APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION INTO DIPLOMA IN BASIC EDUCATION BY DISTANCE LEARNING 2015/2016 ACADEMIC YEAR

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The offline/paper Application Form is NOT FOR SALE. It is only to help you gather the necessary

documents and information you will need to successfully complete your application online, without

spending much time on the Internet. If you cannot do the online application by yourself, you may send

your completed paper application form to an Internet Café or to the JEC Head Office, if you live in

Kumasi, to have it registered online for you. Online application at the Head Office costs GHS 10.00.

All applications must however be completed ONLINE before the deadline – Friday, 13th November 2015.

Carefully read the following instructions before you complete the offline/paper application form.

i. Fill the paper application form in BLOCK (CAPITAL) letters.

ii. Exercise great care in completing your application. Be particularly careful with the presentation of

your names, examination grades and contact details as any error may lead to the rejection of your

application or inability to reach you.

iii. Ensure to affix your recent passport picture, taken against a white background. Write your full

name at the back of the picture. Ensure that your face is not covered and both ears are visible.

Scarfs, caps, veils, etc. are strictly not allowed.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR 2015/2016 ADMISSIONS

The minimum entry requirements for the 3-year Diploma in Basic Education programme through

Distance Learning are:

A. REGULAR APPLICANTS

i. West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) Holders

Five (5) credit passes (A1 - C6) in three (3) core subjects (i.e. Core English Language, Core Mathematics

and either Social Studies or Integrated Science) and any two (2) elective subjects.

ii. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) Holders

Five (5) credit passes (A - D) in three (3) core subjects (i.e. Core English Language, Core Mathematics and

either Social Studies or Integrated Science) and any two (2) elective subjects.

B. TEACHERS’ CERTIFICATE ‘A’ HOLDERS

A pass in all subjects taken in the final examinations of the Colleges of Education.

C. MATURE APPLICANTS

Applicants who are twenty-five (25) years and above, with passes in English and Mathematics in

WASSCE/SSSCE/GCE ‘O’ Level can also apply as Mature Students and will only be admitted after a pass in

an Entrance Examination conducted by the Affiliate University. Proof of age such as a birth certificate or

any other legitimate document is required.

Details of the Entrance Examination are as follows:

Subjects: English and Mathematics (based on the SHS syllabus)

Date: Saturday, 28th November, 2015.

Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm

Exam Fee: Sixty Ghana Cedis (GHS 60.00) (to be paid on the exam day)

National ID card: Voter ID, driving licence, passport or NHIS ID.

Proof of Registration: Printout of the online application confirmation letter.

HOW TO APPLY

To apply online for admission into the 2015/2016 academic year, purchase an E-voucher at One Hundred

Ghana Cedis (GHS 100.00). The E-voucher contains the Serial Number and PIN Number with which you

can access the admissions portal to begin your online application.

You can purchase an E-voucher through any of the following means:

A. Bank: E-vouchers can be purchased at any branch of these banks, nationwide: ADB, Cal Bank,

Ecobank, Fidelity Bank, HFC Bank, Prudential Bank, Unibank & Universal Merchant Bank.

B. Online: E-vouchers can also be purchased online with a Visa Card or through MTN Mobile Money,

using a registered number, at the admissions page on www.jackson.edu.gh

C. MTN Mobile Money: E-vouchers can again be purchased through MTN Mobile Money using a

subscriber’s mobile phone or at any MTN Service Centre, nationwide. The steps are:

On your phone menu, go to My MTN and select MobileMoney

(Alternatively, dial *170# to take you straight to the MobileMoney menu)

Select Pay Bill

Select General Payment

Enter forms jec under payment code

Enter your MobileMoney PIN

Press Ok to confirm payment to Jackson Educational Complex Application Form

Enter a suitable reference e.g. jec forms

Enter 100 for amount. (Note: You can only purchase one E-voucher at a time)

Confirm payment again

Enter your MobileMoney PIN

You will receive;

a. SMS confirmation message for a successful payment.

b. Another SMS notification message containing the Serial Number and PIN Number.

Having purchased your E-voucher, now follow the steps below to apply online.

1. Log onto www.admissions.jackson.edu.gh

2. Enter the Serial Number and PIN Number

3. Upload your passport picture

4. Carefully complete the Online Application Form

5. Submit the Online Application Form

6. Complete the Online Application Survey

7. Print the Online Application Confirmation Letter

Note:

Record and keep your Serial and PIN Numbers and the printed Online Application Confirmation

Letter in a safe place. You will need them for the entrance examination and also to check your

Admission Status online from 14th December 2015.
