I PANICKED
– I LOST SO
MUCH HAIR
THIN AND
SHEDDING HAIR
It made me sad and somewhat
desperate. I then came across
an article about a lady, who
was taking a supplement with hair
nutrients, which help nourish, vi-
talize and strengthen the hair, so I
got curious. I called my pharmacy
to ask about the product, and since
the pharmacist explained that cus-
tomers were really happy with it, I
chose to give it a try.
PEOPLE TELL ME I DON’T LOOK MY
AGE ANYMORE
I have been taking the Hair VolumeTM
for a year now, and I am thrilled. My
hair is healthy, full and looks nice
again. The big difference was how
the shedding decreased. Hair is so
important to me and since it impro-
ved so much lately, people are star-
ting to notice. The best thing is that
they tell me I don’t look my age”,
Jeanne says delighted.
THE VITAL HAIRNUTRIENTS FOR
BEAUTIFUL HAIR
Thanks to the hair roots, our
hairs can draw nutrients from the
bloodstream, and use them for
growth, health and vitality.
Hair Volume is a Swedish herbal
tablet that works from
the inside out to bring
nutrients to your hair. It
contains an apple extract
rich in Procyanidin-B2, a
hair-growth factor, as well as hor-
setail extract, rich in silicon and
l-cysteine, an essential amino acid
for the synthesis of keratin, the
main constituent of hair. Their ac-
tions are further complemented by
biotin and zinc, essential for hair
beauty.
Jeanne is 60 and has been active all her life, playing sports and walking in nature. After a surgery a few years ago, she lost a lot of hair.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22NATIONAL GIRLS’ NIGHT IN DAY
We asked Olivia Prokopova, four-time ProMiniGolf Association U.S. Open Champion and Hall of Fame inductee, how to make a trip to the mini-golf course even more fun! Her top tip? Try an approach known as “lagging your putt.” Instead of aiming for a hole in one, try to get the ball close to the hole so you can easily sink the ball on your second putt. “For many holes, a 2 is a good score,” she says. Then, when you make your second shot, go slow: “Often putts with the ball on the edge of the hole will fall in if the speed is slow.”
Have some fun!
It’s no secret that watching videos of cute animals like bunnies is an easy way to lift your spirits, but researchers at the University of Leeds in England found that it can also fight stress! They showed volunteers a 30-minute montage featuring animal photos and videos and discovered that subjects’ anxiety decreased by 35%. Previous research has found that being around animals reduces the production of the stress hormone cortisol, and watching videos delivers similar perks! To view adorable bunny clips, visit YouTube and search The Pet Collective’s channel for “bunnies” or “rabbits.”
Be stress-free!A time traveler goes to ancient Rome and realizes he wore his-
torically incorrect clothes for the trip, so he visits a toga shop
to buy new clothes. He looks around the shop and doesn’t see
any togas big enough to fit him, so he walks up to the counter
and asks the clerk, “Do you have XL togas?” to which the clerk
responds, “Well, yes. But why do you need so many?”

For a lasting burst of joy, bring a new house-plant home this week! Researchers report-ing in the journal Urban Forestry & Urban Greening surveyed 4,000 people and found that 74% of subjects said having houseplants improved their emotional well-being during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. They also experienced fewer negative emotions like sadness and fear than those without plants.
Experts say houseplants improve air quality, reducing carbon dioxide levels and increas-ing oxygen to ease stress and boost mood. Plus, caring for a plant helps us feel needed. To help your plants grow healthy:
Dilute 1 gallon of water with 1⁄4 cup of ammo-
nia and use it to water plants once a week.
The ammonia infuses the soil with nitrogen,
which helps plants grow.

One Sunday, I was in church
with my twin 5-year-olds,
Shelby and Ally. Shelby was giggly
and was told to keep quiet by her
sister. “Why? Who’s going to stop
me?” Shelby challenged. That’s
when Ally pointed to the back of
the church and said, “See those

They’re hushers.”

Today is the day to treat yourself to the ultimate comfort food: pot pie! When making your own, it all comes down to the crust, says Ken Haedrich, author of Dinner Pies. “The top crust has to be flaky and shatter into lovely little shards when you spoon into it.”Secrets to success: Let the filling cool to room tem-
perature before spooning it into the crust. “If you put hot
filling in an unbaked pie shell, that’s a recipe for a soggy
crust,” says Haedrich. Also smart: “Make your own
crust, even if you think you’re a total piecrust klutz. It will
taste fabulous and everyone will think you’re a genius!”

Chaos, crime and adventure combine in this whodunit set in Sweet Mountain, Georgia. Lyla Moody and her friends in the Jane Doe Book Club are shocked when a murder takes place in the library—and it’s eerily similar to a scene they just read about in an Agatha Christie novel. After their friend Harper is named as a suspect, they turn to the pages of the classic book for hints to catch the real killer!

In 2020 alone, the National Kitten
Coalition saved more than 210,000 kittens
Heartbroken when she learned very young kittens were being euthanized at animal shelters because they need special care, Susan Spaulding began fostering the sweet little furballs. Her love spread, and today, she and a coalition of animal lovers have rescued hundreds of thousands of tiny kitties
Susan Spaulding couldn’t believe her ears. A man had just come into the San Antonio thrift store where she was volunteering in 1994 and
asked to drop off a box of 13 just-weeks-old kittens. An employee apologized, telling him they didn’t take animals, and directed him to the local shelter.
As he left, Susan asked her friend when she thought the kittens would be ready for adoption because she and her husband were thinking about getting a cat.
“Oh they won’t last the night,” her co-worker replied, explaining kittens that young were too much work. “They will probably be euthanized.”
That’s not fair, Susan thought and raced after the man. “I’ll take the kittens!” she told him.
But how do I care for them? Susan wondered and called a veterinarian, but he told her, “You can’t help them. They’re too young. They’re going to die.”
No, that’s not going to happen, Susan thought. Following her heart and the minimal instructions
the vet offered, she bottle-fed the kittens every few hours and did her best to keep them warm—and to her joy, they all survived and went on to loving homes.
Susan was happy and proud of what she thought would be a one-time kitty rescue mission. But word got around, and soon people started calling her, saying, “I hear you help newborn kittens.”
That’s when the “Kitten Mom” was born.
Heartfelt missionSusan began taking in kittens, just a few here and there. She contacted vets and veterinary schools to learn proper care on everything from how newborn kittens need to be fed to how to help them empty their tiny bladders. Despite the time and labor-intensive care, Susan couldn’t turn any kitten away. Just a few
thousands of kittens!

years later, when she and her husband, Norm, moved to Centreville, Virginia, she was fostering as many as 300 kittens a year. And while she was getting help from vol-unteers, Susan realized she needed to branch out from her basement. So she and her fellow animal lover friend, Rosemarie Crawford, decided to start a “kitten coalition.” They’d teach free classes for people inter-ested in fostering kittens.
There was so much interest —the day of the first class, the line was out the door. So in 2008, Susan and Rosemarie turned their effort into a nonprofit, now called the National Kitten Coalition, NKC (KittenCoalition.org), dedicated to
The ripple effect of loveWith every passing year, interest in the NKC grew. In 2020 alone, the program helped save more than 210,000 kittens!
Today, Susan, now 72 and living in Hickory, North Carolina, also fosters special-needs kittens for the nonprofit NC Paws Cat Rescue, saving even more lives.
“To think I was told kittens couldn’t be saved. But like my husband said to me back then, ‘You don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something.’ And I hope no one else does either,” Susan says. “It’s truly amazing what’s possible when you follow your heart, and collaborate with other people who share your passion.”

increasing survival rates of kittens through education. NKC provides online resources, webinars, conferences and workshops.
Not long after Laura Baughman attended a training session, a preg-
nant cat was brought into the animal shelter where she vol-
unteered. Normally, she’d have been too nervous to take on the responsibility, but now, equipped with the know-how, Laura
signed on to foster the mama-to-be, named Tuxie.
With Laura’s care, Tuxie gave birth to eight kittens—who all
survived and went on to forever homes. The power of knowledge, combined with
lots of love, saves lives, Susan marveled.

Crisp air, vivid colors, cool breezes—fall can be so invigorating!
But if your brainpower isn’t as brisk as the season, you’re not alone:
Up to 82% of women over 50 have bouts of fogginess on a regular
basis, and hectic schedules can make brain drain more likely. To
clear the cobwebs and restore mental clarity, just…
Sure, you wash your hands, but do you include your wrists? Doing so—and using cold water—boosts your brainpower! A National Institutes of Health study found stimulating pulse points in the wrists with cold water for 60 seconds releases hormones that enhance the brain’s ability to retain information and complete mental tasks by 31%, an effect that lasts up to 30 minutes.
Mint’s crisp scent has proven brain-perking powers: British research reveals that inhal-ing aromatic compounds in peppermint boosts the production of stimulating beta brain waves, increasing mental energy by 50% in 2 minutes. To get the benefit, satu-rate a cotton ball with peppermint essential oil and seal it in a zip-top bag so you can sniff on the go. Also smart: popping that cotton ball into one of your car’s air vents so it keeps you alert while driving.
Or a radish or even gum! Just 2 minutes of chewing enhances mental performance by 41%, Italian scientists say. And the benefits last for at least a half hour. Turns out chew-ing boosts the delivery of energizing oxygen to the brain while stimulating regions that govern memory and mental processing.
Staying hydrated drops off our radar in cooler weather, but mild dehydration causes brain fog. The fix: Sip a cup of water mixed with a scoop of d-ribose. In a study in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, folks who did so three times daily increased their mental clarity by 30% and their all-day energy by 45% in three weeks. D-ribose is a simple sugar that enhances cells’ abil-ity to generate ATP, the “energy currency” for body and brain. Try: Life Extension D-Ribose Powder (LifeExtension.com/ww).

With more than 7 mil-lion copies in print, Eat Right 4 Your Type
has been a bestseller for over two decades. Devotees insist the book’s strategies—with a diet customized for each blood type—work absolute magic. In large polls, a whopping 85% to 90% report being delighted by their results. “That’s true across all four blood types,” shares natural-health expert and researcher Peter D’Adamo, N.D., who helped pioneer the famous approach. So why mess with a good thing? “People were constantly asking if my plan works with keto,” he says. The answer: “It can actually personalize the one-size-fits-all diet and make it significantly better!” As proof, he created spe-cial keto guidelines. Folks using them report turbocharged losses of up to 3 pounds every day.
Keto—upgradedBasic keto cuts carbs to about 40 grams a day, slashing the produc-tion of blood sugar. “Your body must switch from burning sugar as fuel to burning ketones, a type of fuel it makes from stored fat,” explains Dr. D’Adamo. This increases fat burn. Yet some get a bigger boost than others. Why? Complicated science boils down to this: There are compounds in food that only some of us digest well. Eat too much stuff you can’t digest, and it causes a domino effect—“inflammation, bloat, suppressed metabolism
and many health problems,” notes the doc. To pinpoint keto foods that’ll block or boost your success, “your blood type is the key to unlock the mystery.”
Turns out, each blood type developed at a specific point in human history and reveals clues about the diet that helped your ancient ancestors survive and thrive. Many studies now link blood type and certain health conditions—for example, type O is least likely to get IBS and most likely to have a slow thyroid. Dr. D’Adamo helped conduct tests to link each blood type to an ideal diet, then melded in keto princi-ples. “In a short time, you see the astonishing difference that comes with eating right for your type!”
Real-world wowCutting carbs did little for Danielle Dungen, 49, until she discovered Dr. D’Adamo’s approach. Using type O’s low-carb tricks, “I instantly had more energy, my GI issues went away and I lost 20 pounds in a month!” says the San Antonio grandmother. Soon down 82 pounds, she became a personal trainer who uses blood-type secrets to amp up results for her keto-loving clients. “Some are skeptical at first, but within a week, realize how amazing it is!”
Want to see for yourself? On the following pages, there’s a keto guide for each blood type. Use the customized advice for your type—and prepare to be transformed!
What if there was a way to personalize the keto diet just for
your body, ensuring you’d speed off spare pounds and
transform your health as quickly and easily as possible?
Well, that’s what a new mash-up between keto and the
approach from Eat Right 4 Your Type is all about…
IT WORKS!
“I’ve tried diet pills, soup fasts, even lap-band surgery—but I
never felt healthy and I gained back everything I lost,” recalls
Debbie Kasadine, 61. Dealing with high
blood pressure and knee pain, the Missouri
grandma thought traditional keto might help.
“It made me lethargic.” Then she discovered
Eat Right 4 Your Type guidelines. As a type
O, she ate standard keto fare, but this time,
skipped dairy and allowed herself more carbs
from fruit. She was soon losing more than a
pound a day as her energy surged. Now 115
pounds lighter with normal blood pressure,
Debbie is spreading the word: “If you want to
feel great and live your best life, try this!”
Debbie lost 115 lbs!

Want to supercharge fat burn? Try keto tweaks ideal for your blood type to
melt up to 18 lbs a week!
Type O traces back 60,000 years to the very first humans. “They
were formidable hunters who ate meat as their main fuel,” says Dr. D’Adamo. Fossils suggest their keto-like eating habits “made them quite tall and healthy for their time,” he adds. Today, about 45% of us carry their hardy blood type. Studies show O’s are resistant to many diseases and have the lowest heart-disease risk of the four types.
Type O keto basicsModern O’s have inherited abundant stomach acid and digestive enzymes needed to
thrive on a traditional keto diet. O’s can round out high-fat, meat-heavy meals with keto staples like fish, eggs, greens, berries and nuts. For best results, go for high-quality pro-tein (like grass-fed meat) and keep carbs to 40 grams a day. Your top success secrets ✓ Hold the cheese! There were no milk cows when type O evolved, and O’s are often short on enzymes that digest dairy. Dr. D’Adamo says cheese typically blocks weight loss for O’s on a standard keto plan. Other keto foods O’s don’t digest well: pork, cau-liflower, cashews, peanuts,
pistachios, sunflower seeds, avocado and coconut.
✓ Watch out for gluten. The wheat protein, often used to improve taste in packaged foods, slows metabolic rate in type O’s, warns Dr. D’Adamo. So check labels on things like broth and roasted nuts.
✓ Shake on iodized salt. Dr. D’Adamo explains that daily doses of iodine are crucial to keep the thyroid and metabo-lism of O’s humming. Feel-great bonusNatural hunters, type O’s tend to produce excess
Around 3000 bc, savvy cave people figured out how to grow
stockpiles of veggies, beans and grain to keep their bellies full. Archaeological evidence hints they gradually developed digestive acids best suited to extracting nutrients from crops. And their immune systems grew toler-ant of irritants in plants, Dr. D’Adamo adds. Today, 40% of us carry blood type A, courtesy of these first farmers.
Type A keto basics Today’s type A’s flourish on a plant-based diet. The keto surprise? Per studies, A’s are at high risk for fattening blood-
sugar issues and diabetes —an issue avoided by
emphasizing low-carb plants! On the A menu: lots of fiber-rich produce, tofu, nuts, seeds
and quinoa; accent with eggs, fish, poul-
try and low-fat dairy.
Your top success secrets ✓ Triple your limit. Enjoying three times the carbs of other keto dieters stimulates the
greatest fat loss in A’s, says Dr. D’Adamo. Why? Extra carbs deliver extra fiber to boost fat-burning bacteria in the GI tract, and A’s are especially responsive to the strategy. Aim for 120 grams of carbs daily.
✓ Skip this big weight-loss blocker. Dr. D’Adamo says A’s lack stomach acid to handle red meat. Avoid it, and in days, you’ll be blown away by how great you feel as pounds fly off! Type A’s also struggle with tomato, cabbage and olives.
✓ Go for garlic. The herb, proven to block the formation of new fat cells, is also called
adrenaline that can cause anxiety in ordinary modern life. Fun and games that get the blood pumping are one recommended way to offset the effect. A high-potency B vitamin also helps balance O body chemistry in a way that prevents anxiety and boosts energy, adds Dr. D’Adamo.
“nature’s antibiotic.” It gives the immunity of A’s a nice boost, says Dr. D’Adamo.
Feel-great bonusChamomile tea and gentle exercise are the best tonics for A’s naturally high stress levels. And lower stress is proven to make weight loss easier!

The rarest of the blood types, type AB is found in less than 5% of the
population. It’s also the newest type, a result of intermingling between type A’s and type B’s a mere 1,200 years ago. Dr. D’Adamo says that means AB’s draw strength from both par-ent blood types, leading to an enhanced immune system and a more adaptable GI tract. AB’s also have brainpower: Studies show they’re more likely to be geniuses than any other type!
Type AB keto basicsDr. D’Adamo says this chameleon-like type can enjoy a mixed bag of keto-friendly
foods, including certain pro-tein, dairy, extra carbs and some plants that are harmful to other types. “Type A and type B can’t tolerate tomatoes, for example, but they’re fine for AB,” he says. AB’s do need to opt for turkey over chicken and lamb over beef or pork. They also want to steer clear of cured meat, avocado, radishes and cassava-based keto products. For best results, aim to keep carbs under 60 grams daily.
Your top success secrets✓ Be starch smart. AB’s can handle extra carbs like type A’s and extra protein like type B’s as long as they keep their
protein and starch separate.Want to add, say, pinto beans to salad? Then skip meat at that sitting to keep bloat at bay.
✓ Go for yogurt. AB’s ben-efit from fermented foods like yogurt, sour cream and many cheeses. Why? They contain probiotics that boost digestion, helping make up for the lower levels of stomach acid in AB’s, Dr. D’Adamo notes.
✓ Eat often. Smaller, more frequent meals are yet another little hack that allows for better digestion, helping compensate for low stomach acid. Mini meals rev metabolism too!
Feel-great bonusA few glasses of wine a week is a nice treat—one that can help lower blood sugar and prevent heart disease in type AB, says Dr. D’Adamo.

Blood type B emerged around 10,000 bc, as rugged folks pushed
into harsh climates of Asia and Europe, relying heav-ily on domesticated animals for food. In modern times, roughly one in 10 people car-ries the blood of these ancient herders. “A healthy type B tends to have the fewest dis-ease risk factors of all blood types,” notes Dr. D’Adamo.
Type B keto basicsThe ancestors of B’s enjoyed a diet fairly similar to a stan-dard keto diet. So you’ll fill up on meat, dairy, fish, eggs, healthy fat, low-starch veggies,
berries, nuts and seeds. For best results, aim to keep carbs around 40 grams per day.
Your top success secrets✓ Try the game-changing swap. “B’s are always amazed at the difference it makes when they cut out chicken,” Dr. D’Adamo says. He notes the popular poultry contains a compound that stalls B weight loss and can harm health. Luckily, turkey doesn’t cause issues and can simply be swapped in. Other foods problematic
for B’s: pork, tomato, peanuts, coconut, olives and avocado.
✓ Say cheese! B’s are the one type that handles dairy well, so load up on cheese, yogurt and sour cream. For a nice boost,
opt for dairy from grass-fed cows; studies show
it’s higher in conju-gated linoleic acid, a compound that helps us naturally
burn more fat.
✓ Go for three squares. Snacks can overstimulate type B appetites and slow weight loss, so stick to three hearty meals, suggests Dr. D’Adamo.
Feel-great bonusIf you eat a lot of dairy, ask your doctor about a daily 300 to 500 mg. magnesium supple-ment. Dr. D’Adamo explains that calcium-rich foods can throw off magnesium levels, a mineral that fights fatigue and “acts as the main catalyst for the type B metabolism.”

Wearing many hats is some-thing that Sarah Ferguson thrives on. The iconic
Duchess of York is, after all, not only a mother and grandmother but the author of dozens of children’s books, a memoir and a new romance novel. Add to that her vast charitable works, and one might assume that her life of accom-plishment has made it easy for the Duchess to love and feel proud of herself. But after a lifetime of struggling with her weight and criticism after her public split from Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth’s
second son, Sarah confesses that her biggest battle has been
just that: to love and accept herself. “No matter how old I get or what
I’ve gone through or accomplished, I can tell you that I’m still a work in progress,” Sarah shares with Woman’s
World. “I’ve gone through many days where I’ve felt unworthy. But
eventually, you have to sit down, put your arm around yourself like you’re hugging someone and say, ‘How do you feel? Are you really as worthless as you think?’ Then you’ll realize you’re doing better than you think.”
Self-compassion is only one half of the equation, however. The other half, the 61-year-old says, is borne of a piece of advice given to her by her grandmother. “When I was 12 years old, she told me to stop thinking about myself and give to others,” Sarah says. “I took that literally, reaching out to help those in need when I was feeling at my worst. That led me to follow my heart and help others through my char-ity, Sarah’s Trust. Giving makes such a difference in times of trouble, and help-ing others allowed me to conquer my fears and to make a difference.”
Here, the Duchess shares her tips and tricks for embracing and loving your true self, finding strength in weakness and fearlessly chasing abundant joy.
Duchess of York, philanthropist and author, Sarah ‘Fergie’ Ferguson, 61, is known around the world for her flaming red hair, genuine spirit and giving heart. But having been thrust into the public eye in her 20s, her journey often came with doubt and low self-worth. Here, the Duchess opens up about how discovering gratitude, self-acceptance and joy in unexpected places led her to true happiness
Don’t miss Sarah’s new novel! In her debut historical romance novel, Her Heart for a Compass (on
sale now!), Sarah shares a part of her own personal journey. “I’m
deeply excited because this book parallels my life in many ways and
proves that anything is possible.” Set in the Victorian era, the book
shares a message about following your heart, even when the odds
are against you. “I want to encourage women to pursue their
dreams and never give up—you’ll surprise yourself in the end!”

WISE WORDS
“I have a vibrant imagination,” Sarah says with a smile. “Something as simple as walk-ing with the dogs can turn into an adventure if you look at things from a different angle. For example, sometimes I would take the camera and go underneath a beautiful big pile of clover to see life from that perspec-tive. A big clover leaf would be like an umbrella on a beach if you were an ant! We all need a little adventure in life—and small shifts in perspective help us find it.”
“My father brought me up to be grate-
ful,” Sarah shares. “He always said,
‘Remember that the kitchen is more
important than the dining room table
and the drive is more important than the
party.’ I always go back and thank peo-
ple. When you do that with a pure and
grateful heart, life is more beautiful.”
“My charity, Sarah’s Trust, raises money
for charities I love,” Sarah says. “It allows
me the freedom to follow my heart and
help. In 1992, we helped move children
hospitalized in a heavily polluted area of
Poland to the mountains. It saved their
lives and taught me that to give a child a
smile is fine, but to give them clean air is
to give them a chance at the world.”
“It can be so easy to look at the negative
side of things in life,” Sarah admits. “It’s
taken me a long time to work earnestly to
keep enjoying life. We may complain one
week about the rain and then turn around
and say it’s too hot once the sun comes
out, instead of realizing that it is actually
a lovely day! These days, I can look at life
in a joyous way—including seeing people
who are struggling and finding joy in
helping them feel at ease. It’s a real gift!”
“When I’m needing strength, I always find it in the smiles of children,” Sarah says. “My grandson, August, is 5 months old, and when he smiles at me, I know he is gen-uinely happy to see me. It makes me over-flow with joy and forget about whatever is troubling me. I’m also fortunate to have amazing friends and family. My children are my best friends, and I’m so grateful.”
“My favorite way to defeat stress is by doing simple things,” Sarah shares. “Things like taking long walks with my dogs and exercising are best. I also love watching Netflix—I’m binge-watching Never Have
I Ever, which has been great. Of course, working to learn something new is great too. Learning about different worlds and people excites and soothes me.”

PRETTY PATTERNS + LABELED BINS
“I love the idea of transforming a basic bookshelf into a supply
hub,” says Higgins. “It’s the perfect way to tidily stow desk over-

apply cheery stick-on wallpaper (like Retro Geometric Removable
Wallpaper, $4 per sq. ft., Wayfair.com) to the back wall of the
bookshelf. Higgins recommends adding easy-to-read labels to
pretty bins and baskets. “This creates ‘secret storage’ that hides

My mother always instilled in me the importance
of a good skincare routine. So when I was invited to a Mary Kay party in 1995, I eagerly accepted. I was going through a divorce, and the positivity of the women and quality of the products uplifted me.
“It was such a good experi-ence that I decided to become a Mary Kay independent beauty consultant myself. You can sign up online or in person then con-nect with another consultant in your area to purchase the starter
kit. The company sets you up with tools and training for suc-cess, including the option to create a website so customers can order directly from you.
“I purchase inventory at a 50% discount every three months to remain an active consultant, and then sell those products at a retail price sug-gested by Mary Kay. As a song-writer who frequently travels to and from Nashville, I spend anywhere from 2 to 10 hours a month on my Mary Kay business, which earns about
$500 a month. I used to hold events, but these days I usu-ally sell with face-to-face pur-chases. I also share my website (MaryKay.com/BelindaFraley-Huesman) with my customers for added convenience.
“I love meeting new women, hearing their stories and seeing how Mary Kay has changed their skin and lifestyle. It’s easy for me because I truly believe in their products and use them daily. When I look in the mirror, I see my mom looking back at me proud that I heeded her advice!”

“THEIR GESTURES OF LOVE SAVED ME!”
I have been going through an incredibly challenging time during the past seven years. There were many times when I did not know where my help would come from. I had no job, no car
or even a place to live at times. Many family members, friends and even strangers would extend a helping hand.
Specifically, my friend Pastor Florine stuck with me and never said a discouraging word. There would be times she would send me finan-cial gifts when I did not expect it, and it was always needed. She will never know how much confidence her gesture of love gave me. I’ll always appreciate her and thank God for all who helped me!
—LaFaye Brown, Atlanta
“A STRANGER WENT OUT OF HIS WAY!”
My cousin from Florida came to visit me in New Jersey, where he grew up. He wanted to go to the cemetery where his parents are buried. Both of us forgot the name of the cemetery but thought we would easily find it. Because of many changes in the area, we had dif-ficulty locating it. Finally, we saw a man standing by the road, and we stopped and asked for his help. He told us that he would lead us there, and we could follow him. But we realized that it wasn’t the cemetery we were looking for. When we told him it wasn’t the right one, he proceeded to lead us to another cemetery, which was the correct one. We thanked him over and over! We were so touched that a stranger was so kind to go out of his way and take time to help us! —Paulette Feintuch, Parsippany, NJ
“SHE APPEARED IN MY TIME OF NEED!”
My office at work was on the second floor, and one day, I fell down the entire flight of stairs from the top to the bottom. When I hit the ground, I knew I was in trouble. For a second,
I didn’t know how I would get up. No sooner had I hit the ground than a woman appeared and told me not to
move and that she was calling 911. She told me she was a nurse and helped me stay calm while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. Her kind and reassuring words were like a bandage to an arm that the doctor confirmed was broken and might need surgery. I felt so grate-ful for this woman who just happened to appear in my time of need!

5-MINUTE ROMANCE
athleen Gullman grumbled and crossed her arms over her apron. By the looks of the crowd forming
at the stall across the farmers market aisle, she shouldn’t have waited another week to pick her squash. But she had decided to leave them behind, which meant that Eddie Perez, her biggest competition at the market, was getting all the customers eager for the vegetable. Kathleen even saw her regulars fervently filling their bas-kets. I hope they’re underripe, she thought to herself, turning back to her stall.
After the farmers market closed, Kathleen filled boxes with her remain-ing produce. Kevin, her right hand at Kathleen’s Greens, would arrive soon to help her load it onto the truck. Wiping her brow, Kathleen looked again across the aisle. Eddie’s actions mirrored her own, and as much as Kathleen loathed the way his business took away from hers, she couldn’t help but admire the view.
Rolled-up sleeves framed strong, bare forearms straining as he stacked his crates. The open collar of his denim shirt revealed a hint of dark chest hair, matching the day-old stubble on his chin. Kathleen was tilting her head to get a better look at him when he caught her staring. Smiling, he winked at her before returning to his fruit.
Kathleen blushed a deep red and turned, nearly knocking over a box of greens. Straightening the box, she turned her attention away from her competitor and to moving her boxes to the side of the stall.
When fellow farmer and foe Eddie winks at her across the stall at the farmers market, Kathleen senses something new growing between them
In the market for true love
“Great crowd today.”Eddie’s deep voice so close to Kathleen
made her jump. She hadn’t heard him approach, and when she turned
around, he stood a foot from her. He had that intoxicating smell she adored, the earthy aroma one acquired from picking beans and digging up tubers.
“Yours was better than mine, I’m afraid. I guess I
should have picked my squash.”“You’ll get them next Saturday
when they realize I picked mine too early,” he said with a grin.
A surprised giggle escaped Kathleen’s throat. She and Eddie had been work-ing these stalls for months without ever

exchanging more than a curt nod. She had created a vision of him as her foe, but he wasn’t funny in that vision…and he certainly didn’t look at her the way he was looking at her now.
“You have a bit of dirt…just here.”Eddie reached out a tanned hand and
brushed his thumb gently across her cheekbone. Kathleen tried to remain still as her heartbeat quickened.
“There. All better.”“Thanks,” she said, glancing around for
an excuse to escape. Eddie’s proximity was giving her unexpected, albeit not unwel-come, butterflies. Still, she was so caught off guard that she felt an urge to get away. But the vendors on either side of her had already packed up and gone, leaving just
the two of them within earshot. Be brave, she told herself. She cleared her throat.
“So, do you work another market on Sundays?”
“I do,” said Eddie. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, drawing her attention back to his forearms. “The one over at Penn Square. Do you?”
“I do the one at Wickery Park.”“Wow, Wickery Park.” Eddie whistled.
“Big spenders in that neighborhood.”Kathleen smiled. “I can’t complain.”“I’m sure they will more than make up
for the lack of squash profit today.”Kathleen glanced over her shoulder for
Kevin and the truck, expecting Eddie to return to his own boxes.
“Well, I should really…” “Listen,” he interrupted. “I’ve been
standing over there week after week, watching you. Every week, I tell myself I’m going to come over and talk to you, and every week I chicken out. So today, I’m not leaving until I know if you’ll have dinner with me.”
Kathleen stared at him, trying to process what was happening. Eddie Perez, her arch nemesis, was asking her out. Eddie Perez, the man she saw customers giggling about every week. He wanted to take her to din-ner, and if she listened to the warm feeling in her belly, she really wanted to let him.
“I, um, I would love to,” she said. “Great!” He smiled again, his bright
white teeth shining at her, making her feel giddy and courageous.
“Just lettuce know when you’re free.”Eddie’s belly shook with laughter as he
took her hand and gave it a squeeze.“I will. I can’t wait.” —Alyssa Symon

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS? I'VE GOT YOU COVERED! I NEED TO LOSE MORE WEIGHT, HOW DO I CONTINUE AFTER THE 21 DAYS?The best part of The Smoothie Diet is that you can use it for as long as you need, to lose as muchweight as you want. I make it super simple to continue using everything you learn in the first 3 weeksto extend the program for the next few weeks or even months. And each additional week will bejust as enjoyable as the first three! My goal is to give you all the tools you need to continue losingweight and getting healthy for as long as you need to.
WON'T I JUST GAIN ALL THE WEIGHT BACK?Unlike other diets, this is not a “quick-fix” . 21 days is only the beginning to a lifetime of better healthand a slimmer body. The #1 comment I get on The Smoothie Diet is that after a few weeks, thecravings for sweets and junk foods have essentially disappeared. This makes it very easy to keep theweight off. I also show you exactly how to transition back into your regular eating patterns after the 21days while still incorporating smoothies into your diet to keep the weight off. In fact, most people lovethe smoothies so much they don’t want to give them up after the 21 days! As some of my clients havesaid, this is a complete life-transformation program .
I HAVE TYPE-2 DIABETES, WILL THIS WORK FOR ME?Fresh, whole fruits, as well as blended green smoothies not only provide a healthy way for diabetics toget more fruits and vegetables in their diet, green smoothies also may help reverse some of thediet and lifestyle problems that exacerbate diabetes, or contributes to its progression. “Now, I know I love to bake and love people!” she beamed.
Soon, the love and grace the Pie Chicks showed to one another began to trickle down to their customers, who would stop by to share their struggles over Tara’s famous apple or original recipe “junkberry” pies. But as the Pie Haven grew in popularity, Tara, who many affectionately call the Pie Queen, knew she had to spread the love to even more people.
She started with her devo-tional and recipe book, Eat.
Pie. Love, and when the pan-demic hit, the Pie Chicks used their commercial kitchen to make meals for those strug-gling to feed their families.
“That’s what it’s all about: helping others and loving ’em like Jesus does!” Tara smiles. “It’s the key to joy: to love people for who they are and encourage them to find their joy!” —Alexandra Pollock G

Tara Royer Steele gazed at the building before her, her heart soaring as
she turned the key in the lock. For years, the Texas native had worked at her family’s Round Top café, known for its deli-cious pies. But after a lifetime of body image issues, an abu-sive marriage and financial turmoil, the family business felt like more of a hiding place than one she could call home.
But in 2011, after she got divorced and remarried to her new husband, Rick, Tara found herself with a chance at a new start, buying a building where she planned to start a pie shop and bakery of her own. And as she got her business going, Tara realized she had another dream in her heart: to share that opportunity for a fresh start with employees coming from a tough place in life like she had.
After decades of low self-esteem and an abusive marriage, Tara Royer Steele longed to find a way to heal her heart—and the hearts of others like her. And she found the way to do it was as easy as pie!
“We help women heal—one pie at a time!”
“I want this place to be a haven for them,” she mused to Rick. “That’s what we’ll call it: Royer’s Pie Haven!”
With a plan in place, Tara began hiring a team of “Pie Chicks,” a group of women who had experienced the pain of divorce, single motherhood and abuse. Ranging from a 31-year-old single mom battling depression, to a girl of just 17 struggling with bulimia and a history of being bullied, Tara welcomed women (and some men) from all walks of life.
And as the team grew, Tara noticed something incredible happening—the Pie Haven was working its healing magic on her employees too.
“I feel safe here,” one worker, who had been fighting through health issues, told her. “I can provide for my family but also take the time I need to rest.”
Another thanked Tara for taking a chance on her after years of self-doubt.
