PURPOSEThepurposeofthisbibliographyistoprovidescholars,studentsandpractitionerswithalistofreferencestotheliteratureonautobiography,memoir,reminiscence,andrelatedtopics.Itwasthoughttobeofuseinaneraofgrowingawarenessofthesignificanceoftelling,sharing,andstudyinglifestories.Theliteratureisgrowingrapidlysinceitreflectsactivitiesinseveralscholarlydisciplines,areasofresearch,andfieldsofpractice.Becauseofthevastscopeofthetopics,thisbibliographyshouldnotberegardedasallencompassingordefinitive.Inparticulartheincludedlistofindividuallywrittenautobiographiesislimited.Thousandsofindividualautobiographieshavebeenwrittenandpublished.Incontrast,althoughtheresearchliteratureisgrowing,itisrelativelysmallcomparedwiththenumberofpublishedautobiographiesandmemoirs.Noattempthasbeenmadetoprovideabstractsofindividualarticlesalthoughbriefdescriptionsofbooksareincluded.
