Conferences/ workshops organized (15)

1. “Cardiac Nursing Update 2010” was organized on 18-19th January 2010 by faculty, College of Nurising in LT-2 old DMC. For B.Sc. Nursing Interns and GNM interns.

2. “World Cancer day” was celebrated on the theme of “Cancer can be prevented too” by College of Nursing on 1st February 2010 in LT-2 with coordination of department of Oncology, Obs. and Gynaecology, DMCH. About 200 nursing

students attended the same. 3. A workshop on “Care of unconscious patients” was

organized by Faculty of College of Nursing on 9th and 10th February 2010. About 180 nursing students attended the workshop.

4. A workshop was organized on “Job responsibilities of nursing personnel in hospital and nursing institution”.

5. “A Symposium; awareness walk and free screening camp was organized on the occasion of World Health Day 2010” on 7th April 2010.

6. International Nurses week was organized from 10th May 2010 to 15th May 2010 by Faculty, College of Nursing for the staff nurses and nursing students.

i) Workshop on “Basic nursing care procedure” was organized by B.Sc. Nursing 1st year faculty on 10th May 2010 was coordinated by Mrs. Anju Lata, Lecturer, College of Nursing, DMCH.

ii) Workshop on “Gastro Nursing update” was coordinated by Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Associate Professor, College of Nursing, DMCH on 11th May 2010.

iii) Workshop on “Neuro nursing update” was coordinated by Mrs. Bindu K, Lecturer, College of Nursing, DMCH on 12th May 2010.

iv) Workshop on “Obstetric nursing update” was coordinated by Mrs. Nidhi Sagar, Associate Professor, College of Nursing, DMCH.

v) Workshop on “Paediatric nursing update” was coordinated by Mrs. Anita Yadav, Lecturer, College of Nursing, DMCH on 14th May 2010.

vi) Workshop on “Critical Care Nursing update” was coordinated by Dr. Suresh K. Sharma, Vice Principal, CON , DMCH on 15th May 2010.

7. Seminar on “Environment day” was organized on

30/07/2010 at College of Nursing, Old DMCH. 8. Seminar on “World Population Day” was organized on

06/08/2010 at College of Nursing, Old DMCH. 9. “ORS week” , role play competition was organized and

prized were won by B.Sc Nursing students. It was organized in Paediatric OPD as an IAP event of North Zone on 30th July’2010.

10. “International day for older persons” was celebrated in College of Nursing on 30th Sept to 1st Oct’2010 by organizing (2 days) workshop in College of Nursing.

11. One day workshop was organized for M.Sc(N) class on “Biomedical Waste Management” on 13th Oct’2010

12. One day workshop was organized for M.Sc(N) class on “Infection Control” on 14th Oct’2010.

13. “World Day for Organ Donation- Gift of Life” GLODAS was organized on 20th November 2010 at KVM School, Civil Lines, Ludhiana. Poster Competition, Choreography, Poetry recitation and Quiz contest were organized and coordinated by College of Nursing, DMCH for awareness among students of various school and colleges.

14. On the occasion of “National Communal Harmony week” and National Flag Day, a vibrant cultural event was celebrated by Medical College & Nursing College in Old DMCH Campus on 23.11.2010.

15. On the occasion of “World Diabetes Day” celebrated on 13th November’2010 in Medical OPD, DMCH. Exhibition, Poster competition and free screening for blood sugar was conducted. The event was coordinated by College of Nursing and Endocrinology deptt.

Honors achieved (2) 1. Dr. Jabir Kaur was awarded with gold pin in TNAI in XXIII T.N.A.I Biennial (72) conference held in Kochi, Kerala, November, 2010.

2. Dr. Suresh K Sharma is nominated as External Advisor for the B. Sc. N (Hon) Program of the Liverpool JM University,

1. LCD projector is installed for M.Sc. Nursing students.

Visits for academic purposes 1. B.Sc. (N) 2nd year and Post Basic B.Sc. (N) 1st year students visited Water Purification and sewerage treatment plant at Chandigarh on 5th & 6th April 2010.

1. Dr. Suresh K Sharma, successfully complete his Ph.D. degree from department of Administration, Punjab University, Chandigarh.

2. Nursing Students participated in Sahir Ludhianavi memorial programme organized at Dumra Auditorium on 8th March 2010 at 8.00 pm.

3. Mr. Ram Naryan, Sr. Assistant (P) got retirement on 31/07/2010. Award of honour was presented to him along with senior citizenship card.

4. 2nd prize for the Poster competition was bagged by Mrs. Sandeep Kaur, Lecturer, CON, DMCH, Ldh in XXIII T.N.A.I Biennial (72) Punjab State Conference-2010 held at MHRDAV institute of Nursing, Jalandhar on 9th Oct’2010.

5. On the occasion of National Communal Harmony week and National Flag Day, Nursing students got prizes in poster contest, choreography, Collage and slogan writing, on November 23rd, 2010.

6. First five positions of B.Sc (N) 2nd , 3rd & 4th year received merit scholarship of Rs. 10000/- each from Dumra Noble Trust, Ludhiana.

7. One student of M.Sc(N) 1st year received Meritorious scholarship of Rs.25000/- from Dumra Noble Trust, Ludhiana.

8. One student of GNM Intern received Meritorious scholarship of Rs.5000/- from Dumra Noble Trust, Ludhiana.

2. Dr. Suresh K Sharma, Professor, College of Nursing, presented a scientific paper on “Stress and coping among families having thelesemic child” in 12th National Conference of Human Genetics at KEM, Mumbai from 28th to 30th July 2010.

3. Mr. Anurag Bhai Patidar, Lecturer CON presented a scientific research paper on “Excessive day time sleepiness and associated quality of life among stable congestive heart failure patients in India” and won III prize in paper presentation competition at national conference of cardiovascular nursing organized at Chennai, Tamilnadu from 11/11/10 to 12/11/10.

4. Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Assoc. Professor, College of Nursing, presented a scientific research paper on “Time utilization of staff nurses working in critical care unit” at national conference on New innovation in nursing management” held at Mangalore from 22/11/10 to 23/11/10.

5. Mrs. Nidhi Sagar, Assoc. Professor, College of Nursing, presented a scientific research paper on “An observational survey on disinfection & disposal of needles & syringes at source” at national conference on New innovation in nursing management held at Mangalore from 22/11/10 to 23/11/10.

6. Mrs. Anita Yadav, Lecturer, College of Nursing, attended and presented a research paper on “A quasi

experimental study on knowledge of nursing students regarding management of low birth weight babies” at National Health and Family Welfare Munirka, New Delhi on 21/11/2010.

7. Dr. Suresh K Sharma delivered a Guest Lecturer on Development of a conceptual framework for the research study in North Zone Workshop on “Research Methodology: Improving the Quality of P.G. Thesis on 15th December 2010 at BFUHS, Faridkot.

Special Achievement 1. 100% result of B.Sc(N) 2nd year students were declared with 55 distinctions and 100% first division where students got 29 distinctions in MSN-I , 14 in PPG , 6 in CHN-I , 5 in Soc, and 1 distinctions in CET. Bishavjot Kaur stood 1st with 79.06%., was declared on 07/01/2010.

2. 100% result of B.Sc(N) 3rd year students was declared with 33 distinctions and 100% first division where students got 16 distinctions in MHN, 16 in MSN-II and 1 in CHN.

3. 100% result of B.Sc(N) 4th year students was declared with 22 distinctions and 100% first division where students got 3 distinctions in Midw & Obs Nsg , 12 distinctions in CHN, 6 in nsg Research and one in management & education.

4. 100% result of Post Basic B.Sc(N) 1st year students. Declared on 23/11/2010 with distinctions.

5. 100% result of Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year students, was declared on 04/02/2010 and 23/11/2010 with distinctions.

6. Received NOC from Punjab Govt. to start M.Sc. Nursing programme with intake of 25 seats for session 2010-11.

5. Workshop on Neonatal Resuscitation was attended by Mrs. Anita Yadav & Ms. Rupinder Kaur B.M Birla Institute, Jaipur on 6thOct’2010.

6. XXIII T.N.A.I Biennial (72) Punjab State Conference-2010 held at MHRDAV institute of Nursing, Jalandhar with the theme “Planning and implementing changes in Nursing” on 9th Oct was attended by Faculty College of Nursing, DMCH .

7. Mr. Anurag Bhai Patidar, Lecturer CON, attended two days National Cardiovascular Nursing conference from 11/11/10 to 12/11/10 at Chennai, Tamilnadu. The theme of the conference was “Changing trends in cardiovascular Nursing”.

8. Mrs. Nidhi Sagar & Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Associate Professor, College of Nursing, attended two days National conference on New innovations in Nursing Management from 22/11/10 to 23/11/10 at Mangalore, Karnataka.

9. Mrs. Anita Yadav, Lecturer, College of Nursing, attended two days National conference on “New born babies are safe in nurses hand” from 20/11/10 to 22/11/10 at AIIMS, Delhi.

10. Mrs. Anita Yadav, Lecturer, College of Nursing, DMCH attended 3 days Master training update of HIV/AIDS at RAK college of Nursing, New Delhi from 6th to 8th December’2010.

11. Mrs. Anita Yadav & Mrs. Rupinder Deol, Lecturer, College of Nursing, attended four days NNF conference from 07/1/10 to 10/10/10 at B. M. Birla Institute Jaipur.

Academic activities 2. Dr. (Mrs.) Jasbir Kaur, Principal, College of Nursing, DMCH attended 19th Academic council meeting on 28th January 2010 at BFUHS, Faridkot.

3. A debate on the theme of “Women Empowerment” on the occasion Women’s Day was organized on 11/03/2010 in College of Nursing, DMCH.

4. Nursing students participated in National Pulse Polio Programme on April, May, June, July and November 2010.

5. Inspection conducted from BFUHS, Faridkot to start M.Sc. Nursing programme with intake of 25 seats for session 2010-11

6. A health camp was organized by students of nursing (B.Sc. 4th year) CON, DMCH at Adarsh Nagar, Ludhiana in the month of July. The activities of the camp included, registration, blood pressure monitoring, BMI calculation, visual acuity measurement, hemoglobin estimating, RBS monitoring & health education.

7. College of Nursing, DMCH was appointed as the center of Examination for 3 colleges including Nightingale College of Nursing, Narangwal, GTB college of Nursing, Ldh and Sigma College of Nursing, Ldh.

8. Post Basic B.Sc(N) 1st year counseling (first ) organized on 16th Aug’2010.

9. Exhibition cum Quiz contest on “ Drugs used in Obstetrics “ was being organized by Mrs. Nidhi Sagar , Associate Professor , College of Nursing , on 9th December 2010. Models and posters were being judged and winners were awarded with prizes.

10. Mrs. Prabhjot Saini, Associate Professor, CON, DMCH presented a research paper in the Faculty Review Club, College of Nursing, DMCH on ‘Time Utilization of Nurses in

Critical Care Unit’. Dr. B.S Shah, MS, DMCH and DGM (Admn. & HR) grace the session.

11. ‘Christmas day’ was celebrated in College of Nursing on 17th December’ 2010 by B.Sc(N), M.Sc(N), Post Basic B.Sc(N) students.

Other conferences attended (5) 1. Mr Anurag Bhai Patidar attended three days course on BLS and ACLS at AHA accredited training site DMCH Ludhiana on 22-25 January 2010.

3. Five B.Sc. (N) interns and two nursing teachers attended a seminar on “Burns update” in Department of Plastic Surgery of Burns” on 26th April 2010.

4. Mrs. Prabhjot Saini and Ms. Monica with B.Sc(N) 2nd Year students attended a Seminar on Steam sterilization conducted by Dr. Kaizer from Germany held at DMCH, Ludhiana
