We did our best to follow all instructions having it in a blended mode online and limited physical presence.

As you look back at all the time you’ve spent here at Gulf Medical University (GMU), I am sure you would agree that GMU has been your home away from home. From the time you first set foot here as a student, the University, your teachers and friends have been a part of the process of transforming you into an important professional ready to play a part in the growth and development of the healthcare world. Moments of transition, like this, stand suspended between past and future. Something must end in order for change to take place, and every ending carries the challenge of a new beginning. Moments like this involve, in part the excitement of new achievement, but also the concern of the unknown.

The Executive Master in Healthcare Management and Economics (EMHME) is developed to address the extreme shortage of senior managers/executives in the healthcare industry and fill the gap in healthcare management curricula in order to face the dramatic change and transformation process in the healthcare industry. EMHME is uniquely designed to prepare participants to assume their leadership role. Emphasis is placed on developing and enhancing leadership skills including decision making, innovation, critical thinking, team building, problem-solving conflict management, executive reporting and communication. Participants are introduced to the various functions of management. Clinical case approach and executive field projects in affiliated healthcare facilities are an integral part of the study. Guest Speakers from the healthcare industry as well as scholars from top schools worldwide participate in the delivery of the program to share their experience and views. Indeed, GMU has forged partnership agreements and close ties with many universities across the globe. Our goal is to weave in medical science, business knowledge and clinical practice into an integrated unique experience-based learning paradigm capable of producing future leaders in the healthcare sector.

There are many rewarding career opportunities not only in the UAE but also on a regional and global scale for graduates of the Executive Master in Healthcare Management and Economics as a result of the fast growing healthcare market in the UAE, GCC countries and worldwide coupled with the acute shortage of specialized healthcare professionals.

What started in 1998 with the establishment of the Thumbay Group at Ajman, UAE by its founder, a visionary and third generation entrepreneur from India, Mr. Thumbay Moideen, blossomed into a diversified group with operations in Education, Healthcare, Medical Research, Diagnostics, Retail Pharmacy, Health Communication, Retail Opticals, Wellness, Nutrition Stores, Hospitality, Real Estate, Publishing, Trading, Marketing & Distribution and Technology & Media.

Established in 1998, the Gulf Medical University (GMU) today attracts students from over 75 countries and employs faculty and staff from around 25 countries.

Necessitated by the demand to train GMU’s graduates, Thumbay Group set up its first teaching hospital in Ajman, which was inaugurated on 17 October 2002. Today, there are five teaching hospitals operational under Thumbay Group, located at Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah, Fujairah and Hyderabad-India.

Thumbay Group’s our resolve to provide high-quality healthcare at affordable costs led to the opening of a chain of family clinics, Thumbay Clinics throughout the UAE. The first clinic was opened in Dubai, on 9 September 2015. Clinics are now operational in Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah.

Thumbay Pharmacy was launched in 2002. Today, the network has around 50 outlets at various locations in the UAE and Hyderabad – India. The brand is driven by its motto, “the right medication at the right time.”

HEALTH Magazine was launched in 1999, as a health & lifestyle magazine for the family. Published bi-monthly, this BPA-audited bilingual magazine is widely read in the region.

The Health Communications Division (HCD) of Thumbay Group was launched in 1999 with the aim of advancing the quality of healthcare by optimizing the experience and process of healthcare communication. HCD focuses on two major activities: education and partnerships.

Thumbay Medical Tourism (TMT) was set up to support overseas patients of Thumbay hospitals and clinics right from the point of enquiry through admission and discharge. It provides the complete scope of services for patients visiting the hospitals from outside the UAE.

Launched by the construction and renovation division of Thumbay Group, Thumbay Builders is a high-end general construction company with an impressive client-list, and several prestigious projects to their credit.

Thumbay Media is a leading media solutions provider under Thumbay Group, providing a wide range of media solutions ranging from media production to online marketing to organizing events and campaigns.

Thumbay Technologies is a leading name in the IT sector delivering a host of services across several business verticals.

Thumbay Food Court, the multi-cuisine food court under Thumbay Group’s Hospitality Division, was opened at Thumbay Medicity, which also marked the launch of the ‘Live & Learn’ concept at Thumbay Medicity, making it a lively space of social, professional and academic interactions.

A state-of-the-art robotic pharmacy under the Thumbay Pharmacy network opened at Thumbay Medicity, within Thumbay University Hospital, with advanced robotics technology for preparing and dispensing medicines, eliminating the chances of human errors and ensuring patient safety.

The hospitality division of Thumbay Group launched The Terrace Restaurant, Blends & Brews Coffee Shoppe and Body & Soul Health Club. Today, with multiple outlets at various locations in the UAE, each of these brands are on the course of phenomenal growth. The coffee shop chain forayed into the Indian market in 2015.

To tap the retail market, Thumbay Group launched Zo & Mo Opticals, Nutri Plus Vita stores, The Flower Shoppe, with multiple outlets being added each year.

Thumbay Marketing and Distribution Company (TMDC) as a trading and distribution company primarily dealing in pharma, education, medical, biomedical and veterinary product lines.

A state-of-the-art medical research facility, the Centre for Advanced Biomedical Research and Innovation (CABRI), housed within GMU was inaugurated on 13 January 2014. It is the apex lab of Thumbay Labs, the network of diagnostic labs operated by Thumbay Group. Thumbay Labs are today one of the biggest networks of CAP-accredited private diagnostic labs in the region.
