CUS Record Split of DCC: Geographical Description and Mapping of Dhaka North and South City Corporations Md. It is the capital of Bangladesh, where (DCC) is the self-governing corporation and organization having responsibility of managing many functions of Dhaka City. The City corporation area is divided into several wards. Each ward has an elected ward commissioner. From 1990 it functioned as Dhaka City Corporation, but in 2011 the Corporation was divided into two different city corporations named Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporation. The administrative demarcation and renumbering of wards into new wards under two city corporations has given rise to a complexity about ward numbers. Dhaka municipality was established in 1863, it was renamed as Dhaka City Corporation in 1990 . Dhaka City Corporation has grown to a large metropolis with a population now nearing over one crore or more (approximately 12 million). Till November 2011 the DCC had 10 zones and 90 wards as small administrative units. The most discussed issue of row is the split of Dhaka City Corporation by the Local Government as Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Dissolution, changes of city zoning and wards number: Government, on 29th November 2011 dissolved the Dhaka City Corporation by the Local Government (City Corporation) Amendment Bill 2011 passed by the Parliament of Bangladesh after being placed in the Parliament on November 23. According to the bill "the city corporation will be split into two corporations, North and South, with the southern wing holding more territory than the north. Each corporation will be a self-governing entity, thus will have the two mayors". Though still now the administrative head are in control of the two city corporations as the election is yet to be held. Authorities have changed the zoning and the number of wards of the Dhaka South and the Dhaka North City Corporation. Dhaka South City Corporation: A General Description

Dhaka South City Corporation, thesouth part of former Dhaka CityCorporation, consists of 56 wardscovering the thanas of Dhaka Kotwali,Motijheel, Sutrapur, Ramna, Bangsal,Wari, Gendaria, Chwokbazar, Lalbagh,Hazaribagh, Dhanmondi, Shahbagh, NewMarket, Khilgaon, Kamrangirchar andothers.

Dhaka North City Corporation

Dhaka North City Corporation, thenorthern part of Dhaka CityCorporation, consists of 36 wardscovering the thanas of Mirpur,Mohammadpur, Sher-E-Bangla Nagar,

Pallabi, Adabor, Kafrul, DhakaCantonment, Gulshan, Banani, Badda,Uttara & some others. The detail areaand location are shown zone wise intable 1.4.

Conclusion: The split of Dhaka CityCorporation arise few problems withnew zone number and ward number. Therenumbered wards and zones are shownin this article as anyone easilyidentify and compare the new and oldzone and ward from tables or maps. Nowthese two city corporations havedifferent administrative boundarieswith overall 10 zones and 92 wards,where Dhaka South City Corporation has56 wards and Dhaka North CityCorporation has 36 wards.
