The Speaker informed the House that the writ, issued on 30 April 2021, in accordance with section 76 of

the Electoral Act 2017, for the election of a member to serve in the Legislative Assembly for the electoral

district of Upper Hunter in place of Michael John Johnsen, resigned, had been returned with a certificate

endorsed by the Electoral Commissioner advising of the election of David Robert Layzell to serve as

member for the electoral district of Upper Hunter.

Mr Dave Layzell was introduced, took the pledge of loyalty, signed the Roll of the House and took his seat

as member for the electoral district of Upper Hunter.

(1) The Clerk announced that the following members had lodged electronic petitions for presentation:

Mr Ray Williams—from certain citizens requesting the Legislative Assembly legislate that a survivor

recovering from a spousal domestic violence relationship should have access to all NSW First Home Buyer

Grants and Assistance regardless of whether they have previously accessed such benefits.

Mrs Leslie Williams—from certain citizens requesting the Legislative Assembly fund the full

refurbishment of Hastings Secondary College Port Macquarie Campus to accommodate the 750 students

currently enrolled and ensure that all teaching spaces in the school are fit for purpose and to modern

standards.

commit no funding towards the Tweed Greyhound Track Development or prize money for Tweed
