St. John’s Outdoor Stations of the Cross A few summers ago, our parishioner Rory McElduff, installed beautiful Stations of the Cross behind St. John’s Church for his Eagle Scout project. The quiet tree-covered path provides a beautiful place for prayer and reflection throughout the year. At the time Rory was raising money, we decided it would be fitting to install the Stations in memory of Fr. Donald Licata, who was so well loved here in Beacon for many decades. Events of the past year and more made it impossible to bless the Stations until now. We will bless the Stations Today, JUNE 20th immediately after the 7:30 am Mass. All are welcome!

Our Paths Are Guided by the Beacon of God’s Love

Reflection from…….Sr Moira Quinn,OSsR Today’s Gospel is very familiar to us all. Jesus is taking a well-deserved rest after a long day of healing and telling parables to the multitude about the Kingdom of the Father. I imagine the newly minted apostles were not quite sure what to make their sleeping Teacher. They must have been terrified when the storm whipped up. Even the seasoned fishermen, like Peter and John, understood they were in extreme trouble.

MKQ ’11

But when the storm abruptly ceased at Jesus’ word, perhaps, a new terror overtook them. They say, “Who is this man?” But imagine their absolute terror when their beloved Teacher is crucified. Only after Christ’s resurrection and his ascension into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father do they fully understand and go out to proclaim the Good News of Salvation. They become like Jesus, who on earth, was an image of the Father. Jesus had complete faith and trust in his Father while in the boat, and in the Garden of Gethsemane, where he cried out, “Abba, Father, everything is possible with you…your will be done.” How many of us grew up thinking our father could do everything! They loved us unconditionally and provided for the family. All our faith and trust was in them. Now that we are grown, we may be aware that they are/were human beings, like everyone else. But we never forget their love. They are an image of our heavenly Father who loves us beyond all telling. Let us turn to our Dads, and Abba, when the storms of life descend upon us and know a great calm is coming. Happy Father/Abba’s Day!

XII Domingo Ordinario

¿Aún no tienen fe?”
