In learning English there are four skills students should have master and

listening comprehension as one of the skills is considered to be the one having the

most important role in building communication skill. Although listening is the basic

skill in understanding English, it is the most difficult to master of all areas

(SMP,SMA, University) of language skill because English has different elements that

can cause some difficulties for Indonesian student. Not only that, teaching listening

sometimes still uses monotone activities in classroom. A media is surely be used to

help teacher in arousing the students’ interest to study English. Media are not only

pictures and stories, but internet sites can be applied to teach language in classroom

too. One of them is Animation clip. Animation clip as media which offers both a

visual and audio depiction of dialougue and story in a potential real-life situation. It

allows students to access more information while listening.

From that problem above, this research has a purpose to find out the answer

from the statement of the problem, listening ability in recount text of the tenth grader

of SMA PGRI 1Pati in Academic year 2017/2018 after being taught by using

Animation Clip is better than before.

This is a quantitative research, which relies on quantitative data based on

computation and measurement, operational variables and statistics. The method of the

research is experiment. The design of the study is the quasi-experimental method with

pre-test and post-test . the data taken from result of student’s test with. This research

applied a cluster random sampling technique to get samples. After the students are

given the pre-test, they are given the treatment for four meetings. Then, the data is

analyzed by using the t-test method to find out whether listening ability in recount

text of the tenth grader of SMA PGRI 1 Pati in Academic year 2017/2018 after being

taught by using Animation Clip is better than before.

From the Analysis , the writer finds that the best score that the students

achieve before being taught by using Animatin clip is 90 and the lowest score is 55.

While the average score (mean)of the students is 65.5, the median and the standard

deviation is 7.08. It means that the student’s ability before being taught by using

Animation clip catagorized as sufficent. And after they have been taught by using

Animation clip, the English score that the students achieve is 95 and the lowest is 75.

Meanwhile, the average is 85.03and standard deviation is 6.84. It means that listening

ability after being taught by using Animation clip catagorized as good.. The result of

ttest is 9.81. So, listening ability of the tenth grader of SMA PGRI 1 Pati in Academic

year 2017/2018 before and after taught by using Animation clip is better than before.

Dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris terdapat empat keahlian siswa harus kuasi

dan ketrampilan mendengar yang merupakan slah satunya dirasa mempunyai peran

paling dalam membangun keahlian berkomunikasi. Meskipun ketrampilan mendengar

adalah keahlian dasar dalam memahami bahasa Inggris, juga yang paling sulit dikuasi

dari semua area keahlian bahasa karena bahasa Inggris memiliki elemen berbeda

yang menyulitkan siswa Indonesia. Tidak hanya itu, pengajaran bahasa Inggris

terkadang menggunakan kegiatan monoton dalam ruang kelas. Sebuah media

tentunya bisa digunakan untuk membantu guru dalam meningkatkan ketertarikan

siswa untuk belajar bahasa Inggris. Media tidak melulu gambar dan cerita, tetapi situs

internet bisa diapplikasikan dalam pengajaran bahasa diruang kelas. Satu diantaranya

adalah Animation clip, Animation clip sebagai media yang mana melalui audio-visual

dan gambaran sebuah dialog dan cerita yang potensial dari kehidupan nyata. Media

tersebut memberikan kesempatan kepada pelajar untuk mengakses banyak informasi

sambil mendengarkan.

Dari masalah diatas, penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mendapatkan jawaban

dari pernyataan masalah, apakah ketrampilan mendengar didalam materi teks recount

dari siswa kelas sepuluh di SMA PGRI 1 PATI sesudah diajarkan dengan

menggunakan Animation clip bisa lebih baik dari sebelumnya.

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif, yang bergantung pada data

kuantitatif berdasarkan perhitungan dan pengukuran, variabel operasional dan

statistik. Metode penelitian adalah eksperimen. Desain penelitiannya adalah metode

kuasi-eksperimental dengan pre-test dan post-test. Data diambil dari test pilihan

ganda. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling untuk

mendapatkan sample. Setelah siswa diberikan pre-test, mereka diberikan treatment

selama empat kali pertemuan. Kemudian, data dianalisis menggunakan metode t-test

untuk mencari tahu apakah ketrampilan mendengar didalam materi teks recount dari

siswa kelas sepuluh di SMA PGRI 1 PATI sesudah diajarkan dengan menggunakan

Animation clip bisa lebih baik dari sebelumnya.

Dari hasil analisis, penulis menemukan nilai tertinggi yang diperoleh siswa

sebelum diajarkan menggunakan Animation clip adalah 90 dan nilai terendah adalah

55. Sementara nilai rata-rata dari siswa adalah 65.5 dan standar deviasi adalah 7.08,

dengan hasil itu, ketrampilan siswa adalah katagori cukup. Setelah mereka diajarkan

menggunkan Animation clip, nilai bahasa Inggris siswa adalah 95 dan nilai terendah

adalah 75. Sementara rata-rata nilai siswa adalah 85.03dan standar deviasi adalah

6.84. level dari ketrampilan siswa dalam listening setelah diajar menggunakan

Animation clip adalah katagori baik. Hasil dari t-test adalah 9.81. Maka, ketrampilan

siswa dalam mendengar di kelas sepuluh SMA PGRI 1 PATI dalam tahun ajaran

2017/2018 setelah diajar menggunakan Animation clip bisa lebih baik dari

sebelumnya.
