1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Group FormationWe have embarking into Executive Master in Business and Administration on September 2012. In order to fulfil the group project under Human Resources management (HRM730), weneed run an analysis on human resource department of selected organization and we also have to conduct a personal interview with Human Resources Manager or other person in charge of it. Well-functioning groups do not just form out of nowhere. It takes time for a group to develop to a point where it can be effective and where all members feel connected to it. We have identified four stages that characterize the development of groups. Understanding these stages can helpdetermine what is happening with a group and how to manage what is occurring. These four group development stages areknown as forming, storming, norming, and performing as described below.

1.1.1 Forming This is the initial stage when the group comes together andmembers begin to develop their relationship with one another and learn what is expected of them. This is the stage when team building begins and trust starts to develop. This is also the time when the tasks of the group and the members will be decided. Gangfour Group are consists of four gentlemen from different fields of workingexperiences.

The first member, Abang Ikhwan Abang Othman was graduated from University of ,Australia in bachelor degree of Electrical Engineering. Previously working at Sony Supply Chain in Bandar Baru Bangi but now self-employed at Seni Kehidupan, a corporate branding company.

The next person is Zarul Hafizh bin currently attached withSME Bank as a

Part-time students tend to have a lot more going on alongside of their studies, such as work, a big family etc.Therefore it is extra important to make sure that you understand what times and study methods that your group members have.

1.1.2 Storming During this stage of group development, interpersonal conflicts arise and differences of opinion about the group and its goals will surface. If the group is unable to clearly state its purposes and goals or if it cannot agree on shared goals, the group may collapse at this point. It is important to work through the conflict at this time and to establish clear goals. It is necessary for there to be discussion so everyone feels heard and can come to an agreement on the direction the group is to move in.

We have chosen healthcare institution due to recent issues on nurses in Malaysia. There are too many nurses being trained but too few jobs for them. Eventually we have nominated three healthcare institutions which are:-a) Taman Desa Medical Centre, Jalan Kelang Lama.b) Kelana Jaya Medical Centre, Kelana Jaya.c) Az-Zahrah Islamic Medical Centre, Bandar Baru Bangi.After considering options based on the availability of the human resources manager and also challenges in the human resources department of the organizations, finally we have chosen Kelana Jaya Medical Centre.

Norming Once the group resolves its conflicts, it can now establishpatterns of how to get its work done. Expectations of one

another are clearly articulated and accepted by members of the group. Formal and informal procedures are established in delegating tasks, responding to questions, and in the process by which the group functions. Members of the groupcome to understand how the group as a whole operates. Performing During this final stage of development, issues related to roles, expectations, and norms are no longer of major importance. The group is now focused on its task, working intentionally and effectively to accomplish its goals.

1.2 Kelana Jaya Medical Centre (KJMC)

1.2.1 Background

Kelana Jaya Medical Centre (KJMC) is a privatespecialist hospital owned and managed by TDM Berhad, apublic listed company. KJMC has been serving thecommunity since 1999 and centrally located in theheart of Kelana Jaya township along the LebuhrayaDamansara-Puchong (LDP)It offers a wide range of healthcare services frommedical check-up to all types of surgeries. KJMC aimsto reach the balance between quality care andaffordable healthcare and to ensure high standard ofhealthcare to their patients. Other private specialisthospitals under the group are Kuantan Medical Centre(KMC) and Kuala Terengganu Specialist Hospital (KTS)and Taman Desa Medical Centre (TDMC).

1.2.2 Vision

To be the specialist hospital of choice whereby everyindividual will have an access to high standard ofhealthcare accustomed to any developed countries.

1.2.3 Mision

Every individual should have access to a decent,efficient, high standard and affordable healthcaredelivery.
