Being the only city to sit across two continents, Istanbul is one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations. If you have time, explore both the European and Asian sides of Turkey’s largest city to appreciate its rich history and culture. The golden horn is the inlet of the Bosphorus separating the two European shores,

and the galata bridge is its most famous crossing. sultanahmet is the historic centre, and here stands sultan ahmed mosque, or blue mosque. Still an active mosque, it’s also a popular tourist attraction. One thing you can’t miss is Turkish cuisine, including fish, and meze and kebabs using the freshest of ingredients.

The Seychelles is the ideal romantic location, with pristine beaches of powder-soft sand, turquoise waters, and a plethora of luxury hotels and resorts. But there’s no excuse for sitting still for too long, with excursions and activities such as fishing, diving, golf, and watersports on offer. mahé is the largest

island and the hub for island-hops and day excursions to other islands within the Seychelles, where there is an opportunity to see the world under the water as you snorkel in one of the carefully protected marine national parks.

Vietnam is known for its natural beauty and cultural diversity, from the beautiful city of hanoi and the scenic halong bay in the north to bustling ho Chi minh City in the south. Historical as it is modern, Ho Chi Minh City is best explored on foot, or get a skyline view from a boat tour on the Saigon River. In between lie ancient

and peaceful Hoi An and the nearby city of danang. Here you’ll find the Cham Culture museum, the largest collection of Cham sculpture and artwork in the world. Not too far away, the city of hue is home to the tomb of king Tu duc; the seven-storey Thien mu pagoda; and the impressive imperial Citadel.

The renowned pinnwela elephant orphanage and breeding camp lies in the hills halfway between Colombo and kandy and, with about 80 animals resident at any one time, claims one of the biggest captive elephant herds in the world. Visitors can watch baby elephants getting their morning feed of milk. Twice daily, the herd ambles down past the souvenir shops riverwards, for bathing accompanied by plenty of splashing. If you’re impressed, you can also do volunteer work at the orphanage.

elephants aren’t native to the southern Thai island of phuket, but former elephant logging camps have now turned to tourism, making an elephant trek here a top pastime for holidaymakers. Elephant rides take you through the jungle, and shows afterwards demonstrate the elephants’ aptitude for soccer and painting. You’re often allowed to hand-feed elephants with bananas for a personal interaction with these impressive creatures.

There’s scarcely a special occasion in india’s southern state of kerala that doesn’t feature a gorgeously caparisoned elephant tinkling with bells and necklaces, and painted in gold leaf. Many are associated with Hindu temples; guruvayur sri krishna Temple has a herd of 60 elephants. But head to the town of Thrissur in April or May and you’ll find the most spectacular event, the not-to-be-missed elephant festival. Dozens of elephants parade through the town carrying mahouts with peacock-feather fans and silk parasols, in an event that incorporates pageantry, religious observance, and sheer spectacle.

Singita Mara River Tented Camp has opened in the

Lamai triangle, the northernmost tip of the Serengeti

National Park in Tanzania. Strategically located on

a sharp bend in the Mara River, the new camp with

six guest tents provides unsurpassed viewing of

the wildebeest river crossings during the annual

migration. With 16 beds surrounded by 40,000

hectares, it is one of very few permanent camps

in the northern corner of the Serengeti.

GT Fish & OysterSome restaurants buzz with energy. Some are relentlessly reliable for exquisitely executed food. GT Fish & Oyster is both.

Giuseppe Tentori is one of Chicago’s more flamboyant chefs, and his colourful personality comes out at his River North restaurant. Tentori, who served as chef de cuisine at the famed Charlie Trotter’s, was raised on a farm outside Milan, an upbringing that in part drives him to source locally.

A bright sunfish ceviche with chimichurri might be the perfect start, alongside the Baja shrimp bruschetta. The lobster- and pea-packed mac and cheese is richness defined; the plate of perfectly golden fish and chips will likely be cleaned, and the cioppino (Italian fish stew) sopped up entirely with sourdough. Endlessly exciting, consistent food is no doubt the reason this spot snagged its Michelin star.

EmbeyaThe new progressive Asian Embeya refocuses fusion, and executes it elegantly and thoughtfully.

Embeya means ‘little one’ in Vietnamese, and was chef Thai Dang’s childhood nickname. Flavours come from far and wide and some from his mother’s homemade cooking, present in dishes like the seafood boudin and the papaya salad.

Chinese flavours are pulled into the impossibly juicy roast chicken, Dang’s take on Peking- style duck. The traditional Vietnamese nuoc cham (sugar, fish sauce, lime juice, and chilli) is a dipping sauce for the seafood-mousse-stuffed snails. Yuzu and sweet soy are served with the vegetable tempura; Japanese aubergine is topped with jalapeño, shallots, and fish sauce. Dang’s new pan-Asian is packed with bright flavours, both familiar and novel.

Au ChevalChef-owner Brendan Sodikoff excels at curating comfort in food, atmosphere, and service. Of his many restaurants, Au Cheval may win the prize for most comforting space. Inviting, leather banquet booths line the walls, the light is warm and glowing: it’s just the spot to while away the night.

The self-proclaimed diner is decidedly luxe; so is the French-meets-US food. Irresistible is the simple, classic, nationally acclaimed burger, but the indulgent 38-ounce porterhouse with foie gras is also worth consideration – when it’s available. If the savoury beef stew with marrow bones or the addictively sweet and spicy General Tso’s fried chicken are too rich for your belly, a simple prep of fresh fish is always on offer.

With so many irresistible choices, it’s a boon they’re open brunch, lunch, and dinner.

From pizzerias and locally focused eateries to modern diners and molecular-gastronomy hotspots, Chicago’s dizzying – and delicious – dining options range from high to low, and everything in between.

The area is best known for its hiking trails, which range from gentle hour-long strolls to strenuous, multi-day treks. But the mountains have more to offer than walking. While not in the same league as some of South Africa’s other national parks, the Drakensberg does feature wildlife-watching opportunities. antelope, from the diminutive klipspringer to the enormous eland, roam freely, and there’s nothing quite like glimpsing them on foot, rather than from a safari vehicle.

It’s also a bird-watcher‘s dream, with enthusiasts booking months in advance to score a spot at the

lammergeyer hide, where sightings of the rare bearded vulture are common.

The mountains are home to hundreds of other species too, and harbour a sanctuary for South Africa’s national bird, the blue Crane.

The Drakensberg also delivers an anthropological encounter with South Africa’s earliest inhabitants, the san. This is one of the best places in the country to view San rock paintings, with the ochre and amber figures decorating caves and overhangs throughout the mountains. Some sites, including caves at royal natal, giant’s Castle, and kamberg, are easily

accessible, with guides on hand to decipher the friezes.

And then, of course, there’s the scenery. It’s difficult to describe the Drakensberg without resorting to clichés. Phrases like ‘soaring peaks’, ‘cascading waterfalls’, ‘emerald-hued hills’, and ‘star-studded night skies’ are often thrown around, but in the case of the Drakensberg, they’re all true. This breathtaking slice of South Africa really is the perfect place for picnickers, photographers, those out for a picturesque drive, or anyone looking for scenery and silence in equal measures.

Turkish jewellery designer Bihter Ayda Pekin talks about her adopted neighbourhood of Galata, a historic area that has become one of the city’s trendiest spots.

At one end of Serdar-i Ekrem – Galata’s most popular street – lies the imposing 14th-century galata Tower 1 , offering splendid panoramic views of the city. Just a stone’s throw away, at the street’s other end, is Pekin’s tiny jewellery boutique, aida pekin 2 .

“I was the first designer to open a shop here, in 2009,” she says. “At that time there were no other shops, though some artists were starting to live in the old buildings. Originally, Galata was full of craftsmen – carpenters, ironsmiths, and glassmakers had workshops here – which makes it amazingly inspiring for someone like me.” In just the few years since, the narrow, picturesque lane has literally sprung to life with buzzing cafés, fashion boutiques, and quirky shops.

“mavra 3 was the first cool café on the street. It’s a place where I like to get a drink after work and catch up with friends from the neighbourhood at the end of the day,” the designer says. Filled at all hours with a hip mix of locals and expats, the café also has eclectic decorative items for sale. Another café she frequents is anjel 4 ; formerly a charcuterie. “I like to grab a quick bite there; the menu changes daily. For a more sophisticated dinner, the georges hotel, has a roof- top bar and French restaurant, le fumoir 5 , with a beautiful view of the Bosphorus.

“For shopping, I recommend the boutiques of famous local fashion designers bahar korçan 6 and arzu kaprol 7 . lunapark 8 offers Turkish-themed design objects that are very popular,” she adds.

Art galleries have also begun to open; Pekin’s favourite is poligon 9 , located diagonally opposite her store. The intimate venue is an experimental exhibition space which focuses on contemporary art.

Pekin recently also became a resident of Serdar-i Ekrem, moving into a newly-renovated historical edifice that was originally built for a prestigious Ottoman banking family. “What I like most of all are these very old buildings where you can feel the spirit of all the different people who lived here,” she comments.

Istanbul may be a sprawling metropolis, but visitors to this neighbourhood are sure to feel at home. “Galata is a small place where you can feel the soul of Old Istanbul, be inspired every second, and be among people who enjoy the same lifestyle.”

London resident Laura Griffith-Jones makes her way to the captivating studio of the East London Printmakers, in the heart of the city’s booming contemporary art scene, to meet some of the group’s highly talented members.

Tucked away in a concrete building in a run-down street in Hackney, the east london printmakers’ studio doesn’t seem like much from the outside. But go beyond those grubby, grey walls and you’ll find a whitewashed world of spacious rooms, where bright strip-lighting illuminates a maze of, giant etching presses, vacuum tables, and higgledy-piggledy shelves on which inks and rollers are neatly lined up.

Rory Brooke founded this artistic powerhouse in 1997, when he returned to London from Birmingham and saw there was no open-access printmaking studio in the East End.

“We held our first meeting in autumn 1998 and our first AGM in December,” he recalls. “Our first exhibition was at Spike Island in Bristol in 1999, and we opened our first studio in the Bow Arts Trust complex in 2000.”

It wasn’t until 2002 that they moved to their current bolt hole. “It took a few months of building wonky shelves at weekends, but we managed to open in 2003,” laughs founding member Ann Norfield.

Since then, East London Printmakers (ELP) has functioned as an independent, non-profit print studio led by professional artists – its purpose: to foster creative potential within an inspiring

environment. There are now about 30 key-holders (with 24-hour access to the studio), over 250 members from the world over (such as Lithuania, Australia, Italy, South Africa), and more than 1,000 visitors annually – an impressive figure, but easy to comprehend. This artists’ den has exceptional equipment for numerous techniques, from silk-screenprinting and etching, to linocut and Japanese woodblock. People flock from near and far for the open-access sessions and workshops taught by ELP artists.

The key-holders feel a strong sense of community.

If you ever need to know anything about a technique, there’s usually someone who has the answer,” says Katy Goutefangea.

“We can bounce ideas off each other and learn from one other,” adds Wuon-Gean Ho. “The others inspire me with their approach, skill, and vision.” Unsurprisingly, the privilege comes with responsibilities – overseeing open-access sessions, attending meetings, and teaching. Wuon-Gean has certainly paid her dues: “I am a tutor and studio technician as well as making my own work here. I am in the studio a lot! I will run seven courses this year, in the UK, USA and Italy,'” she chuckles.

For a group of artists who inspire one another so much, their art varies dramatically. “Because we cover such a diverse range of printmaking practices, there are so many

starting points for new work,” Ann explains.

Wuon-Gean specialises in two forms of printmaking: linocut and Japanese woodblock. She studied the latter at Kyoto Seika University in Japan. “It was amazing to be immersed in a different culture and aesthetic, and learn traditional techniques from incredible craftspeople,” she enthuses. Her work explores movement, memories, and dreams through prints and animation. She transformed a sequence of 40 intricate linocut prints, the Dancing Dress Series, into a dynamic animation entitled Shift, in which a crumpled dress unravels faster and faster until it begins to fly. Accompanied by haunting music, it engenders a powerful, unsettling effect.

ground etching ). “I try to evoke the illustrative images of the 18th and 19th-century periodicals and books using traditional drawing techniques…I hope to make my work look like a study of something relevant, without becoming didactic.”

Not Without Undue Prolixity

conveys a mystical and symbolic scene: a lone man stands on a jagged bluff while another falls from a precipice. The etching is part of a series that explores the sublime.

“There is a need to present information but also to make art visually, allegorically interesting,” she pronounces. “The titles of this series were all quotes from an essay by Herman Melville about the failure of narrative – how it is used to cover up the fundamental emptiness of life.”

In contrast, Katy uses screenprinting to create colourful textile and paper products. “Having full-time access to the studio means you can experiment without feeling any time pressures. It’s allowed me to develop my work and turn what I do into a business,”

she reveals. “My patterns start as drawings. When I’m happy with a pattern, I transfer it onto a screen using a light-sensitive emulsion. In essence, screenprinting is stencilling – the shape of the image is left on the screen, which allows ink to pass through. Once I’ve made the screen, I can use it multiple times and transfer patterns onto linens and papers to make cushions, purses, and notebooks.”

Ann’s work is different again: “I use printmaking as a way of putting together drawn images in exciting new ways. I screen- print more than anything else but also combine other techniques (monoprinting, linocut), according to the kind of image I wish to make.” Her recurring theme of life and death is evident in Lightning Trees, a thrilling series she produced after a trip to the Pyrenees where she saw trees struck by lightning. “I wanted them to seem both dead and alive simultaneously.”

months). Applicants must propose a project and experimentation is encouraged – which is perhaps why Parisian ceramicist Simone Perrotte was selected from August to October 2012. During her MA at the Royal College of Art, the effects of printmaking on ceramics began to fascinate her. The residency enabled her to explore this relationship, and as a result, her art altered significantly. Her earlier work is illustrative – exquisite black-and-gold images of elephants and birds on chalk-white porcelain dishes, created with the ancient technique sgraffito – whereas her recent pieces are more abstract, using screenprinting to create vibrant forms on ceramics and fabric. In Camouflage, the tablecloth’s intense yellow-and-black stripes flow into corresponding shapes on the vase.

“Patterns have different effects on curved forms than flat,” she divulges. “The influence of nature is still present, but it’s nature on a grand scale. As animals blend into their environment, so my objects blend with their background.”

In the six years that I’ve lived and travelled in Vietnam, I’ve seen the country’s 3,000 or so kilometres of sand-fringed coastline become as celebrated as the country’s unique history and culture. Sunworshippers will love Vietnam’s deserted stretches of sand fringing standout luxury resorts, and the enchanting destinations that inspired them.

Historically, Vietnam’s scenic central coast has been the seat of kings, emperors, colonial administrators, and war heroes from both sides. Anchored by the developing city of danang, and incorporating four UNESCO World Heritage Sites – the Champa ruins at my son, hue’s imperial citadel and monument complex, hoi an’s ancient merchant town, and the world’s largest known cave passage hang son doong – today the region is once again under the international spotlight, this time with a little help from the biggest names in luxury hospitality.

A half-hour drive from Danang’s new international

airport, the GHM-managed nam hai seamlessly combines Vietnam’s proud architectural and cultural traditions with award-winning contemporary design. The Sultanate of Oman is home to many natural riches, and you don’t have to be royalty to experience them for yourself. Muscat resident Lucie Cruickshank grabs her GPS and camera, and uncovers Oman’s hidden gems.

As a new visitor to Oman, you could be forgiven for thinking that it is a relaxed and unassuming place, because you would be right. But open your eyes a little wider and you will find many natural wonders waiting to be explored and many thrills to be had there in the process.

Oman has a unique geography, flora, and fauna, not to mention the weather. Year-round sunshine makes for happy holidays, but the more wintry months of November to March are ideal for off-road adventures.

If you have access to a car, you might head out west to the al hoota Caves, at the base of Jebel shams (Mountain of the Sun) in the hajar mountain range. From the visitor centre,

an electric train takes you into the mouth of an underground cave network, a tunnel 2.7 km long. Bats flutter by at head height as you climb past stalagmites and stalactites on the stepped walkway. A pool of translucent, blind fish sits at the lowest accessible point, and fortunately the eerie subterranean lighting is minimal, or you might catch a glimpse of the resident cave spiders.

The balcony walk at the top of Jebel Shams is, however, an experience best reserved for the strong of heart and reliable of car. It is the highest mountain in the Hajar mountain range and reaches 3,009 m at the peak.

Jebel akhdar (Green Mountain) can be traversed on a mountain bike or easily

explored by trekking. You can witness breathtaking views of the steep terraces which cascade down the mountainsides. The fertile land produces apricots, almonds, pomegranate, wild olives, and roses, and it is typically 15˚C cooler than the city of Muscat. If you are feeling brave, you could take a drive up to the top from snake gorge (after a bit of canyon jumping) in a sturdy 4WD. A series of steep ascents and descents round blind corners continues as you wind round the edge on a single-track road, passing perilous drops down the mountainside. Both mountains, however, also have beautifully engineered sealed roads, for those without 4WD capability.

drop down to sea level to experience some natural highs in Oman’s clean blue waters. Diving, kite surfing, fishing, and sailing will enable you to explore the pristine coastal areas.

After about a 90-minute drive east from Muscat on the new highway you will encounter a long stretch of deserted white beaches near Tiwi, a favourite spot for weekend campers. The nearby sinkhole has been made safe and accessible for visitors to descend down into the salty lake below. Cliff jumping is quicker than taking the steps if you are feeling courageous.

While you’re in the area, have a go at wadi bashing – driving a 4WD through dry riverbeds, negotiating boulders, pools, and other hazards in the process. Wadis such as shab, bani khalid, and dayqah are great for a day trip.

Keep on driving south and you will reach the beaches of ras al hadd and ras al Jinz. These are well known for playing host to the giant Omani turtles that lay their eggs in the sand – summertime being the peak season. Book in advance to secure a ticket from the visitor centre for a guided night-time tour of the turtles in action at their nesting sites.

If you enjoy off-roading in the wadis, there are more motoring thrills to be had in the desert with dune bashing. A little instruction will have you flying over the steep sand dunes in no time. Make your base at one of a number of desert camps in the wahiba sands and you could

also enjoy a night camping under the stars – millions of them. Zero light pollution ensures that every shooting star is yours to wish upon.

If all that sounds too exciting for you, then maybe some historical and cultural exploration will appeal instead. A trip to salalah in the Dhofar region of Oman will take you to the frankincense trees in wadi dawkah, one of Oman’s four UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From April until June you can see the local people extract the sap from the trees to make the aromatic incense.

Salalah transforms into something quite magical in the khareef (monsoon) season, from June to September each year. Rain, rolling mists, and cool temperatures could fool you into thinking you had instead landed in the Highlands of Scotland. During this time the blowholes in Salalah are incredible. The waves forcing water through the narrow rock channels are extremely powerful and a spectacular sight.

At the other end of the coast the landscape is very different. Musandam is perched alone at the tip of the UAE, so you will leave Oman before re-entering it again. khasab, the main town, is around 525 km from Muscat. Musandam is where you will find what are known as the ‘Fjords of Arabia’. It is truly a land untouched by time and development, an area of stunning natural beauty. Your journey from Salalah to Musandam encompasses nearly every type of Omani

geography: sabkha (salt flats) mangroves, gravel plains, desert, and mountains, giving you the perfect opportunity for some stunning landscape photography.

Three hours south of Perth, Western Australia‘s capital city, the Margaret River region spans 100 kilometres from Busselton to Augusta and includes the area of yallingup, which is an aboriginal word meaning ‘place of love’. Yallingup became a favourite tourist destination, thanks to its caves, after European settlers came upon it in 1899. With vineyards virtually rolling into the ocean, the range of outdoor activities is endless, although there are few activities around the river itself. Or forgo the walking shoes entirely and focus on sampling world-class wine and a local cuisine sure to ruin any diet.

Western Australia has a spectacular coastline, and one way of exploring its highlights such as geographe bay and

the nearby majestic eagle and bunker bays is by boat. Float along the craggy cliffs and coves, millions of years old, where smugglers once hid their treasures – now guarded by New Zealand fur seals who are usually detected by their aroma long before they’re seen sunbathing on the rocks.

Other residents include penguins, Wandering Albatross, and playful dolphins. Visit between September and December for sightings of humpbacks and the rare blue whale. Arabic is the official and main language, but English is widely spoken. behaviour on board, including intoxication,

disrupts the operational safety of an aircraft,

and up to three years’ imprisonment, or both.

هل ستتوقف في الدوحة؟

إذا كنت ستتوقف في الدوحة، أو إذا كانت الدوحة وجهتك النهائية،

فستستلم محفظة لبطاقة الصعود إلى الطائرة باللون األزرق إضافة إلى

بطاقة من نفس اللون لحقائب اليد عند قيامك بتسجيل الدخول إلى

رحلتك في وجهة االنطالق. ولدى وصولك إلى مطار الدوحة الدولي،

ستكون بانتظارك حافلة لنقلك إلى مبنى “القادمون إلى الدوحة”. يرجى

االنتباه للنداءات التي تبث على متن الحافلة للتأكد من نزولك منها عند

توقفها أمام مبنى “القادمون إلى الدوحة”. وبالنسبة لركاب الدرجة

األولى ورجال األعمال، فسيتم نقلهم بواسطة حافلة فاخرة أو سيارة

ليموزين خاصة.

تحويل الرحالت لركاب الدرجة األولى ورجال األعمال

إذا كنت مسافرا في الدرجة األولى أو درجة رجال األعمال عبر مطار

الدوحة الدولي وأمامك رحلة ربط إلى وجهة أخرى، فستستلم محفظة

لبطاقة الصعود إلى الطائرة باللون العنابي إضافة إلى بطاقة من نفس

اللون لحقائب اليد عند قيامك بتسجيل الدخول في وجهة االنطالق.

وتتيح لك المحفظة العنابية إمكانية الدخول إلى “مبنى البريميم – تحويل

الرحالت” الخاص والتابع للخطوط الجوية القطرية. ولدى وصولك إلى مطار الدوحة الدولي، سيتم نقلك

إلى مبنى “البريميم – تحويل الرحالت” بواسطة حافلة فاخرة

أو سيارة ليموزين خاصة.

احتفت الخطوط الجوية القطرية برعايتها بطولة قطر توتال

المفتوحة 2013 لتنس السيدات، وكانت القطرية الناقل الرسمي

للبطولة بينما كانت شركة القطرية لألسواق الحرة التابعة لها الراعي البرونزي لهذا الحدث

السنوي المرموق الذي أقيم على أرض مجمع خليفة الدولي للتنس

واالسكواش.

وتضم قائمة الفائزات بلقب البطولة في دوراتها السابقة مارتينا

وكان للخطوط الجوية القطرية وشركة القطرية لألسواق الحرة

حضور قوي في البطولة هذا العام حيث شاركتا بجناح في قرية

شأنه اإلخالل بالسالمة الجوية للطائرة مثل العبث بأجهزة الكشف عن الدخان أو غير ذلك من األجهزة المتعلقة

بالسالمة الجوية الموجودة على متن الطائرة.

مؤخرا وشارك فيه أشهر دراجي العالم قطعوا خاللها مسافة

تفوق 700 كم مقسمة على ست مراحل.

وفاز بلقب السباق المتسابق البريطاني مارك كافينديش الذي سجل أسرع األزمنة في المراحل

االخيرة من السباق، تاله في المركز الثاني المتسابق األمريكي

برينت بوكوالتر بفارق 25 ثانية وحل ثالثا تايلور فيني.

مركز استقبال الزوار تتيح لكم القيام بجولة ليلية برفقة مرشد

سياحي لالستمتاع بمشاهدة المواقع التي تضع فيها السالحف

العمانية العمالقة بيوضها، خاصة في فصل الصيف.

وإذا كنتم من عشاق القيادة في الصحراء، هناك المزيد من

المغامرات الشيقة الكتشاف كثبان الرمال في الصحراء. انزلوا

في أحد المخيمات الصحراوية المنتشرة في منطقة رمال آل

وهيبة وتمتعوا بقضاء ليلة في المخيم تحت سماء الليل

بالنجوم. المرصعة وال بد من زيارة صاللة في

محافظة ظفار لمشاهدة أشجار اللبان والمر في وادي

دوكة والتي يستخرج من لحائها أجود أنواع البخور، ويعتبر

طريق اللبان واحدا من أربعة مواقع تراثية في السلطنة

أدرجتها منظمة )اليونيسكو( ضمن الئحة التراث العالمي. ويمكنكم مشاهدة السكان

المحليين يستخرجون النسغ من أشجار اللبان لصناعة

البخور العطرية خالل الفترة الممتدة بين شهري أبريل

ويونيو من كل عام.وفي الطرف الثاني من

الساحل، تختلف المناظر

الطبيعية بشكل كبير، حيث يقع رأس مسندم عند حدود

دولة اإلمارات العربية المتحدة، ويفترض مغادرتكم أراضي

السلطنة وعبور أراضي اإلمارات قبل دخول أراضي السلطنة

مجددا باتجاه مدينة خصب التي تبعد حوالي 525 كم عن

العاصمة العمانية مسقط. ويحفل رأس مسندم بالخيران

)جمع خور( ويتميز بأراضيه البكر التي لم تعبث بها يد

الزمان أو اإلنسان أو التنمية، ويوفر مناظرا طبيعية خالبة.

وتضم رحلتكم من صاللة إلى رأس مسندم جميع التضاريس

العمانية تقريبا من سهول ملحية )سبخات( غنية بغابات

شجيرات القرم، وسهول وعرة، وصحارى شاسعة وجبال، ما

تتباهى سلطنة عمان بجمال طبيعتها اآلسر وأحيائها النباتية

والبرية الفريدة وطقسها البديع. ورغم أن الشمس المشرقة على

مدار العام تتيح الفرصة لقضاء عطالت ممتعة في السلطنة في

جميع األوقات، إال أن شهور الشتاء بين نوفمبر ومارس تعتبر

األمثل لعشاق المغامرات بين أحضان الطبيعة الساحرة.

إذا كنتم تقودون سياراتكم بأنفسكم، استهلوا رحلتكم

باالتجاه غربا لزيارة كهوف الهوته الواقعة عند قاعدة جبل الشمس

في سلسلة جبال الحجر، حيث ينطلق قطار كهربائي من مركز

استقبال الزوار إلى مدخل شبكة الكهف تحت األرض عبر نفق يبلغ

طوله 2.7 كيلومتر. وبمجرد دخول الزوار إلى الكهف سترفرف

الخفافيش فوق رؤوسهم بينما يصعدون ممرات تتخللها

تشكيالت جميلة من الحليمات الصخرية الملونة الصاعدة

والهابطة التي تشكلت من تكلس األمالح الذائبة في مياه األمطار

دار األوبرا السلطانية في مسقط

لم يوفر بناء دار األوبرا السلطانية العمانية مجرد بناء مهيب وجميل

للعاصمة العمانية، ولكنه وفر أيضا فرصة لسكان مسقط والسلطنة ككل لالستمتاع

بتشكيلة متنوعة من ضروب الموسيقى والفنون للمرة األولى

في السلطنة. ورغم طابع تصميم مبنى دار األوبرا العصري، إال أنه

يحمل لمسات من الفنون المعمارية اإلسالمية القديمة

أيضا، ويستخدم المهارات الحرفية اليدوية العمانية التقليدية.

سيرا على األقدام. وإذا كنتم تتمتعون بالجرأة بعض الشيء، يمكنكم قيادة سيارة دفع رباعي

قوية وصوال إلى وادي األفاعي )بعد رحلة تتخلها عقبات كثيرة

عبر الوديان(. تنتشر على الطريق الضيقة الحادة صعودا وهبوطا

منعطفات “عمياء” محفوفة بهاويات سحيقة خطرة وخصوصا في طريق العودة نزوال من الجبل.

وتوفر الطبيعة العمانية الساحرة لعشاق الرياضات البحرية

فرصة جذابة للتمتع بهواياتهم المفضلة في المياه الزرقاء

النظيفة، مثل الغوص والتزلج الشراعي وصيد األسماك واإلبحار

الشراعي، ما يتيح لكم اكتشاف المناطق الساحلية البكر.

وستصادفك على بعد 90 دقيقة بالسيارة شرقي مسقط على الطريق السريع الجديد، شواطىء بيضاء مهجورة قرب

طيوي. وتم تعزيز أمان المجرى المائي المؤدي إلى بحيرة من

القيادة فوق الكثبان

تتمتع قرية صيد األسماك “مو إينيه” برياح ساحلية وطقس

معتدل بفضل موقعها في مقاطعة “فان ثييت”، أكثر مقاطعات فيتنام

جفافا، والشهيرة بمناظرها الطبيعية الخالبة وكثبانها الرملية

الشاسعة والشبيهة بالكثبان الرملية الصحراوية، والتي تتراوح

ألوانها المتماوجة بين األحمر الدافىء والذهبي واألبيض النقي.

وتعد سيارات الجيب أفضل طريقة لبلوغ تلك المنطقة الجميلة واجتياز المسافة البالغة 65

كيلومترا، مع التوقف عند “ينابيع الجن” والكثبان الرملية واألخاديد

الرملية الحمراء، قبل اختبار عزيمتكم في قيادة سيارات الدفع

الرباعي فوق الكثبان الرملية.

بسالسة تامة مع الغابات البكر والشواطىء المحيطة بها. وتعزز

هذه الفلل التهوية الطبيعية وتقلص الحاجة إلى تكييف الهواء بأسقفها المرتفعة من الجانبين

والمنكسرة في الوسط على شكل أجنحة فراشة. وبينما تقلص المسابح غير المدفأة المياه

استهالك الكهرباء، توفر الحمامات وغرف الجلوس

المكشوفة إطالالت جميلة على الخليج المتعرج.

وتقع جزيرة “فوكوك” على بعد 50 دقيقة طيران أخرى جنوب

غربي مدينة “هو تشي منه”، وتشتهر بثروتها السمكية الوفيرة وأشجار الفلفل األسود المزروعة فيها وصلصة أسماك “نووك مام”

اللذيذة والمستخدمة في المطبخ الفيتنامي. وتجدر زيارة شاطىء

“باي ثوم” إلى الشمال الشرقي من الجزيرة، والمزدان بأشجار نخيل

جوز الهند التي تطل على مياه المحيط الالزوردية، ويوفر مالذا

سياحيا شاعريا. وأيا كان الموسم ومقر اإلقامة المفضل لديكم،

ستجدون فيتنام توفر لكم منتجعات شاطئية فاخرة وعالمية

المستوى لتنعموا بالشمس والرمال والبحار.

سفح الجبل، إطاللة بانورامية رائعة على المحيط. ويتميز أثاث

لطالما كان ساحل فيتنام األوسط الجميل عبر التاريخ، مقرا لحكم ملوكها وأباطرتها

وحكامها االستعماريين وأبطال حروبها. وتضم مدينة “دانانج”

سريعة النمو التي تتوسط هذا الشريط الساحلي، أربعة مواقع تراثية عالمية مدرجة على قائمة

منظمة اليونيسكو للتراث العالمي وهي: أطالل معابد

“تشامبا” في منطقة “ماي سون” األثرية، والقلعة اإلمبراطورية ومجمع النصب التذكارية في

مدينة “هوي”، ومدينة “هوي آن” التجارية القديمة و”هانج سونج

دونج” أكبر ممرات الكهوف المعروفة في العالم. واستقطبت

هذه المنطقة األضواء العالمية مجددا هذه األيام، بمساعدة

كبرى شركات الضيافة العالمية التي أقامت فيها عددا من

المنتجعات الفاخرة.ويجمع منتجع “نام هاي” الذي

يبعد نصف ساعة بالسيارة عن مطار “دانانج” الدولي الجديد، ما

بين التقاليد المعمارية والثقافية الفيتنامية، والتصميم العصري

الفائز بالجوائز. وتستلهم فلل المنتجع تصميم “فان” الفيتنامي،

شركة “بانيان تري” الرائدة للمنتجعات الصديقة للبيئة منتجع “الجونا النج كو”، أول

منتجعاتها في فيتنام على امتداد شاطىء طوله 3 كيلومترات

ويطل على خليج “النج كو” المدرج على قائمة أجمل خلجان العالم.

ولطالما كان ملوك فيتنام يفضلون المنطقة التي يقع فيها

هذا المنتجع الذي يبعد ساعتين بالسيارة عن “دانانج” عبر نفق

“هاي فان” الجديد، ونحو 60 كيلومترا فقط عن العاصمة

اإلمبراطورية القديمة “هوي” التي تشتهر بقلعتها المدرجة على

قائمة منظمة اليونيسكو للتراث العالمي، ومقابرها المهيبة

ومعابدها متعددة الطوابق.وفي الجنوب، نصادف مدينة

“نها ترانج” التي يعتبرها الفيتناميون وجهة عطالتهم

المفضلة، قبل أن تستقطب المنتجعات الثالثة الجديدة التي

أقيمت على شواطئها حشودا من د السياح األجانب. وبينما يجسمنتجع “إيفاسون آنا ماندارا نها

ترانج” هدوء وسكينة القرى الفيتنامية القديمة وتحيط به

حدائق استوائية تطل على المحيط، يقع شقيقه منتجع

“ننه فان بيي” التابع لشركة “سيكس سنسس” فوق جزيرة

خالية من العمران مقابلة للشاطىء، ويعتبر أحد أكثر

المنتجعات السياحية الفيتنامية عزلة وخصوصية. من ناحيته،

يعتبر منتجع “آن الم ننه فان باي” الواقع على بعد 10 دقائق بالزوارق السريعة شمالي مركز مدينة “نها

ترانج” والذي يتألف من 35 فيال الوجهة المثالية للباحثين عن

تجربة ممتعة في منطقة استوائية منعزلة ولكنها توفر

جميع مزايا المنتجعات الفاخرة. من ناحية أخرى، توفر فلل

الشاطىء والخور إطالالت بانورامية على خليج “ننه فان باي”، بينما توفر فلل منتجع “هل روك”

ال تنتمي الفيلة في األصل إلى هذه الجزيرة الواقعة

جنوبي تايلند، لكن اإلنسان جلبها إليها وشيد لها معسكرات خاصة

لمساعدته في نقل جذوع األشجار من غاباتها الكثيفة. وتحولت تلك

المعسكرات اآلن إلى مواقع سياحية يستمتع فيها السياح

بركوب الفيلة في نزهات جميلة عبر األدغال، ومشاهدة عروض

مهاراتها في لعب كرة القدم والرسم بالفرشاة. وكثيرا ما

يسمح للزوار بإطعام الفيلة الموز بأيديهم، لتعزيز تفاعلهم الشخصي

مع هذه الكائنات المدهشة.

تشتهر منطقة جبال »دراكنسبرج« بدروبها الريفية التي تتيح للزوار القيام بنزهات رائعة سيرا على

األقدام، تتراوح بين نزهات تستغرق ساعة وأخرى تستغرق

عدة أيام. لكن الجبال توفر في الواقع أكثر من مجرد نزهات سيرا

على األقدام، فبالرغم من أن حديقة جبال »دراكنسبرج«

»دراكنسبرج« الوطنية فرصة للتعرف عن كثب على شعب

بالجلد الفاخر،وإنارة بدفء متوهج لتوفر أحلى سهرة. ويتميز

المطعم بنفس الفخامة فخامة أطباقه الفرنسية األمريكية.

وتعتبر شطيرة البيرجر الكالسيكية الشعبية البسيطة

من أبرز أطباق المطعم، لكن طبق الستيك الطري الذي يناهز
