ENODOWMENT LECTURE Training Classes for Professional Courses wasorganized by ANU in Collaboration with Don BoscoTechnical School Press, Guntur. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof.A. Rajendra Prasad distributed certificates to students whosuccessfully completed the job oriented training courses,on 24-04-2018. The courses were jointly organized by ANU,Skill Development Centre and Don Bosco Technical SchoolPress, Guntur under the guidance of Don Bosco TechnicalSchool Press in-charge Father Showry. Mahatma Jothirao Phule Study Centre celebrated the192nd Jayanthi of Mahatma Jothirao Phule on 11th April, 2017.Prof. A. Rajendra Prasad Vice-Chancellor, ANU was theChief Guest. He called upon the people to emulate thesocial model advocated by Mahatma Jothiro Phule forestablishing a democratic and secular society in India in itstrue sense. He described Phule as the Father of Socialrevolution in modern India and pointed out that Phule wasthe first Philosopher in India to wage war against alcoholand promote Widow Remarriages. International Day of Yoga was observed in ANU on 21st June, 2018 at ANU Open Ground in Collaboration with UniversityCollege of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, ANU. Awareness programme on MOOCs

ANU COLLEGE OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES

An awareness programme on MOOCs (Massive OpenOnline Course) was organised at ANU College ofPharmaceutical Sciences on 9th April, 2018. Prof. A.PrameelaRani, Principal, ANUCPS presided over the meeting and SriS. Koteswara Rao, Coordinator, MOOCs, ANU was the ChiefGuest. He said that India being ranked 3rd in the field ofpharmacy should adapt various courses related to pharmacythrough MOOCs for the all round development of buddingPharmacists. He also interacted with students of B.Pharmand M.Pharmacy. Teaching and Non teaching staff ofANUCPS participated in the programme.

Orientation Programme

An orientation pro-gramme was conducted on“Importance of Regulations for Development of field ofPharmacy” at ANUCPS on 11th April, 2018. Prof. Sai Kishore,Professor, Bapatla College of Pharmacy, the guest speakeroutlined the regulations to be followed for smooth working ofpharmacy and emphasised its importance. Prof. A.PrameelaRani, principal, ANUCPS felicitated the Speaker. TheTeaching & Non teaching staff, Students of ANUCPSparticipated in the programme.

NIRF RankingANU College of Pharmaceutical Sciences got ranked in 51-75 rank band in ranks released by National institute of

Ranking frame work (NIRF), Dept of MHRD, Government of India for the year 2017- 18. In this context, Prof. A.RajendraPrasad, Vice-Chancellor, ANU and other University authorities congratulated Prof. A.Prameela Rani, Principal, Teachingand Non- teaching Faculty of ANUCPS on 10th April, 2018.

ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATIONS

ANUCPS celebrated its 8th anniversary function on 25th April, 2018 with Pomp and grandeur. Prof. A.Rajendra Prasad,Vice Chancellor, ANU the Chief Guest extended his wishes to the Principal and faculty of Pharmacy for all round developmentof college in the coming years. Workshop on Model MakingANU CAP organized a two day workshop on Model

OBITUARY

Dr. J. Siva Rama Krishna, Department of Physics passed away on18-06-2018. In a meeting, the University officials, staff and studentsacknowledged the services rendered by him and conveyed condolencesto the bereaved family.

APPECET - 2018

Women candidates applied for APPECET -2018. The Test wasconducted for eight days from 24th to 31st May on the cam-pus. The Physical Test was held for Men for 6 days and forwomen for 2 days. A total of 2790 including 581 women candi-dates attended the test. Around 97% candidates were quali-fied in the tests. Dr.P.P.S.Paul Kumar acted as Convener ofAPPECET-2018. The Examiners were drawn from differentUniversities and professional colleges of Andhra Pradesh.

Dr. P. Ankamma Chowdary, newly appointed Chairmanof Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, visited AcharyaNagarjuna University campus to review the state level Athleticssummer coaching camp on 11th May, 2018. The camp wasstarted on 24th April to train children of 14 to 18 years agegroup at SAAP Center of Excellence in Athletics at ANU. Dr.P.Ankamma Chowdary asked the concerned officials aboutthe details of the training program and of the necessaryarrangements for the camp. He sought the advices, help andco-operation of experts in the field of sports to develop AndhraPradesh in the field of sports, and assured the students thathe would very soon secure the guidance of international coachesalso. Valedictory Function of Athletics Summer CampThe summer coaching camp in Athletics conducted by

SAAP at center of excellence in Athletics at ANU wassuccessfully completed on 14th May, 2018. Dr. P.P.S.PaulKumar, Principal, UCPESS, ANU was the Chief Guest for thisfunction. regarding their skills. All the trainers were given sports kitsand certificates.

Sports Schools Selections at ANUSports Authority of Andhra Pradesh requested the

department of Physical Education, A.N.U to conduct selectiontrails for children who passed 3rd class and are of 8-9 yearsage group for admission into 4th class in Dr.Y.S.R.KadapaSports School and Vijayanagaram Regional Sports School forthe year 2018-19. Each of the above schools have 40 seatswhile 20 are for boys and 20 are for girls. Apart from thecandidates weight and height, the selection tests included 30meters flying start, 6 x10 shuttle run, standing broad jump,vertical jump, medical ball throw, Bend and reach, 800 metersrun to judge their physical efficiency.

62 girls and 139 boys from all districts of Andhra Pradeshparticipated in the state level selection test on 26th and 27thof June, 2018. The tests were conducted by Prof.Y.Kishore,Director of Physical Education, ANU and Lecturers in PhysicalEducation from the areas of Krishna University and AcharyaNagarjuna University and testers appointed by SAAP. Whileresearch scholars and students of Physical Educationassisted. Sri.P.Ramakrishna, OD, SAAP, Smt.K.VenkataRamana, Dy. Director of SAAP supervised the entire process.Dr.J.Ramamohan Rao, Sri.D.Suryanarayana, Faculty membersof UCPESS, A.N.U participated took part in the 2 dayprograme.

NSNIS 6 Week Certificate CourseDepartment of Physical Education & Sports Sciences,

ANU has conducted NSNIS 6 Week Certificate Course insports coaching for Athletics, Football, Handball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho & Volleyball from 15th May to 23rd June, 2018. This is forthe 8th time that Sports Authority of India entrusted theresponsibility of conducting this course on university campus.The course was conducted in six disciplines. A Total of 93candidates received training in this course.

Prof. Y. Kishore who served the Department of PhysicalEducation & Sports Sciences as Director of Physical EducationI/c and secretary, Sports Board of Acharya Nagarjuna Universityfor about 12 years retired from his service on attaining the ageof superannuation. Dr. Y. Kishore joined the university asAssistant Director of Physical Education on 10th August, 1981and became Deputy Director of Physical Education in 1994.He worked as first registrar (on deputation) at Krishna University,Machilipatnam during the academic year 2008-09. Prof.Y.Kishore served the University in various positions like, Head,Principal, Dean, Chairman, Board of Studies PhysicalEducation. He also served as co-ordinator, Dean of EducationDepartment. He was also a member of the Academic senate.

As researcher he has many publications, and guided agood number of M.Phils & Ph.Ds. as Directors. He initiated forthe allotment of and organized many South Zone and All IndiaInter University Tournaments. He was the convener forAPPECET for many years till 2016 with very brief internals. Hewas instrumental in making ANU as the first venue in southIndia for the conduct of NSNIS 6 weeks certificates course insports coaching as well as creating very good infrastructure forsports namely Blue Synthetic Athletic Track with flood lightingsystem of Internal standards.
