How to Make Fruit Punch for a Party

(with a Watermelon Punch Bowl)

Ingredients:

• 1 watermelon (choose a good quality one with no blemishes).

• 2 to 3 litres of orange juice.

• ½ litre of mango juice.

• ½ litre of guava juice.

• Sugar syrup.

• Ice cubes.

Tools:

• Knife.

• Large spoon.

Instructions

1. Cut the top off the watermelon.

2. Using a large spoon, scoop out the watermelon flesh. Be careful not to stick

the spoon through the peel. Use the flesh to make something else, like a fruit

salad or watermelon juice. Leave the watermelon juice inside the watermelon

bowl. This will add flavour to the punch.

3. Pour the orange juice, mango juice, and guava juice into the hollowed out

watermelon.

4. Add some sugar syrup to sweeten the taste.

5. Put some ice cubes.

6. Place on the table. Arrange glasses for guests to help themselves.

Pomegranate

Pomegranate is a fruit with a rounded shape and reddish skin. It is 5-12 cm in

diametre, between the size of a lemon and a grapefruit. Pomegranate trees are quite

small, around 6 to 10 metres high. The leaves are glossy and narrow. Many specimens

of pomegranate are extremely long-lived and can survive up to 200 years.

Although it is originated in the Himalayas and Egypt, nowadays, pomegranate is

planted all over the world. The fruit is typically in season from September to February

in the Northern Hemisphere, while in the Southern, it is cultivated from March to

May. Thus, pomegranate can be found in almost all parts of the world. It is also

mentioned in many ancient texts and traditions. Ancient Greeks regarded

pomegranate as the fruit of the dead, while in Egypt, it was a symbol of prosperity and

ambition.

Every part of a pomegranate fruit contains a lot of properties and benefits. The

edible seeds are excellent sources of dietary fiber. They provide 12% of the daily

value for vitamin C and 16% for vitamin K. Pomegranates also carry ellagitannins and

flavonoids, which are great antioxidants. Not only that, the fruit’s juice, seeds, and

skin contain steroid hormones, including estrone.

Pomegranate can be consumed raw as intact seeds or used in several culinary

techniques. The tasty fruit often acts as an ingredient in cooking, baking, smoothies,

juice blends, and cocktails. The seeds are commonly used in Persian, Indian, and

Pakistani cuisine as a spice known as anardana. In Turkey, pomegranate sauce is used

as a salad dressing, while in Azerbaijan, it is usually served with fish or kebab.

Mexicans use pomegranate in the traditional dish chiles en nogada to represent the red

of the Mexican flag.
