Business ManagerBusiness ManagerAssalamu Alakum Warahmatullahi WabarakatuAlhamdulillah Allah (swt) has blessed the school once again.

The School Board of Al-Taqwa College is pleased to report an extremely positive fi nancial outcome for the 2012 fi nancial year. A major assumption underpinning the strategic planning process conducted by the School Council in 2012 was that we were expecting a slightly negative impact on enrolment growth during the year. This was due to the economic conditions and another Islamic School opening during 2012. Alhamdulillah, this has not affected us at all.

Alhamdulillah therefore, the School Council continued to adopt a conservative approach to the fi nancial planning and operational management. This was to offset the fi nancial impact the downturn had on our fi nancial outcomes.

The Association continued to maintain high standards across all the key operational activities of the School, and as a result interest in the Association from the local community continued to be stronger than expected and remains extremely high.

The Association had a number of families who were experiencing fi nancial diffi culties, however the School has provided a signifi cant level of support to the families affected. The school worked with these families in order to keep them at the school. The school budgeted over $35,000 to support families with fi nancial hardship or whose partners passed away during the 2012-2013 year.

New enrolments were higher than expected throughout 2012-13. The enrolments in 2013 were 1559 compared to 1360 in 2012. There was an increase of 199 students (14.6%) in comparison to 2012 Alhamdulillah.

The Association satisfi ed all bank and Commonwealth Government fi nancial obligations. During the year the Association undertook capital projects with the majority of the funding sourced from internal cash fl ows. Some government funding and external borrowing was required.

DevelopmentsThe major focus of the strategic direction of the Association over the medium to long term remained the consolidation of the school on its current site. In the short term, due to the uncertain economic environment in which the Association operated, the Council continued to take a conservative approach to planning.

Council took a conservative view of enrolments into 2013 and as the major driver in the

planning process, this refl ected in the 2013 fi nancial budget. Beyond 2013, the Council strategic direction will focus on the potential for the redevelopment and improvement and refurbishment of existing facilities.

The 2012-2013 developments were as follows.• Construction of the new Administration

building was completed and was in full operation by semester two. Cost $4.5+ million

• A new car park and an internal road. Cost $480,000+

• Landscaping most of the school with lovely gardens and synthetic grass. Cost $350,000+

• Fencing was erected around the school, which resolved our increasing safety concerns as the School grew. Cost $90,000+

• Erecting two new playgrounds. Cost $110,000+• Laying additional synthetic grass for the girls

sporting complex. Cost $200,000+• The school will also implement a new IT system

which will streamline all Departments. In 2014 parents will be able to retrieve their school reports online and as well as other benefi ts. Cost $100,000+

• In 2014 the School will most likely implement new IT devices and infrastructure for Year 10-12 students. Cost $500,000+

• Purchasing additional furniture for students and staff in order to be ready for the 2014 school year. Cost $150,000+

• Due to the high increase of enrolments the school will hire 12 classrooms until such time the new campus at Olive Branch will be completed. Cost $220,000+

• Total outlay for the above projects is over $6,700,000 over 2013 and 2014.

• The funds are anticipated to come from Commonwealth, State and other resources.

MarketingThe College adopts a blend of formal and informal processes to manage its reputation. Some of these practices include:• School Tours• School Fete and Open Days• Articles and advertisements in the local press• Ensuring a presence in readily available school

guides• Periodic displays in local shopping precincts• WebsiteThe Marketing plan is revised and updated on a yearly basis.

We thank Allah (swt), parents and the community for their great support. Without this support, we will have not achieved well and nor been successful.

Counselling & Welfare Counselling & Welfare

Alhamdulillah, our College, too, recognises the fundamental human need for wellness and growth. As the Counselling and Welfare Department (CWD), we offer support services based upon a holistic approach that encompasses wellness in all areas: mind, body, and spirit.

As the CWD team, our mission is to ensure that every student has access to evidence-based support through our Department as a means to build positive coping and problem-solving skills, nourish personal growth, and foster awareness of our Islamic faith as a source of comfort and relief.

In addition to providing individual counselling services this year, our Department was busily engaged in the delivery of various school-wide intervention and prevention programs aimed at bringing out the best in our students. These programs included MPower, a social-skills program for girls, as well as Revved-Up, which was an anger-management program for boys.

Assalamu Alaikum

Islam: a way of life that recognises the human propensity to be both happy and sad, to forget and remember, to struggle and grow. A recognition evident in the stories of the best of the best; in Adam’s (as) repentance, in Yunus’ (as) dua, in Ya’qoub’s (as) aching heart, in Ayyub’s (as) patience, and in Muhammad’s (pbuh) tears. An acceptance accompanied by remedies.

Our junior and senior secondary students connected and established a support network through our Supportive Friends Program, and our upper primary students took on positions of responsibility via their participation in Peer Mediation. We also addressed the topic of bullying with our Year 7s, for whom it was, no doubt, both an exciting and challenging year.

We hope that our Department will continue to grow, and in doing so, continue to contribute to the wellbeing and growth of our school community.

We ask Allah (swt) to make His word the spring of our hearts, the light of our chests, the banisher of our sadness and the reliever of our distress.

Occupational Health & SafetyOccupational Health & Safety

Last term we had the exciting opportunity to move into our brand new building that included the purpose-built fi rst aid room. This fi rst aid room is now adjoining the main administration building and includes separate male and female observation rooms.

We continue to be very busy, especially over the colder months. Our relationships with the other staff, children and parents continue to be fostered with good communication and teamwork.

One vital aspect of our daily role here at school is one of education. We see this as a crucial part of the children’s development, particularly those living with life-long conditions.

Day-to-day our role is ever-changing and remains challenging but equally rewarding. All the teachers and staff continue to support us in our role for which we remain highly appreciative of, particularly during the hectic times of the school day.

We look forward to an exciting and challenging 2014 as we continue to grow and develop as a school community.

This was my fi rst year at Al-Taqwa College and was a pleasure to be a part of the Al-Taqwa family. I started the year by building my relationships with the students. Positive relationships foster a positive learning environment. We all want to feel cared for and valued by the signifi cant people in our world. Students are no different.

As a teacher, you wield a great deal of power over your students simply due to the fact that you control their destiny for up to six and a half hours each day, fi ve days a week. When students feel that you value and care for them as individuals, they are more willing to comply with your wishes.

It has been a year fi lled with fun and packed with a variety of activities. I provided the students with both one on one and classroom support to enhance their learning potential. We learned about how to present our information confi dently to our peers and teachers through oral presentations. We also learned how to work successfully together as a group.

We focused on our comprehension and writing skills. We brushed up our research skills with the use of IT. We had lots of fun playing numeracy

games. A number of scaffolding activities were adapted for different learners which were particularly applicable in the pre teaching stage.

Some suggestions that parents and teachers may utilise for special needs students: Pre-teach the language of making suggestions and negotiation, for example:• Why don’t we...• How about we...• I think we should...• We could...• I could...• You could...• This would be better• That’s a great idea• Good thinking.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Principal, our special needs team, staff, teachers and parents for their ongoing support and assistance. I wish all my students the very best for the upcoming year.

LibraryLibraryThe library has been a very busy place for both teachers and students during classes, recess and lunchtimes. Not to mention before and after school.

Friendly and helpful library staff have been assisting people with their research, locating resources, homework, meetings, technology and internet usage.

Study and a love of reading and learning has been encouraged through a mostly quiet environment. Student laptops were loaned to secondary classes to enhance their classroom learning.

Primary classes attended fortnightly library skill sessions to increase their knowledge of library organisation and use.]

From February to August children participated in the Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge, joining many other young people around the state, as well as improving their reading of books, magazines and graphic novels.

During Children’s Book Week in August, fun lunchtime activities such as story times, colouring in, jigsaw puzzles and board games were enjoyed. This year’s theme was ‘Read Across the Universe.’

Speech PathologySpeech PathologyWhat is a speech pathologist? Our role as speech pathologists in the school includes working with children who have communication diffi culties affecting their:• articulation (the way speech sounds are

made)• language (ability to understand and express

oneself) • pragmatics (non-verbal behaviour; social skills)• fl uency (ability to speak without stuttering)• voice

We work individually with children or in small groups (up to three children), often integrating play and fun activities into our therapy sessions. As for secondary students, we work on enabling them with strategies to cope with more complex academic tasks, for example essay planning and vocabulary expansion. A large part of therapy includes the involvement of parents, for instance daily practice of speech sounds at home. Without parental involvement, it is unlikely that children will make signifi cant improvement over time. We often encourage parents to be involved in their child’s progress as much as possible.

We assess the students referred to speech pathology by the teachers on an annual basis. For eligible students, we apply for funding through Independent Schools Victoria so that they may commence therapy the following year. It has been our great pleasure getting alongside the students throughout this year and it has been a rewarding experience!

“The Only disability in life is a bad attitude”Scott Hamilton I am, as always, humbled by the honour of coordinating this Department and am truly blessed to have had another successful year. As the year unfolds, you feel like you have travelled back in time re-collecting all those precious moments. One of those moments was when a random student came up to me and requested to join the program just because her friend was in it, had learnt so much and enjoyed the one on one support.

Alhamdulillah this program gains in strength and momentum every year. Parents are proud and have expressed their gratitude, as we ignited the joy of learning which they witnessed in their own children. The Department comprises of the Principal, teachers, professional consultants, integration aides, therapists and parents who are all equal shareholders. We equip children with a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

This year we welcomed three new members in our Department who faced the challenges head on and contributed to the amazing success of the students achievements. My heartfelt thanks to all, who worked so diligently and ultimately added to the success of the Department. As Dr Seuss so aptly stated, ‘don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because it happened’.

Arabic, Quran & ReligionArabic, Quran & ReligionIt was an enriching and eventful academic year, full of many exciting and remarkable projects. There was a concerted effort to broaden the opportunities for students in Arabic, Religion and Quran.

QuranThroughout the primary school, students were expected to memorise Zuzu Amma by the end of Grade 6. In addition, they were taught how to read Quran using Iqra books and Tajweed rules. To expand the opportunities to learn Quran, the school offered morning Quran classes twice a week to give students more opportunities to be able to learn and memorise Quran.

Furthermore, the school ran extra weekly Quran classes for the advanced Quran students who memorised Surah beyond their required syllabus of their year level. Most of the students who attended those classes on a regular basis were qualifi ed to take part in the School’s Annual Quran Competition which took place during the month of Ramadan. The students competed in different categories such as Quran memorisation, Quran Tarteel, Khutba and Adhan. Winners received prizes and certifi cates. I would like to thank Mrs Najla and Mr Shaheed for their endless support to the Quran Faculty.

ReligionStudents participated in extra curricula activities as part of the Religion curriculum. Ramadan celebrations was one of the major highlights in the primary school. Students were required to search and gather information about particular Islamic countries and decorate their classrooms accordingly. This year, the Art and Religion Faculties worked together to foster a holy atmosphere for Ramadan. Big thanks to Mrs Haroun for her efforts and to all the primary teachers who made Ramadan a very special occasion for the students.

The school celebrated Eid Al-Adha with big festivities. Students practiced the obligations of Hajj during the mini Hajj Day. Students experienced Sawi and Tawaf around the Kabba, drinking Zamzam water and making Dua at Arafat.

The Religion teachers conducted monthly talks to Grade 5 and 6 studentsm educating them about issues such as the importance of Tahara and appropriate preparations for prayer.

One of the major activities in the Religion Department was our SRC students travelling to the Royal Children Hospital and donating $1000 on behalf of the school. It was such a valuable experience for our students to learn the importance of Sadaqa and to feel for the sick.

Anasheed group (C hoir)Students from Grades 4 and 5, joined the choir this year. The students learned Anasheeds in Arabic and English. They performed in many occasions in and out of school hours. The choir worked very hard this year practicing and rehearsing during lunch time and assembly periods. They are to be commended for their efforts and dedication.

ArabicThis year, we introduced ‘Learning Centers Program’ in the Grade 2 classes. Learning Centres aimed to provide the students with the ability to be independent learners and work in groups based on their individual language abilities and learning styles. The Grade 2 Arabic teachers attended a few sessions with consultant Dr Andrea Truckenbrodt to ensure the Program ran effectively and successfully. We aim to expand this curriculum to Grade 3 and 4 next year InshAllah.

Morning and afternoon extra Arabic classes were a huge success this year, as many students benefi ted from the extra Arabic classes and they were able to complete their required homework with supervision from our Arabic teachers.

Another aspect of the year in the primary school was integrating iPads in the Arabic and Quran classes. Our Arabic and Religion teachers attended a full day workshop conducted by the consultant Sarah Pavey, who then incorporated the knowledge gained from the worshop to engage the students in Arabic.

We were blessed this year with parent volunteers who supported the students in Arabic and Quran classes. The parents assisted the lower primary students with basic Quran reading rules and Tajweed.

As I am refl ecting back on year 2013, I am very proud of the direction our Department took and I owe it to the wonderful staff I work with. Thank you all for your continuous efforts to make learning Arabic one of the richest and exciting subjects in the primary school.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Hallak for his endless support and thank the parent volunteers who supported the students throughout the school year.

ArtArtThe Primary Art Program in 2013 predominantly included the students of Grades 5 and 6. The main units for the year were Kingdoms, Meet the Masters and Magical Gardens.

These units saw students learn about some of the most famous artists from around the world including Van Gogh, Picasso and Monet. Students replicated their styles and explored the lives of each artist.

Students also worked on a unit that explored Kingdoms. This included making castles, Kings and Queens, swords and scary dragons. It was a very crafty and entertaining unit!

Term three was a term of much excitement as we combined forces with the Islamic Department to create the Ramadan theme of ‘My Faith, My Country’. What a beautiful and colourful month it was! Lanterns decorated our buildings, students came in costumes and traditional garments, information from across the globe fi lled our class rooms and we held parades.

We ended the year with sparkle a plenty in our beautiful artworks from the unit Magical Gardens. The use of water colours in our drawings and paintings was so special. It left the students feeling so proud of their work.

It was an enjoyable year in the Primary Art Room. As our Grade 6 students leave us to enter Secondary school, they will take with them their refi ned art skills and great memories.

Our Grade 5’s will rejoin me next year to be the leaders in the primary school and members of yet another fun, creative and adventurous journey in the Primary Art Program, inshaAllah.

ICTICTThe year 2013 was a very productive and exciting year for all our primary students. As in the previous years, we aimed to be innovative in our teaching approach and we implemented the most exciting online tools such as Scootle digital objects (learnig paths), Purplemash, Study Ladder, Edmodo to promote eLearning with web2 technologies along with our previous Robotics and ‘WeDo ICT activities’. All these tools enabled students to access the activities set by their teachers online from anywhere and anytime.

Throughout the year all our primary students were involved in different kinds of activities which were integrated into the curriculum.

All primary students signed the ICT user agreement forms, which outlined the guidelines for safe and responsible use of ICT equipment and the Internet. The agreement also stated the

consequences of breaking the rules.

Grade 5 and 6 students participated in the Cyber Safety Talks, which enriched their knowledge of the real dangers on the Internet and how to protect themselves with safe online behaviour.

The Robotics and ‘WeDo Activity’ Education for upper primary students enabled students to discover science, technology, engineering and mathematics in a fun, engaging, and hands-on way. Teams of students designed, built, programed, and tested the robots.

Upper primary students were also involved in activities related to fi le management, word processing, animation, electronic communication, internet safety, electronic presentations, digital stories and spreadsheets.

Lower primary students participated in many activities that were integrated in to the curriculum by using word processing, animation, 2Graph, 2Create a Story, 2Publish, 2Count, Fitzroy Reader programs and internet safety. They also used many digital tools to upgrade their literacy and numeracy skills.

Grade Prep children were engaged in educational activities which were designed to improve their mouse handling, drawing, literacy and numeracy skills.

We also had a fun fi lled ICT Week during term 3 where the entire primary students took the pledge on internet safety in their class rooms and completed activities using web2 tools that were posted through Edmodo.

We are looking forward to implementing more eLearning tools in 2014 which will enhance student learning and engagement in all areas of the curriculum.

MathematicsMathematics2013 was a wonderful and exciting year for our Maths Department. Classroom resources are vital to ensure student’s learning needs are met.

Who does not love a game? In the math classroom, games offer an engaging alternative to worksheets, allowing students to work with others and have fun while learning. They are perfect for practicing new skills or reviewing previously learned content. The key to using math games effectively in the classroom is to provide enough resources to classrooms to assist teachers to plan for and support the learning needs of all students within the restraints of time and budget allocation.

A comprehensive range of maths kits were updated using existing as well as new engaging numeracy resources for use in the Foundation to Grade 6 classrooms. These new resources assisted in delivering more hands on activities to students in any classroom with ease.

This year, students from Foundation to Grade 6 were given the opportunity to participate in the ‘Maths Tabloid Games’. Most of the games were used in class to support the learning programs of individuals, small groups and whole classes. Students learning at a different pace to others in the group played the same card or board game (with the group), but using cards that addressed concepts appropriate to their level of understanding.

We took a different approach to maths assessments in 2013. Grade 3-6 students took part in PAT maths assessments twice throughout the year where results were used to plan for 2014. We have bigger goals to achieve in 2014, inshaAllah.

It has been a busy year for all; InshaAllah all our hard work and dedication will be evident in our student’s achievements in the coming years.

Reading RecoveryReading RecoveryHello and good day. We have had another inspiring and wonderful year of Reading Recovery. Within the Reading Recovery Program, each student’s regular classroom instruction is supplemented with a 50 minute daily lesson individually designed to meet their literacy needs.

Students who attend Reading Recovery are selected as they require extra one on one reading. This gives students the opportunity to catch up at a faster rate than the pace of the classroom learning.

The success of the Reading Recovery Program is due to individualised instruction, careful observation and interaction with each student as a reader and writer. The individualised instruction of Reading Recovery allows me to design daily lessons that build on students’ strengths and guide them into the control of new skills.

I work with students in reading and writing tasks which aim to develop the effective strategies that are used by independent readers and writers. Students then learn to use the strategies that fl uent readers use to read text successfully.

Thus, the path of progress, the books read, the messages written and the interactions with me differ from student to student and from day to day. As well as increasing their knowledge about letters, words, sentences and pictures, working with books and stories gives each student the opportunity to gain a mastery of print conventions.

After attending 17 weeks of Reading Recovery sessions every day for 50 minutes to an hour, three of the students fi nished on level 20, four students fi nished at level 18 /19 and three students fi nished at level 12. Upon commencement of the Program these students reading levels were below 4.

Congratulations to all my students as they improved tremendously. Overall, the students are now confi dent readers.

I look forward to another rewarding year and wish my students many more wonderful years of reading!!

What an amazing year it has been when seven lots of prep classes walked into their classrooms for the very fi rst time. The moment these children showed their eagerness towards learning, we knew this was going to be a fun fi lled year packed with unforgettable learning experiences and moments. All the prep children settled well as they took their fi rst steps of their fi rst year in primary school. So many curious minds, so many creative thinkers, the teachers of the prep team enjoyed being part of our student’s learning journey.

We started off the year with Hilarious Hat Day. We had many helpful parents participate in the delightful occasion. There were plenty of unusual and quirky hat designs. We had gigantic hats, pointy hats, hairy hats, funny hats and hats made out of fruit! Tremendous!

As part of our alphabet learning of the letter V, we had Vibrant Vegetables Day where all the children brought in their favourite vegetables to enjoy during snack time. Yummy yummy in our tummies!

We capped off the fi rst term with a Fun Day. Children were pampered with fairy fl oss, pop-corn and an educational movie to reward and recognise their hard work and efforts of the term. After the half year mark we had 100 Days of School. This was to commemorate the prep’s 100th day of school and for some prep teachers, our fi rst 100 days of teaching.

As part of our Integrated Studies topic ‘Farm Animals’, we went on a farm excursion at Diggers Rest. Children enjoyed learning how to milk cows and the process of making butter. They were also very excited learning how to handle baby farm animals gently and carefully.

One of the most exciting days we had was the Book Character Dress Up Day. Children dressed up as their favourite book characters. There were so many fabulous homemade costumes. A big pat on our backs!

Sandwich Shape Day gave us a lunch experience not to forget. Many of us created sandwiches made out of different shapes and sizes using various healthy ingredients. They were so creative and yummy that teacher’s wanted a bite!

A massive thank you to all the parents and teachers involved in our extravagant yet unforgettable year.

Grade 1Grade 1

2013 was a very busy and exciting year for the Grade 1’s with so many fun-fi lled activities to do and enjoy.

In Term 1 as part of the topic on ‘Exploring Family Life’ the children went to Ripponlea Estate to see fi rst-hand how people lived long ago. The house which was built more than 100 years ago was huge and beautiful to look at, but, at the same time felt old and spooky. The children got to play olden day games and see how food was prepared. The representatives from the Country Fire Authority conducted a fi re safety session and children learnt how to be safe at home in case of a fi re emergency.

Term 2 also kept the children very occupied. As part of the topic on ‘Habitats and The Environment’, they went to CERES Environmental Park where they learnt all about the importance of recycling and how to look after our environment. The children were taught how to make their own writing paper and they were shown how to plant seeds in pots.

When it came to swimming lessons over a two week period, the children took to the lessons

like ducks to water. What fun they all had! They improved with swimming skills and gained more confi dence; they also learnt about safety in and around water as well as how to behave in a public place.

Term 3 was extremely busy with so many events happening. We celebrated Ramadan and Eid with all the classes decorating their rooms. The children also got to fi nd out how Ramadan is celebrated in other Muslim countries around the world (My country, My Faith). The children enjoyed researching and fi nding out information about their class’s own chosen country.

Following Eid we had Book Week and Literacy and Numeracy Week. The children brought books from home to read and swap with friends. They also got to dress up as story characters and got to read with buddies from another class. An author called Phillip Gwynne came and read books that he had written. A puppet master came to entertain the children with his magical puppets and held them enthralled. They all left the show wanting to make their own puppet theatres and do role-plays. Then as part of Tabloid Maths, the children experienced playing maths games in a variety of ways using dice.

But this was not to be the end of all the excitement. Professor Bunsen came to show the children lots of thrilling experiments as part of the topic ‘Kitchen Science’ based on materials and how they change. The children thought the experiments were magic tricks but they were simple science.

The children also loved Gymskool as they got to do lots of fun physical activities.

What an exciting year it has been. All the children and teachers have worked hard and have enjoyed learning together.

It has been a wonderful journey all through for the Grade 2’s. The year was full of exciting and interesting events and experiences.

The year began with a huge splash of water during the all time favourite - ‘Swimming Program’ and the fun never ended ever since.

Time to visit Melbourne Zoo! This was another great learning experience for the young minds of our Grade 2 students. They connected their real life experiences with their knowledge through exposure to various living things.

Here comes Ramadan, the most wonderful time of the year. The students welcomed Ramadan chanting the melodious song, ‘Ahlan Wasahlan Ya Ramadan’ and displaying their huge colourful lanterns in the mosque. The month brought along a whole ocean of knowledge, where the students learnt more and more about other Muslim countries and their ways of celebrating Ramadan.

Along came ‘Book Week’ and ‘Literacy and Numeracy Week’ with another huge wave of fun and frolic. The students were fi lled with excitement and thrill when they participated in various activities such as, Maths Tabloid Games, Puppet Show, Book Swap and not to forget the Author’s visit.

Science Works excursion and Design a toy incursion were also very enjoyable and a great learning experience for the students.

The assembly performances have always been very delightful and entertaining for the students. These special role plays have not only helped the students to learn about the school values but have also helped them to develop confi dence in presenting themselves on the stage and to be a good audience.

Grade 3Grade 3

Once again another wonderful year of great achievements and learning experiences for the Grade 3s. 2013 was an action packed year as usual with many fun activities which gave the students an opportunity to enjoy and grow in knowledge.

We started off in Term 1 with a blast by exploring Matter. Professor Bunsen was here to show students how matter reacted and worked. His experiments were fun and entertaining to watch. It was a magical experience for the students.

In term 2, the students began getting ready for the Naplan exams. They also learnt about

Australia and its Aboriginal culture. They went on an excursion to CERES where they got to try many Aboriginal cultural activities like playing the didgeridoo, painting their faces with ochre, throwing the boomerang and tasting many native plants. Students had a chance to

Page 41

experience and learn more about the Aboriginal people in Australia. The students were also involved in the Active Kids Program run by the Wyndham City Council to encourage students to be actively involved in physical activity and promote healthy eating habits leading to a healthier life style.

Term 3 began by welcoming the Holy month of Ramadan and all the festivities that went with it. This year students got to explore how Ramadan was celebrated in other countries. They presented their inquiries about the countries through projects, power points and posters. The Literacy and Numeracy, and Book Weeks got the students attention where they dressed up as book characters and got a chance to meet

author, Simon Crawford. They were also involved in Maths Tabloid Games and watched an interesting Puppet Show.

Term 4 was a short and quick term which started again by welcoming Eid Al Adha. Students got to experience going on a Hajj. As students learnt about Space and Beyond, an infl atable Planetarium was set up in school and this gave students an ‘out of this world’ experience. It was a fun and exciting activity which helped students gain knowledge of Space.

2013 was a memorable year for Grade 3s and I am sure they had a great time learning and enjoying themselves at the same time. I wish them all the best in the years ahead.

Grade 5Grade 5The Grade 5 students were engaged in loads of curricular and extra-curricular activities which were very exciting and fi lled with loads of fun, each having a learning experience of their own.

After spending the fi rst week of school acquainting themselves with the values and vision of the school, a fi rst hand experience at Sovereign Hill kicked off the array of activities that followed; students were very enthusiastic to know more about the Gold Rush and the people of those days. Workshops like ‘Making Friends’ and ‘Peer Mediation’ made a few carry a bit of responsibility on their shoulders while a few others were elected by their mates to be SRC’s. Literacy and Numeracy Week brought students to experience Puppet Theatres and Math Tabloid, meeting Morris Gleitzman was the icing on the cake for many. Role plays and Nasheeds, Assemblies and golden stars you name it and they had it. Camp was bonding time for many as they made friends and got along with people they never did before.

In English, students nearly convinced their teachers to believing that junk food was indeed good for them with their persuasive writing. Narratives and reports were creative and entertaining and procedures brought out the wonderful cooks and technicians in them. Grammar and novels, reading and writing, speaking and listening, spelling and assessments they did it all.

In Maths, the many problems that came their way were tackled skilfully with the help of teachers and peers. Measuring and marking, mapping and plotting, all the possible strategies were used in advancing their learning. Students worked really hard and were challenged extensively in and outside the classroom through different activities.

Integrated Studies with loads of inquiry and projects, students explored the Gold Rush and learnt a lot on hand hygiene, the fi gured out why camels and cacti love and survive in the desert, they started planning a greener world for their future and understood the impact humans have on the environment.

Art and Sport were subjects where students let loose and enjoyed themselves. Some of our kids were fortunate enough to make it to higher level competitions in Athletics.

We wish the grade 5’s all success and a bright future Insha’Allah!

Teachers are caring, dedicated and committed to providing an excellent quality of education for their students; there are specialist teachers in Careers and Student Wellbeing. Staff involvement in school life is all encompassing, including extra-curricular activities and work on various committees. Teachers are involved in policy writing and review and in responding to the needs of the school community as well as setting up innovative programs. Al-Taqwa College enjoys the support and confi dence of its community. I would hope that you will see us in the future as active and effective group of educators and mentors for our students and community. We hope to improve in all areas such as, Presentation Occasions, Parent/Teacher Conferences, Information Nights, Education Week Activities, Curriculum meetings are but some of many opportunities for members of the Al-Taqwa College community to participate in and contribute to the school.

In conclusion, Al-Taqwa Secondary College Vision will be looking forward to the continuation of improving facilities and equipment covering all Learning Areas. Al-Taqwa College is proud of its 28 years of service to the people of the Islamic and Werribee Community and I look forward to continuing my services to strive with the school to provide for the educational needs of this Western Suburb area of Wyndham in Melbourne well into the Future, insha’Allah.

Another year comes to conclusion, an amazing year it has been, as you will read throughout the 2013 Year Book. I would like to thank Mr Hallak, Administration, Teachers, Students, Parents and the Community for all their support and help throughout the year. We look forward to your continuing support in 2014 and beyond. The school is growing at a rapid rate which in turn we must be planning for the future of our Australian Muslim community and student learning. There are some exciting times ahead for Al-Taqwa. My contribution to this year’s year book is to share the vision we have for our student’s education in the years to come.

The school offers a comprehensive curriculum for Years 7 to 12 in the following eight Key Learning Areas: English, Language, Technology, Science, Mathematics, Humanities, Physical and Sport Education and the Arts. All Year 7 to 10 students study units from these core areas. VCE student choice is determined by vocational or further study ambitions and is made from a comprehensive range of courses. Special features of the curriculum include the provision for all year 10 students the study of VCE units. The current Strategic Plan priorities are: Student Learning; Student Engagement and Wellbeing; Student Pathways and Transitions. The school embraces programs that enable the students to access university resources and programs to enhance their VCE studies.

The school’s philosophy is fi rmly based on the belief that every student has the ability to learn. It stresses the development of initiative, integrity and self discipline through a structured Discipline and Welfare Policy which incorporates positive and non-discriminatory relationships amongst boys and girls. It is governed by clear expectations of the whole school community in Islamic values, all of whom, take responsibility for their own actions. The school believes that each student’s happiness, confi dence, feelings of security and sense of belonging is dependent upon an environment where all members are considerate, respectful and courteous to each other. A strength of the school is its ability to maintain a pastoral concern for each individual student through the initial enrolment to post school experience.

The English Faculty works relentlessly to ensure that we equip each student that is entrusted to us, not just with knowledge from books but life skills. We try our best to choose texts that teach the students lessons of humility, acceptance and appreciation. We understand that the education we impart, must motivate and create a curiosity that aspires for excellence. To make learning fun and at the same time hone skills for a holistic learning we encourage our students to participate in various extra – curricula activities. Let us give you a better understanding of this from the students themselves! 2013 Wynspeak CompetitionThis year I had both the honour, and pleasure of representing Al-Taqwa College in the Wynspeak Competition. Making it through the preliminaries (which Sallh won) and to the fi nals, is not an experience I will forget anytime soon. Public speaking, while often daunting, provides us with a fl oor and forum for the expression of our thoughts in a setting quite unlike any other. At times sobering, yet often uplifting, it was quite fascinating, the multitude of ideas spoken eloquently, covering topics that include: euthanasia, the recycling of ideas, the validity of learning from one’s mistakes, and the lessons we can take from history. The thrill (and fear) of speaking to a crowd is unlike any other, and I hope that students from Al-Taqwa College will continue to compete at Wynspeak, and many other public speaking competitions in the years to come and carry the school as well as themselves to further heights.Salih Mohamed 12C

Author Jane Harrison’s visitThis year was a rather interesting year for the Year 10’s. One of the many highlights, and I am sure many of the Year 10’s would agree, was when we had the chance to meet Jane Harrison. For those who do not know her, she is the wonderful author of the play ‘Stolen’, a play studied in-depth for all of us Year 10’s. A wonderful work of art that explores and highlights the horrors experienced by many children of the Stolen Generation I had the privilege, and so did many of the Year 10’s to learn from her some great techniques for creating our own plays and stories, after all, what is better then hearing from an experienced playwright?Siddick 10 C

PESA I was lucky enough to be allowed to join Layel and Saleh and bringing back the experience with me in the form of this article. The Competition

was held with such profession that nerves could be felt circling the room. The contestants had to make two speeches: one prepared and one impromptu, both to an audience of adjudicators, time keepers, teachers, support groups and the other fi nalists. At that moment I did not envy either Salih or Layell ! Despite the intimidation that could be felt by the other speakers, both Al-Taqwa participants spoke confi dently and charismatically and did extremely well and I am grateful to have witnessed their performances.Fatima Haider 12 A

DebatingI am a proud member of the debating team for four years now, it is safe to say that I have great insight into the rewarding and benefi cial experience of debating. It has taught me to work collaboratively with other people to achieve the same objectives. It is conducted outside Al-Taqwa in an environment full of students from many other schools within the region. This allows for many friendships and bonding with students outside of Al-Taqwa College, challenging students outside of their comfort zone giving a feel of similar nature which they may incur whilst at university or beyond. We debated on different matters regarding the Australian public and the global arena. It is not just a matter of determining a winner or a loser, at the end one always comes out as a winner as they are courageous enough to challenge themselves in diffi cult situations. Layell Houblos 12B

Peace for PalestineThis years’ school production was dedicated to the people of Palestine and to highlight their struggle for peace. It was my privilege to be the narrator and also play a cameo role. It was an experience I will never forget.Sead 9E

Message to our VCE studentsWe take this opportunity to bid a fond farewell to our Year 12 students, many of whom have been with us since Prep. May you climb the ladder of success to its highest rung and take with you memories and values that we have tried our very best to instill. Remember every test was in fact a lesson.

I take this opportunity to thank my dedicated team without whom meeting the demands of this challenging year would not have been possible. Lorraine Paul

This year the Maths Faculty continued to grow and we were fortunate enough to have many innovative and enthusiastic teachers as part of our large team. The Faculty welcomed three new staff members this year; Mohammed Islam, Preet Sachdeva and Fatima Saba.

The Faculty members worked extremely hard this year to implement the Australian Curriculum. Several resources were purchased and used by staff members with the objective of making lessons more hands on and tailored to all student needs. Cambridge HOT maths, an ICT program was used both in the classroom and at home making maths more engaging. It contained curriculum-based teaching, learning and assessment resources that catered for all ability levels from underperforming to advanced, and allowed students to work at their own pace.

This year students in Years 7 and 9 sat for the NAPLAN tests with the results analysed, student strengths and weaknesses were identifi ed. The test is used as a screening tool to identify struggling students who may benefi t from additional support and also to select high achieving students for the acceleration classes.

In August many of our students participated in the Australian Mathematics Competition. All students received a certifi cate and some received an award to mark their level of performance. We were very proud of all of the students that participated and look forward to this event in the coming years.

Mathematics Week at the College was also a very successful one. Teachers helped organise a range of competitions and activities during that week. A large number of students participated in the activities that took place with the Chess/Checkers Competition and the Treasure Hunt being among the most popular ones. Other activities that students enjoyed were the Lunchtime Activities, Interclass and Inter-level Competitions and the Daily Morning Quiz Questions.

On the VCE level, we continued to offer all Maths units with enrolments continuing to increase. The year 10 students who chose General Maths Units 1&2 in 2012 have completed Further Maths units 3&4. We endeavour that all students will receive outstanding results for the VCE exams. The College continued to offer accelerated maths programs for students in Years 8 and 9 and the results have been very impressing.

ScienceScienceScience Week 2013Science Week was celebrated during August. The theme this year was ‘A Century of Australian Science’. Australia has a great record of scientifi c excellence, which has made a profound impact in this country and well beyond. It is a record that deserves to be celebrated. Australians can all take pride in our Nobel Prize winners and globally-renowned researchers; our backyard inventors and innovators; our contribution to such great global projects as the Square Kilometre Array. Various activities were conducted to celebrate the achievements of our renowned Scientists. Winners were chosen from each class and awarded prizes during assembly.

HumanitiesHumanities

2013 started with an exigent yet welcoming fortitude as head of the Humanities (HUMS) Faculty. The HUMS Faculty continued to improve their teaching strategies to improve our students’ results in diverse subjects like History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Legal Studies, International Politics and 20th Century History.

Excursions were organised for students to develop their understanding in the different key learning areas, team spirit and rapport with their teachers. The year began with the Year 10 excursion to the Immigration Museum and Sandridge Bridge in April which was to inspire an understanding of the History curriculum. Following the Year 9 excursion to ‘South Werribee Beach’ in Term 3, they covered Pollution and Coastal Deformation for the Geography curriculum. Year 11 and 12 students studying Australian and Global Politics as well as Legal Studies, went on an excursion to Parliament House, Melbourne during Term 3. I would like to acknowledge that the students were on their best behaviour during all these programs.

‘HUMS Week’ was organised, coordinated and promoted as a valuable whole school event during September. This time we focused on the activities as a whole school approach where all

the HUMS classes were involved. Year 9s and 10s started HUMS Week by competing against each other in debating. This was followed by our VCE History/Global/Legal classes competing against each other in a Quiz. Year 11 Business classes earned money for Charity through running a Business Assessment activity. This was organised by our Business teachers in which they earned money by selling Food/Lollies/Balloons etc during recess and lunch time. We accomplished our HUMS week on Friday with the Year 7s and 8s, Asian Pacifi c Countries’ Display where students prepared models and charts relevant to their curriculum and what they learned in Geography during Term 3. Congratulations to all the students who put in great effort and won the competitions.

Our enthusiastic and vibrant team compiled of the educational assets like Shanthi Balakumar, Geetha Nair, Faiekha Schroeder, Serene George, Lorraine Paul, Marwa Baktesh, Nihaya Basha, Farnaaz Ali, Aamar El Hage, Blagica Nikoslovka, Terry Rubesaame, Jay Patterson and myself. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our HUMS Faculty for their unrelenting support and indefatigable contributions.

students read poems. All these students were given complementary prizes for their participation in this assembly.

An Islamic camp was conducted for a selected number of students from Years 10 and 12. Only 16 students were chosen to go on camp for four days. The main focus was Islamic leadership. An intense program was prepared which included videos, discussions, direction and refl ection. Personal development and sexual health were also covered. Direction for them as future wives and mothers was also tackled.

The Qur’an Hifz Program was established this year to train secondary students for the Annual Qur’an Competition. A new category was added to the Competition this year titled, the Athan Competition. I would like to thank Sheikh Abdel Azeem Afi fi , school Imam; Brother Ibrahim Abdel Hafi z and Sister Safi ye Aytekin, School Counsellors, for training the students and getting them ready for the Competition.

The Term 4 Arabic Week held many activities including a Daily Quiz, Essay Writing Competition, Calligraphy Challenge and Treasure Hunt.

The Department held many workshops for students in different year levels discussing current contemporary issues from an Islamic perspective. The response was positive and plan to run more of these workshops. Islamic videos were shown to different classes as a different approach to Islamic values teaching.

Islamic Week was a big event and very successful this year. We had many programs and competitions running: Daily Quiz on general Islamic knowledge, Poetry Competition, Poster Competition and Year Level Islamic Competition during Islamic Week Assembly. Students wrote and presented their own poems and three of them sung Islamic nasheeds. The Assembly was run by the students themselves. The winners of every competition were presented with awards and a gift. The MCs for the Girls’ Assembly were: Amina Seferovic 10B and Bazal Tahira 10B who did a great job which contributed to the success of the assembly. Sara Nur 10B recited verses from the Holy Qur’an, Tasnim Sheikh 9A read her poem, Hodan Hersi 9B and Leyla Breis 7B sang Islamic nasheeds. The MC for the Boys’ Assembly was: Sead Sejfovic 9E, Safwan Muyeen 10C recited verses of the Holy Qur’an and three other

For the second year running, Al-Taqwa College took part in the Wyndham Division inter school competition. This was part of the Secondary Health and PE (H&PE) Faculty plan in promoting student participation in sport, within and outside the curriculum.

The secondary H&PE teachers used extensive video presentations to enhance the teaching of physical education theory lessons. The students were shown videos on water and sun safety, obesity, cancer and other topics covered in curriculum. We also showed Islamic videos on topics such as religious advice in regards to marriage in Islam, as part of their personal development.

The Faculty continued the inter-house competition this year during lunch time on the sports court. We selected the best sportsmen to represent the school throughout the inter-house competition.

The secondary boys and girls sport days were organised during February. The girls held their sports day at the Victoria University Stadium, whilst the boys were sent to the Newport Athletics Park. Omar came fi rst in the boys sport day followed by Othman while Ali and Abu Bakar came third and fourth respectively. In the girls sports day, Ali were the champions followed by Abu Bakar, Othman and then Omar. The best athletes were selected to represent the school in the Wyndham Division Athletics meet.

In April, Al-Taqwa College defeated all the other Islamic schools in the year 9/10 girls’ basketball competition to become the overall champions in the inter Islamic school basketball tournament for the fourth consecutive time. Our Year 7 boys did very well in the Wyndham Division Soccer Tournament. They beat Werribee Secondary College 2-0 in the fi nals thus qualifying for the next round. The Year 8 boys also qualifi ed for the fi nal but lost 1-0 to the same school. In August, six of our students won the Wyndham Division Athletics Finals.

This year, the Faculty continued the NAPFA physical fi tness test for all Year 7 to 9 secondary students in term one and the beep test in term four. The objective of the physical fi tness tests was for the secondary students to learn more about their level of physical fi tness. We also had Taekwondo training for all Health and PE students as part of their PE lesson during semester one.

During H&PE Week in term 4, we organised the Amazing Race, H&PE Quiz, initiative games, boxercise, inter house tennis and basketball for the girls and teachers versus students as well as soccer and volleyball competitions.

Throughout the year the Faculty helped organise the school camps at Camp Coorong for the Year 7 to 10 students. At camp, we ran team building games, low ropes course, hiking and indoor and outdoor games. The main objectives of the camp was to promote ruggedness of character, instill self-confi dence and self-discipline, engender team spirit and build high-performing teams among students. We enabled our students to appreciate outdoor life and develop leadership qualities.

A new artifi cial grass sports area for the girls is proposed to ease the congestion of H&PE classes on the old sports ground and oval.

Food Technology at Al-Taqwa is growing and thriving each passing year . With new equipment, procedures and a fresh enthusiasm the students and teachers started the year anticipating learning and developing new skills.

We had a total of 24 students studying VCE Food Technology and approximately 120 students doing Home Economics as an elective over the academic year.

Most students agreed that their experiences both in the practical and theory lessons had created new interests and had opened their eyes to the connection between food, health and nutrition. These experiences also helped the students develop important life skills and many students walked away from the year feeling more confi dent in their capability to survive in the real world.

Top Designs 2013Top Designs presented by the Melbourne Museum was a valuable learning experience for the Year 12 students where they gained fi rst-hand knowledge on planning, preparing, executing and presenting their portfolios for the end of year assessments. As the students listened to the examiners and people from the industry not only was the learning from school reinforced but there was also an exposure to new areas where students could apply their knowledge and skills to develop in life.

Melbourne Wholesale Fruit and Vegetable MarketAs dawn broke and the day began, so also did the learning experience for the Year 11 Food Technology class on their visit to the Market. For some students this was one of the richest learning experiences as they had never seen such an array of fruits, vegetables and fl owers. They never realised that so much planning and work, from so many individuals, contributed to actually bringing food to their plates.

Parent Participation ClassesHaving parents contribute to the learning environment was always welcome and this year we had the pleasure of having two parents, Linda El Samad and Malyoon Said, who came to the Home Economics Class and shared their skills with the junior classes. The students were excited about the food they cooked and thoroughly enjoyed the learning experience. Thank you to Ms El Samad and Ms Said for giving us their time and expertise. We look forward to having them back and also hope that some other parents come on board.

Thermomix IncursionIt is said that ‘Seeing is believing’ and the opportunity to see the Thermomix in action was just that. The senior Food Technology students

Food TechnologyFood Technologyand some staff members were present for the demonstration. They were awed and inspired by this amazing kitchen appliance and the various uses it presented in a modern day kitchen. The convenience and ease with which food was prepared to perfection, makes it a desirable piece of equipment for every kitchen.

Year 12 School Assessed Task: PortfoliosWith 17 students all working on different food items, ranging from main courses, entrees, deserts and even preserves, the Home Economics theory room was a busy beehive buzzing with activity. This was the most hectic time for the students and teachers, who had to ensure that all productions went to plan. The students worked with confi dence and demonstrated their skills, not only in preparing mouth watering foods, but also presenting them in a professional manner. In spite of the ups and downs the students managed to complete their outcomes, making it one of the most rewarding and satisfying experiences for all.

The year closed not only with a feeling of pride in work and a sense of confi dence but also a close bond between the students in various classes, where they shared not only the cooking, washing and cleaning, but also the journey in the creation of the food that nourished both the body and soul.

ICT and Media teachers worked together to prepare the students for this dynamic world where technology is changing every moment. As the curriculum changed this year due to the ACARA introduction, IT followed the AUSVELS curriculum to plan for junior ICT from Years 7 to 9. The programs were organised in such a way to support the students wishing to choose VCE IT, to be ready for the VCE program. New web 2 tools were included in the teaching program to teach the latest skills. Hopefully digital learning programs will be introduced next year.

IT Week activities included a Touch Typing Competition, Quiz Competition, Poster Creation, Video, Clay Modelling as well as a PowerPoint Presentation regarding ergonomics was organised to improve awareness amongst students on how to use computers and be health conscious at the same time. There were some exciting videos organised for students to watch during lunch time, to increase their knowledge about amazing future technology.

VCE students enjoyed the challenges in many of the projects they undertook this year.

In UUnit 1, students developed an understanding of the relationship between the media, technology and representations presented in media forms. They studied the relationship between media technology, audiences and society. Students developed analytical skills and an understanding of the contribution of codes and conventions to the creation of meaning in media products, the role and signifi cance of selection processes in their construction, the role audiences play in constructing meaning from media representations, and the creative and cultural impact of new media technologies.

In Unit 2, students developed their understanding of the specialist production stages and roles within the collaborative organisation of media production. Students also developed an understanding of media industry issues and developments relating to production stages and roles, and the broader framework within which Australian media organisations operate.

MediaMediaDuring Unit 3, students were shown fi lm production and story elements, and learnt to recognise the role and signifi cance of narrative organisation in two fi ctional fi lms they studied: Run Lola Run and Psycho. They examined how these elements worked together to structure meaning and engage audiences.

Students also completed a media production design plan for a specifi c media form and audience. They presented the relevant specifi cations as a written planning document, with visual presentations that employ media planning conventions appropriate to the media form in which they chose to work. Students analysed the relationship between media texts, social values and discourses in the media. The nature and extent of media infl uence, the relationship between the media, audiences and media regulation were also critically analysed.

SentulSentulAssalamu’alaikum wrwb

Alhamdulillah, praises to Allah (swt) for all the blessings he has given to us. In this new academic year 2013-2014, Al-Taqwa College Indonesia was offi cially registered as a Cambridge School and has a new challenge implementing the Cambridge Curriculum from Primary through to Secondary.

Teachers, students and parents have been more enthusiast this year. This refl ected from the teachers’ continuous improvements in their preparations and providing challenging programs for students, students eagerness and active participation in both academic and extracurricular programs, and parents active engagement in supporting the school’s programs.

In preparing students to be ready for future challenges surrounded by vast technology development, we also started to integrate the learning process with technology. We provided students with a netbook and protected internet access to enrich their learning activities in and out of the classroom.

In brief, we are optimistic for a brighter future and development of our beloved school at Sentul. We would especially like to thank Mr Omar Hallak for his everlasting support and may Al-Taqwa College Indonesia bring barakah to all its stakeholders. Aamiin.

Muslimah

Young learners should be motivated to take lessons and gain knowledge through every activity. Thus, we try to set daily routines, provide fun activities and apply a variety of methods for their motor, visual and auditory learning styles.

During Term I we conducted a swimming program (which will be held once a term), a Home Reading Program and Assembly. Our Home Reading Program requires cooperation with parents to support the lower primary literacy skills.

In September, Nuraini Karyapradipta (parent of Zahid and Lily) performed as story tellers for our lower primary students. This program will be held once in a month with parental support. We hope the other programs such as Manasik Hajj, horse riding, excursions, home visits etc, will fi ll the year with joy and precious experiences for the students.

In our values we recognise all members of our learning community, including our students, our staff and our parents. We value the relationship between learning and teaching. Our values and virtues are underpinned by the Islamic ethos.

Fundamental Principles • The richness of the Islamic tradition, values and

teachings will guide direction and operation of the College within the Australian context and law.

• In accordance with the Islamic concept of justice - every school individual will be treated fairly with no distinction of color, race, religion or gender.

• We will respect and protect the rights of students – to be heard and to express themselves, to protection of their physical well-being and their dignity, and most importantly, their right to quality education that will prepare them for the future.

• Young people are active learners and will be encouraged to strive to do their best to achieve their full potential.

• We will deliver quality education grounded on Islamic principles and values, which will be affordable and accessible to any families who share and believe in these same values and principles.

• We will ensure the holistic development of students by delivering a well-balanced, experientially rich and diverse curriculum that respects learners as individuals. At the same time cultivating their appreciation and sense of responsibility as a part of the larger community in line with the Islamic concept of the Ummah.

• We will promote and implement the restorative approach to student’s wellbeing and management.

ObjectivesStemming from the school’s commitment in achieving excellence within an inclusive educational framework that is grounded on Islamic values and teachings, the College will:• Create a school environment that instills in

students the love and obedience to Allah (swt) in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Al-Quran and the sayings and deeds of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) the Sunnah.

• Provide quality and a holistic education that will develop students’ talents and capabilities to their full potential whilst meeting the aspirations and needs of the College’s Islamic community. This holistic education will ensure an all round development of students physically, mentally, socially and spiritually, guided by Islamic principles and teachings, and cultivating an understanding and appreciation of our Islamic cultural heritage.

• Produce graduates who are proud of their identity as Australian Muslims while retaining respect and appreciation of the Aboriginal cultural traditions and the diversity of Australian ethnic cultural groups.

• Develop students who are competent, adaptable and resilient life long learners with an appreciation of the nature and place of work in our society, opportunities to develop good work practices, and a respect for the rights of others in the work place.

Mission Mission Al-Taqwa College aims to produce good refl ective self-directed learners who have problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
