foodMATTERS Quarter 1 2021

Here we are at the end of Quarter 1, 2021. The overall sentiment was that 2020 is

done and gone, and a magic spell of the calendar year marked a fresh new start to

the “new” normal. It didn’t.

It did offer a deeper hold into what matters most. Health. Community. And,

ending hunger.

With your outpouring of generosity, we doubled the number of children and

families fed since the start of the year and expanded our monthly food packs to

include even more nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables.

We nurtured and grew our community through our March month-long women

empowerment series “Do What Feeds You,” where trail-blazing women shared

their wellness journeys.  And, we successfully piloted Thrive Cooks spotlighting Dr.

Clarita Ketels (our monthly feature), who shared dishes and tales from her

childhood in the Philippines.

In March, devastating fires swept through the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s

Bazar, Bangladesh, so we quickly partnered with the Amal Foundation to provide

15 days of hot meals to 1,000 families who had lost everything again  = 15,000 hot

meals! The turn-around was quick, but this community doesn’t mess around;

within 72 hours, the funds happened and food relief was delivered.

As the next quarter of 2021 approaches, we will likely need to continue to hold both

hard & hope -- and as a collective, we stay tethered to what matters most to us --

lifting up others so everyone’s future brightens.

With hope and heart,

Thrive CEO, Co-founder
