RELEASED July 1, 2022 United States Navy Band Concert/Ceremonial Band Trumpet Audition September 26-27, 2022 The United States Navy Band announces an immediate vacancy for trumpet. The audition will take place at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. from Monday, September 26 to Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Applications must be submitted by Monday, September 12. There will be no pre-screening round for this audition. Once confirmed, all eligible applicants will be placed on the audition list and will receive a designated report date and time one week prior to the audition. Located in Washington, D.C., the Navy’s premier concert/ceremonial band is staffed by 85 world-class musicians who rotate between concert and ceremonial duties. For nearly 100 years, the Concert Band has performed marches, patriotic selections, orchestral transcriptions, and modern wind ensemble repertoire on national tours, public concerts, and educational conferences. The Ceremonial Band performs music at official military and government functions as well as other special events, including ceremonies at the White House, Pentagon, and Arlington National Cemetery. Starting salary for a new member of the U.S. Navy Band is $66,900-$74,208 plus 30 days paid leave annually and full benefits for members and their dependents. Those selected for positions in the U.S. Navy Band are advanced to the paygrade of E-6 (Musician First Class) following recruit training, under a contract for permanent assignment to the U.S. Navy Band, Washington, D.C. All applicants must be aged 18 to 39 and otherwise qualified for service in the U.S. Navy. Please note that the Navy has strict requirements with regard to medical readiness and physical appearance. The Navy permits visible tattoos; however, scalp, face, and ear tattoos are prohibited, as are any tattoos that are offensive, racist, extremist, or sexist. All applicants are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination is required in order to enter the audition site.
