Dear Christ Episcopal Community and Friends,

We welcome you warmly to our Gala for Christ Episcopal School, amission and ministry of Christ Episcopal Church. We are so proud of therenewal, resilience, and innovation that have breathed new life into ourcommunity. This year has been exciting as we have sold the JeffersonBuilding and fully moved into the renovated classrooms in the churchbuilding, as the staffs of both church and school have come together inthe Parish House to share administrative space, and as new bylaws andhandbooks and enrichment activities have found their way into the livesof those in our school.

It has also been a year when we have had to continue to makeaccommodation for Covid by use of masks, making social distancing apriority, and having weekly and now biweekly tests given to students andstaff to guarantee health and safety for all. And, of course, we now live ina world of uncertainty with the war in Ukraine and its impact on ourlives.

Still, as a community we have built relationships, trust, and partnerships. Our joint missions to the community, youth gatherings including ourmiddle school students and church kids, plantings of gardens, and jointworship services all point to a healthy relationship between school andchurch.

We must give thanks to all the volunteer efforts of those who continue togo above and beyond to nurture the bonds of church and school throughtheir gifts of time and talent. We thank the Gala Committee, the CESBoard of Trustees, the CEC Vestry, and all the volunteers who have madenot only this gala a reality but all the other wonderful events like the FallFestival Homecoming and the Book Fair, the concerts and plays, and allthe other gatherings come to life.

God has continued to bless us. Thanks to each of you who give that wemay be the best little school with the biggest heart in not only Rockvillebut all of Montgomery County.

Gratitude and blessings to all,

The Rev. Meg IngallsInterim Co-Rector, Christ Church

CES Raise the Paddle 2022Spotlight on our Playgrounds

Thepandemic of the last two years has helped us to appreciate the greatoutdoors even more, including the mental and physical health benefits ofoutdoor exploration for children. We would like to raise $20,000 to repairthe fences, upgrade the equipment of the three playground areas, andprovide additional enhancements.

Benefits:● Improved safety of the space (basketball padding and fences

repaired)● Fresher, more attractive look for prospective parents and current

community● Extra engagement areas designed and added to provide more

activity stations● Visual features added to improve esthetic look● Possible outdoor learning spaces created to encourage teaching

outside

Students go outside to breathe fresh air, get out the wiggles, and use theirbodies and imagination to develop new skills. Let’s make that easy to dowith a renewed and engaging space that provides many differentopportunities for exploration.
