DARRYL H. DANIELS Chair / AMAC Board of Directors

As Chair of the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) Board, it is my distinct honor to welcome you to our 31st annual Airport Business Diversity Conference. I am delighted to have you here to participate and share your knowledge and expertise. We are pleased to have so many outstanding sponsors, speakers, and attendees who together are a powerful force in making a difference in the airport industry.

So many of you traveled long distances, which serves to remind us all just how important our work is, and how committed you are to AMAC’s mission. Together, we share a vision that, through education, outreach and advocacy, we can make our nation’s airports stronger and, more importantly, help our DBEs and ACDBEs become more successful. We hope you will leave with a renewed commitment to the ideals and purpose of AMAC.

I know you will benefit from the workshops, general sessions, roundtables, and training opportunities available at this conference. Prepare yourself to be challenged, excited and inspired. This is a great opportunity to network with airport representatives, corporations, government entities and M/W/DBE firms from throughout the nation. In keeping with this year’s theme, “Business Beyond the Beach: Elevating Global Opportunity”, you will notice an international presence as well. We will continue to expand upon this throughout the years to come.

Planning a conference of this size can be a daunting task, so I want to personally extend my appreciation to our National Conference Chair, Courtney Thornton and our Local Conference Chair, Jasmine Jones. Kudos to you both for a job well done. You have worked tirelessly, and I know that we will all witness the outstanding results of your efforts. Thank you to all the committees for your hard work, dedication and creativity. Finally, thank you to our President and CEO, Shelby Scales, for her outstanding leadership, perseverance and professionalism. You represent AMAC well, and we are grateful for all you do.

I am looking forward to having an opportunity to meet each of you and listen to your ideas. If you are a member of AMAC, I thank you for your support.

Thank you for attending, and enjoy the conference!

Sincerely,Darryl Daniels, Chair / AMAC Board of Directors

SHELBY M. SCALES President and CEO / AMAC and AMAC Foundation

Dear Conference Attendees,

On behalf of the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) and the AMAC Foundation, I am excited to welcome you to Fort Lauderdale, and our 31st Annual Airport Business Diversity Conference.

You, as airport professionals have the vision, the knowledge, the wherewithal and the experience to help us pave our way into the future. You are truly our greatest asset today and tomorrow. We could not accomplish what we do without your support and leadership.

Throughout this conference, I ask you to stay engaged, keep us on task and help us shape and protect the future of the airport industry for minority-owned, women-owned, and disadvantaged business enterprises in airport contracting and employment. It is an honor to serve as AMAC’s President and CEO, and I do not take this assignment lightly. Let me assure you that I work night and day to address the issues and adovocate for you, our partners and members.

I extend my personal thanks to all of you for what you have done and will continue to do to help increase diversity and eliminate barriers through advocacy, business and professional development, and education. RICKY D. SMITHDirector of Airports

Dear AMAC Attendees,

On behalf of the City of Cleveland, Mayor Frank Jackson, the staff at both Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) and Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport, it brings me great pleasure to welcome you to the AMAC Annual Business Diversity Conference, “Business Beyond the Beach: Elevating Global Opportunity”. This year’s conference will present opportunities for airports, the federal government, corporations and entrepreneurs to connect and foster prospective business relationships. Attendees will engage and gain knowledge through the schedule of educational workshops that relate directly to their business and the aviation industry.

Please join us on Monday evening for the 2016 “ROCK ON CLEVELAND” Preview Reception. The event will highlight Cleveland, Ohio as the Home of Rock and Roll as well as celebrate music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s from R&B to disco, Pop Rock, Hip Hop to Neo Soul. It’s a concert and costume party and we want YOU to dress up as your favorite artist from those 40 years of music!

In 2016 we look forward to AMAC “ROCKING ON” in Cleveland! Small businesses will learn how to better their business and airport industry professionals will learn best practices from each other and the professional education series that we will offer. Although Cleveland is most famous for rock and roll, there are many aviation innovations that originated in Cleveland. Cleveland Municipal Airport, later to become Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, was the first municipally-owned airport in the United States, opening 90 years ago on July 1, 1925. CLE had the first air traffic control tower, the first radio-controlled air traffic control system, and the first runway lights in 1930. In 1968, CLE started the first direct rail service to a downtown, known today as the RTA Red Line Rapid or in the CLE terminal as Train to Downtown.

There is so much to see and do in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio. This is a great foodie city with many world class chefs including the likes of Michael Symon, Jonathon Sawyer, and Zack Bruell. Make sure you visit our vibrant entertainment districts downtown, including East Fourth Street and the Warehouse District. You can also tour Cleveland on Lolly-the-Trolly or on one of the area’s two tour boats: the Good Times II or the Nautica Queen. Cleveland has the largest performing arts district in the country, outside of New York, known as Playhouse Square; even if you don’t see a show it’s worth a visit to see the world’s largest outdoor chandelier.

We look forward to hosting you in 2016. Our goals are for you to enjoy your conference, enjoy our city, and give you reason to come back and visit us again.

Sincerely,Ricky D. SmithDirector of Airports

BUSINESS MATCHMAKINGLocation: Caribbean Ballroom

AMAC believes strongly that the inclusion of more minority-owned and women-owned businesses in airports makes good business sense and reflects the communities and markets these airports serve. As the industry grows, airports continue to increase and expand, furthering the economic growth of communities. With this growth comes enormous opportunity - amounting to billions of dollars annually in construction, procurement, professional services and concession contracts at our nation’s airports.

AMAC’s Business Matchmaking event will afford corporate and airport executives, government agencies, primes and small businesses the opportunity to meet, connect and establish collaborative relationships. Representatives from confirmed entities will meet with businesses to discuss products, services and opportunities. The event is designed to match buyers and sellers with the goal of creating mutually beneficial opportunities for both parties within the aviation industry and beyond

FAA MONITORING AND ENFORCEMENT Location: Key West/Palm Beach

Airports are required to implement monitoring and enforcement mechanisms to ensure that work committed to DBEs at contract award is actually performed by the DBEs. This mechanism must include a provision for a running tally of actual payments to DBE firms, a means of comparing these attainments to commitments, ensuring prompt payment and commercially useful function, and enforcement provisions. FAA will facilitate an interactive discussion with workshop participants on the regulatory requirements and common practices used at airports and this session also includes ACDBE program requirements.

AMAC FOUNDATION

ABOUT THE AMAC FOUNDATION

The Airport Minority Advisory Council Foundation (AMAC Foundation) was established in 1997 as the sister organization of the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC).

The Foundation develops educational programs, scholarship and mentorship opportunities, and shares information to support aviation and airport industry professionals, from college students beginning their careers to advanced professionals.

Over the past eighteen years, the AMAC Foundation has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships for students around the country, supporting a broad range of careers in airports, airlines, the federal government, and private sector.

Communities, economies, and industries are strengthened when there is a diversity of perspectives in business operations. We envision an airport and aviation industry that is vibrant and inclusive of minority and women students, employees, and business owners.

The AMAC Foundation mission is to create a community that furthers the presence of minority and women professionals in the industry, from university education and throughout the lifecycle of their professional lives, by advocating for and engaging with professionals at all career levels.

The AMAC Foundation would not exist without the generous support of our donors and corporate partners.

AMAC FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPSThe AMAC Foundation offers several scholarships each year.

AMAC MEMBER SCHOLARSHIPAwards are offered to students connected either personally or professionally to Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) members.

Scholarship recipients can be enrolled in any approved higher education institution pursuing aviation or non-aviation related degrees. Four scholarship awards of $2,000 each will be available to eligible students.

AMAC AVIATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIPStudents who are enrolled in an aviation-related program and have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for one of four $2,000 scholarships.

MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPSThe PJ Benton, Deitra Benton, and Bernie Johnson Memorial Scholarships, established by the Charlotte DBE Trade Foundation, honor their dedication to the industry and lifelong support of the AMAC Foundation.

PROJECT LIFTLeaders Inspiring Future Talent Broward County Main Library100 South Andrews AvenueBienes Center, 6th FloorFort Lauderdale, FL 33301

Each year, AMAC works with its conference host airport to present a youth enrichment activity as part of its Project LIFT (Leaders Inspiring Future Talent) program, designed to increase the nationwide pool of future industry professionals, particularly minorities and women, and to contribute to the public’s understanding of the aviation and aerospace industry.

The AMAC Aviation Career Day: Project LIFT FLL will be presented by AMAC in conjunction with the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) during the conference in Fort Lauderdale. Interested high school (grades 10 through 12) and college students throughout the South Florida region apply for participation in this unique, free program to learn about working in such areas as airport business operations, air transportation, airport concessions and facilities management.

Project LIFT FLL will provide up to 50 students (25 college and 25 high school) exposure to corporate, government and entrepreneurial career paths, mentoring, networking and scholarship opportunities through workshops, interactive sessions and an exclusive FLL tour featuring the new South Runway, fire station and official Miami Dolphins team airplane. A keynote address will be presented by Jamail Larkins, founder and CEO of Ascension Aircraft. Larkins became the first and youngest student pilot to solo in a Cirrus SR20, a revolutionary certified single-engine aircraft with a built in parachute. An experienced aerobatic pilot and the first Ambassador for Aviation & Space Education for the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration, Larkins has flown with the Blue Angels, named to Forbes “30 Under 30” and was honored by Inc. Magazine as the #1 Entrepreneur under 30.

IT’S TEE TIME!Join us during AMAC’s 2015 Annual Airport Business Diversity Conference as we continue a legacy of service with the 2015 Bill Walker Memorial Golf Tournament. This annual event benefits the AMAC Foundation’s scholarship program.

This year’s Bill Walker Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at the Jacaranda Golf Club in Plantation, FL, one of South Florida’s premiere semi-private facilities and host to PGA, USGA, and FSGA championship events. The 36-hole course is rated 4 Star by Golf Digest.

The Tournament honors one of AMAC’s own tireless servants, Bill Walker. Mr. Walker’s affiliation with the Airport Business Diversity Conference began with the Los Angeles, California conference in 1988. At the time, he was a Vice President at Pacific State Airlines. Walker began planning the golf tournament shortly after and continued to organize until illness prevented him from doing so. Named after Walker to honor his dedication and commitment to AMAC, the event has since become a perennial favorite.

Need to find a foursome for the tournament? Join us for the Golf Pairings Reception in the Vice Presidential Suite on Friday, June 12th from6:30-8PM.

TRANSPORTATION SCHEDULE7AM Shuttle departs the hotel promptly at

GET READY TO ROCK & ROLL IN THE CITY THAT INVENTED THE NAME.

THE 2016 AIRPORT MINORITY ADVISORY COUNCIL (AMAC) ANNUAL BUSINESS DIVERSITY CONFERENCE When Cleveland DJ Alan Freed (AKA Moondog) coined the term “Rock and Roll” in 1951, little did he know he would define the attitude of an entire nation. From small clubs to huge venues–and all the way to the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of

Fame and Museum–the City of Cleveland is still proud to embrace its rockin’ roots. So grab your leather pants and load up your tour bus, ‘cause the 2016 AMAC Annual Business Diversity Conference is going to be one wild ride.
