2.Themefiles

Whyisthistemplatesystemfilesimportanttomention?BecauseWordPresscan’tlivewithoutthistemplatesystemfilestoshowupasawebsiteinthefront-end.

Inotherwords,withoutathemepackageinyourWordPresswouldnotworkatall.

Themeisasetof.phpfilescomesinafolderjustlikeWordPress.

Asmentioned,thereare2freethemescomeindefaultwithWordPressinstallerpackage:“Twentyeleven”and“Twentytwelve”.Thesethemefolderscanbefoundin/wp-content/themes/.

Ifyougothedefaultthemefolder(wp-content/themes/default),youshouldseemanyPHPfiles(calledtemplatefile)andastylesheet(style.css)–bothmadeupatheme.

Theother2folders(wp-adminandwp-includes)arepartsofthecoresystemwhichwillbereplacedwhenupgrade,justlikewhenyouupgradeyoursoftware–and/wp-contentislikethe/documentfolderwhereyoukeepsyourownstufflikedocumentsfordownload(likecompanypdf,yourfreesoftware),imagefilesandsoon.

WARNING:Apartfrom/wp-content,DON’TDELETEanyfilesorfoldersundertherootdomainorWordPresswillnotwork.

Youmayask,whycan’tIkeepthedocumentelsewhere?

First,forallmediafilesyouaddtoyourcontent,thedefaultlocationwouldbein/wp-content/upload(itwillcreatethisfolderforyouautomaticallyafteryouhaveaddedamediafile).

Imagineyouhaveranyoursiteforayear,this‘upload’folderwouldfilledwithlotsofmediafiles,imagesandsoon.So,ifyouaccidentallydeletedthisfolder–godhelpsyou.

Secondly–Yes,youcankeepthefileselsewheretoobutaslongasyouremembertobackupandthefolderyoucreatedtokeepyourownstuffresidesinyourdomainnamerootfolder,andyoucancallthefolderwhateveryouwanttoo.
