and men will love her for it. And men will not love her more because her neck or back is bare. Young women, if he is decent and worthy of you he will love you more when you are properly dressed!” (Faith Precedes the Miracle, [Salt Lake City: Deseret Book, 1972], 165)

iii

Every one of us has had times when we have gazed into a night bursting with stars or watched a sunset fill the sky with an amazing splendor. At times like these, we are reminded of the majesty of the creator’s hand. He has designed us to be His most beautiful creation. It’s not through makeup or size 4 designer jeans that we will become the masterpiece God designed for us to be. George Q. Cannon said, “Virtue lies at the foundation of greatness.” (In Journal of Discourses, 26 vols. [London: Latter-day Saints’ Book Depot, 1854-86], 24:225)

Perform Song: Because I Believe [Female Soloist]

Young Woman Narrator !3: “We will stand as witnesses of God at all times, and in all things, and in all places.” Young Woman Narrator !4: Before I came to this earth, I promised to be a witness of God at all times. By the things I watch on television, the movies I go to, and the music I listen to, I choose whether or not I am a witness of God. It may not always be easy or popular, but I will not forget why I came here and what I promised to do. I will be a witness of God at all times. Young Woman Narrator !5: Every week I stand and promise that I will be a witness of God. This means that I must live my life differently than much of the world. I will live with virtue in my thoughts and in my actions because I have promised my Heavenly Father that He can count on me to be His witness on this earth. Young Woman Narrator !6: As a young woman in these latter days, I hold the powerful knowledge of who I am and the promises I have made. I will live with virtue in my life because I want the Spirit to shine in me. I want to stand out to the world as a witness of God at all times, and in all things, and in all places.

Perform Song: Where You Stand [Female Soloist]

Adult Narrator: In the 2 Kings we read the story of Elisha. A whole army,--“horses, chariots, and a great host”-- came and surrounded Elisha and his young servant. Elisha’s servant was terrified and cried out, “Alas, my master! how shall we do?” Elisha replied, “Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.” But the young servant could see no others that were with them. Then Elisha turned his eyes heavenward, saying, “Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.” And, “the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” (2 Kings 6:14-17). The situation Elisha was in seemed hopeless. Just one man and his servant surrounded by a massive army. But when their eyes were opened, they saw that they did not stand alone but had the mighty power of God and the hosts of heaven with them. Young women of these latter days, the adversary does not want your eyes to be opened. He does not want you to see the power of God that is waiting to be on your side the second you turn to seek it. You are a daughter of the most noble and mighty king. He has never left you. He and His son, Jesus Christ, will ever remain true to you. You may feel small and weak and unimportant, but you are loved by the king that rules the kingdom from which you came. You are never forgotten by Him. He and His Son will stand by you every step of the way. They will remind you of your nobility. They will strengthen you. They will lead you along. The promise in the scriptures is everlasting: “Thy God shall stand by thee forever and ever.” (D&C 122:4)
