The cause of Environmental protection was realised by way of planting 300
saplings of flowering and medicinal plants by NSS volunteers.
“Every Student A Sport Person” was the theme of Inter-collegiate Cross
Country Race for Men and Women organised by NSS unit and department of Physical
Education and Sports jointly on 14th August 2014 to ensure the cause of good health.

The community related activity was conducted through the special NSS
camp during 28th October to 3rd November 2014.
NSS Unit of the College undertook a week long project of collecting
plastic bottles ‘Nital Goem’ 25th November 2014 to 1st December 2014 to ensure
plastic free Goa.
For supporting the social cause NSS Unit of the College organised a
voluntary Blood Donation Camp 11th December 2014 at college hall. 35 donors
donated blood.
In continuation of programme of “Swatch Bharat, Nital Goem” cleanliness drives
were undertaken on 19th December 2014 and 26th January 2015.
Story Telling Competition for school students of Salcete Taluka was organised.
A ten days Sanskrit Sambhashan Shibir organised 21st to 31st July 2014.
Students’ council organized state level intercollegiate
Bhavageet, singing competition and elocution competition.

IQAC creates awareness about infrastructural facilities. It has suggested initiating and ensuring

The institution has constituted a Local Managing Committee that regularly meets twice in a
year. Principal communicates the input to the management.
A joint meeting of management, staff and principal was conducted on February 14th 2015.
College encourages and allows the Faculty members to study and make suggestions to
strengthen course curriculum designed by the Goa University. The appointed members on BOS,
on the committees and subcommittees are motivated to contribute towards framework and
revision of the syllabus.
The faculty members have enclosed the teaching plan for the academic year 2014-15.
Mentoring of the students and collection of student’s feedback is done.
Teaching and learning methods include class room seminars and group discussions,
brainstorming seminars, PPP and assignments.
Use of LCD as teaching aid is encouraged.

Savita S. Nadkarni , Asso.Prof.in Accountancy and Costing has been awarded Ph.D.
Mr. Suraj Popekar is research scholar working on his thesis.

The NSS UNIT of the college conducted Clean Drive Campaign and encouraged the students to
plant and protect trees. The Nital Goem campaign was supported and plastic bottles were

1. STUDENTS ELECTION COMMITTEE:
Conducts the election to constitute the students council of the college as
well as conducts election for the post of UCR and UFR in accordance with
Goa University as per the statute in the month of July.
2. STUDENTS COUNCIL / CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY
i. The council Conducts activities to sharpen the talents of students in
cultural activities;
ii. It conducts the Interclass and intercollegiate competitions;
iii. Council organizes workshop for students ;
iv. It conducts cultural activities and college week;

3. SPORTS COUNCIL

4. N.S.S. UNIT
i. The unit enrolls volunteers, nominates N.S.S. Secretary and leaders and

ii. The inauguration of unit, orientation of new volunteers as per the
direction of Goa University N.S.S. Unit and Sports, Youth and
Welfare department, Government of Goa in July/August.
iii. It volunteers the celebration of National Days, significant days and
college activities.
iv. It also undertakes extension activities in accordance with the Annual Plan
and theme of Goa University Unit.
v. It deputes the N.S.S. volunteers for state and national events.
5. PARENTS – TEACHERS ASSOCIATION
i. This Association functions as per the rules and regulations stated in the
constitution of P.T.A. of the college.
ii. It conducts two meetings in an academic year.
iii. It organizes felicitation of selected alumni achievers of the college.
iv. It has BOOK BANK facility and it is provided to the students by the
P.T.A.
6. WOMAN CELL
It conducts meetings of the members twice a year. It organizes gender
sensitive activities.
7. VISUNDHARA NATURE CLUB COMMITTEE
i. It enrolls the members, nominates secretary and the group leaders in
July.

ACTIVITIES ORGANISED BY THE INSTITUTION DURING THE
FIRST TERM OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2014-15
I. Institutional Activities 1. The Academic Year 2014-15 was inaugurated on 1st July 2014. Principal Dr.
L.G.Naik addressed the students and oriented them about the facilities available at
the campus as well as the rules and regulations. All the faculty members informed
the students regarding their respective subjects.
2. Sanskrit Sambhashan Shibir for 10 days for College students was organised by the
Shri. Anand Dessai in association with Sanskrit Bharati from 21st to 31st July 2014 in
college hall and 40 students participated in the course.

3. The teaching and non-teaching faculty members and students along with the sister
concern institutions of the C.E.S. participated in the celebration of the 68th
Independence Day on 15th August on the College ground at 8.00 a.m. Renowned
freedom fighter and Chairman of C.E.S. Shri Maducora B.N. Dessai was the chief
guest for the function. Other members of the CES and civilians were also present for
the function. The students expressed their patriotism through patriotic songs,
speeches and poems.
4. Our college in association with Konkani Bhasha Mandal organised “Shenoy Goybab
Kathamala” on 1st September 2014. NSS volunteers provided their services.
5. The students of the CES College, CUHS, CUHSS and the Balwadi along with the
teaching and non-teaching staff, Chairman and management members of CES
celebrated the Founder’s Day of the CES Society and Gandhi Jayanti at CES with
all enthusiasm on 2nd October 2014.
II. Activities Of The Students Council 1. The elections to the Student’s Council of the College were conducted on 31st July
2014. Asst. Prof. Suraj M. Popker was nominated as chairperson of Student’s
Council for the academic year 2014-15.
2. The Student’s Council for the academic year 2014 –15 was inaugurated on Saturday
2nd August, 2014. Dr. Sr. Aradhana, Principal of Carmel College, Nuvem was the
Chief Guest for the function. Shri Moducora B.N. Dessai, Chairman of C.E.S.
College presided over the function.
3. The Student’s Council organized an inter-class painting competition on the theme
‘Mujhe Rang De’ on 13th August 2014. The female students were asked to paint the
dupatta and male students to paint the t-shirts using water colors.
4. The Students’ Council organized an inter-class bouquet making competition from
Wild flower on 20th August 2014 on the theme ‘Jungle Jungle Phool Khele’.
5. An All Goa Inter-Collegiate “Bhav-Geet” Competition was organised under the theme
“BHAV-AMRUTA DHARA” on Saturday 23rd August, 2014 in the College Hall.
Twenty colleges from Goa participated in this competition.
6. The Student’s Council celebrated Teacher’s day on 5th September 2014. The
programme began with a welcome song, followed by Principal’s address on the life
and philosophy of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. The students presented various
entertainment programmes and games for the teachers.
III. Activities Of NSS Unit Of The College 1. The activities of N.S.S. Unit for the academic year 2014-15, were initiated by
appointment of programme officers, other Committee members and the NSS
Secretary by Principal.
2. The plan of activities for the College NSS Unit was drawn based on the guidelines
from the annual meeting of NSS Programme officers, held on 22nd July 2014 at ESG
Centre, Panaji. Mrs Pooja Prabhudesai attended the meeting.
3. Mr. Anand Dessai attended a meeting of NSS programme officers on 25th July 2014 at
Goa University.
4. The total enrollment for the academic year 2014-15 was four hundred and nine (409)
students that included 149 male and 260 female student volunteers.
5. NSS Unit organized Tree Plantation Programme at Sat-Devla,Veroda on 2nd August
2014. NSS Volunteers numbering 250 planted 300 saplings of flowering and
medicinal plants along with faculty members during the event.

6. The NSS unit for the academic year 2014 -15 was inaugurated at the hands of Sr.
Dr. Aradhana A.C., Principal of Carmel College, Nuvem on 6th August 2014.
7. CES NSS Unit participated in celebration of “International Youth Day” on 12th
August 2014. The unit organised a week long programme from 12/08/2014 to
20/08/2014 and conducted the inter-class competitions for the students namely
Photography, Artwork, Poster making and slogan writing and 35 students
participated in these inter-class competitions.
8. N.S.S. Unit and Department of Physical Education of the College jointly organised
‘Inter- Collegiate Cross Country Race for Men and Women’ on 14th August, 2014
with the objective of creating “Every Student a Sports Person.” In the race 150
students from different colleges of Goa participated.
9. Clean campus drive at the college was organised by NSS unit on 19th August 2014.
Student volunteers, Principal and teachers participated in the said drive.
IV. Activities Of Sports Council
1. The college team of five students participated in the Inter-collegiate Table Tennis
Tournament 2014-15 for men on 30/7/2014 and reached to second round.
2. An Inter-collegiate Athletic Meet 2014-15 was organised by Goa University on
31/07/2014 and 15 men and 8 women athletes participated Prashila Deikar the silver
medal in 1500 meters run and won the bronze medal in 5000 meters run.
3. An Inter-collegiate Cross Country race was organised by Goa University on 14th
August 2014, eight students participated and finished 4th in team championship.
4. The college team of five students participated in the Inter-collegiate Tennikoitt
Tournament 2014-15 for women held at university ground from 26th to 27th August
2014 and won the Runner-up position.
5. Inter-collegiate Football Tournament for men was organised by Goa University on 5th
September 2014 in which 20 students participated and reached pre-quarter finals.
6. In the Inter-collegiate Kabaddi Tournament organised by Goa University on
23/08/2014, 12 men and 11 women participated and men team reached quarter
finals.
V. Activities Of Departments/ Committees / Cells
1. The department of Sociology organised Poster competition for the students of
F.Y./S.Y. and T.Y.B.A. on 25th August 2014 in Audio Visual Hall of the College on
the theme ‘Women’s Issues in India’.
2. The Hindi Department organized an Inter-Class Essay Competition on 18th
September 2014 in which 20 students participated.
3. The department History organised field trip to Kushavati Heritage Trail on 4th
September 2014 for F.YB.A. students.
4. Department of History organised a photography competition on mobile and report
writing on the photographs.

5. Department of Geography with two faculty members organised one day field visit to
NIO, Panaji and NCAOR, Vasco on 19th September 2014 that benefited 24 students.
6. The Department of Hindi motivated the students to display their writing skills through
poems, short stories and articles in the form of ‘Wall Paper’ on 22nd September 2014.
VI. Students Compete / Participate In Curricular, Co-Curricular And
Extra-Curricular Activities Organised By Other Institutions
1. Chrissy Fernandes and Reema Fernandes secured third prize in inter-collegiate quiz
competition organized by the department of Tourism ,on the occasion of
‘International Tourism Day’on the topic “History and Heritage of Goa”on 27th July
2014.
2. The Institute of Menezes Braganca , Panjim, organised an Inter-collegiate Quiz
Competition on the occasion of death anniversary of Bal Gangadhar Tilak on 1st
August 2014 and Chrissy Fernandes and Reema Fernandes participated in the
competition.
3. NSS unit deputed 63 volunteers for one day training on Disaster management on
17/08/2014 from 9.30 am onwards at Cuncolim Muncipal Hall, Cuncolim, Goa,
where they were given practical training to deal with the natural disasters
4. In a ‘Poetry Recital’ competition organised by Kavita Trust, Mangalore, Karnataka,
on 3rd and 4th September, 2014, at Konkani Bhavan, Margao, 10 students from the
department of Konkani participated.
5. Ms Dias Shafira Yolanda and Mr. Gaonkar Subhash Pavto attended 10 days NSS
Mega Camp in Rajasthan from 5th to 16th September 2014.
6. Coutinho Chopdekar Neash Steve and Dessai Dilaksha Dilkush attended the selection
trials of outstanding NSS Volunteers to represent Goa State for the NSS Pre-
Republic Day camp 2014 on 12th September 2014 at Youth Hostel, Miramar.
7. The students of Hindi Department participated in ‘Hindi Srujanotsav and Hindi Day ‘
organized by Institute of Menezes Braganza, Panaji-Goa, held on 15th September
2014. A group of 21 students participated in various competitions like one act play,
elocution, bhajan, kavya-vachan, essay, Aashu kavita , wall-paper and story writing
competitions. Ms. Mandira Fal Dessai won 3rd prize for Bhajan and Ms. Heena
Pathan won 3rd prize for Aashu Kavita competition.
8. Mr. Fernandes Lester Basilo participated in the State level essay writing competition
organised by GVM’s College on ‘Role of volunteers in Disaster management’ on
17th September 2014.
9. Sweta Shirodkar, Sidhi Faldessai, Mandira Faldessai and Sanjita Shirodkar won 2nd
prize in ‘All Goa Konkani Wall Paper Making Competition’ organised by
Mallikarjun College, Canacona, in association with Konkani Academy, Goa, on 20th
September 2015.
10. Senika Fernandes of F.Y.B.A. won third prize for power point presentation and other
two students participated in Inter-Collegiate Student Seminar ‘Budding Sociologists’
at Rosary College on 29th September 2014.

ACTIVITIES ORGANISED BY THE INSTITUTION DURING THE
SECOND TERM OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2014-15
I. Institutional Activities
1. The students, members of management and staff of College along with its sister
institutions celebrated 54th ‘Goa Liberation Day’ on 19th December 2014 on the
College Campus. Shri Moducora B.N.Dessai, Chairman, Cuncolim Educational
Society was the chief guest.
2. In the memory of Late Shri Pio F. Lawrence the College organized 24th All Goa Inter-
Collegiate ‘Kavi Sammelan’ on 22nd January 2015 in the College Audio Visual. The
meet was jointly organized by the Departments of Hindi, English, Marathi and
Konkani in four languages – Konkani, Marathi, Hindi and English. Young budding
student poets numbering 45 from different Colleges and Goa University participated
in the Sammelan.
3. The Chairman, members of management and staff of Cuncolim Educational Society
and its institutions celebrated Republic Day function in the college premises on 26th
January, 2015. The celebration was attended by the students of all institutions of
CES.
II. Activities Of The Students Council
1. The Council organized Inter- Collegiate and Inter-class competitions titled
“TALENT- a hunt within…” in the College Hall from 20th to 23th December 2014.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Oscar Gracias, Ex-Head Master of United High
school. On 20th December 2014 an ‘All Goa Inter-Collegiate Singing Competition’
was organized and other colleges from Goa participated in the event. ‘All Goa
Inter-Collegiate Elocution Competition’ was organized in the Collage Audio-Visual
Hall on 22ndDecember 2014 and five different colleges participated in it. Inter-class
competitions organised included Traditional Day, Star-making competition, Best out
of Waste, Mehendi competition, Face Painting, Hair Style and Fruit carving/
Vegetable Carving. The Bazar day was observed on 23rd December and all the
classes participated by putting stalls of games, eatables and creative material.
2. The Students Council organised the Annual Social Gathering and Prize Distribution
of the college on 15th January 2015 at CMC hall. The chief guest of the function was
Shri. Arun S. Nadkarni, Principal of Kare Law College, Margao.
III. Activities Of NSS Unit Of The CES College Of Arts And Commerce
1. The NSS Special Camp was held at Damodar Vidyalaya, Loliem, Canacona from 28th
October to 3rd November 2014 in which 150 volunteers and staff members
participated. The camp was inaugurated by Shri Ramesh Talwadkar, Minister of
Sports, Youth Affairs and Tribal Welfare, Government of Goa.

2. NSS Unit of the College undertook a week long project ‘Nital Goem’ as a part of
Swatch Bharat Abhiyan initiated by Bisleri International Pvt. Ltd in collaboration
with Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs from 25th November 2014 to 1st
December 2014. NSS volunteers collected clean Pet bottles and accumulated the
same on the campus that were collected by Bisleri International.
3. The Department of Sainik Welfare, Government of Goa, on the occasion of Armed
Force Flag Day on 07th December 2014 had made an appeal for liberal donation as a
gesture to reassure the surviving and retired defense personnel, their widows and
dependents. The car flags and stickers were distributed and the NSS Unit collected
Rupees 4835/- as donation.
4. NSS Unit of the College organised a voluntary Blood Donation Camp in association
with Blood Bank, Hospicio Hospital, Margao on 11th December 2014 at college hall.
Dr. Vasundhara Dessai, in charge of Blood Bank, Hospicio Hospital, Margao spoke
on the need of blood donation and answered the queries put forth by the students and
35 donors donated blood.
5. In continuation of programme of “Swatch Bharat, Nital Goem” cleanliness drives
were undertaken on 19th December 2014 and 26th January 2015. The entire College
premises as well as the surrounding areas were cleaned by the volunteers.
IV. Activities of Sports Council
1. The college men team won the championship in the Inter-collegiate Kho-Kho
Tournament organised by Goa University on 4th and 5th December 2014 in which
12 students participated.
2. College Annual Sports day 2014-15 was organised on 6th January 2015 at Cuncolim
Football Ground of SAG.
3. Gaonkar Soniya , Velip Sapana and Gaonkar Sarvesh represented Goa in 48th
National Kho-Kho Championship held at Bangalore from 7th to 11th January 2015
organised Karnataka State Kho-Kho Association and National Kho-Kho Federation
of India.
4. Krishna Bandiwaddar and Sarvesh Velip represented Goa State at the 32nd South Zone
National Championship in Sapak Takraw held at Kurnool(A.P.) on 9th and 10th
January 2015.
V. Activities of Departments/ Committees / Cells
1. The department of Geography organised study tour to Hyderabad and surrounding
areas from 18th November to 24th November 2014 in which 21 students and two
faculty members participated.
2. The Department of Konkani organised study tour to Trivandrum, Cochin,
Kanyakumari and surrounding places from 17 to 24th November 2014 in which 26
students were accompanied by the faculty.
3. The College Personality Development School in association with Goa Arts and
Animation Academy (GAAA) organized One Day Workshop for students on “Arts
and Animation” for students on 27th November 2014 at 3.00 p.m. in the College Hall
and 74 students participated in the Workshop.

4. The department of Sociology organised a Slogan Competition on ‘1st December
2014.
5. Department of Hindi, Economics and Political Science organized a field trip /study
tour to Kolhapur for 35 students of B.A. (F.Y., S.Y. and T.Y) from 22nd to 24th
December 2014. The students visited the various places like Kanneri Museum,
Mahalaxmi Temple, Pannal Gad, Shahu Maharaj Palace, Jyotibacha Dongar &
Shivaji University. The trip was conducted as a part of Syllabus. The students were
accompanied by seven faculty members.
6. The Department of Commerce and Accountancy organised a poster making
competition for Commerce students on 12th January 2015.
7. Department of English organised a guest lecture on 29th January 2015 on the theme
‘Right to Information’ for First and Second Year commerce students. The members

2015 in which 15 students along with teachers participated.
3. A one day Workshop on the topic ‘Budding Writers and their Literature’ was
organised by Fr. Agnel College, Pillar, in association with Sahitya Academy, New
Delhi, on 10th January, 2015, in which 10 students from the department of Konkani
participated.
4. The Rotary Club of Mapusa organised 20th Goa Yuva Mahotsava on 12th and 13th
January 2015 in which 35 students of Konkani department participated and was
judged as the ‘Best Group’ of the 20th GYM. Ms. Mandira Faldessai won the 2nd
prize in singing competition.
5. Mr. Chandrashekar Bhawariya, Ms. Jenika Dias and Ms. Drisha Fernandes presented
paper titled ‘Development of Fishing Industry in Goa- A Geographical Study’, at a
State level student Seminar organised by Rosary College of Commerce and Arts,
Navelim, Goa on 21st January 2015.
6. Ms. Mandira Faldessai secured 2nd prize in All Goa Konkani Katar Singing

The committee conducts the election in the month of July to the Students’ Council of the

This committee organizes extracurricular and cultural activities at the college and
intercollegiate level. It initiates and encourages student’s participation and also

college and state level. It organizes Annual Sports Day at the College. It initiates/

4. N.S.S. UNIT volunteers in the celebration of National Days, conducts the N.S.S.
activities as well as college extension activities as per the direction of Goa
University N.S.S.Unit and Sports, Youth and Welfare department, Government of
Goa. These activities are based on the annual plan and theme of Goa University
Unit. It also collects donations as per the need of the hour and undertakes the
extension activities related to environmental protection and awareness.
5. PARENTS – TEACHERS ASSOCIATION contributes for the welfare of the
students by conducting various programmes in the form of Felicitation of ex-
students for their achievements; help the students by supporting BOOK Bank
Scheme.
In addition to the above mentioned activities the Departments / Committees / Cells of the
College undertake several activities as directed / required by the University/Government and
non-government institutions related to emerging issues.
