INTRODUCTIONThe battle of Badr was fought on 17th Ramadan, 2 A.H./ March 17,624 C.E. at Badr, 800 miles southwest of Medina in modern-day Arabia between the Quraysh and Muslim community.

It is one of the great events of Islamic history.

PLAN OF ACTIONPLAN OF MUSLIMS

The Prophet sent men to keep an eye on Makkans.

He adopted the policy of ‘deterrence’, to prevent the battle, but its execution added fuel to fire.

Muslims prepare themselves for self defence against Abu Sufyan’s caravan.

PLAN OF QURAYSH

After the murder of one of their guards, the stir the people against the Muslims.Quraysh assembled a powerful army under the leadership of Abu Jahl on Abu Sufyan’s request.

BEFORE THE BATTLEMuslims marched towards Badr and reached on 16th .

They were in pitiful condition with only 2 horses, 70 camels and 313 fighters with little or no military experience.

Quraysh on the other hand, included 1000 warriors with 700 camels and 100 horses.

Faith in Action:o Muslims’ God-fearing character gave them strength and confidence.

o Prophet spent the whole night in prayer seeking Allah’s help.

The sudden rainfall rejoiced the Prophet as a sign of favour from Allah

AT THE BATTLE GROUNDThe battle opened with the general custom if Arabs.

fights started with three champions (Hamza,Ali,Abu ubaidah) against three Kuffar (Utba,Shaiba,Waleed)

Umayr bin al-Humam became the first martyr.

The faith of sons of Afsa, an Ansari woman, knocked down Abu Jahl.

RESULTMuslims ended the battle with victory.

70 makkans were taken as prisoners.

IMPACTThe victory made Muslims position strong.

The battle casted terror into the hearts of Quraysh.

It was very inspiring for the muslims.

It was a turning point of Islamic history.

Many people accepted islam after the battle.
