He was conferred the Padma Bhushan, India's 3rd highest Civilian award, in 2009. In 2019, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's 2nd highest civilian award. Naik is also the recipient of the Economic Times - Business Leader of the year Award, for the year 2008.

Anil Manibhai Naik, popularly known as A. M. Naik, Mechanical Engineering Alumnus of BVM Engineering College, is an Industrialist, Philanthropist and a group Chairman of Larsen & Toubro Limited, an Indian Engineering Conglomerate, and since 2018, the Chairman of the National Skill Development Corporation.

The changes and challenges during 2019 have made our Alma lift the Moon on Earth. We have now created a well equipped and fully furnished Office where Alumni can hold meetings, invite dignitaries and carry on day to day activities. We are in a process of appointing Two full time office staff to support and assist the visiting BVMites and carry out all the year round activities.

Series of city wise informal G2G and URJA Reunions has ignited and accelerated the momentum of rapid rise in Life Membership and have geared up a march towards BVM's historic Platinum Jubilee Celebrations (2023). The outgoing students of the 2019 batch were given a farewell on 03 April 2019. Ashok Pillai, Chief Operating Officer, GMM Pfaudler Ltd., Karamsad was the Chief Guest of the function and Vallabhbhai Thumar, Group Chairman, Alidhra Weavetech Pvt. Ltd., and Virjibhai Ravani, Estate Developer, Green Group, Surat, was the Guest of Honor. Shri Bhikhubhai Patel, President, BVM Alumni Association & Chairman, Charutar Vidya Mandal presided over the function. The students interviewed the Guests who in turn shared their wisdom and rich experiences of professional life. Indrajit Patel and all Heads of Departments requested the students to keep in touch with Alma Mater BVM and promote Class Reunions. 400 plus students attended the function and was an emotional moment for students as they drifted apart from the college.

BVM Urja 2018 reunion was organized at “Art of Living” Ashram, VASAD on Sunday, 29 July 2018 organized by BVM Alumni Association Core Team comprising of Pradeep Patel, Amit Trivedi, Dipak Vyas, Bhasker Desai and Nitin Patel. 232 BVM Alumni including spouses enjoyed the fun and frolic reunion in the serene environment of the Ashram located on the bank of Mahi River in the beautiful Monsoon.

URJA 5-6 Jan 2019

The students of 2018 batch were given a warm welcome on 11 September 2018 and our distinguished alumnus Jashvant Patel, Director, Shyamal Developers, Ahmedabad was the Chief Guest of the function. Harshit Lalpura, the Founder of Hash Media, Ahmedabad was the Guest of Honour of the function. The interaction with them gave a true insight on the professional journey they had as they shared their rich engineering, academic and administrative experience to the incoming students.

Farewell '19

Shri Bhikhubhai Patel, Chairman, CVM chaired the function and addressed the gathering. He emphasized that such reunions should be frequently planned to bring the spirit of brotherhood.

Program was planned as a full day event including Breakfast, Lunch and Hi Tea prepared in the Ashram Kitchen. Antakshari was played amongst BVM alumni against

their spouses group and the event was a very unique experience rejoicing past college days memories. The post lunch session was great fun with a Karaoke program where alumni and their spouses had sung on the beats and music. The entire program was compered by Deepak Vyas.

To gain a momentum of Platinum Jubilee Celebration of BVM (2023) a mega event of " BVM thURJA 2019 " on 5 and 6 was organized on BVM Campus with a prime focus on th January

bringing together senior BVMites graduated before 1970.

Dipak Vyas suggested these distinguished alumni to have a lifelong bonding with Alma Mater BVM. Indrajit Patel, the President of the function informed about the rich legacy of this college and suggested students to work harder in college and boosted the academic morale of the students. About 500 plus students enjoyed the cultural program and showcased their talents.

Indrajit Patel welcomed all the BVMites to the unique gathering by BVM Alumni Association and apprised about the present status of BVM. Shri Bhikhubhai Patel took a note of presence of BVMites in such a huge number and expressed his views for the overall development of BVM and invited BVMites to join hands for this good cause. Shri Bhagyesh Jha delivered a very inspiring lecture. He stressed up on the retired BVMites that life really begins at 60 years and each one should happily live every moment of life! The entire session was very much enjoyed by all.

The majestic opening ceremony commenced with prayers at the front lawns of BVM. The dais was honored by the august presence of Shri Bhikhubhai Patel, President of BVM Alumni Association, V N Patel, Chief Guest of the Inauguration of " BVM URJA 2019 ", M N Patel, Guest of Honour, B M Vyas, Event Chairman, Sharad Amin, Event Convener, Pradeep Patel, Hon. Jt. Secretary, K H Babaria, Hon. Treasurer, Indrajit Patel, Principal BVM and Key note Speaker, Shri Bhagyesh Jha, the Rtd. Collector.

It is over 30 years, I am teaching 'Bonding of Atoms' in Materials Science. However, I am yet to fully understand the ways alumni bond. However, I feel if the bridges are built, humans connect. This very idea has given a rebirth to our newsletter in its novel form - " goVw "!

The 69th Annual Day was celebrated on March 24, 2017 in presence of Dr. C. L Patel Prof. R C Natrajan (Director,IRMA) and Dr. D K Das (Director, SAC- ISRO).

The college distributed 500 tablets to the students in the presence of Dy SP Shri A.M Patel,Dr. Nikhil Zaveri (Director General CVM) and Shri B.B Vahonia (DRDA).

The college was awarded Educational Excellence Award for Start Up and Innovation by Govt of Gujarat on February 5, 2018 at Grand Education Fair, by Hon Chief Minister Shri Vijaybhai Rupani. The college received the grant of ̀ 1.25 crores under this scheme.

Our college was ranked in top 200 technical institutions of the country and sixth in Gujarat State in National Institutional Ranking Frame Work by HRD, Govt of India.

The college received a grant of ` 7 crore from National Program Implementation Unit, New Delhi for Technical Education Quality Improvement Program – III sponsored by World Bank and Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Expert Talk on “Highway Geometry Design Using MX Road”.

A mini Technical Festival – GENESIS’17 was organised on September 8-9, 2017.

Environmental Audit of about 15 Industries was carried out whose Consultancy amounted to approximately ̀ 43 lacs.

An Expert lecture was organized by Civil Engineering Department on Water Resource Management by Shri Gaurav Sindhayi and Shri Manish Prajapati. 73 students of Mechanical and Production Engineering of BVM engineering college visited “Auto Expo-2018” at Delhi. Prof B S Patel, Prof M I Kathadi and Prof H P Patolia accompanied the group during the visit organized on February 8-16, 2018.

An Expert lecture on “Oil & Gas Sector Opportunity”, was given by Vasant Mistry and was organized for the third and final year of Production and Mechanical Engineering on August 17, 2017.

The Faculty group of Production Engineering visited Engimach Exhibition at Gandhinagar on December 10, 2017.

64 students of Production Engineering Department visited “Green Surgicals Pvt Ltd”, Savli Industrial Estate. on March 24, 2017.

Training of “Fusion 360” software was given to the students of production engineering under TEQIP program on April 6, 2017. The total of 35 students were trained by Shri Nirav Sharma and Shri Jaimin Barot.

The MODROB grant of Rs. 2,85,000 for "Knowledge Based Laboratory” was sanctioned by AICTE .

Prof. R B Gandhi, Associate Professor. completed his Ph.D. in Mathematics on the subject 'A Study on Generalized Szasz-Mirakjan Operators' June10, 2017 SVNIT (Surat).

An STTP on “Android Programming and Mobile Applications Development” was organized by IT Dept from December 26-30, 2018. The 44 participants were from 12 colleges. The Dean, Faculty of Engineering,Dr Amit Ganatra (CHARUSAT) inaugurated the function.Mr Dhavat Shah, CMD of Dhavat Infotech addressed the valedictory function.

stIndustry Visit for 1 Years students at Atlanta Transformer, Fine Cast Pvt. Ltd, Rhino Machines Pvt. Ltd. in Vitthal Udyognagar and AMUL Dairy, on August 01-02, 2017.

On January 2, 2018, a three Days Workshop on “Digital Signal Processing” was organized by Electronics Engg. Dept. Shri Izah Ahemad, Shyam Dhuha, Shri Yamn Dang and Shri Swapnil Thakur were the expert speakers at the workshop.

Industry Institute meet was organised and was attended by Mr. Mukesh Vasani, Mr. Narayan Parmar, and Ms. Akta Mehul from AIMTRON Pvt. Ltd.

On 25, April 2017 the Academic Excellence Award was given to toppers of each year by Shri Utkarsh Patel, Shri Harsh Upadhyay, Shri Shamik Trivedi, Shri Jay Khagram and Shri Bhargav Patel.

The off-campus placement drive undertaken at Ahmedabad enthused 1500 students of Gujarat wherein our student Mr Inosh Vishwanathan of final year electronics branch fetched the placement package of ̀ 9 lacs annually in BYJU's.

Dr. Dipak S Vyas (Retd. Professor, Civil Engg Dept., BVM), Visiting Professor at CHARUSAT, rendered his services as an Expert Speaker in Two Days National Seminar on "Current Issues, Challenges and Advancements in Environmental Engineering" organized by SVIT, Vasad in collaboration with GTU from February 2-3, 2018, on the topic of " Emission Trading Scheme - A Step to Control Green house Gases and Global Warming".

Er Vasant Patel, the 1975 alumnus of Mechanical Engineering and Chairman of Dynamic Auto looms India Pvt Ltd. took a lead to organize class reunion on March 4, 2017 at Unjha wherein 175 alumni had participatedand the meeting was attended by our PrincipalProf (Dr) Indrajitbhai Patel, Er Vinod Panchasra, Er Praful Jobanputra, Er Ravindran Nair, Er Ravindra Khetani, Er Kirit Khetani and Er Nitin Patel.

‘The Reunion USA-Canada’ at Vraj Temple, Pennsylvania on July 8-9, 2017 was organized. The dais was honored by Prof. Uday Deopurkar, Mrs Sudhmitaben Amin,Mr Shail Chokhavatia and Er Hemendra Jani. Upcoming Events

On 10 December 2017 at Rifle Club, Ahmedabad around 70 BVMites met in an innovative way under ‘Chai - Par - Dosti’ program. Er Rambhai Patel of 1978 Civil Engineering batch sponsored the program. Er Rambhai Patel, Er Vinodbhai Panchasara, Er Tushar Desai, Er Ravi Nair, Er Mahesh S Sharma, Er Vinod Sharma took active participation to conduct the meetings. The concept of interaction was novel and it was felt that such small interactions in city can enhance the brotherhood amongst the BVMites and during such interactions the progress of alumni, the recent achievements of alumni staying in the city can be shared. Also such small groupings can in a way motivate to start the new Alumni Chapter in any city. Also it was felt that the forthcoming events in college, the resource needs of the college can be taken up for the betterment of the college.

The reunion at Baroda was organized on January 7, 2018 at Polo Club and 157 BVMites enjoyed the talk of Pujya Gnyanvatsal Swami a 1992 alumnus of Mechanical Engineering branch. The program was success due to leadership of Er Ravi Nayar (1977 – Civil) and his volunteer team comprising of Er Bhanu Dalwadi (1977 Civil), Er Bharat Mistry (1976 Civil), Er Madhukant Patel (1976 Civil), Er Nitin Desai (1977 Civil), Er Anup Kothari (1979 Civil), Er R R Shah (1979 Civil), Er Niranjan Talati (1965-Mechanical), Er Ashwin Lakhani (1989 Electrical),Er Jaydeep Bhatt (1985 EC). Er Sharad Shah, Er Krishnaraj Asher, Er Pankaj Chaniara, Er Kuntal Rajyaguru and Er Niranjan Talati made the program joyful.

The reunion of BVM Alumni was organized by Er Navin Devani and his team mates on 12-13 August, 2017 at Lonavala. About 165 plus alumni participated in this event. Dr. Indrajitbhai Patel conveyed the message to build a strong bonding through reunion. On behalf of BVM fraternity Prof Amit Bhavsar, Prof Vinay Patel and Prof Haresh Patolia attended the function. Prof Amit Bhavsar stated that the college had gained academic autonomy under TEQIP program. The event enhanced the alumni bonding.

The Reunion’17 enthused BVM alumni to organize one more reunion on October 1, 2017, at Unava. The main sponsor of this event was Er J S Patel presently the CEO of Elecon Engg Co. Ltd and an alumnus of 1976 batch of Mechanical Engineering. The BVMites from Anand - Bombay belt joined this function whole heartedly. Dr. Indrajitbhai Patel, Principal of BVM enthused the audience and set the new target of BVM Endowment Fund to the tune of 75 crores by the year 2022, when our college will complete its 75 years of its existence. All the participating alumni decided to institute a gold medal of Reunion’17. Mrs Daxaben Bhatt of 1971 batch of Electrical Engineering and Mr Himanshu Amin of 1971 batch of electrical engineering joined this event from overseas. Er. Ravi Nayar, Er.
