Broward Education Foundation’s Innovative Teacher Honors Reception.
Broward Teachers Union – Engaging and Empowering Educators
1
WELCOMEDear Friends:
While this annual event was canceled due to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Broward Education Foundation continues to proudly award monetary grants for Innovative Teachers who have developed classroom curriculum that engages and propels students to success in Broward County Public Schools. Funding for these grants is made possible through public-private partnerships, business and community leaders and most importantly, contributors to the Education First Employee Giving Campaign. This year, we are proud to share:
Innovative Teacher Start-Up GrantsInnovative ideas developed by teachers who receive initial grant funds to implement them.
28 Teachers will receive more $24,500 in Start-Up Grants
Disseminator GrantsProven and tested innovative curriculum with measurable outcomes; following a “best practices” model, teachers receive grant funds to package and share their teaching strategy through curriculum packets, visual displays and peer-to-peer workshops.
22 Teachers will receive $20,000 in Disseminator Grants
Adapter GrantsDue to the timing of the quarantine, the Adapter Grant Funds were rapidly re-purposed to help grant winning teachers “build out” their virtual classrooms- all to keep students engaged, focused and learning. This was made possible through a partnership with Office Depot.
183 Teachers received more than $72,000 in Virtual Learning Teacher Supply Grants
We are pleased to continue our longstanding partnership with the City of Hollywood’s Education Advisory Committee, through which 28 Hollywood teachers will receive more than $20,000 in grant funding.
Finally, four teachers are the proud recipients of Motorola and AT&T STEM grants valued at a total of $11,000.
Broward Education Foundation is immensely grateful to all Innovative Teacher Grant sponsors and donors for their commitment to improving the quality of education in Broward County Public Schools.
Our heartfelt congratulations to each grant recipient for your dedication to educational excellence. While we wish we’d had the opportunity to recognize your creativity and unwavering focus on enhancing learning in person, we none the less proudly salute you and your achievements!
Sincerely,
Frank Horkey, ChairBroward Education Foundation

BROWARD EDUCATION FOUNDATION IS…
…FOSTERING INNOVATIVE TEACHERSSome of the best teaching methods come from the county’s best assets - teachers in Broward County Public Schools. Broward Education Foundation fosters Innovative Teachers in the district with a multi-faceted K-12 “best practices” model. Innovative Teacher Start-Up, Disseminator and Adapter Grants recognize and reward educators for developing programs and modifying existing ones to enhance student curriculum and increase positive outcomes - all grant funds awarded to educators are used in the classroom for the benefit of students. The Annual Innovative Teacher IDEA EXPO prominently showcases the programs that have made a significant and measurable impact in student achievement, and the Innovative Teacher Honors Reception recognizes the great strides these amazing educators make every day in classrooms across Broward County.
…EQUIPPING STUDENTS FOR SUCCESSChoosing between purchasing school supplies for their children and putting food on the table is an unfortunate reality for many parents. Broward Education Foundation’s Tools for Schools Broward helps alleviate that burden and assures Title I school teachers, or those with a high percentage of children from low-income families, are able to equip these students to succeed. Through the generosity displayed in the Tools for Schools Broward Back-To-School Supply Drive by corporations, foundation partnerships, grants, and individual donors, Tools for Schools Broward Center provides free school supplies for Broward County’s most vulnerable children.
…STEWARDING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPSAs many of Broward’s children look to their future, college can seem a distant dream. But with assistance from Broward Education Foundation, a post-secondary education becomes a reality. Broward Education Foundation awards scholarships primarily based on need, as well as on merit and academic achievement. Thanks to the Stanley C. Tate Florida Prepaid College Scholarship Program and generous community donors, qualified seniors who wish to pursue a university, college or vocational education are awarded scholarships ranging from $500 to full four-year Florida Prepaid tuitions.
…BUILDING PARTNERS IN EDUCATIONCorporations, businesses and organizations seeking to actively engage in support of Broward County Public Schools need look no further than Broward Education Foundation. The Partners in Education program is Broward County’s go-to resource for businesses that want to positively impact PreK-12 students and teachers in Broward County Public Schools . As the nation’s sixth largest school district, Broward County Public Schools rely on the only 501(c)3 fundraising and direct support organization dedicated solely to the success of all students and teachers…Broward Education Foundation.
