Item No. 18/ Membrane Filter Apparatus

1.Membrane filtration unit also known as the “Membrane filtration assembly”.

2. It should consists of a funnel, locking ring, carbon disc, stainless base, rubber stopper,

filter flask, and Vacuum pump.

3. The funnel should be located at the top, which is used to pass the water sample.

4. A locking ring or clamp should be located at the end of this stainless funnel. It

controls the flow of the essay liquid sample.

5. Over the carbon disk, a membrane filter should be located. This carbon disc and the

membrane filter is held by the stainless base.

6. A rubber stopper should be located at the base that controls the water flow to the filter

flask.

7. A Vacuum motor should be connected with the filtration unit by a connector which is

located at one end of the filter flask.

8. The Vacuum produces a negative force which allows the suction of filtrate within the

membrane filter.

Glass Filtration Apparatus:

Glass filtration apparatus accommodates 25mm membrane filters.

The new design utilizes a nylon Ace-thred adapter to join the glass funnel, filter flask and

fitted disc together.

This design eliminates the need for the clamping device, stopper and base. The unit

should be easy to assemble.
