PREFACE

First of all the writer would like to thank to Allah SWT for the outstanding

mercy given so that the writer could accomplish and finish the final report on

time. This final report is written to fulfill the requirement of final report subject at

State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya which entitled “Designing Smart Magazine for the

Student Association English Departement at State Polytechnic of Sriwijaya”.

The writer realizes that there are some unintended mistakes and errors in

writing this final report. This is caused by the limitation in experience, ability and

knowledge in writing a final report. Therefore, the writer humbly expects that the

readers could provide suggestion and constructive critics for the improvement of

this final report.

Finally, the writer expects that this final report could give advantages and

usefulness, especially for the students of English Department, both in enriching

their knowledge and ass the reference of writing their final reports.

The purpose of this final report is to know how to design the Smart

magazine for the student association at English Department of State Polytechnic

of Sriwijaya and motivate the English Department students to show up their

English writing skill. In this final report,the writer usesthe modification of

Research and Development Method from Sukmadinata (2005). Using three main

steps in Research and Development Method: preliminary study, model

development and final product testing. And after that the writer tell about how to

design Smart magagzine. And then tell about the rubrics from the Smart

magazine. the story tell about the struggle of palembang community in defend

palembang city attacked from dutch at that time.There are front and back cover,

editor's voice, table of contents, close up, campus flash, did you know? , sport

spot, alumni chat, students Polsri, fiddle fit, English corner, advertisement, tea

time and student creations.
