KTSP Mandal’s Hutatma Rajguru Mahavidylaya, Rajgurunagar Report of one day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights On 2 nd April, 2018, one day workshop on the topic “INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS” was organized by IQAC, HRM, Rajgurunagar. The workshop was held at Late Vitthalrao Buttepattil auditorium and started around 10 a.m. with a brief introduction by IQAC Chairman, Dr. P.S. Kulkarni. He introduced the guest speakers to the audience. Guest speakers who conducted the workshop were Dr. Sanchita Tewari and Mr. Prabhakar Sharma who are registered patent agents from THIRDIP, Wagholi, Pune. The workshop had two sessions. In the first session, the speakers covered the details about the patentability criteria, types of patents, patent filing, patent examples, landmark patent cases etc. The session was conducted with the help of power point presentation. The speakers threw lights on the history of IPR, about the formation of WTO, introduction of trade in services, copyrights, Geographical Indications etc. The speakers interacted with the audience and cleared their doubts then and there itself. They stressed on the significance of an invention to be novel, non-obvious, and having industrial applications to make them patentable. The audience was also briefed about the necessity of filing a patent. They also gave information about Traditional Knowledge and about the Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL). Later a detailed description was given on U.S. Patent on Paper clips and an Indian patent on Preservation method of Jasmine flowers. The audience was provided with patent papers of the above said cases and later details on how to file patents was discussed. The session was later dispersed for lunch by 2 p.m. The second session started after half an hour of break. This was a question and answer session. Questionnaires were distributed among the audience which was solved by them. Doubts were cleared by the speakers with enthusiasm. The workshop was thus concluded in a success note. Total 138 students from PG departments and 21 staff were present for the workshop. We have collected feedback from the students and teachers and analyzed 10 feedbacks.

SHORT-TERM COURSE On

Mushroom Cultivation

Organized

By

DEPARTMENT OF BOTANY

(2017-18)

Mushrooms have been valued throughout the world as both food and

medicine for thousands of years. They are a rich source of nutrition and

form a major chunk of health foods. The Department of Botany, Hutatma

Rajguru Mahavidyalaya, Rajgurunagar, organized a short term course on

Mushroom Cultivation for under graduate students. Thirty six students

from F.Y.B.Sc. and S.Y.B.Sc. classes participated in this course. The

course carried out from 8th Feb 2018 to 17th Feb 2018. The primary

objective of this programme is to enhance the business skills and to

inculcate entrepreneurship among the students. Laboratory experiment

was divided in to three parts

1) Preparation of Pure culture

2) Preparation of spawn

3) Preparation of Bed

We got the pure culture of Pleurotus mushroom, Initially spawn was

procured from Agricultural college, shivajinagar, Pune. This spawn was

used for preparation of mushroom bed. Altogether 10 beds were prepared

by the students. These beds was incubated in perforated culture rack and

watered thrice in a day. After 15 days plastic bag was removed. The

pinheads of mushroom observed after 2-3 days of removal of plastic bags.

Fully grown mushrooms harvested after one week. Total 3 flush were

taken. Maximum 5 kg mushroom obtained from the 10 beds. As a part of

this course we have organized a one day visit at College of Agriculture,

Shivajinagar on 8th Feb 2018.

One day visit to Mushroom Cultivation Unit

We organized one day visit to Mushroom Cultivation Unit located at College of Agriculture, Shivajinagar on 08/02/2018. Thirty six students from F.Y.B.Sc. and S.Y.B.Sc. classes participated in the visit along with 3 faculty members – Dr. K.M. Nitnaware, Dr. Sangeetha J.S. and Dr. Jagtap S.M.

At the institute, Dr. A.C. Jadhav, Junior Mycologist, gave invaluable guidance to the students on mushroom cultivation. He explained about the different types of mushrooms – both edible and toxic. He gave detailed information about the nutritive and medicinal values of oyster, button, milky mushroom etc. Later he explained in detail, the various steps involved in oyster mushroom cultivation like pure culture preparation, spawn preparation, substrate preparation, spawning, crop management, harvesting etc. He interacted with the students, encouraged them to ask doubts and clarified their queries.

After the demonstration, students visited the incubation rooms to observe the mushroom beds. They observed the various stages of development of oyster mushroom in the beds. The visit turned out to be

very fruitful as the students got valuable information about cultivating Pleurotus sp. of mushroom.

Certificate Distribution Program

The department of Botany successfully conducted the short-term course

on Mushroom cultivation from 8th February to 17th February 2018, under

the coordination of Dr. K.M. Nitnaware. A programme for certificate

distribution of the participated students was organized by the department

on 28th April 2018. The event began at 11.30am. Dr. Sangeetha J.S.

welcomed the guests of honor, Dr. S.B. Patil, Principal, Mr. Kailas

Pacharne, Registrar, Dr. V.D. Kulkarni, Vice-principal and Prof.

G.L.Bhor, Head, Department of Botany, Hutatma Rajguru Mahavidyalaya,

Rajgurunagar. Dr. K.M. Nitnaware presented a slide show on the course

and explained its scope and importance. Certificates were distributed to

the students by the hands of invited guests, HOD and the Course

coordinator. The students later shared their experiences and gave

suggestions for improving the course. It was followed by speech by Dr.

V.D. Kulkarni. He gave insights about the importance of short term

courses and also threw lights on the various courses that our college is

planning for the next academic year. Later, principal Dr. S.B. Patil gave an

inspiring speech and congratulated all the students and the staff for

successfully completing the course. Prof. G.L.Bhor concluded the function

by proposing the vote of thanks. The whole event was efficiently

conducted by Dr. S.M.Jagtap. Later, everyone enjoyed a scrumptious feast

of Mushroom fried rice which was made by using the mushroom, the

students had cultivated.
